New discovery. Good service and the food was better than anticipated. We had a large group so were seated in the back room which was perfect for a family. Must try the Brussels sprouts with bacon and focaccia to start. Can't go wrong with any dinner entree. The carbonara and pizzas were great. Others had swordfish and cod specials which got high reviews. read more

I'm going to crush this restaurant because the bartender drove the worst experience I've almost ever had in a restaurant. I worked in a restaurant starting as a teen. My brother was a chef du cuisine, not a cook. He taught me decades ago how to make a dining experience worthy of people's spending. This was not it. The food was amazing but left the experience me feeling as if I wasted my money. The grumpiness of the individual behind the bar where we sat and ate was showmanship beyond unprofessionalism. When he dropped off drinks...no eye contact, no acknowledgement of our thank yous to him. Utterly embarrassing for the establishment, and for us to support it. If you are that miserable, you should not be outward facing to represent a business. Bartending is an art rooted in many aspects beyond drink making, especially if you are representing a business in service. No offers of drinks with empty drink glasses after rounds 1 and 2. No acknowledgement of empty dishes with wishes of subsequent courses that we were interested in. Yikes, this was bad. read more

I've been working really hard and have to keep working hard and needed to do something nice for myself, and eat something I knew would be perfect, and feel taken care by people I liked. And there is only one place in Tacoma where I knew for sure I'd get everything I want. Primo is my favorite restaurant. It has the BEST VIBE anywhere. Tonight's burrata salad had, sweet heirloom tomatoes, a beautiful nutty pesto, and I could taste the basil (not just the garlic), the focaccia was perfect and chewy, and the pork chop was moist and delicious. The servings are big, so this is a perfect place to share a meal with someone you love. And the cocktails and dessert? Perfect perfect perfect. I haven't been drinking alcohol and it was also wonderful to know that I could have a mocktail as good as the Black Manhattan which was my previous favorite drink. read more

Food was really good, service was great, but just understand that dinner is going to be more expensive than you're expecting. I ordered the ravioli for an entree for $27. It was delicious, but the 4-5 ravioli did not remotely cut it for dinner. I actually ordered a salad after dinner because I was still so hungry. From what I ordered and looking at the people next to me at the bar, I'd say the portions are more tapas sized. read more

Possibly the best carbonara I've ever had. The service was great (friendly!) and the atmosphere is great. We'll be back for sure. read more

I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was absolutely perfect. The taste of the salty bacon over the creaminess of the sauce was almost dreamlike. Thank you chef. Now I have to go back and try the funghi pizza. Our server was friendly and professional, and left us alone. That is a plus. Ambiance? I like the setting, but with all the hard surfaces, it was very loud. I will grant that every table was taken. All in all, 10 out of 10. read more

This restaurant is a true gem, striking a rare balance between casual and fine dining. It feels approachable and unpretentious, yet delivers a level of quality, thoughtful menu design and attentive, polished service typically associated with more formal establishments. The Mediterranean focus is well executed, offering a mix of authentic/popular, well composed dishes that avoid cliches and bring fresh, vibrant flavors to the table. The wine selection is excellent and thoughtfully curated and the dessert offerings provide a strong, satisfying finish to the experience. Versatile in atmosphere, it works equally well for a romantic evening, a dinner with friends, professional gatherings or larger family occasions. Strongly recommended. read more

First visit, on way home to Olympia Sunday after a matinee at the Paramount in downtown Seattle. Arrived a bit early for our reservation and were seated promptly. Server was attentive, very friendly, and knowledgeable. My wife enjoyed a frost cosmo. We then started with roasted calamari (which was quite flavorful, although the meat was a bit tough) and herbed focaccia (wonderful for dipping the calamari sauce). The ahi special and boneless short ribs were our entrees; both came nicely presented and were very tasty. Both pretty full, we ended up with a bourbon chocolate cake and fruit hand pie to go, which were both delicious. The restaurant is not large, and filled up while we were there, making it somewhat noisy, but not bad. It is a nicely appointed, appealing place, with a great team making it all happen. We'll be back. read more

