This is my "go to choice" whenever someone wants to go out for coffee, I know that their drinks will be superb. They make their syrups inhouse, and you can tell, even a basic caramel latte tasted like the most delicate, handcrafted drink. They have fun seasonals, they're a hit or miss obviously based on your preferences, but I love them all so far. My go to drink pairing is a cardamon and ginger latte. The inside is SO HOMEY. It's rare to find coffee shops that haven't succumbed to the hospital white aesthetic, so this is so refreshing on the head. It is the ideal shop to study in. The cups and plates are my favorite thing about this place. The cups are handmade and just so stinking cute. The baristas are so welcoming every single time I come in, they look like they just love their job and love to chat with the customers. The outside of the shop is a mint green which really throws me off because the inside is so cute. The parking situation is a little limited as well, there's a few parking spots near the shop and the rest is street parking. They have a large selection of pastries and some food but know that if you come in the afternoon there probably won't be much left, they go pretty quick. Amazing shop, it's a different aesthetic than what most shops are but it feeds that "homey" craving that I have when I want to study at a coffee shop. read more

Every cup of coffee that has been sipped from Beware has been a delight. I like to view myself as some sort of coffee connoisseur and I can 100% say that this place takes pride in what they do. The wait is a little long and I feel that is because they take their time with each cup they make. Seating is scarce so if you plan to enjoy your cup inside, do come in when they open because it fills up really quick. My only recommendation if they look into the reviews is to remove the center table and put 2 more 2 seater tables if it still allows within capacity. Never change. Your coffee is great. read more

Super cute coffee shop that does get pretty busy! When it's busy, expect about 20-30 min wait for your order. I love the variety of house-made syrups and the milk alternates since I'm lactose intolerant. The drinks came out gorgeous and delicious! Always a treat coming here! I do love their iced matcha latte so very much. Their pastries are delicious, warm, and makes you want another. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The vibe inside is very chill and casual with a lot of natural lighting. Very PNW. There are tables and chairs to choose from if you're casually dining in. Or take your food/beverages to go. It can get crowded in the mornings and weekends, but still a great place to start your day. There's neighborhood parking, street parking, and limited parking right in front. I've been in twice in the last two weeks -- I really love it here. It's got the sweetest vibe with butter yellow walls, macrame tapestries, and handmade ceramic coffee cups. They also make their own syrups which has gotten kinda rare in Tacoma and which I love, especially since they're creative with their flavors. I particularly love the smoky syrup which is featured in the Lapsang Suchong Latte. The barista had described it as "almost savory." I wouldn't go that far but it certainly was different and I LOVED it. The only downside is that there isn't always room to sit on a weekend morning, but it's a small price to pay. read more

Customer service was top tier during my visit today! Staff was very patient and amazing to talk to. Today I tried The Patridge iced latte - their syrups are made in house, this one has cardamom and pear, unique. Honestly, I love trying different things, but this was a little too sweet for my liking and the flavor profile was too much to enjoy my apple turnover-croissant pastry. The latte is very creamy and the quality of the flavors/coffee is good, but next time I'll stick to a regular latte. Overall, I am still on the quest for the best Tacoma coffee spot during my visit here (See my profile for other cofffee shops I've tried in the Tacoma area). This place is all around "WOW" !!! The location itself leaves more to be desired, but don't judge this book by its surroundings. My husband and I both ordered a drink off the winter warmers menu. I got the ginger bread latte and my husband got "The Partridge". Both drinks were delicious. Service was helpful and friendly. Our barista answered all of our questions and made suggestions when asked. When our drinks came out they were served in a unique ceramic coffee mug with "beware coffee" printed on each. I loved that each mug was different and made you feel at home. Our coffees were filled the the brim and walking them back to our table without destroying the coffee art was no easy undertaking so my only suggestion would be to have the staff carry those beautiful drinks to the tables. read more

One of the things that immediately drew me to this place was the lighting. My husband and I walked in and it had the cutest Christmas decorations and custom "Beware" decorations. Katie, at the register, was so helpful in recommending pastries and lattes. When she and the other employees found out we were from out of town, they went above and beyond to recommend restaurants, bars, and other breakfast spots. Today will be my fourth time visiting Beware Coffee and has now become my Sunday ritual for the mornings. My daughter recently started playing tournament softball and her practices are for three hours on Sundays. We live 30 minutes from her practice center so driving home and coming back is just not in the cards. Luckily our first round I pinged Beware randomly here on Yelp and am so glad I made it my first stop. I have been greeted with kindness, patience, and warmth with each of my visits that have last around 2 hours as I usually camp out in a spot to relax. Delicious pastries and hot drinks have made the time fly as I enjoy the music gently playing in the background or listen to something myself. Today has been a wonderful dill scone and my new favorite London fog tea with oat milk. It's not decaf like I'm supposed to have but I'll deal with it for the flavors and opportunity to enjoy some quiet time. Hopefully I'll be able to bring my wife along with me soon as it has the coffee shop vibe she has wanted as well. I love coffee shops and I don't expect local shops to produce 100 drinks per half hour like Starbucks but this one was moving at glacial pace as Miranda Priestly would say. They weren't even short staffed. I've been here twice and the second time I just knew the 15 minutes line would almost amount to 20 minutes waiting for one drink, and I couldn't subject myself to that. Either don't come here on a weekend or come in when you plan to spend 3 hours at a coffee shop, 1 hour allotted to get your drink. They seem to have a lot of regulars but doesn't seem like if you're a new patron expect to be treated like an outsider. read more
