VERRY BERRY MEDLEY
Sophia W.

Food was great - I got the combo plate which includes a meat, eggs how you want, hash browns, and a waffle (upgraded to a fancy waffle). The very berry medley waffle was amazing! Great flavor, not too coated to berry/berry sauce so it was not mushy. Apple sausage patty's tasted homemade and were great. My original coffee, a dirty chai, was... not good. Had to sub for a drip coffee. Service was terrible, had to ask for everything including condiments, water and even silverware as we sat there trying to flag someone down to be able to eat our food. Restaurant was not full and yet the waitress wouldn't even look at us, give us time to ask for anything, and was taking selfies behind the counter. My husband got the southern waffle, super dry regular waffle, confused why it was "southern".

Breakfast.... Yum

Looking in an older part of Tacoma for breakfast and i found this place. Totally worth my time. Starting off parking was easy and it was FREE. Walking into the establishment it was well lit and the decor was simple but efficient. I was seated promptly and the menu and a glass of water so their after. It was a two sided menu, with a good variety for breakfast and lunch items too. I ordered breakfast. The service was consistent as my server did check on me and asked if I had any questions about the menu. I asked one and they were very polite explaining it. After my order showed up, I proceeded to eat it all. The combination of the eggs, tomatoes, bacon and cheese was equally satisfying and balanced. It was topped with Avocado slices ( slightly brown, but still good). The sourdough toast appeared to be from a freshly made loaf ( served with soft butter and raspberry jam) and the hash browns were cooked lightly. Overall this place will do well in this part of town. Yes, I would return again. Good service, good selection and great prices too!!

PERFECTLY MADE WAFFLES!!! Service was very busy going on a Sunday afternoon. We had to wait a few minutes for a table but once we were seated, we weren't forgotten. They checked in a good amount of times. The atmosphere doesn't give off old diner vibes but one that's bright, clean and cheerful. ALSO so thankful they were able to accommodate my son's allergies! They cooked his meal on a separate pan to avoid cross contamination. 10/10!

I have visited Waffle Stop a few times and I swear I thought I left a review but better now then never right? I can say without a doubt that Waffle Stop is a fantastic breakfast spot in Tacoma with a cozy and fun ambiance with the cutest cups and fun decor. That's why finding parking from their opening to closing hours can be pretty difficult as they are just that popular! They also have some of the best service in the city with everyone being professional and have such warm service. My boyfriend and I are suckers for their garlic parmesan waffle fries as well their herbed ranch, we get it literally every time we dine in. The waffles here are all good no matter which kind you get and there are so many different kinds. Their coffee and lemonades are great too, and they always have latte art on your coffee drinks which I love! I've only have had two minor complaints. One was finding an eggshell in my waffle when I brought home leftovers and I couldn't really do anything about that since I was at home. My other issue is that when you order online you get charged a bag fee even if you are ordering a drink and it took some time to get my drink. They were busy though so I wasn't upset as I get how hectic it is for everyone in the restaurant. I didn't receive a bag for my order so I just feel they should fix that in the system or offer the bag since I paid for it. Other than that, they are worth checking out! They also have a great rewards program and you can buy their amazing ranch to bring home or buy their cups!

OMG this was the most fun experience since I rode the Skydiver at the Carnival. Food was delicious. Saw a Kevin Spacey doppelgänger (Usual Suspects KS) and then there was Cole. He made the visit most memorable. Loved our server Christi too. Traveled all the way from Boston and would do it again.

GARLIC PARMESAN FRIES LATTE

Came here for brunch and this spot did not disappoint! I tried their waffle parm fries which was LOADED. I tried their strawberry banana Nutella waffle. It was so gooood. The texture of the waffle was crunch on the outside and just right in the inside. I will def be back here for more!

Food was delicious however I am only giving it 4 stars due to the fact that three of us ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle and not a single one was spicy. They also stated that unless we wanted to wait 25 minutes 2 out of 3 of us would need to get the regular waffle (which tastes perfectly fine so it didn't impact my score). Either way, make reservations ahead of time if coming for brunch as it gets pretty busy.

I wanted to love this breakfast spot. It was my first time here. I got the strawberry Nutella waffles. My waffle was super dry and hard to eat, but my coworkers got the regular waffles and they were better. My iced coffee was just ok nothing amazing.

The chicken on the Nashville hot chicken and waffles were out of this world good- the breading stayed on and the chicken was perfectly thin and moist. I'm mad that we didn't come sooner on our trip. The waffle was a little tough/over done BUT if you want a bangin waffle, get the buckwheat protein waffle - absolutely delicious and you are doing a good thing for your body! I don't know if they add anything to their OJ but it was nicely sweet so it paired well with the chicken. Also they do have regular or sugar free syrup as I'm not the biggest fan of hot honey.

