Sana'ani coffee and a slice of cheesecake they gave me for free
    Sophia B.

This is a fantastic cafe. Both the food and drinks are phenomenal. I ordered a Sana'ani coffee and pistachio ricotta cake. The workers also gave me a free slice of strawberry cheese cake that I didn't order. The cakes were both fantastic. Not overly sweet, and tasted like real flavorings. Not too heavy or overbearing. Paired so nicely with the strong spiced coffee. I LOVE Yemeni coffee places. There are several in my hometown, as there's a large immigrant population there. If you're craving delicious coffee and tea with unique spices, blends, and flavors, this is a must try in the Tacoma area. The menu has a lot of variety in case you want a more typical American cafe drink. But the traditional Yemeni coffee options are delicious! The vibes inside were also wonderful. Chairs were comfortable, tables were a good size, and I was totally comfortable to sit and work for awhile. The music wasn't too loud which is perfect if you need to focus on work or want to put headphones in. It's a wonderfully calm, clean, and welcoming environment. The workers are also so kind and provide excellent service. I will definitely come back here!

We had a fantastic experience. We've been here a few times and it's a must stop now if we're in the area. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Great scenery, very clean and spacious, great for families! Now the coffee. If you love coffee and you've never had anything like this before do yourself a favor and try this place. I enjoyed the Yemeni coffee a lot. The pistachio ricotta is a MUST. Arabic coffee was very light, more like tea-it was good but not my favorite in the bunch. I tried some Turkish coffee. It's a dark roast. But it's yummy if you like that kind of thing. Very strong for refined coffee palate if you like dark black coffee, but it's so smooth. Very reasonable pricing. We all loved it. Enjoy!

We were in the area and were curious about this place. I saw a bunch of posts about it on social media so I wanted to check it out. We got the honeycomb bread and one of the meat pies. We also got the Yemeni latte and a pistachio latte. I wouldn't say the food and drinks were amazing, but they're not bad. The service was not bad. It seemed like there was a bit of confusion regarding our order so it took longer than expected to get our order. If you live in the area, it's not a bad place to study or work or get a quick caffeine fix.

Got a biscoff latte, my second time here and both times were so yummy! Great and quick service, super clean establishment. Coffee just wasn't as strong as I'm used to around here but think that's just the style of the espresso here.

I wish you could smell and feel the way it is to walk in to Sana'a Cafe! Relaxing, calming, and inviting are words that come to mind. Coffee and tea are amazing and made to order. Service is great, staff is attentive, smart and welcoming. It's my second trip in, yet I plan to become a regular.

This is a very clean and vibrant cafe. Its a great place to hang out and chat with friends or get some work done. I love the array of desserts and Yemeni drinks. I ordered the Adeni Chai served hot. They did ask me if I wanted to adjust the sugar level which I did say yes to. But even after adjusting the sugar level, the drink was still overly sweet. The drink was very fragrant and you could taste the warm spices like cardamom. But I think next time I would get it without any sweetness. The little pastries that I ordered was already sweet, so having both sugary desserts and sugary drinks together was a bit too much. The prices are your average prices anywhere else, about $5 to $7. The workers there were really nice and generous too. They gave my friend and I cookies on the house to sample.

Order the MOFAWAR. A strong coffee drink. So good!

I was a bit hesitant about walking in because I've never had Yemeni coffee before but I sure am happy that I did! Upon walking in and heading straight to the register, the young lady that was at the register was super nice and helpful when I told her that it was my first time there and I've never had Yemeni coffee. She recommended to me the MOFAWAR and I LOVED IT! It is medium roast coffee with cardamom, cream, and just the right amount of sweetness. It was the perfect hot drink for that cold, sprinkling rain day. It really did bring warmth to my soul and wake me up hahaha The place has a good selection of seats but I enjoyed sitting on the couch, sipping on my drink, and looking out the window. A very nice place to start your day at!

I love to this place, their food and drinks are spectacular. I have never had drinks like these and they are all fantastic. Service is always polite and welcoming and I love the vibe of the place.

