I love Curran Coffee! I'm so glad I found this coffee shop during my time in Tacoma as this place was the perfect way to start my week-long conference. Curran Coffee is a delightful coffee shop in north Tacoma, with the friendliest staff and charming location. I wanted to find a coffee spot on the way to the University of Puget Sound where my conference was from the hotel I was staying, and fortunately, Curran Coffee was there for me. After trying Curran Coffee for the first time, I ended up visiting again for my coffee and breakfast run as it ended up being better than the other Tacoma coffee spots I tried. Located in north Tacoma in the cutest neighborhood, it definitely has that local, neighborhood vibe. In fact, every time I visited Curran Coffee, the baristas recognized many of the other patrons who were clearly frequent customers and locals, and would chat with them about everything. I love these kind of businesses where the staff and community members have formed a friendship! The coffee is good with many inventive drinks and pastries from the local Three Hearts bakery in Tacoma. I ordered the Taurus drink once and ended up getting it every time I visited. It's a dirty vanilla chai with chocolate and macadamia, which is one of my favorite combinations. Also for breakfast, one of their only savory pastries they offer here is a ham and swiss croissant from Three Hearts. And I'm not a ham fan, but this was one of the best croissants I've had! It was a great breakfast that I ordered each time I visited Curran. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be my go-to coffee shop. But it was awesome to have found this during my week in Tacoma, for some much-needed coffee and a pastry to start the day. Thank you, Curran! read more

So far this has been the best coffee shop I have tried in the Tacoma area. I am visiting from SoCal and would consider myself a coffee snob and this place did it for me! Amazing flavors in my latte (I ordered the Gemini - which happens to also be my zodiac sign), and the coffee was great. I ordered a lemon-cake pastry which was recommended to me from one of the barista's, it was OK. I really enjoyed the candied-lemon slice on top of the cake, that was good. This is my favorite Tacoma coffee shop! The magic hour (iced) is my fav drink, and I can't help but enjoy a treat from the pastry cabinet each visit. The bagels, chocolate croissants, and raspberry bars are my go-tos. My daughter looooooves this place. They seem to change their menu for the season. Mine gets a sun glow which isn't on the menu now but if you ask they will provide. I've tried all the different espresso drinks and do enjoy. A little pricey but the line is long so something is drawing people here! It's cute and quaint and small. Boho vibe. My daughter and I have been coffee shop hoping while working on her homework and we came across this little gem. We got a mocha, hot chocolate, and a cookie. The space is small, just a few tables, but it feels cozy. While we did homework we saw people playing cards, checking e-mail and just hanging out. It seems like a great place to meet a friend or sit down after visiting the Neighborhood. The cookie was large and packed with chocolate and M&Ms. It was buttery and the perfect softness. I kept stealing pieces from my daughter and should have just bought my own. The mocha was good and my daughter enjoyed the hot chocolate. I would definitely visit again. read more

Delicious and great staff. Customer service is really amazing, Audrey was nice enough to make my dogs some pup cups alongside my human order. I love their unique drinks (classic ones are delish too) and the pastries are great. Inside can be pretty warm on hot days but the outdoor seating is always an option. read more

This coffee shop, in Old Town Tacoma, has such cute witchy vibes as well as the best drinks and pastries (the pastries are from Three Hearts Bakery in Hilltop) I get their chai latte which can be made as sweet, spicy, or a mix of both! I get the mix and it's so, so, SO good. They also have really uniquely crafted drinks like a rose chai or different types of coffee concoctions. My husband has had their espresso and said it's average but not amazing. The pastries are always a must get, too! The seasonal drinks here were tasty and unique. My mom got the Pistachio chai latte, and I got the Maple Leaf latte. The flavors were balanced and not too sweet! I also got the banana ginger muffin, its texture was tender and spongey, with a mild ginger flavor. We were served by the co-owner--a Tacoma native! The staff here are super friendly, and the space is inviting--though it is on the smaller side. I've only tried their cold brew so far, and it's never disappointed. They're not a roaster themselves; I believe they use Olympia Coffee, which is a well-known roaster in the area. The baked goods are decent, though I'm not sure where they source them from. Glad to have found this gem after my run along Jack Hyde Park. Highly recommend this place after doing a run or visiting point defiance park. I got the spiced lavender chai with oat milk and the Taurus which is a vanilla chai with espresso, macadamia and chocolate. Both are tasty drinks and the right level of sweetness for me. You can also opt for other types of milk too. I got their everything pinwheel croissant and that was delicious. They have specialty drinks and you can add espresso to them and they still taste great! My drinks and food came out within a few minutes after ordering so the service was quick! The interior is cute with a few tables with outlets if you want a place to work. They have a couch and few seats outside as well to catch up with friends. There's only street parking but it was easy to find. read more

This is a really great coffee shop and I absolutely see why they have insanely long lines a lot of the time I drive by. On this Sunday I'd gotten here early enough that there were only a handful of people in the shop and I was able to park right out front. The shop itself is super cute and very inviting. They have basically everything that you'd expect a coffee shop to have along with some fun sounding house specials. I went with the Gemini made with oat milk. It was wonderful and I will 100% be drinking that again after I try a few of the other specials first. The whole coffee shop was so cute & the best plate to post up & work (especially as someone from out of town who was only in Tacoma for the day). We've been in a few times and have always had prompt and happy service for the yummy drinks that Curran offers. They're right next to The Spar in a cute corner location with cozy seats and places to sit and chat or work. We love the Aquarius and Green Velvet and would recommend either! The power was out in a good portion of Tacoma due to a storm, so I was on a mission to find a place to work. I went down to Old Town and found Curran Coffee. Ordered a drip coffee. Coffee was dark, smooth and strong! Service was great, the girls at the counter were really welcoming. Wifi was fast and seating was great at the bar overlooking Old Town. Love this new coffee shop in old town Tacoma!! It's so cute and cozy :). Street parking was pretty easy to find. Baristas were friendly and quick. I tried the honey nut matcha (pistachio, matcha, honey) which was a really interesting combo + also tried the taurus (vanilla chai, chocolate, macadamia nut) - both were super good! Taurus was definitely sweeter than the honey nut matcha. I'm not sure which one I liked better.. I definitely want to go back and try their coffee though. Inside, there are a couple tables, some counter seats, and a couch. Seems like a great place to chat with a friend or get some work done! Loved the cozy vibes. They also had a big Christmas tree at the window for the holiday season which was so cute. Prices were average for a coffee shop. Overall, I would recommend checking it out!!! read more

Oh! Glad that we were in Old Town Tacoma (a neighborhood we don't often go to) and came across Curran Coffee, a new coffee shop that opened where the old Spar restaurant used to be. The space is reduced from the size of the restaurant was so keep that in mind as the place is new and pretty popular as far in regards to seating there. The drinks here are wonderful! I got the shop's version of the London Fog. Oat Milk was in it instead of regular milk which balanced off of the earl grey flavor in a great way giving it a great complex flavor. Wow! It was good! Steve got the Desert Rain which was a berry Italian Soda which was phenomenal. Pastries are great too! I can't recommend this place enough! read more
