I normally do not get a sandwich as my first meal of the day, but we stumbled upon this spot! I was super excited so we went to 'look' and walked out with sandwiches - ha! I ordered the Italian Sammie and my friend got to the Genoa Sammy! We took them back to the hotel room and found that they're missing their condiments! Idk I was suppose to say anything about it. We lived on the east coast for 36 years and enjoyed our fair share of deli's. MSM is the closest we've found to a traditional deli in Pierce County, and it was our second visit. Last time I got a Reuben sandwich, and it was great! I would return for that and other classics. Today I ordered a six inch chicken salad sandwich. Here's what I got: A roll of bread so thick it could be considered four pieces of bread. Two very thin slices of tomato. I couldn't see the lettuce because was diced and mixed in with the salad. I'm estimating there were no more than two ounces of chicken in the salad. I tasted more celery than chicken. The number one ingredient was mayonnaise. It was bland with very little seasoning. If I didn't know it was chicken I wouldn't have been able to tell you what it was. Maybe a crunchy mayonnaise salad sandwich. This was surprising compared to other menu items that are delicious. Definitely not worth $9 and a 30 minute wait for two cold sandwiches. A 6", a 9" club, a bag of chips and two Diet Coke's, 30 minutes, and $41.00. ( including a tip for the tip jar) The staff were friendly and there was a fun vibe. The dining area was dark, and all of the walls were bare. With customers waiting so long for their orders it would be worth tweaking it a bit. Maybe some large black and white historic photos of the deli and the neighborhood? Brighter light bulbs? Nothing to change or modernize, just not dark and dreary. One last thing. The bathroom. There is only one. They store two huge mop buckets in there. The bathroom wasn't dirty, but it didn't feel clean. The only soap was an empty pump bottle. I have a mobility disability, and if I had been alone I couldn't have shut the door. (My husband moved the trash can for me.) A grab bar on the wall would help anyone with mobility difficulties get up from the toilet. It took me several minutes to figure out how to get up. I grabbed the sink and pushed away from the wall and finally got up. Just a small grab bar would be enough! I wrote this review because I like this place and plan to return for another Reuben. I just know that they could be better. read more

I was in town and was super excited to go to MSM to get our favorite sandwich: Mikes Deluxe. We got it to go and drove the 50 minutes back home opened the paper up and was shocked to see that the normal bread that was so good, was no longer. The bread was doughy and dense. What a disappointment. 2 sandwiches with a drink $45...wow, that was a surprise, but it will last us a few meals. Please, PLEASE bring back the bread!!!!! That makes a good sandwich great. The customer services A1 this place has been around for at least 30 years that I'm aware of the service is great and the ambience is great. The staff behind the counter works very hard and diligent in getting your order correct they use the best ingredients in house. Everything is cut. It is amazing. I mean it's 20 bucks for a sandwich but it's definitely worth it and I got two meals out of my sandwich. It's conveniently located right off of sixth Avenue easy to find and has a large ample parking area. If you don't go here you're crazy. read more

This is the kind of sandwich I dream about. If your a guy who gets a 12 inch at a sub chain you only want about a medium here. I ordered a large and ate until I was stuffed and still had half a sub. Prices are good, and they have a good selection of chips and soda, not just your standard 3 flavors like most chains..I want to give an extra shout out to the thick slices of gabbagoul . YUM! Had an EXCELLENT experience here. I asked what was popular and was told the Deli Club or Mikes Deluxe. The Club was the employees favorite for the crunchy bacon and avocado. So I went with the Deli Club. Girls love them some avocado. $18.99 for a $13 inch sub seemed a little high priced until I saw the sandwich. Like they really mean 13"!!!! It was wrapped in butcher paper because this Sammie is so massive. It easily could feed 2 people, one of them having a large appetite! Every bite was delicious, not dry corners of bread on the edges at all. And somehow they've mastered that with each bite you take the filling actually doesn't slide out. It's freaking tasty magic!! The avocado spread must have been a tiny bit salted because best avocado I've had in a while!! Yes I noticed. I was glad I got the club because the REAL triple bacon crunch paired with the avocado and turkey was phenomenal. I even thought the shredded type lettuce worked well in this sub. And no soggy tomato slices! The Sammie was a 10/10. I only wished I lived closer so I could get a reasonably priced lunch or dinner anytime from here. Man how do the employees stop themselves from eating here all the time? I wouldn't be able to. Do yourself a favor and stop in sometime. Wanted a good Deli sandwich for awhile and MSM was the recommended place to go. It was just as I expected. A good Deli, the service was awesome and the young lady who helped made it easy to find good selection. Hey it's a Deli and has that Deli atmosphere. You can tell it's a good place because the to go orders were consistently being called in and the foot traffic was just as busy. They quoted a time and it was exactly to the minute ready. I tried their Mikes Deluxe, even the 6 inch was ginormous. A delicious dose of ham, turkey, roast beef, cheddar and Swiss with veggies and sprouts. So delicious! The bread was soft but not too soft and everything tasted fresh. All the sandwiches I have eaten here are delicious. The service is quick for the amount of orders they are getting. The cashiers that have been working when I go have all been friendly. The space is small for dine in so a seat is not guaranteed. I'd pick up to go instead of banking on a table and chair. Each table has two chairs and they had 3 tables last time I went. This place is a neighborhood sandwich shop. It is very busy- I recommend calling at least 30 minutes in advance if you want to get your sandwich. Otherwise you will be waiting at least 30 to 40 minutes. The reason they are busy is because it is so good. They have very reasonable price prices and the standard sandwich (9 inches) is so huge. My favorite thing to get there is the deluxe sandwich which comes with roast beef, ham, and turkey and a lot of veggies. They also have hot sandwiches although I haven't tried those but I'm sure they're great. The ambience is what you would expect for a hometown sandwich shop. Nothing fancy, but clean. I don't recommend staying there and eating. There really isn't anywhere to sit in there. There are a couple tables, although they are usually occupied by people waiting to pick up their sandwiches. They have a lot of drink options and chip options, which is always recommended when I am getting a sandwich. This is definitely my favorite sandwich shop in the area. read more

My son has deemed this the "best peanut butter and jelly" he's ever had! He says it was the perfect ratio of peanut butter to jelly and the bread with less crust was also fantastic. Best Sammies in Tacoma! Food has been consistent for years. The only thing to remember is sometimes they get crazy busy! So try to call in your order ahead if you can. The building itself is unassuming and white with blue trim. So if you don't know the area, gotta pay attention or you might pass it. My go to is the Catch of the Day and has been for as long as I can remember. They also have chips (not the British kinds lol) and beverages like a mini-Mart so you can extra goodies. They also have soups, pitas and salads if that's more your jam. Sometimes the soups do get sold out, so be sure to ask ahead or order that in advance. I've ordered the party size subs a few times too, and they are a hit at the parties. So don't hesitate to try MSM, they aren't called that for no reason. This was my first time here as I was working close by. I ordered the 9-in Deli Club which came with turkey, bacon, cheddar, sprouts, tomatos, onions and avocado. It looked like the bread was fresh made but this sandwich was fantastic! The balance of smokiness from the bacon with the creaminess from the avocado and the freshness from the tomatoes and sprouts made this sandwich perfect.
