Nice small spot with big demand. We placed ourself on the waitlist to asure we could get seated. Guest services was attentive on this not so busy Sunday. A place known for the waffles. I'm not a waffle fans, but I still have an opinion. Regular waffle was delicious however the waffle I got with whip cream was a bit over cooked. It was hard, unless that's the way they suppose to be. I wasn't impressed. The whip cream was good. I wonder if its homemade. Its also needing to be said lately. These serve real bacon! The food was good. The mimosa of choice was really tasty. read more

On a Thursday afternoon, I was still anticipating a crowd after reading reviews- but I was pleasantly surprised by it not being busy! It is in such a cute location, and its decor and color-theming is fantastic, sincerely one of the most adorable restaurants I've been to. It's picturesque and I only mourned that I hadn't taken my friends here. The waitstaff were so friendly, and even sat across from me to help me over the menu and answered my questions honestly and with love for the food they make. I ordered a simple drip coffee (they have a deal of French press for two, so if you have a date in Tacoma- TAKE THEM HERE), and the mini mess hall. The coffee is Café D'arte, which is roasted locally in Federal Way and served in these adorable branded mugs. The china is just as cute as the rest of the restaurant! The mini mess haul. Oh my god. The first bite almost made me cry. The waffle is crisp, hashbrowns perfect and hot, the bacon is layered under and on top of the gravy, and the gravy is superb(not to mention the eggs are done to your preference). The food came out quickly and was nice and hot, and it was just what I needed after work. All in all, 5/5 on every front. This place exceeded my expectations, even after spending all day thinking about it and how good it would be. This place is a must-visit in Tacoma! read more

Absolutely love this place. I go to events at the Tacoma Dome about twice a year and I ALWAYS have to stop here. I live in the Everett area and I think a waffle stop here would do very well (wink wink). I have taken multiple friends out to eat here and everyone loves it too. The Nashville Chicken and Waffles with a side of habanero sauce is my go to. It never disappoints and I eat the entire thing. Seriously the best chicken and waffles I've ever tried. The staff is always friendly too. Really the only negative thing I have to say is that I feel like some of the upcharges are unfair. I understand restaurants have to make their money, I have a decade of experience in this industry myself, but I personally would feel inclined to spend more if the upcharges made more sense. I tried ordering a singular waffle today and it was $10. Granted it is a good quality waffle but $10 just doesn't make much sense to me I guess. Otherwise the actual menu items themselves are fairly priced (chicken and waffles is $17). All in all, this is my favorite breakfast restaurant! Wish it was closer to home read more

This place is phenomenal. I usually get the pecan waffle, eggs and sausage. There's a beautiful interior that's thoroughly branded and post modern in an intentional way. The staff are super friendly and attentive. Big picture: there are great waffle options, egg dishes, delicious mimosas and craft cocktails. They have an espresso machine (!!) and serve D'arte beans. For that reason alone I can't think of another proper brunch spot in town that can hold a candle to this place. Pro tip: Get on the waitlist (from their website) before you leave the house. read more

Hubby's sister mapped a place for us to have breakfast, but when we arrived, she said it wasn't the right one LOL. Waffle Stop was nearby so we ended up here instead. Good thing the wait wasn't too bad. Once seated, we ordered a couple of coffees, ranchero steak and eggs, a fried chicken egg bowl, and the Nashville chicken and waffle. The drip coffee came in cute blue mugs with the eatery's name. The portions of the entrees were pretty big and food was good! I personally had the chicken and waffles. It came with two huge pieces of chicken and a sweet waffle, with some syrup. It was quite tasty, but the chicken could've been a bit more spicy for me. read more

Cute little place that we stopped by from a recommendation. Definitely try the pearl sugar waffle! So crispy and dense. Egg plate was solid as well. The staff serving our large group were very friendly and helpful- when someone finished their coffee it was quick to be refilled. Food took a little long to get out but we did have a lot. Great place! Showed up this afternoon knowing it was going to be busy, but I was hoping for the best. Brought mom with me to get her out of the house for fresh air and to spend some time with her and they seated us immediately. Mom uses a walker, so instead of having her stand and wait they seated us quickly. Great service and awesome food (Nashville Hot chicken and waffles were fantastic), it is defintely worth the visit and the wait if there is one. Enjoy! read more