Feeling bummed...But starting from the top- it was the only place we could get in without having to wait an hour and I wanted good pasta, so we reserved a spot in the car and walked in to be seated about 10 minutes after (which was after our reservation time). Was seated without menus and waited a good amount of time before water was poured. Menu's received just after, ordered the Brussels and bruschetta then drinks. Starters came out fairly quickly- I liked them both- my boyfriend didn't favor either. Food came out later- first the pork chops, my son's cheese pizza, then my penne. The pork chops were the biggest disappointment. As soon as I saw him pick up his knife and try to cut it I got worried. It shouldn't require a lot of work to cut a good pork chop. When I tried a bite the flavor was disappointing. Kids cheese pizza was good. My son referred to it as cheese bread since there wasn't any red sauce, but I guess we couldn't have specified that when ordering. I tried it and thought the crust was really nice, light and thin. My penne was good. The sauce was a bit too salty so I didn't each much, but the noodles were cooked perfectly, presentation was nice and had a little kick to it. I would have lightened the Parmesan and added pepper to the top. So, needless to say the craving for pasta didn't hit on all levels tonight. Not sure if I'd try it again unless I'm aiming for pizza. read more

Great dinner. The restaurant was great, the customer service and hospitality was amazing. I loved the energy in the place. It was a Friday night so it was buzzing with customers. Make reservations!!! Parking in Tacoma is always tough so make sure to get there early. Food time! I had the Moroccan chicken and it was tender, moist, flavorful and well portioned. I couldn't finish the entire serving. My friends tried different dishes. One had the New York steak but said it was dry and well done even though he specified he would like it medium. My other friend had the pork chop and mentioned it was delish. Last dish was the penne ala vodka. He mentioned it was made perfect. We also ordered the burrata with delicata squash, pomegranate seeds and fig gastrique drizzle. This was AMAZING. I've never had these flavors together before. Our servers and the hostess were so accommodating. They have these glass garage style doors that I'm sure they open up during summer months. I love this place and definitely plan on returning. Ooooo, Bathroom was clean, that's a plus!! Always like to provide that feedback. We also ordered bourbon chocolate cake that was devoured. Great place to gather with people you like. It can get pretty packed in there. Loved everything. Except the dry steak. Maybe next time it'll be better. read more

The food was amazing; I can't wait to go back and try more of it. Service was impeccable, their staff is on top of everything and never missed a beat while we were there, it was a busy Saturday evening, and I was very impressed at how the staff handled every detail. I bit loud but honestly, I didn't care. read more

Primo Grill never disappoints! It's become our casual date night place, or somewhere to treat guests. We like to order a few appetizers (if not one of everything, depending on the size of our group), and a couple of main dishes to share, leaving room for desert. Their drinks are always interesting and on point (even their N/A's). I would love it if they made their pasta with shrimp/seafood an everyday plate, but, like with their squid ink pasta, I can wait. read more

We love Primo Grill. Their staff is always attentive and on top of it. Their food is amazing--they keep their favorites on the menu and circulate delicious specials. The location is convenient with easy to find parking and while the restaurant isn't silent inside, it isn't too loud and gives off a friendly and upbeat vibe. read more

Went here for Valentine's Day and had a phenomenal experience! Not only was the service quick, attentive, and friendly, the aesthetic was nice and the food was excellent. To start, my wife and I tried their brand new Espresso Martini and to our astonishment, the bartender actually came up to our table and told us it was the first day that they were offering that drink and wanted an honest review. Truthfully, it was great! Sometimes espresso martinis don't have the right mix of flavor and just taste like bitter vodka and coffee, separately. But this drink was very succinct and well mixed. We had the ragu and the New York steak and both dishes exceeded our expectations! I have no notes or ideas for improvement, they were perfection! This is the perfect place for a date night or business meeting. Thanks for the awesome night! read more

This charming spot made for a great dining experience. The restaurant was bright, clean, and welcoming, with a super friendly staff that added to the warm atmosphere. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, it was tough to choose a favorite! One of the pastas or the appetizer might take the top spot, but honestly, everything was so good. We enjoyed every bite and even ended up ordering a second pizza because we just couldn't get enough! read more

Was so excited to try because the ambiance looks amazing from outside! Very disappointed to see the automatic 20% service charge that "does not count as gratuity." Let's just pay employees fairly and not put this on your patrons?? Or raise the menu prices?? Guess it would look bad to charge more than $27 for a pizza (which they already do). Sat for ~20 minutes tonight without anyone coming up to take our order and ended up just walking out. :/ read more

