Nice place right on the wharf. Great drinks, service was really good. Food was very good. Would definitely go back
Craving steak. Got off the ferry and decided I wanted scenic water views and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant is bright, airy and beautifully laid with ample seats. We settled on a clam chowder, buratta, petite filets, and molton chocolate cake. The chowder was a tad bit salty but delicious. Unlike most restaurants they serve a hearty bowl vs cup. I had to pace myself. The buratta was very earthy as the arugula was heavy but the sauce did lighten it up and give dimension. Now, that Filet was simply divine. Perfect flavor and so delicate and moist. I'm a well-done weirdo but ordered medium-well. It came out medium and was oh so juicey. It literally melted in my mouth. There was minimal seasoning. Yet, the whiskey-peppercorn sauce that accompanied it really added flavor. I'm a suckered for a good sauce. Definitely, worth my time. Top tier steak! Service was top tier. David was phenomenal. As a visitor it was well worth the stop! Perfect service
The Grill at The Wharf exceeded our expectations. We started with the oysters, which were impeccably fresh, clean-tasting, and beautifully presented--a perfect way to begin the meal. The mussels were a standout, swimming in a rich, aromatic broth that was so good it deserved every last piece of bread for soaking it up. For the entrée, the sea bass was exceptional. The fish was perfectly cooked with a delicate, buttery texture and crisp exterior, allowing its natural flavor to shine while the accompaniments complemented it without overpowering it. From the quality of the seafood to the thoughtful execution of each dish, every course felt well-crafted. Combined with attentive service and the lively atmosphere at The Wharf, it made for a memorable evening. We'll definitely be returning.
The food tasted great! We had the bread, the tomahawk steak, loaded mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. The bread was AMAZING, the steak was really good, but our server convinced us to order it medium instead of medium well and stated the medium well will come out brown. I was a little disappointed when she initially said this because I always get a tomahawk whenever a restaurant has it and I order it as medium well and there is always pink. So based off her suggestion, I ordered it as medium, and it was not cooked to my liking. Also, the food didn't take long to come out, but it was not hot, it was warm. I also think service could've been better because after our mail came, our waitress, didn't come back and check on us. The ambience was " chill cute" you don't have to get super dressed up, but it is a nice place to grab dinner casually on the wharf. Overall, the food was good and I would go again!
I've been here enough now to be able to rate the dinning and bar experience. For great service get a table and for mediocre service sit at the bar. The bartenders will pick and choose on who to ask for a card with. I noticed many occasions were some people aren't ask while others are ask immediately after putting in an order. The service is lack luster at the bar. While the service is amazing when getting a table. I would give the food a 7 out of 10. Pros: There's happy hour 12om-6pm at the bar but be warned of the service you'll receive. There really should be more eyes on the bartenders.
We came here as a late lunch early dinner combo. 3 adults 2 teenagers 2 grilled salmon 3 the grill burger While we only asked for one burger without veggies all of them came out without which was annoying. The fries were really good. We had a side of cauliflower and the mushrooms. The cauliflower could have used more flavor and the mushrooms were too heavy on the wine flavor. The place was very busy when we came in and service was a little slow but understandable. It's really nice sitting outside of the weather allows.
We dined here on a Saturday after exploring The Wharf. I booked a reservation for lunch, so there was no wait and we were promptly seated on the patio. Being as I seldom get weekend days off, it totally did not occur to me that it would be more of a brunch menu than a traditional lunch menu- which was totally fine. We were starving so we started out with the Three Cheese Crab Fondue as an appetizer. It was really good- and definitely really hearty. There was an ample amount of lump crab meat in the dip, so we definitely got our money's worth. If you love melty cheese and crab- you'll love it. The only downside was the bread was on the unimaginative side. To have a stellar fondue and have a meh bread to put it on undermines the dish as a whole. For my entree I got the Coconut Cardamom French Toast. This was a truly elevated FT variety and was a five-star dish all the way. It wasn't too sweet and was like something you'd get at a luxury resort. Service was fine. Our waiter was good and a manager came by to check on us. Since we dined on the patio, this is a great place to people watch, but just be mindful of the time of day. We were fortunate to have a table where we were shaded from the sun, but some of the other tables seem to be right in the blaze of mid-day. Overall the grill is a nice place and the food was very good. I'd definitely be back sometime to try other things on the menu.

