I keep giving it a chance but every time it just gets worse and worse. Went on Saturday. I liked…read more(past tense) the buttermilk EGG bacon biscuit. It's not exactly cheap but was SO satisfying with that FRESH egg. It hasn't looked right lately and I didn't get one. Finally I straight asked the clerk if they were using processed liquid eggs now and she said yes. You have got to be kidding me? The whole attraction was the REAL EGG. Tastes like ass when you use liquid commercially processed eggs. It is NOT the same. That's why McDs sells so many Egg McMuffins cuz it has a real eggs. Marlenes is really beginning to suck on a lot of fronts. I did get a grab-and-go of garlic salmon and beef meatloaf which were good. I come for the house made food. If I want crap in a can I can get it at Whole Foods and at least they still have real eggs.

Stopped here on the way from Portland to Seattle for a bathroom break and a lunch! I will say- this…read moreis not the best place to stop for something quick. I was excited about the deli, but 90% of it was cold items that needed to be heated up. They looked good, but didn't make for a good car snack. The only real grab and go thing is the sandwiches, which took about 20 min to make. I also felt like the reviews overhyped the gluten free baked goods. I only saw gluten free chocolate cupcakes, but had hoped for more. A good, clean stop for anyone who needs some quality food without the stress of a full grocery store, but didn't meet my needs as well as I had hoped. If I needed a fabulous dish to bring home and heat up, this would have been perfect.

Daughter and I were looking for a quiet place to sit down and talk while having a snack after a…read morewalk through the rain at Wright's Park. We saw this little sandwich shop we hadn't seen before and decided to check it out. The atmosphere is very nice, casual, and comfortable. It looks like it would be good to sit and do homework, have lunch with some friends, or go to a casual brunch with family. There are lots of seating choices: a couch and comfy chairs, high tables and stools, and regular tables. One table had a puzzle started you could work on and there were lots of games and books you could use. You order at the counter, they deliver food to your table and there is a place to bus your own table. The beverage menu included coffee and alcoholic beverages. They offered sandwiches, crepes, pastries and soup. We ordered coffee, a pastry, soup, and order of crepes to be eaten there. The coffee was fine served in a nice mug. The cookie was large but packaged in a plastic bag that would have been ok if we had been a to go order. But we were eating there so we either had to put it directly on the table or on the plastic bag. The tomato soup was very tasty, creamy with a little kick of spice. It had occasional chunks of tomato and visible pieces of basil. All of this goodness was overshadowed because it was served in a small ramekin, the type cooks use to portion food when they are preparing a recipe. It appeared we were getting a large taste of soup instead of a cup of soup. For some reason I assumed the savory crepes would be fresh and warm, but instead my order was made with premade cold crepes loosely wrapped around the mostly cheese filling. Taken as a whole we left disappointed. The atmosphere was nice enough that I will try this place again and try something else. I hope for better because it looks like it could be a great place to eat and hang with friends.

We were going to Poquitos on Division but looks like that place fell prey to the Tacoma curse. A…read morelot of places don't hang around too long and that spot in particular has seemed hard to keep in business. But then we looked cross the street on 1st, where there used to be an Anthem, and even though it was already 6pm, this sandwich shop was still open and...there was a BINGO game happening. Whaddya know? So we took a peak in and they were not only serving sandwiches but they also had a cooler full of microbrews and kombuchas, beer on tap, wine, and a whole list of cocktails made from prosecco and other non-hard liquors like Amaro. Truly something for everyone. So we gave our order to the sweet human at the counter and took our seats I'm not kidding, my Amaro sour was one of the best cocktails I've had in a while in Tacoma and so were the pretzel sticks. I want my cocktails cold, tart, and refreshing with a little kick of funk or herbs and I want my pretzels salty. You wouldn't think that's such a high bar to clear but you'd be surprised. Sandwich Starr nailed it. Our Zatan sandwich was tasty but even though the bread felt a little stale. Otherwise the decor is kinda '90s coffee house and they've got bingo! Overall, this is an odd spot but the drinks are really good and it's got heart and it's the heart that makes it Tacoma.

It seems like the community knows about Howdy Bagel because it was full of energy and the spirit of tacoma. The guest who was in here gave me recommendations, and even recommendations for other places in the community too. Back to the bagels...... all I need to say is please try this place for yourself! My pics will do you no justice, the flavor profile is absolutely amazing! The lox in a box and the Grit city Lox was my absolute faaaavorite! But all in all, everything I got was amazing. Ambiance was cute! Decor and seating in the middle of the city. Parking lot in the back, if you can't find street parking.

Mostly street parking around here, I never have an issue but I often come in off-hours. Might be tough or need to go a bit farther during rush hours. The vibes here are amazing! Lots of well-curated local pantry goods, merch, cozy indoor seating and extremely warm and friendly service. As for the bagels, they're very OK. Extremely tough outer skin with more chew than I'd like and the interior is fine in terms of flavor and subpar in terms of texture (I want something fluffier or more pillowy inside). I tried a pastrami sandwich there where they add pepperoncinis and it gave it a surprising acidic quality that I liked but probably wouldn't get again. Worth coming for the vibes alone andd to check it out for yourself at least!