Tried it the WeeWaffle and the Nashville chicken and waffle. They were ok. The device was great, very friendly, clean and professional. The popular Pearl Sugar Waffle was dry almost too flour-y, and well the pictures tell ya about the Wee Waffle, which was 1 egg 1 waffle of choice and 1 protein. I don't know why the eggs and maple bacon were dark in color. It was a nice try. read more

Food was pretty good and the service was quick and pleasant. Ordered the Mess Haul (asked for waffles separate from everything else) The sausage gravy was flavorful, eggs were cooked well and the portions were generous. The waffle was a little softer than I expected but still tasted good. Overall a pretty good experience. So why only 3 stars? Who charges $4 for a can of coke? (Sorry gonna rant a little...)Even worse on the menu it isn't described as Diet Coke. The options are listed as Pure Cane Cola and Diet Cola to give the impression of either a fountain drink or a premium soda option. I know it seems like a small thing but when coffee with refills or a premium lemonade are the same cost, it seems a little greedy. Again for the most part the food was good, service was great, the prices were a little on the expensive side but the portions justified the price. Just a little annoyed with the cost of the soda. Pls be more transparent on your menu. read more

This is a yummy spot but can sometimes get quite busy and there can be a wait. It can get loud especially if there's a lot of families! There is a good variety of items on the menu and if you like waffles, you'll love any of theirs! read more

For quickest seating time on the weekends, put your name in before 10 am. We arrived at 9:40 and waited about 15 minutes! Not bad. The food was incredible-- you can definitely tell thoughtful care was taken with each recipe. We loved the Split Decision sampler. The southern waffle has a corn meal base and was excellent paired with honey. The sugar pearls in my the other waffle were more defined than others I have had in the past, for the better! Very happy with our chicken Apple sausage choice as well- delicious with a bit of their house syrup! We noticed the coffee they brew has an Italian origin, and thought this was odd considering the keep it local vibe, and found out with a Google search that the beans are roasted locally by a roaster trained in Naples, Italy! Waffle stop on a Sunday morning was the place to be. Warm, inviting, busy and no wait just before 9am. We were seated immediately, with some water dropped off at our table, when the server went to take our drink order she introduced herself (I think she said she was new but noticed we were waiting?) and got our order for coffee and hot cocoa and then since we were just sitting there she offered to get our food order as well. At this point another server seemed to say it was her table, got our drink orders from the other server and walked away without a word to us. We waited and watched other tables get their food orders taken and receive their food. It appeared that the "new" server was attentive to her tables and we wished she was our server. When we finally ordered, the lemon Berry waffle was out so the server mumbled that it was unavailable, it was so unintelligible I went on ordering and she had to repeat herself. We ordered a main ranchero steak and eggs and the nuttella berry banana waffle. The food was good - I loved the waffle (crispy! Vanilla! Fruit! Whipped cream! Chocolate! Yum!) and the hot sauce for the steak was great. Toward the end of the meal, the server finally seemed to warm up to us, I couldn't tell if she was just grumpy earlier or if she was happy our table would be turned over, or what. Manager came by and did ask us how things were going and we said it was good. Food was 5 stars, service was 3. It's in the neighborhood so we'll be back. read more

To preface this is a review based upon my own personal opinion... so take it as you may. This is a cute spot for brunch. Bright, lively atmosphere. Got a good vibe about it. The service is friendly and everyone is quick to help no matter how busy it gets. But ultimately we come for the food! Waffle Stop was recommended by a friend as my wife I I love chicken and waffles. As does my daughter. This isn't your traditional chicken and waffles. Their chicken is more like a katsu style. Pounded flat breast, breaded and fried. So it doesn't have that same fried chicken flavor or taste or texture so that's a big turn off. The waffles were pretty good but not amazing. The habenaro sauce was okay at best. The waffle fries all dressed up was easily the highlight of the brunch but boy was it oily. Overall, come for the ambiance and to support local. Enjoy the service and decor. And if that style of chicken and waffles is your jam, I think you will absolutely love it as there's no reason not to unless that style isn't your cup of tea. read more

