When you're pulling up the the location you wouldn't think that there's a bomb breakfast spot in the area but OMG this place is fantastic! Small hole in the wall type spot but everything wad great. Solid stream of folks coming in and glad we beat the rush before it was a 30-40 min wait! Service, the sweetest servers! Charming and just overall nice, you know you're being taken care of with them. Renee made great recommendations and we got an omelet (forgot which one...it was a supreme/something omelet towards the top of the menu) and my hubby got a club sandwich! We love to try new places and don't mind driving a distance to experience. This place was well worth it I knew the scramble was huge from pictures but they showed on plates. My husband loves chicken fried steak, yet I'm not a fan so we got both kinds (one with and one without). The waitress asked, "Are you sure, it's huge on a 13" x 9" platter". We didn't expect the platter was an actual 13" x 9" lasagna pan .. lol Yes, they are about $40 each, but look how huge. In the area and found this little hole in the wall. Area looked a bit sketchy but drop in! Very old timey vibes. Could definitely use some upgrades with the furniture but don't let that deter you from ordering some of the best breakfast ever!! The staff were so friendly and welcoming! First of all, I apologize for the late review (I ate here back in October). However, I haven't stopped thinking about this place and can't wait to go back after my holiday travels! It's the bar against which I'll decide whether to return or not return. Marcia's chicken fried steak is second only to the best chicken fried steak I've ever eaten at Frank's Diner, Spokane, WA. A cute greasy spoon diner located in the industrial side of Tacoma. There were only 2 waitstaff and they were attentive, friendly, and so hard working. We ordered a chicken fried steak omelet and a steak omelette and both were very delicious. The portions were humongous! The chicken fried steak omelet is exactly what it sounds. Generous amount of chicken fried steak pieces in an omelet and with a very generous amount of flavorful gravy that blanketed the amazing omelet. I think the bacon bits inside was a little too much but it was still a very tasty omelette. The steak omelette also had generous amount of meat and it was seasoned well. They also didnt skimp on the hashbrowns. They were fried perfectly and the middle part was soft and creamy. Yum! This would be in my brunch rotation if I lived closer. This is my favorite breakfast place in the city. Their meals are absolutely massive usually enough to stuff yourself and then take some home and still have another breakfast later in the day. Their prices are a little high but for the amount of food you get and the quality is totally worth it. They really load up your plate lol we took the other half home for leftovers and were happily eating them again for a late lunch. We have been hitting breakfast spots all over to find a really solid place. We have had many awesome places with great food and awesome service. Sadly this was not one of them. The service is very good, there are lots of positives to say about the service. Beyond that it stops. The interior the morning we were there, looked like the night crew didn't clean up. The booth was dirty and falling apart. The carpet had seen better days. Overall it just looked unkempt. That alone would be a 2 star. But it doesn't end here. Then there is the pricing of breakfast. Come on I know eggs and dairy have gone up but I think the prices are too high for what you get and it's breakfast for gosh sakes not dinner at a Michelin star restaurant. It's small but that feels just right for what they have going on. Each employee that we interacted with was so warm and inviting. You could see how comfortable each person in the restaurant was just by looking around. I ended up getting the standard breakfast. 2 scrambled eggs, sausage patties, hashbrowns, and a single pancake. I'm a big man, and I got through about HALF the food because the protons are STELLAR. On top of that, it was GOOD! The other members of my party for a variation of that and one of the omelets. Everyone at the table left that space full and happy aha. All of the food was good that we had. All of it. I would go back to Washington specifically just for this, tbh. I have been wanting to try this place for breakfast for a while and came to order to-go on Fathers Day which thinking about it...wasn't a great decision so the 45 minute wait wasn't too bad considering how small it is. It's a small ma and pop dinner with retro look. I ordered a couple of buttermilk pancakes and fried potatoes. The pancakes were big, nice, thick and fluffy with a savory taste that I don't think was intentional? I noticed both pancakes had some shredded hash browns caked on both pancakes. Silverware wrapped in paper bags...thank you for that. Pricing steep for your basic breakfast. I had bacon and eggs with hash browns/toast. Hubby had eggs Benedict I believe. Normal stuff but food was nothing special. Pretty much regretted dining there. Approximately $45 for two. I get it staff, rent, food but.....nothing in the experience worth the price.
