[[HIGHLIGHT]]Pacific Southern is one of those spots where you instantly feel at home. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is full of comfort food favorites with a Southern influence -- hearty portions, rich flavors, and just the right touch of Pacific Northwest flair. The fried chicken and greens are the stars here -- crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The cornbread is fresh and perfect with their house-made jam or gravy. Service is attentive and laid-back, which fits the vibe perfectly. The food cooked fresh but it's worth the wait. If you're in Tacoma and craving a great brunch or soul food-style meal done with care, Pacific Southern hits all the right notes. Delicious food, friendly people, and that comforting "Sunday morning" feeling any day of the week. We stopped by and carried a chicken meal home.

3.5 stars, to be clear. This is a restaurant that sells southern comfort food but a small selection of it. Shrimp n grits, chicken n waffles, fried okra, etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is kind of dive bar-ish.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music from the bar was soooo loud we had to yell talk, which was kind of funny.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And there was a birthday party IN THE BAR for a child. Which was also funny.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all enjoyed our food and the portions were huge. Apparently the pulled pork sandwich was super spicy which the menu did not specify, so be careful there.

My Cousin and I decided to go have Dinner. We decided on eating Southern food. We drove to Tacoma from Seattle. We decided on Pacific Southern. Food: we ordered the Shrimp and Grits. I ordered the Sweet Tea and she ordered the Cherry Lemonade. We both ordered sides, I ordered the Chivken Sausage and she ordered Scrambled Eggs and Bacon. The Shrimp and Grits were Delicious and my Sweet Tea was very good. My cousin liked her Cherry Lemonade. The portions are huge and we both counted over 7 Shrimp in our Grits. The Customer Service was excellent. Greeted with smiles and good conversation. The waitress was prompt with our orders. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Restaurant was very clean and neat. The Bathroom was very clean as well[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Parking was Great, we were able to park up front. I will definitely go back to this Restaurant.

The size is definitely smaller when you order it for delivery but for the size I did get it was quality good. Just definitely smaller. Did t get any honey or utensils as requested on Uber. Also I was looking for sweet tea to add but on Uber they only have canned energy drinks but I'm person you can get soda or sweet tea so that was disappointing

Whilst waiting for the Tacoma Mall to open we found there wasn't anything open at the mall other than Krispy Kreme, so we had to forage for brunch. A few minutes away was Pacific Southern. Wish I weren't on keto because their southern style brunch items looked delicious (I'd kill to try their cheesy shrimp grits). Sis and I settled on splitting a meat lovers omelette with veggies and Mom got the biscuits and gravy with grits and both plates were huge. Glad sis and I split that omelette because eating just half was filling. It was stuffed with ham and bacon, fulfilling the promise of the name, but the bacon was a bit dry. Still we left satisfied. Our waitress was nice, but just checked in on us once. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was busy for a Saturday morning, but not crowded, so the noise level and space was just right.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The building itself looks sketchy and isn't as clean as I would like.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, the service was good and the food was fine.

I had the meat lovers omelette. It was huge! I had to split it with my sister. It was delicious and the staff were really friendly. They were more than happy to accommodate my keto request and subbed veggies for the hashbrowns and toast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Must go again and try other items in their menu list!

Why is there no amazing breakfast places in the PNW!! I am searching and waiting to go some where that knocks my socks off, you would think good breakfast food wouldn't be so hard to find! We ordered 3 dishes with high hopes. Maybe my standards are too high?! We had the chicken and waffles, that was probably the best out of the 3, the Pacsouth omelette and the fried chicken biscuit. It was all just "OK", the grits were awful though, they were suppose to be cheesy grits but they literally had no flavor. I wouldn't go back myself. The server that helped us was really nice, that was the plus!!

If you're in the mood for Southern food in Tacoma, this is the place to go. However, it is a bit expensive so be prepared. The service is outstanding! They were quick, efficient, and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is that of a restaurant with a bar area in the back. The music was great and not too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is totally separate from the restaurant seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restrooms (while dated) are clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The catfish was great as well as the red beans and rice. The cornbread was good. The chicken was fantastic and had an herbal flavor. The okra was good despite a few woody pieces. The collard greens were fantastic! All in all, for me, this is the place for southern food in Tacoma. Just be sure to bring your wallet with a bit larger dinner budget than normal.

Second time trying this place out since the first time was a disappointment, thought the second time would be a little different but we were wrong. Despite making eye contacts with the staff, and waiting at the front counter, no staff members acknowledged us or even a "we will be right with you". Ordered a chicken fried steak and a breakfast steak (8oz ribeye). Not an exaggeration but we waited for 45 minutes for the food to come out. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely not. Chicken fried steak was decent, hashbrown was soggy and the scrambled eggs was dry and overcooked. The "ribeye" steak came out well done, tasted like dry cardboard, never have I ever left steak uneaten but today was the first. I ordered the steak medium rare, didn't expect a high quality steak since it's a breakfast joint but man was it inedible. Will not be returning, the mediocre food is not worth the wait.

The server was so sweet and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibes were calm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went in a Wednesday so it was not busy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the food was well seasoned, flavorful, and had my mouth watering. 10 out of 10 recommend.