My first time trying Primo Grill was this past Saturday. We made reservations before hand. It's a cute restaurant in the city of Tacoma, WA. The service was great since we arrived, our waitress was very attentive and they also have a special that is not on the menu. Just stopped in for some drinks. This place has a super cute, clean and refined look to it. I love the big windows that open up to the outside for when the weather is nice. We were greeted by an incredibly welcoming host who let us know that we could sit anywhere we'd like at the bar. We visited on a Saturday right when they opened at 4 o'clock and we're surprised to see that they had a happy hour during that time. Although we didn't order anything from that menu still unattractive option. My friend ordered a nonalcoholic cocktail which looked beautiful, but had table salt all over the rim. So overwhelming she had to scrape it off in order to enjoy her drink. Unfortunately, a good amount of it fell in her drink, and she couldn't finish the bottom portion because it was so salty. I ordered the rosy bees knees and it just felt like a confusing drink. Love the description and flavor profile but it wasn't executed very well. The drinks unfortunately, were not enough to get us to come back to enjoy dinner here later. Cannot comment on their actual food, but these two drinks left us pretty disappointed. read more

Came here with a party of 8 for 2 birthdays. We're from out of town but this place was recommended by some friends. Made a reservation and was seated almost immediately. The hostess was nice. Service was terrible. The girl who served us was so rude to my husband (the birthday boy). She made a comment that we wouldn't need sharing plates because it's a fine dining establishment? Like chill girl it's just a decent restaurant in Tacoma, WA. I'm sure she could have had a bigger order from us if she had came back to check up on us. Weird attitude from her all night. No complimentary birthday anything either, which is not necessary but always nice since we made notes in our reservations. Aside from that, food was amazing. The burrata appetizer was very yummy and fresh. The ahi tuna special was amazing and melted in my mouth. The salmon special with mango salsa was also very good. Panna cotta dessert was not too sweet which I liked. The bees knees cocktail was very good as well. Wish I could give it a 5 because food was delicious but weird service for sure. read more

This was a very cute place for a date night. The food was quite tasty and we were so happy with our appetizers. For our main, my husband got the penne ala vodka with a half chicken. The chicken had great flavor and the past was also good. I got the pork chop which I normally don't do that often because pork is hard to cook. It came out and it was medium rare (and no one advised that it would be undercooked or asked for a temp) It took a long time for us to flag down our waitress after we got our mains so by the time I got my dish back, my husband was done eating. The drinks were very good also. We got the chocolate cake which isn't listed as flourless so it can be misleading as to what it is. We got the vanilla panna cotta as well which was good but we weren't blown away by either dessert. When all was said and done our bill was well over 200 for the two of us and we were honestly shocked that we didn't get comp'd a small something for me getting medium rare pork. They also add 20% to your bill when it comes out. Be prepared to drop a good amount of money when you come here! read more

My wife have been her numerous times now and we both agree its our new favorite spot. Recently we came for my birthday and usually my go to spot for treating friends or family. The menu has a great balance -- a solid base of dishes you can always count on, plus rotating specials that keep things fresh and give you a reason to come back. Everything we ordered was well-cooked and full of flavor. The drinks deserve a mention too -- strong, balanced, and crafted with some care instead of just being poured together. Service was attentive without being over the top, which we both appreciated. It does get loud, so if you're looking for a quiet dinner this might not be the place, but the energy and atmosphere make it fun. Between the food, drinks, and overall vibe, it's definitely a spot we'll be coming back to often. read more

Primo is the familiar old friend that always has something exciting to share! We have been to Primo many times over the years and even though we live in Puyallup now, we still make time to come here. They just never fail us and we always enjoy our meals, they have staples on the menu that you can enjoy time and time again, or try one of the seasonal specials which are creative and delicious. There's always a full restaurant and it's a pleasant atmosphere, full of rich conversations and laughter. The service is great and always attentive, you can tell everyone wants you to enjoy your time at Primo. We will always recommend this place. read more

We went for a birthday dinner and we were seated right away! The server was quick to tell us the specials and made sure to go over some great vegetarian options! We got an appetizer and 2 main courses. The mushroom pasta was delicious and it was fun to try the pesto pasta dish as well! The best was the dessert, we did have to pay for the birthday dessert (which I thought would've been complimentary) but we got the brownie sundae and it was divine! Only thing I was surprised with was that they allowed babies in, one was crying and fussy on the other side of where we were sitting.. and parking was kind of a hassle. read more

