[[HIGHLIGHT]]Pacific Southern is one of those spots where you instantly feel at home. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is full of comfort food favorites with a Southern influence -- hearty portions, rich flavors, and just the right touch of Pacific Northwest flair. The fried chicken and greens are the stars here -- crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The cornbread is fresh and perfect with their house-made jam or gravy. Service is attentive and laid-back, which fits the vibe perfectly. The food cooked fresh but it's worth the wait. If you're in Tacoma and craving a great brunch or soul food-style meal done with care, Pacific Southern hits all the right notes. Delicious food, friendly people, and that comforting "Sunday morning" feeling any day of the week. We stopped by and carried a chicken meal home.

3.5 stars, to be clear. This is a restaurant that sells southern comfort food but a small selection of it. Shrimp n grits, chicken n waffles, fried okra, etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is kind of dive bar-ish.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music from the bar was soooo loud we had to yell talk, which was kind of funny.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And there was a birthday party IN THE BAR for a child. Which was also funny.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all enjoyed our food and the portions were huge. Apparently the pulled pork sandwich was super spicy which the menu did not specify, so be careful there.

My Cousin and I decided to go have Dinner. We decided on eating Southern food. We drove to Tacoma from Seattle. We decided on Pacific Southern. Food: we ordered the Shrimp and Grits. I ordered the Sweet Tea and she ordered the Cherry Lemonade. We both ordered sides, I ordered the Chivken Sausage and she ordered Scrambled Eggs and Bacon. The Shrimp and Grits were Delicious and my Sweet Tea was very good. My cousin liked her Cherry Lemonade. The portions are huge and we both counted over 7 Shrimp in our Grits. The Customer Service was excellent. Greeted with smiles and good conversation. The waitress was prompt with our orders. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Restaurant was very clean and neat. The Bathroom was very clean as well[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Parking was Great, we were able to park up front. I will definitely go back to this Restaurant.

The size is definitely smaller when you order it for delivery but for the size I did get it was quality good. Just definitely smaller. Did t get any honey or utensils as requested on Uber. Also I was looking for sweet tea to add but on Uber they only have canned energy drinks but I'm person you can get soda or sweet tea so that was disappointing

Whilst waiting for the Tacoma Mall to open we found there wasn't anything open at the mall other than Krispy Kreme, so we had to forage for brunch. A few minutes away was Pacific Southern. Wish I weren't on keto because their southern style brunch items looked delicious (I'd kill to try their cheesy shrimp grits). Sis and I settled on splitting a meat lovers omelette with veggies and Mom got the biscuits and gravy with grits and both plates were huge. Glad sis and I split that omelette because eating just half was filling. It was stuffed with ham and bacon, fulfilling the promise of the name, but the bacon was a bit dry. Still we left satisfied. Our waitress was nice, but just checked in on us once. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was busy for a Saturday morning, but not crowded, so the noise level and space was just right.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The building itself looks sketchy and isn't as clean as I would like.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, the service was good and the food was fine.

I had the meat lovers omelette. It was huge! I had to split it with my sister. It was delicious and the staff were really friendly. They were more than happy to accommodate my keto request and subbed veggies for the hashbrowns and toast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Must go again and try other items in their menu list!

Why is there no amazing breakfast places in the PNW!! I am searching and waiting to go some where that knocks my socks off, you would think good breakfast food wouldn't be so hard to find! We ordered 3 dishes with high hopes. Maybe my standards are too high?! We had the chicken and waffles, that was probably the best out of the 3, the Pacsouth omelette and the fried chicken biscuit. It was all just "OK", the grits were awful though, they were suppose to be cheesy grits but they literally had no flavor. I wouldn't go back myself. The server that helped us was really nice, that was the plus!!

If you're in the mood for Southern food in Tacoma, this is the place to go. However, it is a bit expensive so be prepared. The service is outstanding! They were quick, efficient, and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is that of a restaurant with a bar area in the back. The music was great and not too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is totally separate from the restaurant seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restrooms (while dated) are clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The catfish was great as well as the red beans and rice. The cornbread was good. The chicken was fantastic and had an herbal flavor. The okra was good despite a few woody pieces. The collard greens were fantastic! All in all, for me, this is the place for southern food in Tacoma. Just be sure to bring your wallet with a bit larger dinner budget than normal.

    "Medium rare ribeye"

Second time trying this place out since the first time was a disappointment, thought the second time would be a little different but we were wrong. Despite making eye contacts with the staff, and waiting at the front counter, no staff members acknowledged us or even a "we will be right with you". Ordered a chicken fried steak and a breakfast steak (8oz ribeye). Not an exaggeration but we waited for 45 minutes for the food to come out. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely not. Chicken fried steak was decent, hashbrown was soggy and the scrambled eggs was dry and overcooked. The "ribeye" steak came out well done, tasted like dry cardboard, never have I ever left steak uneaten but today was the first. I ordered the steak medium rare, didn't expect a high quality steak since it's a breakfast joint but man was it inedible. Will not be returning, the mediocre food is not worth the wait.