SOUTH OF THE BORDER SCRAMBLE

Wafflestop is exactly that. A place to stop for waffles. I got the bacon avocado omelette which looked tiny on an almost empty plate because I opted out of toast and hash browns. Mom got the South of the Border which was a huge plate with all the fixings. I've been here before so I can vouch for the waffles, but couldn't try them this time. Too bad I've changed my ways because otherwise I'd smash that cookie butter chai latte. If you're keto or going low carb like me, skip the hash browns and potato and they'll throw in a strip of bacon. It looks pathetic compared to what you get if you take the hash brown and toast, but it's something? They need more low carb side options. I like how they go the opposite of diners like Dennys, who give you a small cup and it takes you awhile to get a refill, by giving you a big mug of coffee that you probably won't need refills. I didn't at least Weekdays are nice because I'm here at the crunching hour and it's busy, but there are plenty of tables. Forgot about it on weekends.

We love this place. Everything we have ordered has always been great, the staff are usually friendly, and overall the atmosphere is what you would expect from a breakfast place. We really enjoy the varieties of waffles and accompaniments. Their coffee is good, and they offer some great espresso options. As some other reviewers mention, there is often a long wait, but it's worth it!

Burnt bacon. I flipped over the waffle to show how overdone it is.

Ask the Community - Waffle Stop

Do they have high chairs?

Yes

Any vegan options? Red Elm and a few other places make fantastic waffles, but another option would be great!

Toast, with wonderful raspberry jam, delicious hashbrowns. Otherwise there's dairy in the waffles, eggs are eggs. No vegan options for bacon on this planet can compare to real bacon. The Waffle Shop is unlikely to carry tofu cakes or plant-based…

Is there usual a wait for seating?

I've been twice (both on Sunday) depending upon the group size it seems to be 10-20 minute waits

Is there prices? I wanna see some prices before I make that drive.

The price range was $9-$17 from what I saw today. But well worth it. Quality ingredients and taste and portions! We're from Seattle but this is the only place I wanna go for breakfast now even though it's a 30-45 minute drive defending on traffic.

Do you happen to have anything that would work for a vegan for breakfast?

Berry oatmeal with oat or almond milk, toast & raspberry jam, fantastic hashbrowns.

Any updates on a gluten free waffle option?

Nope. They "don't have the freezer space." So their "plans" won't be in effect any time soon it appears.

I see no phone number. Does this mean you don't take reservations? Is there usually a long wait if "no?"

Hello Stacie! I’m sorry our phone number isn’t showing up! Our number is (253) 267-5026. We take reservations for parties of 6 or larger. Usually we do have a wait between 10-30 minutes on the weekend for a party of four. Otherwise, you are safe to…

Any plans to offer gluten free waffles in the near future? :)

Hello Marie! Thank you for asking! Yes, it is something we plan on looking into. It is our most requested item!

Does the Nashville chicken come al carte and in something besides a breast?

According to the servers answer, this is their style of chicken and waffle.

Everything felt thoughtful, well prepared, and worth coming back for. Service Our server was so kind and welcoming. We had a couple of moments where we saw dishes being brought to other tables and asked, "Wait, what was that?" and they were more than happy to answer our questions and tell us about everything. Very friendly, attentive service without feeling overbearing. Atmosphere The inside has such a relaxed, vintage bistro feel that makes it really easy to sit back and enjoy brunch. There's also outdoor seating with heaters and a tented area, so they're definitely prepared for Washington weather. I only wish it hadn't been so foggy when we went because the view would have made the experience even better. We were sat by a window where a heater fireplace was, still a best of both worlds when seated inside. I was watching the clock. Not sure if my waitress was distracted or if this was just a one off but I won't be able to find out. There are heaters on the back porch so although It was rainy It wasn't too chilly. There are blankets on the back of each chair but however, not sure what the cleaning protocols are for the blankets. The specials are not on the menu so everything is word of mouth. The quiche of the day was not described as having a balsamic drizzle included and is not made fresh, but instead at least the day before? The mocktail is $14. This was a disappointing $50 brunch and I was still hungry.

I ordered the country fried steak (my usual at the Puyallup location), but I was unhappy with it. When I tried to cut it, the breading came off and showed this dark, jerky like piece of meat. If I had it again I'd ask to add a squirt of bbq inside or ask for more sauce on top. Hubby ordered the Shrimp and Grits. They were great and better than most places we've had them out. Hubby crumbled his side of bacon on top. They were Creamy, savory, cheesy and served piping hot. Jenny said sometimes people ask to add andouille sausage or catfish on top.
