Breakfast.... Yum
Mike A.

Looking in an older part of Tacoma for breakfast and i found this place. Totally worth my time. Starting off parking was easy and it was FREE. Walking into the establishment it was well lit and the decor was simple but efficient. I was seated promptly and the menu and a glass of water so their after. It was a two sided menu, with a good variety for breakfast and lunch items too. I ordered breakfast. The service was consistent as my server did check on me and asked if I had any questions about the menu. I asked one and they were very polite explaining it. After my order showed up, I proceeded to eat it all. The combination of the eggs, tomatoes, bacon and cheese was equally satisfying and balanced. It was topped with Avocado slices ( slightly brown, but still good). The sourdough toast appeared to be from a freshly made loaf ( served with soft butter and raspberry jam) and the hash browns were cooked lightly. Overall this place will do well in this part of town. Yes, I would return again. Good service, good selection and great prices too!!

I have visited Waffle Stop a few times and I swear I thought I left a review but better now then never right? I can say without a doubt that Waffle Stop is a fantastic breakfast spot in Tacoma with a cozy and fun ambiance with the cutest cups and fun decor. That's why finding parking from their opening to closing hours can be pretty difficult as they are just that popular! They also have some of the best service in the city with everyone being professional and have such warm service. My boyfriend and I are suckers for their garlic parmesan waffle fries as well their herbed ranch, we get it literally every time we dine in. The waffles here are all good no matter which kind you get and there are so many different kinds. Their coffee and lemonades are great too, and they always have latte art on your coffee drinks which I love! I've only have had two minor complaints. One was finding an eggshell in my waffle when I brought home leftovers and I couldn't really do anything about that since I was at home. My other issue is that when you order online you get charged a bag fee even if you are ordering a drink and it took some time to get my drink. They were busy though so I wasn't upset as I get how hectic it is for everyone in the restaurant. I didn't receive a bag for my order so I just feel they should fix that in the system or offer the bag since I paid for it. Other than that, they are worth checking out! They also have a great rewards program and you can buy their amazing ranch to bring home or buy their cups!

PERFECTLY MADE WAFFLES!!! Service was very busy going on a Sunday afternoon. We had to wait a few minutes for a table but once we were seated, we weren't forgotten. They checked in a good amount of times. The atmosphere doesn't give off old diner vibes but one that's bright, clean and cheerful. ALSO so thankful they were able to accommodate my son's allergies! They cooked his meal on a separate pan to avoid cross contamination. 10/10!

GARLIC PARMESAN FRIES LATTE

Came here for brunch and this spot did not disappoint! I tried their waffle parm fries which was LOADED. I tried their strawberry banana Nutella waffle. It was so gooood. The texture of the waffle was crunch on the outside and just right in the inside. I will def be back here for more!

Food was delicious however I am only giving it 4 stars due to the fact that three of us ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle and not a single one was spicy. They also stated that unless we wanted to wait 25 minutes 2 out of 3 of us would need to get the regular waffle (which tastes perfectly fine so it didn't impact my score). Either way, make reservations ahead of time if coming for brunch as it gets pretty busy.

The chicken on the Nashville hot chicken and waffles were out of this world good- the breading stayed on and the chicken was perfectly thin and moist. I'm mad that we didn't come sooner on our trip. The waffle was a little tough/over done BUT if you want a bangin waffle, get the buckwheat protein waffle - absolutely delicious and you are doing a good thing for your body! I don't know if they add anything to their OJ but it was nicely sweet so it paired well with the chicken. Also they do have regular or sugar free syrup as I'm not the biggest fan of hot honey.

SOUTH OF THE BORDER SCRAMBLE

Wafflestop is exactly that. A place to stop for waffles. I got the bacon avocado omelette which looked tiny on an almost empty plate because I opted out of toast and hash browns. Mom got the South of the Border which was a huge plate with all the fixings. I've been here before so I can vouch for the waffles, but couldn't try them this time. Too bad I've changed my ways because otherwise I'd smash that cookie butter chai latte. If you're keto or going low carb like me, skip the hash browns and potato and they'll throw in a strip of bacon. It looks pathetic compared to what you get if you take the hash brown and toast, but it's something? They need more low carb side options. I like how they go the opposite of diners like Dennys, who give you a small cup and it takes you awhile to get a refill, by giving you a big mug of coffee that you probably won't need refills. I didn't at least Weekdays are nice because I'm here at the crunching hour and it's busy, but there are plenty of tables. Forgot about it on weekends.