Stopped here because I've heard good things and the place is cute inside. It was pretty crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. I ordered the grilled Moroccan chicken and was pretty disappointed. It was extremely fatty. The dish also came with "lemon aioli" which just tasted like mayonnaise. The marble potatoes were pretty tasteless. Not worth the $30. But because it was happy hour, you could get decent $8 house wines. If I ever go back, I would need to try something totally different. read more

I visited Primo Grill with a small group before attending a nearby Christmas play. We stopped in here for some pre-play dinner and drinks and had a great time! Service was great and really attentive, and they were really gracious with my group after me being half an hour late *eeeek* due to bad traffic. The atmosphere is great as well, definitely more of an intimate/romantic vibe. My table saved me some bites of some of the appetizers, and the standout for me was the roasted cauliflower. I think cauliflower is SO underrated and this dish was done sooo well. Would definitely get it again! For my entree, I got the carbonara. Can almost never say no if that's on the menu. It was definitely really good, but I can't say it's the best I've had. Still really tasty though, just was missing a little bit more flavor! It was my first time in and I definitely plan on returning for happy hour (in the bar only) as they have a really great and affordable HH menu. Would be fun to come back and enjoy with some girlfriends! read more

Was here in mid-February 2026 with some friends. The 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, 2 of us had the Seafood cioppino nightly special and it was fantastic, both servings were filled with a bounty of the sea of seafood. The other 2 in my party had a stuffed pork chop & one of the salads, both individuals were very satisfied. The service was excellent, the only negatives would be the overly loud atmosphere & the amount of the bill. read more

We recently went to Primo for my boyfriend's birthday. The cocktails and food were SO good. I can't believe we hadn't been to Primo before. It was hard to choose what to order since everything sounded so good! Thankfully, our server gave excellent recommendations. I'm embarrassed to say I live in Tacoma, and this was only my second time dining here. And dang, I'm disappointed in myself! We hosted a Galentine dinner here last night...it could not have been more perfect. Naomi, our server, was so amazing. I honestly don't think I've had better service anywhere else (and we eat out quite a bit). She was on her game, gave wonderful recommendations, and was really funny. Rachel, the manager, bless her heart (in the non-condescending tone) answered multiple calls from me throughout the week and was super helpful. I couldn't be more pleased; this is our new Galentine's Day spot. Although I will definitely return before then because the food was delicious. Thank you, guys, so much! read more

We went for my wife's birthday late on a Sunday. It's a casual looking place, industrial chic. But the lighting is moody and warm and the bar has a beautiful painting above it. The service was great, our server was very nice and responsive. My picky eaters found entrees they loved. Every thing was delicious. Well seasoned and fresh. We had the fungi pizza, I give it an 8. A green salad that was a bit too lemony, I give it a 6. My son had pasta with shrimp and it was so good that everyone was fighting over the shrimp! I had crab cakes that were excellent, fresh and crispy, and smaller than usual. I give them a 10! The best thing is that they include service charges on the bill so you don't have to do math. read more

I wanted to go somewhere classic, so we drove right into Tacoma and found Primo. We were greeted right and sat near the bar . We started with the mussels in a chive curry cream sauce--rich and aromatic. The lobster shrimp pasta, made with hand-crafted noodles, was a perfect balance of creamy and savory, while the lobster tails were tender and buttery. Nothing lasted long enough for photos A highlight of the evening was when the owner personally visited our table, checking on us and recommending desserts. We took his advice and tried the vanilla panna cotta--smooth, light, and the perfect way to end the meal. With its excellent food, warm service from Rachel, and inviting atmosphere, Primo Grill was a top-tier dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing nice evening read more

Its been a while since I last reviewed, but I do have to say we have been visiting at least once a year to Primo Grill. Primo Grill continues to be a 5-star restaurant each visit. We made a reservation a year prior and requested for a seat by the window because i wanted it to be "romantic and special" for the hubby's birthday. They did just that. For entrees we ordered the seafood special which was between the lobster or the salmon. Salmon was soft and not dry and was served atop asparagus. The asparagus was lightly drizzled in oil. We also ordered the Classic Pizza. Very thin crust and tasted much better fresh than to take home. Not thick cheese mor overloaded with condiments. Overall, will continue to come back here again.
