From the service to the food! This place was amazing! I got just the classic waffles and egg breakfast. I'm generally not someone who does all the fancy, but even these were to die for! Our neighboring table had the Dubai waffles and he was gushing over the taste! Bacon was cooked perfectly.. I used to go to waffle stop once a week but was recently diagnosed with celiac and haven't been in a while. I went in today and asked if I could do a gluten free waffle but order it with their summer special toppings (peaches) instead of miso and banana as I'm allergic, and was told no I said okay I'll just get the bacon avocado scramble then to which she asked me what kind of bread I'd like. I dead pan blinked and said, no bread... I'm gluten free I'm not sure if the staff is highly untrained in gluten allergies or what but I'm not sure why I couldn't sub a waffle topping and doubly unsure how you can be wait staff and not understand someone's allergies. Looking in an older part of Tacoma for breakfast and i found this place. Totally worth my time. Starting off parking was easy and it was FREE. Walking into the establishment it was well lit and the decor was simple but efficient. I was seated promptly and the menu and a glass of water so their after. It was a two sided menu, with a good variety for breakfast and lunch items too. I ordered breakfast. The service was consistent as my server did check on me and asked if I had any questions about the menu. I asked one and they were very polite explaining it. After my order showed up, I proceeded to eat it all. The combination of the eggs, tomatoes, bacon and cheese was equally satisfying and balanced. It was topped with Avocado slices ( slightly brown, but still good). The sourdough toast appeared to be from a freshly made loaf ( served with soft butter and raspberry jam) and the hash browns were cooked lightly. Overall this place will do well in this part of town. I can say without a doubt that Waffle Stop is a fantastic breakfast spot in Tacoma with a cozy and fun ambiance with the cutest cups and fun decor. That's why finding parking from their opening to closing hours can be pretty difficult as they are just that popular! They also have some of the best service in the city with everyone being professional and have such warm service. My boyfriend and I are suckers for their garlic parmesan waffle fries as well their herbed ranch, we get it literally every time we dine in. The waffles here are all good no matter which kind you get and there are so many different kinds. Their coffee and lemonades are great too, and they always have latte art on your coffee drinks which I love! I've only have had two minor complaints. One was finding an eggshell in my waffle when I brought home leftovers and I couldn't really do anything about that since I was at home. My other issue is that when you order online you get charged a bag fee even if you are ordering a drink and it took some time to get my drink. They were busy though so I wasn't upset as I get how hectic it is for everyone in the restaurant. I didn't receive a bag for my order so I just feel they should fix that in the system or offer the bag since I paid for it. Other than that, they are worth checking out! Wafflestop is exactly that. A place to stop for waffles. I got the bacon avocado omelette which looked tiny on an almost empty plate because I opted out of toast and hash browns. Mom got the South of the Border which was a huge plate with all the fixings. I've been here before so I can vouch for the waffles, but couldn't try them this time. Too bad I've changed my ways because otherwise I'd smash that cookie butter chai latte. If you're keto or going low carb like me, skip the hash browns and potato and they'll throw in a strip of bacon. It looks pathetic compared to what you get if you take the hash brown and toast, but it's something? They need more low carb side options. Fun little place right in the heart of the Procter district. We went during the week about 10:30 so were seated immediately although there were a good number of people eating. Our server was there promptly to take our drink order as well as our food order. Think she was the only one there but she was pretty efficient. Both of us got the wake and waffle which came with our choice of waffle, we got the buttermilk, hash browns, 2 eggs any style and hash browns. The Mess Haul is definitely a shareable plate and was my favorite out of the two plates we ordered. This plate was like biscuits and gravy minus the biscuits because they use waffles. The gravy was tasty and had a great amount of bacon. The Luscious Lemon Blueberry was very sweet and the berries were delicious. The pearl waffle was a little dense, but not bad. One thing that I would say was a negative was that we were told 15-30 mins but we waited about 50 minutes and that there were 3 parties in front of us even though on my friends phone it said there were "0 minutes" left. The host mentioned the system isn't the best. It was fine as we killed time looking at the stores around. We got the text that it's "waffle time" which was pretty funny. Both orders were good but the fried chicken was my favorite. They give you two slabs of fried chicken breast coated with spicy breading. Topped that with hot honey syrup. The chicken was very moist and goes so well with the waffle. One thing I wish I got more were the waffles. It sadly only came with one small waffle. The ratio of chicken to waffle does not add up... Our Waitress was very patient with our granddaughter as she was distracted by all the colorful pencils she received to draw with on the menu, but she finally figured it out. Our coffee was good and refilled often. Grrkid got a divine hot cocoa which she wanted more but we had to limit. The decorations and ambiance were cute and waffle themed, but a lot of the seating there was half chair half booths which I don't prefer. We ordered the French press to start, which I had never had but was pretty good, but I would recommend asking for extra cream or for some flavored syrup just because it was a little bland. I ordered the Bacon Overboard and my boyfriend ordered the Wake N Waffle with a buttermilk waffle. I was worried that the bacon and waffle combo wouldn't be great together but with the bacon syrup it was amazing. I love bacon so it was one of the best waffles I've ever had. The only reason I took off a star was because the service was a little strange, and there was only one men's and one women's room and there was someone in the women's room the whole time I was dining so it was really inconvenient. We were assured that there was about a 25 minute wait although the text we received estimated about 40 minutes. It was a nice day so we walked around and checked out some of the shops in the area. I decided on the Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffle, and my friend opted for the Fried Chicken and Egg Bowl. It didn't take too long for the food to come out. It was hot and fresh. The chicken was nicely breaded and crisp, but being Nashville Hot Chicken it didn't have flavor or heat that I would expect for it to have. It was actually pretty bland. Even the "habanero hot sauce" that came with it was not packing a punch of heat, or habanero flavor. The ranch was good, but not great. The waffle was good. I think if I were to order Chicken and Waffles again, I would go with the Original. My friend enjoyed her choice, to me the gravy consistency looked a little off--like grainy. I am sure it was sitting in a warmer for quite some time which could have contributed to the offish appearance. They do offer a Military/Police discount (on food only) and have a loyalty program as well. We would return to try more of the menu. read more