We love this place. Everything we have ordered has always been great, the staff are usually friendly, and overall the atmosphere is what you would expect from a breakfast place. We really enjoy the varieties of waffles and accompaniments. Their coffee is good, and they offer some great espresso options. As some other reviewers mention, there is often a long wait, but it's worth it!

Burnt bacon. I flipped over the waffle to show how overdone it is.
Stephanie H.

This is the second time I've come here and been served okay food. The first time it was just bland. This time it was burned. I ordered the French toast combo waffle and I'm going to assume it needed to be a little more done than other waffles. I "upgraded" my bacon to maple glazed bacon and it came to me burnt. Not sure how they thought it was acceptable to serve over done food. I ordered the eggs over medium and they were UNDERdone to the point the whites were barely cooked. I don't think I'll be back.

Nicely done good flavors

Well what can I say. Parking was a bit hard to find,. But we managed an up front spot. Ordered Mexican spiced coffee and chicken and waffle bowl. Well lit atmosphere. A bit on the warm side but Alaska man so.... Fam order an avacado scramble without the tomato and a tea. I would return and try a few more things.

Hucky K.

Pros: nice selection of sweet and savory food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, good waffle and I love the maple glazed bacon, the restaurant is located in a cute neighborhood Cons: very sugary, not the most healthy food you can choose to fuel your body. Waiting staff is inconsistent. Some are helpful and nice, but a some are the opposite.

Wake and waffle

Fun little place right in the heart of the Procter district. We went during the week about 10:30 so were seated immediately although there were a good number of people eating. Our server was there promptly to take our drink order as well as our food order. Think she was the only one there but she was pretty efficient. Both of us got the wake and waffle which came with our choice of waffle, we got the buttermilk, hash browns, 2 eggs any style and hash browns. I didn't need the hash browns and they were a bit over cooked, but the eggs were well cooked, the bacon crispy and the waffle very tasty. The food came out quickly and no one minded that we sat and visited after paying our bill. Certainly worth the trip, especially given the prices are very affordable.

While visiting Tacoma, we decided to give the Waffle Stop a try and glad we did. My wife and I ordered the Mess Haul and Luscious Lemon Blueberry. The Mess Haul is definitely a shareable plate and was my favorite out of the two plates we ordered. This plate was like biscuits and gravy minus the biscuits because they use waffles. The gravy was tasty and had a great amount of bacon. The Luscious Lemon Blueberry was very sweet and the berries were delicious. The pearl waffle was a little dense, but not bad. The waitress was very kind and attentive. This restaurant had a fun vibe and would definitely recommend you try it.

As we came with my best friend, who, by the way, was the reason why I finally stepped foot here, wait time wasn't long as she came about 5 minutes earlier than I. We came for brunch and it was busy but the wait was not bad at all. The both of us ordered the same items on the menu from both the drinks, the main and dessert - a sangria, Shakshuka with lamb, and beignets. We also brought our daughters with us. They ordered a cheeseburger with a side of caesar salad and a mac n cheese dish from the kids menu. Our orders were delicious, although I was expecting the shakshuka dish to be heftier. For the price - $17. xx with an additional $4 to add lamb - it was a little disappointing, to be honest, especially since it was lacking in the lamb department. I was still hungry but thankfully I had my 4 year old's leftover cheeseburger and salad to fill me right up. As for the beignets, it was good. I don't have anything to compare it to since I don't know what an actual beignet tastes like. Would I return? Sure.

First, the service was poor and disorganized. One of my friends arrived early and ordered her drink, but it didn't arrive until after I had already received mine -- even after she asked twice. We also had to wait far too long for basic things like napkins and forks because we weren't given enough for everyone. The most frustrating part, however, was the automatic gratuity. At no point were we informed -- verbally or on the menu -- that parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We only discovered it by carefully reviewing our checks. And to make matters worse, the so-called "20%" was not actually 20%. It came out to 24.1%. When we questioned it, the person who said she was the manager claimed "the computer does it automatically." We are a table full of teachers -- and the math was definitely not mathing. We understand and respect gratuity for large parties, especially when the service is great or when it's clearly communicated. But charging more than the stated percentage crosses from poor service into a billing integrity issue. To add to the frustration, there is also a credit card processing fee, which again was not clearly disclosed on the menu and only appeared at the bottom of the receipt. This absolutely should be visibly posted before ordering. They did offer to refund some of the charges, but we declined because it would have taken additional time and we had an event to get to -- and more importantly, it doesn't resolve the core issue of lack of transparency. She also gave each of us a $10 gift card, but again, that doesn't resolve the issue. And honestly, what good is a gift card if we don't plan on returning because of such an awful experience? Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, and not one we would recommend based on service and transparency alone.