Found this breakfast spot on Yelp. It had a ton of reviews and still was ranked high, so I felt comfortable it would be good. Decided to go with my son. Came in, we were greeted cheerfully at the podium, and sat a mere minutes later. Our server, Cherise, was very attentive and quickly took an order for our beverages. The fresh squeezed OJ was on hit, my son got the coffee. We both ordered the Wake and waffle which is essentially a waffle combo with eggs, your choice of breakfast meats, and hash browns. Cherise suggested the in house made habanero sauce on the side, which paired perfectly with the crispy hashed browns. We had the buttermilk waffle with blueberries. The waffle was soft inside, with crispy edges and exterior. Whipped butter and maple syrup made this an instant hit. The maple glazed bacon was chewy, sweet, and savory. For a place that was busy, the staff seemed to work in unison, quickly attending to the diners needs and supporting each other which made for an experience that anticipated needs, and fulfilled your wishes. This place was highly recommended and we were super excited to try it. I don't know if it was just a bad day but the food was terribly mid. Food was cold when brought to the table and wasn't the greatest. Partner ordered the lushes lemon blueberry waffle and it was overly saturated with the sauce. OMG!!! Waffles?! Yes, PLEASE!!! Joys of work from home days is the fact you can have an impromptu "Brunch Date" on a random day of the week! Stopped by while running errands in Tacoma. This place is located on a nice and quaint little road with other bustling businesses. Gives me local gem vibes for sure. As soon as you walk in the colors of the decor and the ambience immediately uplift your spirits. Speaking of spirits! They serve mimosas with fresh squeezed juice. They are a little on the high end side ranging from $9-$11 but they are worth every penny! Hot syrup is served with your meal. Great twist on Chicken & Waffles with a cornmeal waffle. The kid's menu has a great selection! And PECAN WAFFLE! That's it! That's all I'll say! Customer service was great from start to finish and I'll definitely be back! read more

Wow. What a great breakfast spot. Great atmosphere, good service and delicious food! The Nutella strawberry waffle was insane. It's so delicious and sweet that I felt guilty with every bite. The California scramble was great, every ingredient tasted fresh - would highly recommend this plate. The other plate we had was the pearl sugar french toast combo - it was tasty as well. Sometimes it's really hard to find a great breakfast spot when you're actually craving Chicken & Waffles. If you're in Tacoma, head over to the Proctor District and check out the Waffle Stop! Looking for something savory? I recommend the Mess Haul, with two waffles, hash browns, three eggs (we ordered scrambled), sausage gravy, and applewood bacon. On a smaller scale, but still very savory, the Fried Chicken and Egg Bowl was awesome! Waffle bowl, Fried Chicken, two eggs (ordered mine over easy), smothered in gravy and Tillamook cheddar cheese! Mess Haul The portion size was pretty significant. Had about 1/4 of the meal for leftovers. The gravy was solid and the waffles lived up to the hype though the gravy over the top was a bit overwhelming for myself and I think next time . I'd like to try the waffles by themselves. The mess haul is Definitely solid route to go if your starving and your not worried about the contrasting flavors. read more

I've been here several times for brunch and each time it's great. I personally am not a waffle person, but I order the breakfast platter that doesn't have any and am equally as impressed with the food. My family have each tried different waffles and they really like them, their favorite is the Nutella waffle. I recommend this place to everyone who wants brunch. read more

I've wanted to try Waffle Stop since we moved here over the summer. The wait intimidates me when I drive by and see the crowds. However, they have an app you can add yourself to the list before arriving! I had the split decision- came with two types of waffles, eggs and your choice of meat- all so delicious!! We all loved our meals- the fried chicken looked so good- will order that next. My only gripe is the coffee-not good- very weak- denny's coffee in my opinion. Get some good coffee and this place will elevate several notches! read more

First timers here. Upon entry, it's a super cute little spot in a quirky cool part of Tacoma. So, ambiance is good. Friendly and attentive staff. Now for food. Hubbin got the split decision (don't know if it's called that) but he got the pearl sugar waffle, the southern waffle, eggs, and sausage. He also got a side of fried chicken. I got the strawberry cheesecake waffle with eggs and sausage. Hubbin was not a fan of the fermented taste of the sugar waffle. The southern waffle was okay, but he didn't like the honey syrup - it tastes like straight up honey which it may have been. He did like it a lot more with maple syrup. The fried chicken, although well sized, was a little thin and because of that ended up being kind of dry and salty. My strawberry cheesecake waffle was really good, but the cheesecake was a little too rich for my liking. Ate half, gave it to the Hubs and everyone was happy. Eggs and sausage were eggs and sausage. All in all, we had an alright experience. Service was great, food was good-meh, but it might be what we ordered. Would try it again if we were back in the area. Beware of a mega long wait if you're coming here on the weekend. Luckily (and maybe why it's also busy) there's a farmer's market on Saturday and there's a bunch of cute local gift shops in the area to look around. This place specializes in waffles, obviously. I ordered their fried chicken and egg bowl and it was smothered in gravy. Think of biscuits and gravy but with fried chicken and waffles. Ive never had chicken and waffles, so I felt it was too much gravy where I lost the fried chicken and waffle combination. I might order it on the side next time, or just get the chicken and waffle dish instead. But it was good but not what I was expecting. The hot sauce is HOT. And I love love spicy food so a little goes a long way, but you can really taste that habanero flavor. Their brown sugar cardamom latte was so delicious. You can really taste the cardamom! read more