The caviar chicken tenders were excellent for a lunch dish. Freshly made and a good size portion. We also tried the grill burger which was delicious. Service is always good as are the dishes and the interior is clear and open.
The Grill serves up solid food and service. I visited on a very busy Saturday night with a reservation for 6 people at 6:30 PM. I tried the lobster roll ($39) and Cajun Branzino ($49) and both were good. The lobster roll was Maine-style -- cold with mayo -- which is not my preferred style, but it was still pretty good. The side of fries were great -- crispy and well-seasoned. I liked that the lobster roll had a specific price on the menu and not just "MP." The branzino was also very good. Everyone else had good things to say about their dishes, which included the clam chowder, seafood linguini, and caesar salads. Service was good but uneven in spots; there were some nice touches, but also a few misses. For example, they poured the canned beer for us tableside and remembered a guest's birthday with a small slice of cheesecake (free). But, they forgot crackers to go with the clam chowder, didn't deliver dishes to the correct people, and were a few minutes late bringing the last entree after all the others had arrived. It was a busy night, but also they should be used to that. We sat in the back dining area and the ambiance was fine.

Had a tasty dinner here! Pricey place but really good food with a nice atmosphere and friendly service. I very much enjoyed my lobster roll and fries. Also tried the salted honey rolls which were good.
Open airy place on the wharf. It reminds me of a beach restaurant. Nice large bar for happy hour. Even more seating outside on nice days. The food was solid. The portions were definitely on the small side. Especially the seafood linguine and king salmon. Service was friendly and quick.

Best to make reservations online to guarantee seats. The waitress was nice and patient. The food portions were huge! Drinks were good. The view on the deck area was perfect of the wharf. Great place for a meal!! read more
Enjoyed our afternoon by the water. The restaurant is quiet large. Bar nice and spacious. Friendly staff. Very bright and lively. Food was amazing. Salad with rare steak. On point Mac and cheese was 4/5. People at the bar agreed. It could use more cheese and seasoning. Burger was great. I think we ordered wrong kind. As it was more of a pulled meat than regular burger. So note taken - pay attention. I ordered mushrooms but they forgot to bring them out. Def give it a try read more

Beautiful interior with high quality food. The fries are amazing and the crab dip is definitely my favorite thing. Right on the wharf, the restaurant can be crowded sometimes so reservations are a good idea and the parking is hectic. read more

Came back finally and the Grill did not disappoint. Had a couple of martinis, calamari, the red snapper, and salmon with chimichurri. Everything was delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The snapper and sauce were so flavorful. The martinis were perfect. On top of that the sunset was gorgeous and the service was so nice and attentive. Hope to come back soon. Thanks folks! read more

Food was delicious. Salted-honey herb rolls are a must! I usually like fish or a meat dish when I eat out, but decided to try the grilled veggies with farro. It was delicious and filling. Sweet potatoes are a definite must try as a side. Nancy was our server and she was attentive and provided great service. Friendly managers. read more

Great, easy evening steak dinner at The Grill. Casual, slightly upscale steakhouse on the promenade at the wharf provided a warm solo dinner at the bar. The Grill has a modern though comfy interior that brings real warmth from the open grill flames which serve to help.heat the interior. On a late February evening with exterior temperatures in the 49s it had to be a cozy 75+ inside. This heat, however, leads to the singular downfall in my dinner experience: red wines are kept upright in the bar interior, and thus are much too warm. With Chappellet Mountain Cuvee priced at $38 for 8 oz, when a 750ml bottle typically goes for $50, I expect better. Keep some bottles on ice, even, simply to chill the wine. A cooler cabernet would have helped cut the fattiness of the steak so much better. This said, I had an expensive, though very satisfying meal, and I will definitely return. A 16oz ribeye at $68 was a perfectly grilled, hot, juicy, nice exteriored slice of beef. Just the right amount of juicy flavorful fat. The cut was slightly too salty, but this was a nit. I wasn't sending this back! It didn't require any additional seasoning, and the accompanying sauce (I chose chimichurri) was unneeded. An add on of crab cakes (12.50) is a definite do! 2 not tiny, decent sized disc's of real crabmeat are.accomapnied by a small amount of filler, grilled crispy and full of blue crab flavor. Worth every penny. I.was really surprised at how much I enjoyed these. A side of green beans in a basil and cilantro pesto were a bright accompaniment to the ribeye's fatti ess and the savoring ess of the crabcake. Perfect combination, and every element done well. Sitting at the bar, Nancy C, made me feel welcome and attended to. I hope yo see her again. Fabulous person who made a killer vodka + grapefruit. Oh, the flour less chicolate cake with a dollop of vanilla ice cream is perfect. Dusted with some powdered sugar it is warm, appropriately gooey, chocolate and a perfectly end to a good evening. Total bill before tax: $172. Expensive, yeah. Worth it? Yeah, shorty! read more

