Was finally about to hit this spot, one of the few bagel spots around Northern Washington I haven't checked out. Mostly street parking around here, I never have an issue but I often come in off-hours. Might be tough or need to go a bit farther during rush hours. The vibes here are amazing! Lots of well-curated local pantry goods, merch, cozy indoor seating and extremely warm and friendly service. As for the bagels, they're very OK. Extremely tough outer skin with more chew than I'd like and the interior is fine in terms of flavor and subpar in terms of texture (I want something fluffier or more pillowy inside). I tried a pastrami sandwich there where they add pepperoncinis and it gave it a surprising acidic quality that I liked but probably wouldn't get again. The first time we drove by the line was out the door so we went another day and got in at the right time the line wasn't so bad. We ordered the lox in a box and grit city lox and I couldn't decide which one I liked the best. The smoked salmon was the best I've had. We finally swung by Howdy Bagel on a Wednesday morning and were able to get inside without much of a line which is rare here! The atmosphere is very cute and I love the ambiance here. We ordered both the sausage and bacon breakfast bagels and both were super delicious! I personally think their rosemary sea salt bagel is the best bagel they offer and would go back to order just that over and over again. The workers were kind and efficient and the food was wonderful. As we waited the shop began to fill up quite quickly so I'd say typically, expect a wait or even a line out the door to get them. Totally worth the Hype! We went on a weekday and there was a short line. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. The bacon egg and cheese hot sandwich was the winner! Definitely coming back for this! Fresh made to order. So scrumptious! There is some seating inside. All the customers are so sweet and willing to share their space. What a wonderful morning we had. I love Howdy Bagel! I never imagined myself dreaming about bagels... It's such a cute, quirky space, with its decor centered around everything bagels and queerness (get it, "everything bagel" ;) anywho...). My tried and true is their lox in a box with their rosemary sea salt bagel. Their Euro-lox tastes luxuriously rich and buttery - not intensely salty and pairs well with, well... everything they have on it - piquant pickled onions, capers, fresh dill, and fresh lemon dill cream cheese that I always end up taking a small tub home! It's relatively a long wait on the weekends where the line goes out the door and down the block, waiting anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour. Howdy Bagel has been on my radar for awhile, but I understand that it's very hard to get in there and when they sell out they're out for the day. I had a day off and made sure to get up early to get some bagels. I arrived about 15 minutes before opening and there was already a line 10+ deep. Once the store opened for the day, it took 15 minutes to get to the counter and another 10 minutes for my bagels to appear in my hand. This is definitely not a grab and go place - you gotta build time in your schedule! I grabbed 2 tubs of cream cheese - garlic and scallion - and placed my order for a half dozen bagels, one of each flavour. They only had 5 flavours on the menu so I confirmed that I'd like an extra rosemary to make it 6. I received all rosemary bagels. Sigh. They were good and I'm happy that I wasn't stuck with 6 plain bagels, but I really wanted to try each flavour. At least the cream cheese was really good! A nice whipped texture and the flavour didn't disappoint! I don't know if I'm willing to spend another 40+ minutes of my life just to get bagels, but I see why they're popular! read more

I've had my eye on this spot for months after seeing it all over instagram, and I finally made the trip. Went in on a Saturday and, yes, there was a line, about 20 minutes but totally worth it! I ordered the Lox in a Box and my bf got the Hot to Go, and both were delicious. The bagels are hearty, filling, and they don't skimp on toppings. You really get what you pay for. I heard the line can be crazy but we got lucky because I don't think people knew they were open this Tuesday, Dec 23 as normal they're closed on Tuesdays. Arrived around 8:30am and there was already a line outside. It moved relatively quickly and we probably waited about 10 minutes or so to place an order and then roughly 15 minutes for said order. We ordered a SEC and a BEC, both on Rosemary Sea Salt bagels. The BEC was absolutely delicious with crispy, thick bacon. I liked the SEC but a bit less with the turkey sausage. Well, I can honestly say I've missed Howdy Bagel SO MUCH! I switched back to working from home for several months and missed my weekly trip to Howdy as much as I missed my office in general. They never disappoint, whether we are talking the food, the service, or the ambiance! If you can catch them on a day when the line does not stretch down the sidewalk, get yourself in there! If there is a line, it is well worth the wait but it's a special day when I can get in and out in like 10-15 minutes. I enjoy all of their fare, my favorite by far is Lox in a Box ... it's the best. I also have discovered that I love to add cucumber slices for extra crunch and it's so good! (Note: the biggest difference between Lox in a Box and Grit City Lox is that Grit city uses a hot, flaky-style smoked salmon rather than cold-smoked). Their products (other than food) and service speak for