The Waffle Stop seems to be a pretty popular place for brunch and I now see why! My friends and I arrived here and had to wait 15 minutes to get a table, but it wasn't that bad of a way and totally worth it! Once we got a table, I noticed the staff were all wearing masks, so that's great that they continue to do so. There's hand sanitizers at the entrance if you choose to use it. Now on with the food. Everything looked really great, but I decided to order the Mini Mess Haul with a side a chicken apple sausages. The amount of food was just enough for me! I'm sure if I got the Mess Haul, it would've been too much for me to eat in one sitting. I loved the gravy and bacon bits that topped the waffle! It all had such great flavors that I completely cleaned the plate! The interior of the restaurant was beautifully decorated and bathrooms were kept clean. The staff were all kind and very helpful. This place should be renamed to the one stop waffle shop, because they literally have everything you could need in a breakfast/brunch. My sisters and I drove down here while on vacation in Washington. They were about to close, but the server was sooooo kind and allowed us to sit and order. She didn't make us feel rushed, or as if we were a burden. She was welcoming and possibly the best server I've ever encountered. I wish I remembered her by name for the shoutout she deserves. The food was amazing! The waffles are so thick and full of flavor, i could never eat a eggo ever again! The Nutella with strawberries and bananas were the perfect touch of sweetness to the dish. I especially loved the hoMe made sausage Patty's! If they sold them in packs to go, I'd probably have bought a dozen of them to bring back home with me! The next time I'm in Washington, I will make it a point to stop by again & hopefully get our servers name, she was so good to us! read more

The price range was $9-$17 from what I saw today. But well worth it. Quality ingredients and taste and portions! We're from Seattle but this is the only place I wanna go for breakfast now even though it's a 30-45 minute drive defending on traffic.

We also had to wait far too long for basic things like napkins and forks because we weren't given enough for everyone. The most frustrating part, however, was the automatic gratuity. At no point were we informed -- verbally or on the menu -- that parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We only discovered it by carefully reviewing our checks. And to make matters worse, the so-called "20%" was not actually 20%. It came out to 24.1%. When we questioned it, the person who said she was the manager claimed "the computer does it automatically." We are a table full of teachers -- and the math was definitely not mathing. We understand and respect gratuity for large parties, especially when the service is great or when it's clearly communicated. But charging more than the stated percentage crosses from poor service into a billing integrity issue. To add to the frustration, there is also a credit card processing fee, which again was not clearly disclosed on the menu and only appeared at the bottom of the receipt. This absolutely should be visibly posted before ordering. They did offer to refund some of the charges, but we declined because it would have taken additional time and we had an event to get to -- and more importantly, it doesn't resolve the core issue of lack of transparency. She also gave each of us a $10 gift card, but again, that doesn't resolve the issue. And honestly, what good is a gift card if we don't plan on returning because of such an awful experience? Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, and not one we would recommend based on service and transparency alone.

In addition, we ordered the baguette with butter/oil and what came to us for $11 or some rather non descript rolls. The octopus special was the star of the show. The colors, flavors, char on the octopus...everything except that it was surrounded by a fair amount of paprika oil, so much so that I had to work around it in order to not give my stomach a run for my money later in the evening. A dish I wanted to finish but just couldn't because of that issue. In addition to that, refills of water were non-existent and it took close to 50 minutes to get our dinner. Also, our waitperson was very pleasant but seemed rather overwhelmed. Even after waiting 15 minutes for the simple syrup, when she finally did bring it, she looked surprised that I no longer wanted it. Yes, she took it off the bill, but I would have much rather enjoyed one of the specialties of the house. So many mishaps that didn't need to occur. Truly disappointed that our evening went that way.
