The staff was friendly but I was sooooo disappointed with my coffee. I ordered an iced white chocolate americano and it was bitter, sour, almost curdled, and zero sweetness. I paid $10 and it just was NOT worth it :(

I first discovered Outer Dark Coffee at the E9 brewery where they had some of their coffee beans for sale. We purchased some and really likedwhat we bought. We also were told that they would be opening a coffee shop soon so we kept our eyes peeled for the location to open. When they did it wasn't long before we paid a visit there. Very nice setup. Parking isn't great but I have a badge for a parking garage downtown and the walk there is quite manageable. The first time we were here I got their Cold Brew which was very good! I occasionally want one of these and it fit the bill nicely for our first visit. The second visit I was told the menu just changed which I assumed was for the Autumn season and got a Roobios London Fog which was awesome! I love London Fogs but never had a Roobios before and really enjoyed it! They do have pastries also and they are brought in by the fantastic bakery, Spilled Butter and we simply can't pass up when we see their stuff pop up at the different coffee shops around town. Great new addition to the coffee shop scene in Tacoma and one worth checking out if you are an afficionado with them.

Great coffee, drinks are not too sweet, which is appreciated. Taking beans home! Good baked goods, too.

I wish we had something like this in Seattle. A true specialty coffee cafe, with a lot of options,…read moresourcing, and anything ranging from neutral to flavor bomb profiles. The employees here are really nice, and the coffee beans are some of the most vibrant and packed with flavor (my preference) due to the experimental techniques used and their careful sourcing. The espresso drinks include classics, but also a lot of cool twists and syrups too. Pastries are excellent. The goat cheese chimichurri was so good and savory, and vibrant herbs and spices. Definitely a must-stop for my Tacoma visits!

It is located only a 5-minute drive from the car museum. We got yummy Smashburgers (comes with chips) and fries at Canteen by Camp Colvos. For drinks, we got a couple of sodas at Canteen, a Willie Maize Hazy IPA on tap at the 7 Seas bar, and I tried a refreshing Lavender Patch (16 oz iced sparkling espresso with lavender syrup and yuzu lemonade) at Naomi Joe Coffee. They have some pinball machines, free water at the back, and a party room you can rent. As with most breweries, it is family-friendly. I love the laid-back and friendly atmosphere of this place. They sell cool merch and have a neat display in honor of the historic Heidelberg Brewing Company of Tacoma that dates back to 1912.

Very cute place! Tucked away in an alley near downtown Tacoma…read more I had been eyeing this place for a while. I have seen it here on Yelp. I had been seeing some NA cocktails on my social media feed and saw that Soulberry Coffee House stocks them. Figured it is better to try them one by one rather than committing to a subscription order online. They have great coffee and pastries, from what I tried. I got a muffin, donut, and turnover and the latte of the month. Looks like their specialty is coffee and mocktails. I believe they roast their own coffee. They have a pretty good size mocktail menu. They sell packaged NA RTDs, as well as alcohol free/removed wines and spirits, bitters, syrups, elderberry syrup, fired cider, honey, teas and more. The folks at the counter were friendly and welcoming. They also had some alcohol free/removed wines out for complimentary tasting. The one I tried was surprisingly delicious. It appears they have some sort of loyalty program at checkout, but I am unsure of the details. I forgot to ask about military discount. I would definitely come back.

Recco's: Pour over, Nitro cold brew if they have that on tap, and baked goods by Three Hearts Bakery Cons: Service is a hit or miss at this new location. Being on STW (that is short for South Tacoma Way), I think this location has huge potential for attracting non-locals compared to their 6th Ave location (already established local reputation with regulars), hopefully they staff up to create more flexibility because a lot of times they're backed up on orders especially early mornings due to several crowd rolling in from Howdy Bagel across the street, they're also a bit stoic when it comes to simple greetings. Cortado is one of my favorite coffee drinks but I will not order from this location, today I ordered it with almond milk (which, for cortado of less than 4oz, the portion of milk is not very much but I paid a kidney for it, its my fault) it was $6.07. The barista did provide a tip for next time if I'm looking for a more fuller 8oz drink, I can go for a Flat White. I visit both of their locations fairly regularly and do appreciate this STW location that is closer to me. Parking is on street and has never given any problem finding a spot nearby. Great offerings of seasonal coffee drinks, and I enjoy coming here very early before the crowd hits.