Right off the bat the service was good. Our waitress attended to us right away and gave us enough time to order and was coming back frequently but not too much. Three cheese crab fondue - deliciously cheesy. Not too salty or heavy of a feeling. You can definitely taste the crab. Some places you can't see it or even taste it due to how little they give you but they did a great job here. Skirt steak - medium steak. Nice cut and taste. It's kind of hard to mess a steak up but it's also hard to make your steak stand out from a lot of good restaurants. I'd say this place was good. Didn't stand out with it but would come back and order it again. Lighting inside and view outside was very nice. Definitely check this place out. read more

Came here on a busy Saturday and sat outside. Since it was busy, the service was slow and the food took about 40 minutes to come out. Given the steep price of the food, I had higher expectations for the taste. The chicken was juicy but the burger was greasy and the bun was very soggy. But, the sweet potatoes were very good! Overall, will probably not go back because of the high prices and poor quality for what you get. read more

This was our first time here. Can't say I will fit back. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive. The ambiance was okay. Unfortunately for us we were sitting next to this lady who was on FaceTime for at least twenty minutes with no headset on so we had to listen to her conversation the entire time. So much so it was hard to talk to the waitress. The food was okay. My boyfriend got the cheeseburger which you can't go wrong with that. I did the surf and turf and the steak was seasoned just okay to me. The twice baked potato was okay. Nothing that I had will make me go back. read more

My boyfriend has been here a year ago and since then--has not stopped talking about The Grill Manhattan Noir. So now that we came together--we came and sat at the bar. Gregory (our server and bartender) was amazing. Great service and awesome recommendations. The Manhattan Noir is exceptional! If you are a whiskey person--do yourself a favor and try it. They infuse their Punt E Mes with Thyme and Rosemary. The food was amazing--from the oysters, bacon wrapped dates, Cajun branzino that Gregory recommended was the hit with all of us, and the pineapple upside cake. Check them out! Recommend to make reservations on the weekend/Friday. read more

Love the ambiance here. It's such a cute spot by the water. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I ordered the mussels and French fries and enjoyed both. The french fries are very solid french fries! They had a nice crisp and the perfect touch of salt. The mussels were flavorful and well seasoned but I have had better. After a successful fiscal year, my co-workers and I decided to celebrate and check out The Grill for lunch. I made reservations to insure we didn't have to wait. Located next to the District Doughnuts at the Wharf in SW, The Grill had a gorgeous view of the Potomac and the ambiance was giving a very fancy, yet approachable vibe. Seating is available on their heated deck or indoors. We opted for the indoor seating. After perusing the menu, I decided on the "The Express" where you can either get salmon, chicken, or skirt steak along with a salad, fries and ice cream or sorbet. All I needed to see was ice cream and I was sold! I ordered the salmon and it was some of the best I've ever eaten. It had a nice smoky flavor. Even the chocolate ice cream was divine! The service was extremely professional and attentive. And the decor was very modern and welcoming. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was the perfect amount of food. I will absolutely put this on my list of places to visit again and again! read more