themselves and bring so much joy to my day. The genuine smiles, the joyful bustle of happy customers, and a perfect decor scheme! I am so glad that I got a chance to visit this adorable and delicious smelling spot! We tried to stop by last Thursday around the same time but they had quite a line that almost reached out the door. Came in on a Wednesday morning after seeing how long their line was on a previous weekend when I was getting some coffee from across the street. I had never even heard of this place until I visually saw their line. It really caught my attention that there was such a long line for a bagel place. Normally most bagel places are repulsive to me, and I only know a few places that I really enjoyed in California that were true New York bagels, but did not advertise them as New York bagels, and for some reason, I thought those places were somewhat special because they had an oomph to their bagels that I could not quite put my finger on, until I was told that they were New York style. Most places that advertise New York style bagels are not New York style. So, after seeing how long the wine was at this place, I was hopeful that it would be a similar experience. I came in on a Wednesday morning at 7:30 and there was already one person in line half an hour before they opened. I decided to get in line and after getting coffee, and once it was 8 AM, the doors opened. Long line quickly formed behind me and there were at least 20 people by 7:50 am (8 am open). The ambiance was just like any other place I would expect, with decorations going along the ceilings and coffee bags displayed with multiple different plants. There are a few circular tables with bench seating, so it can feel like you're in close proximity to others. Service was friendly and very welcoming Their menu looked a little interesting and I decided to get their housemade turkey sausage, egg, and cheese. They had multiple different bagel options, including standard ones you would find it those bagel shops, but they also had a rosemary one that caught my eye. I was told that this was one of their popular bagels so I decided to give it a try Came out to about $13-$14, which is pretty expensive for a bagel. But I guess when you have lines that go out the door and live in this area, it might not be too farfetched They also have espresso drinks and a decent espresso machine here, but I did not try the coffee, but looks like they get their beans from Olympia Coffee Roasting. Now to the bagel itself. The sausage was cooked very well, and the egg was nicely done. It was a relief to see that the egg was real and not some premade crap. The bagel was soft, perfectly chewy, and felt like I was eating a New York bagel. Definitely would say this is one of the better bagels I have had. I don't know if I would come here regularly because of how long it takes but if you want some good bagels, this is definitely the place. read more

I've been on several occasions. Staff is always friendly. I was feeling different flavors but didn't want 2 whole bagels so they let me do 1/2 and 1/2. Very cool. I like that the sesame is all around the bagel and not just on top. They make the bagels in house fresh daily. You can see the dough and when busy, they pull fresh bagels constantly. I've been obsessing over the Seattle bagel scene for awhile from Portland and decided to check out Howdy Bagel on my drive up rather than deal with the horrendous lines at Mt Bagel and I'm glad I did. I was able to get in and order with only 2 people ahead of me. Street parking was easy to find as well which is nice. I was disappointed they ran out of rosemary sea salt, but I opted for 7 everything and sesame seed bagels with some chili smear to go. I first visited in 2023 and was genuinely impressed by the bagel. The bagel had a perfectly chewy crust and a lovely springy, soft interior that left a lasting impression. It was the kind of experience that made me want to come back and order more to keep in my freezer to enjoy later. On my return visit today, I was excited to have it again. The long lines were just as I remembered, a clear sign that this place still has a strong following. I still enjoyed the bagel, but I was slightly disappointed. Right away, I noticed the interior was denser than before. The texture was bit tougher than I remembered and less airy, which made it more difficult to chew. I captured the difference in my picture with the first bagel from 2023 with a plain cream cheese filling and the sandwich from today's bagel. Unfortunately I didn't capture a side view of the bagel to show the slight height difference. It's possible that my memory has elevated my past experience with the passing of time, and with such high expectations, the comparison may be unfair. While the texture felt a bit denser and tougher than I remembered, it was still a very enjoyable bagel. I wouldn't call it the best this time around, but it remains a solid choice. Had this for breakfast today. I really loved my bagel. The wait wasn't as long as I expected as it is a pretty popular spot. There aren't many tables available so you may be able to eat in or maybe not. From view it depends on time and day. Parking was easy. Again probably because of the day. The area itself has plenty of street parking so I wouldn't stress about it. It's kind of the only bagel place around. The only thing is my bread seemed a bit too hard. I don't remember the sandwich but it had salmon, cream cheese cucumbers, onions, and I think that was pickled radish. My partner had the picante pimiento. We would return again. read more