Parking lot is not the best but do not let that stop you from checking out this new unique spot. Very friendly staff, flavors that are amazing! Good vibes inside. Great conversations with people also enjoying the food and beverages. Love this place for Tacoma

So so glad Sana'a is here. It's tucked into a strip of shops on the north side of 38th, next to the Wing Stop where the Starbucks used to be. They make Yemeni coffee and pastries and, as far as I know, this is the only place you're going to get those things anywhere around here! So far I've been in 3 times. I've had both the Yemeni style coffee and the Yemeni latte. Both are made with the same spices but Yemeni coffee itself is lighter than espresso. Either way, it's redolent of cardamom and cinnamon and something you'd probably like if you already like chai. The Turkish coffee is revelation. I thought it would be too bitter and strong but it was a revelation. And the pistachio pastry was chef's kiss. On top of this all, the servers are so pleasant and there's a wonderful nook to the right of the entrance where you can hunker down and get comfortable on a cushioned banquette. I really love this place and am so glad it's come along, especially now that Tacoma has lost another one of its best coffee shops, Common Ground, where they used to make a great cardamom latte.

Nothing like you've ever had! Walking in, you'll notice how beautiful the cafe is! I was completely blown away by Yemeni coffee. I like sweet iced coffee so I got one of the holiday specials made with Yemeni coffee. I enjoyed every bit of it! The Pistachio Ricotta is a MUST!!!! Please do yourself a favor and get it. It's not too sweet, perfectly light and fluffy! The employees were so kind and were patient enough to help educate us about the different flavor profiles.

Yemeni coffee!!! This is a California chain that expanded to Washington and opened their only cafe in the state in Tacoma! Saw the great reviews and finally stopped by. Inside this place is beautiful! Modern and high end decor with foreign music playing. Ordered a latte and I liked that they serve it hot. Coffee flavor was a bit stronger than other places but I enjoyed it! Ordered pistachio milk cake and an almond danish. They warmed up the danish for me and brought both on a beautiful gold platter! Milk cake is very similar to "tres leches" cake. I was pleasantly surprised with the almond danish, it was really good and probably the best thing I ordered. This place is popular and I can see why! Will be back!

I was really excited to try this place. The menu especially the dessert options look amazing. We tried the baklava, chocolate cake and the pistachio cake.. unfortunately all three were super sweet and I personally didn't love the flavor.Service was quick and friendly..and has a nice cafe ambience. I will be back to try some of their beverages and other options but hoping they improve their desserts flavor wise.

Being on STW (that is short for South Tacoma Way), I think this location has huge potential for attracting non-locals compared to their 6th Ave location (already established local reputation with regulars), hopefully they staff up to create more flexibility because a lot of times they're backed up on orders especially early mornings due to several crowd rolling in from Howdy Bagel across the street, they're also a bit stoic when it comes to simple greetings. Cortado is one of my favorite coffee drinks but I will not order from this location, today I ordered it with almond milk (which, for cortado of less than 4oz, the portion of milk is not very much but I paid a kidney for it, its my fault) it was $6.07. The barista did provide a tip for next time if I'm looking for a more fuller 8oz drink, I can go for a Flat White. I visit both of their locations fairly regularly and do appreciate this STW location that is closer to me. Parking is on street and has never given any problem finding a spot nearby. Great offerings of seasonal coffee drinks, and I enjoy coming here very early before the crowd hits.

They make their syrups inhouse, and you can tell, even a basic caramel latte tasted like the most delicate, handcrafted drink. They have fun seasonals, they're a hit or miss obviously based on your preferences, but I love them all so far. My go to drink pairing is a cardamon and ginger latte. The inside is SO HOMEY. It's rare to find coffee shops that haven't succumbed to the hospital white aesthetic, so this is so refreshing on the head. It is the ideal shop to study in. The cups and plates are my favorite thing about this place. The cups are handmade and just so stinking cute. The baristas are so welcoming every single time I come in, they look like they just love their job and love to chat with the customers. The outside of the shop is a mint green which really throws me off because the inside is so cute. The parking situation is a little limited as well, there's a few parking spots near the shop and the rest is street parking. They have a large selection of pastries and some food but know that if you come in the afternoon there probably won't be much left, they go pretty quick. Amazing shop, it's a different aesthetic than what most shops are but it feeds that "homey" craving that I have when I want to study at a coffee shop.