First, my apologies. I was catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while so forgot to take…read morepics. Nonetheless my review is detailed and honest. My first time at West 122 as I had been wanting to try this for months. Here's the positives... Love the brick and mortar ambiance inside. It just had an overall good community vibe. Presentation of food was beautiful. What else we experienced... My friend ordered a Sprite and I ordered a cocktail. She was served a lemonade and my drink was pretty sour so I ordered some simple syrup. The Sprite came but it took 20 minutes to get my simple syrup. By that time I was sort of over having a cocktail. Honestly, the venue was not full and all I wanted was some simple syrup in a shot glass. We ordered the burrata, caesar salad and the special with the octopus tentacles, asparagus, peppers and capers over polenta. The caesar salad on the menu lists "red gem lettuce tossed in house-made caesar dressing, topped with bread crumbs and shaved parmigiano reggiano. While I liked the idea of not having croutons as they're sometimes difficult to maneuver with a biteful of salad, there must have been a quarter cup of bread crumbs over the top, so much so that you couldn't even see what was underneath. Next, the menu describes the burrata as "creamy burrata with pea vines, roasted peas, pickled asparagus, and artichoke." When it arrived, we were truly wondering if we had ordered the right thing. Only until we moved the sea of greens did we see the burrata. Nowhere on the menu did it mention that we were actually ordering a salad with burrata underneath. Very unfortunate and misleading because my friend ordered the Caesar for dinner and didn't know she was actually getting a second salad. In addition, we ordered the baguette with butter/oil and what came to us for $11 or some rather non descript rolls. The octopus special was the star of the show. The colors, flavors, char on the octopus...everything except that it was surrounded by a fair amount of paprika oil, so much so that I had to work around it in order to not give my stomach a run for my money later in the evening. A dish I wanted to finish but just couldn't because of that issue. In addition to that, refills of water were non-existent and it took close to 50 minutes to get our dinner. Also, our waitperson was very pleasant but seemed rather overwhelmed. Even after waiting 15 minutes for the simple syrup, when she finally did bring it, she looked surprised that I no longer wanted it. Yes, she took it off the bill, but I would have much rather enjoyed one of the specialties of the house. So many mishaps that didn't need to occur. Truly disappointed that our evening went that way.

The restaurant was already busy right when they opened, so I definitely recommend making reservations in advance. Even with how packed it was, the service was warm, attentive, and everything came out beautifully paced. The food was incredible across the board. The chicken schnitzel is always my go-to and my mom completely understood the hype; crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with the slaw and rice. The scallops were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, and the burrata bread pudding appetizer was such a standout that the whole table was talking about it. We also tried the tapioca dessert (not pictured) and I already know I'll be ordering it again next time. One of those places that manages to feel lively and trendy while still being comfortable and welcoming. Great food, great atmosphere, and consistently one of my favorite dinner spots in the city.

They have relocated onto Broadway now to a larger location. There was a line to get in! Perhaps 30 to 40 were waiting when we arrived. Reservation are HIGHLY recommended. At 5 the doors opened and the hostess with the help of other staff got everybody in and seated in a quick and timely manner. The food was excellent! Sam our server made sure we had everything to enjoy our experience at their establishment. Crafted cocktails a Hugo Spritz & a paperplane were perfectly mixed. Finally for dinner we both had a chicken sandwich plus crispy fries to complete a memorable experience! Yes we will def be back! Thanks for ALWAYS making our dining experience a great one!

I will address two concerns I had first and then get to the good stuff. My only marks on negative side of the ledger may only apply to a few folks. The on street parking on MLK Way can be tough to find and there is lots of local traffic including Sound Transit street train. We got very lucky and found two spots just three businesses down. My second concern is the metal chairs used for dining are not a good fit for my 3x body, and can be uncomfortable rather quickly. Most regular folks will have no problems. All of the menu items which is why you come to Three Hearts were absolutely fabulous. We enjoyed some pastries, muffins, croissants and coffee before getting to our breakfast choices. The breakfast sandwiches, savory Dutch baby, quiche all received high marks. The service was friendly and quick even though they were busy and cook things fresh when you order. Check out their menu for the unique combinations of ingredients and variety of dishes. This is a place you really need to put on your bucket list!

I tried the savory egg sandwich which was good. I wish it had mire garlic aioli and pickled onions to give it a bolder flavor. The cruffins were my favorite! They're $6 each and I preferred the lemon curd one over the matcha one. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Street parking can be challenging, so be prepared to walk a little.