This food was being delicious. Everything was made to our liking. The server was so sweet and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibes were calm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went in a Wednesday so it was not busy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the food was well seasoned, flavorful, and had my mouth watering. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Such a cool 70s vibe! I loved all the decor and the ambience! My large group took a seat in the back near the swordfish and fireplace, which I loved!! I had a lemon drop, which was absolutely perfect. My only complaint came by the request of my two friends who are steadfast, "old-fashioned" drinkers. Their old fashions had some type of red flowers sprinkled in the drink. Every time they took a sip, they complained! I eventually went up to the bar at the end and they told us it was Bergamont! So perhaps if you'd like to stick to the classic, ask to skip the Bergamont- as it has a very strange texture when you're drinking the drink. Overall, really, really cool place!

At first glance it appears super tiny, but the bar goes back pretty far and is a good size. We got there before the nighttime crowds and managed to score the cozy couch in front of the fireplace in the back. It filled up quickly after that, though! The mood is moody and cozy, the perfect spot for making this apart of date night. I can't speak much to the food as we did not order any, but the menu is pretty elevated for a bar. I wouldn't say this place is divey at all, but the menu was still surprising. Service was good and they had a great selection of drinks. I got a hazy IPA (as per usual) and it was delicious! We also got a couple of shots here and absolutely adored the shot glasses they use. They look like tiny cocktail glasses! Overall we thought Holy Moly was a vibe and we will definitely include this in our 6th Ave rotation.

She made sure our table had plenty of water and always made sure our sips never went dry. My issue was the food. So to keep me safe I always order a side salad, but I needed a little protein so I also ordered some grilled chicken on the side with ranch dressing. Most of the way through my salad the started to turn in my stomach. Once the spicy chicken came out, I requested to send it back, due to the menu not specifying that the spicy chicken is only grilled chicken with Sriracha sauce poured it all over it. The menu specifies grilled with spices. Not true unfortunately. I decided to eat the grilled chicken that was plain and again my stomach started to turn. Recently stopped in here for a date night with the wife…read more We've been looking for a decent replacement ever since Tacoma lost the Rhein Haus. Since my wife is of German heritage, brats and kraut are a thing in our life. The menu here looked really good, so we stopped in our 29th anniversary. I will say, there is a parking lot across the street. For those who've been in the area for a while and remember past times, it used to be a used car lot Luckily I found an empty spot on the street right out front, so I grabbed it. But yeah, parking in this area can be tricky. Just be aware that there is the lot across the street on Puyallup Avenue, the entrance is from "Court A", which looks like an alley but is technically a road. Tacoma is fun like that. So let's talk food. We ordered the Brätzel, because my wife loves a good soft pretzel with some beer cheese. This one states that it's a beer cheese soup, and it was a bit thinner than a typical beer cheese. But it had a really good flavor. It was not gritty at all like some beer cheese can be (I'm looking at you Hops&Drops). I'm not a huge pretzel fan, but I will say that I tried a portion of it and enjoyed this one. The pretzel had a good flavor and the beer cheese soup was great. We also split the Landjäger / Käse Platte. Let's get one thing clear, this thing is bigger than it looks on the menu. There's a lot here. I'm really not sure exactly which of the four cheese were which. If you go by the description on the Käse Platte then it should be Bavaria Bleu Crème, Raclette, Emmentaler and Butterkäse. The Bleu Crème is easy to spot. The rest look similar really. But each had a unique flavor and all tasted absolutely wonderful. The cured beef and pork sausages were good, but the cheese stole the show here. We also shared the Berliner Platte for a main. Again, I can not stress this enough, there is A LOT of food here. the two of us had no chance of eating all this. This plate comes with the following sausages; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst as well as being served with sauerkraut and you get to pick two sides. We chose the Spätzle and Pommes (fries). All of this was amazing. The spicy sausage and the andouille were too spicy for my wife, but we knew that going in. If you have a group and are wanting to sample the many wursts here, I would highly recommend this plate. Now, let's talk service. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so great. Very friendly, very tentative, very good at her job. This was exactly the kind of service I look for when I go out to a restaurant. I don't want some tablet where I'm interacting with a faceless machine, I don't want a kiosk, I want a real person who engages with us and helps make our experience the best it can be, and this place gets it. The staff here is on point, they are good, they take good care of you and the experience made s want to come back. This place is for sure at the top of our list for German food here in Tacoma. If you have not been, you need to stop by. It's not big, it's not fancy, you'll drive right by it if you aren't paying attention. But this place is by far the perfect replacement for our missing sausage haus. We are so glad we stopped in.

As we arrived, we weren't sure if needed to seat ourselves but by the time we were about to look at a sign, a kind waitress let us know that we can seat ourselves anywhere and brought us menus. The interior of this place is huge and bright! They have plenty of seating inside and it looks like they do outdoor seating which is dog friendly. We were told that they will have days where they have musicians playing German music and that it attracts quite a large crowd. Our waitress Sara was hilarious, personable and did a great job of taking care of us. She really made the visit all the more memorable and fun! We did order a lot: Berliner Platter with chips and spatzle, Berliner Sliders with fries and a bratzel. We did not realize just how huge the portions were for everything, like the platter was going to be big but we weren't expecting the amount of food for other order. Everything tasted absolutely amazing though! We really enjoyed everything and they do not mess around with flavors cause you taste exactly what they advertised. The house made chips were also fantastic and probably some of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend and I are excited to return and definitely will be sharing this spot to others as we thought we had to drive to Leavenworth for good German food but it is closer to home than we thought!