On our most recent visit we tried the nachos, and they were honestly the best nachos I've ever had. The cheese sauce is amazing- not some gross canned stuff. It's not cheap, but well worth it!

Dirty Oscar's Annex - Disappointing Experience on 6th Ave…read more We came in as a group of seven, and unfortunately the experience went downhill quickly. First, the service was poor and disorganized. One of my friends arrived early and ordered her drink, but it didn't arrive until after I had already received mine -- even after she asked twice. We also had to wait far too long for basic things like napkins and forks because we weren't given enough for everyone. The most frustrating part, however, was the automatic gratuity. At no point were we informed -- verbally or on the menu -- that parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We only discovered it by carefully reviewing our checks. And to make matters worse, the so-called "20%" was not actually 20%. It came out to 24.1%. When we questioned it, the person who said she was the manager claimed "the computer does it automatically." We are a table full of teachers -- and the math was definitely not mathing. We understand and respect gratuity for large parties, especially when the service is great or when it's clearly communicated. But charging more than the stated percentage crosses from poor service into a billing integrity issue. To add to the frustration, there is also a credit card processing fee, which again was not clearly disclosed on the menu and only appeared at the bottom of the receipt. This absolutely should be visibly posted before ordering. They did offer to refund some of the charges, but we declined because it would have taken additional time and we had an event to get to -- and more importantly, it doesn't resolve the core issue of lack of transparency. She also gave each of us a $10 gift card, but again, that doesn't resolve the issue. And honestly, what good is a gift card if we don't plan on returning because of such an awful experience? Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, and not one we would recommend based on service and transparency alone.

My last review was honest but a 1star- now they could have ignored it, denied it or even got rude about it- after all others have (see aspen house) But no, they reached out and asked to open up dialogue- they asked what could be done and they APOLOGIZED- ownership and accountability! The communication was on point and the definitely made good on everything! So we set out to give it another go- and seriously- I may have a new place to hang out! As a non drinker your average joint has water juice or soda- not here The selection of non alcoholic beers and the DELICIOUS MOCKTAILS!!!! A place that doesn't get upset when you order a fancy non alcoholic drink- and you get the feel of being a part of it all not just sippin a soda! Loooved ! Personally hooked on the sweet n tangy- (Sweet & Tangy DHOS Orange, lemon & lime juice, simple, & raspberry puree ) ---delicious! My partner tried a couple non alcoholic beers he didn't even know existed- excellent variety to make everyone feel a part of the crowd!! And if you love a good drink?? They only carry high end liquor and make their drinks definitely top notch! The kind of place that values quality!!! While keeping the prices competitive and honest! Now the food- BRIE- ohhhh the Brie dishes!!! Not many places create food art- creative delicious classic combos with a unique twist! Absolutely the place to check out and try a new dish! Unique items that I'm dying to go back for!!! One definitely to try-- "Apple Brie Grilled Cheese Apple chutney with caramelized onions, granny smith apple slices, brie & cheddar cheese, melted between parmesan crusted 3 Hearts Bread" yummmmmmm The best part though- the people- friendly outgoing crew that you can tell genuinely care about each other and also care about making sure that the people stopping by have a wonderful experience!!! If you're in the area or live near there- check them out- definitely the kinda place to stop in on the regular and make it a thing!!!! Can be smidge hard to find due to construction that should end soon but worth the hunt!!! A total Gem!! Good quality food, excellent service, and a 10/10 place to stop in! As we came with my best friend, who, by the way, was the reason why I finally stepped foot here, wait time wasn't long as she came about 5 minutes earlier than I. We came for brunch and it was busy but the wait was not bad at all. Finally got a chance to try it at noon today, and it was a great experience! Environment: The overall vibe is very American. There were TVs on the walls constantly playing various ball games, like today's playoff game between the Thunder and the Lakers. It was pretty busy on the weekend, especially the outdoor seating area, which was almost full. The building is an old structure dating back to the 1900s. Though it shows its age, it's very clean both inside and out--you can tell the owner really cares. Service: Our waitress was very, very friendly and professional. She gave us great recommendations, always served with a smile, checked in on us during the meal, and refilled our water. Very satisfied! Taste: Pizza: There's a funny little story: supposedly, Marco Polo went to China and saw pies, but didn't know how to wrap the filling inside, so he just put it on top--and thus the pizza was born. Personally, I think this is a myth, or many people have started fantasizing about Marco Polo because they think he was too great. But according to various unearthed historical records in China, Marco Polo never actually went to China. In fact, around 2010, more than 20 scholars organized an event called "Retracing Marco Polo's Route." After completing the journey and comparing it to what Marco Polo himself recorded, most of them concluded that he probably never made it to China. Sorry, I have a strong urge to share--went off on a long tangent about Marco Polo. But the pizza was really delicious. It should be truly fire‑baked, not oven‑baked. The sauce was well‑balanced, and the toppings were generous and fresh. My wife and I ate more than half of it! Salad: The dressing and cheese were very generously applied, and the greens were fresh. Chicken wings: They had a pleasant sweet‑savory taste, just right. Unlike most American restaurants where they're too salty or too sweet, these were perfectly balanced. All the dipping sauces were good. Overall, highly recommended!