I stopped in for a quick lunch at the bar last weekend with a friend as we trekked around DC. I ordered their Finnish cheese app, a side ceasar salad, and a strawberry rhubarb bellini. The bellini was quite strong, packed a punch. The salad was delightful, fresh, and the dressing was lovely. I also loved the cheese app. Our server/bartender kindly provided some foil so I could pack my cheese leftovers into my fanny pack. Much appreciated! The restaurant is gorgeous too (including the women's bathroom). I'd love to go back sometime for the full experience. read more
We had an absolutely amazing AFTER brunch experience with our bartender Demetrius!! Too bad we didn't come here first.... (the neighboring brunch spot will remain nameless.) Demetrius was friendly, extremely knowledgeable of the entire drink & food menu, and just all around hospitable and flat out awesome. While we only had space for an appetizer and cocktails everything was spectacular. The martini selections were plentiful and strong. And the Mussels were delicious and simple with white wine sauce that was to die for! The hospitality from both Demetrius and JoJo the manager left us hungry for more and excited to return asap to see what else they have to offer. Amazing happy hour! The tuna bites stood out to me, but the deviled egg was also good and the chicken tenders had a bit of a punch and they were large. Also loved my drink- the grill punch. I didn't try the oysters, but my friends did and said they were small, but they'd probably order them again. Also, my friend said their HH burger is delicious! That'll be up next! read more

Hands down this is probably the best $29 meal I've ever had lol. I got the Express which came with skirt steak, fries, and salad. My steak was cooked how I like it and the butter sauce was a nice touch. My husband got the Cajun Branzino and said it was amazing. He cleared his plate so I'll take his word for it lol. The crab dip was excellent with large pieces of lump crab and dipping bread. Lastly we tried the pimenton mac and cheese and it was excellent! Wasn't able to finish it all so we brought the rest home and my child polished it off so quickly I forgot I had leftovers lol. They also have an open kitchen so you can see your food being prepared. I love placed that do that because I like to see how my food is being handled. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. The bathroom is so pretty lol. Lots of photo opportunities if you're into that. We sat at the bar because it's my go to but there is plenty of table seating. The service was great. Everyone at the bar spoke to us and checked in with us even though they weren't our server. I always love a good attentive staff and this one is on point! read more

I had an amazing experience here on a Sunday! Stopped in for some bites and realised just how expansive and broad their menu is! The place is beautifully done and spacious ! Huge bar, adequate outdoor and indoor seating. I was super impressed with the decor and style. It's like resort casual, not too gaudy and upscale but just right. We also had amazing service by Tavis! I am a little obsessed with the mussels and need to go back for more. The drinks are also incredibly well priced. I'm definitely returning for happy hour one of these days read more
The Grill is one of my favorites in DC. The service and ambiance is always good. I always get the Cajun branzino. It's so good and seasoned to perfection. I pair it with the peppercorn sauce or the chimichurri. Either way, you can't go wrong! The sting beans with almonds are also good as well. If you're in the Wharf, stop by! read more

I guess my hunnie felt bad that our Friday night date adventure to Miss Toyas was a flop...he decided to show me up and make up for it tonight...Lol Tonight, after spending the evening on the water we dinned at the The Grill. Tonight the weather was a perfect evening to sit on the patio. So peaceful near the water. There was a slight breeze that gave a perfect summer evening, perfect for our a date night. Our server Justin was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the skirt steak with a side of bake twice baked potato and the creamed spinach. All- delicious and full of flavor. My steak was seasoned perfectly and so much I didn't even need any steak sauce. My husband just had the Grill Burger tonight with fries and along with some of my food. He too agreed that dinner was great! Only negative thing about dining at the wharf tonight was parking....after spending 20 mins riding around looking for parking I was reminded why we don't come into the city too often and if we do, we try to Uber lol... Oh! And for dessert we shared the Key Like pie and definitely cleaned that plate! All in all- I would come here again. Whether it's a girls/guys night out, to celebrate a birthday, date night or just to sit at the bar and have a drink- I think The Grill is an excellent choice! Happy Yelping! read more

Aside from our waitress, there were an entourage of managers or whom ever checking on us through out our meal. Amazing food! My family got steaks and salmon they enjoyed every bite. My scallops were exceptionally good, seared just right and not slimy. Our kids didn't have any issues with their food. Love the selection on the kids' menu. Something for everyone. Great service at the bar for happy hour eats. Thank you Juan! Hamburger was not overcooked, the smokiness and savory flavors from the bacon escalated this to a must have for next time. The lamb skewers are three bite morsels of gamy lamb- nicely seasoned with a light tzatziki sauce. Although the in house chips were delightfully light, not greasy.... The onion dip was too sweet for me. Overall great service, Jose the manager is very attentive and exudes warmth welcoming diners and focused on quality customer service! Solid 4.5! Hold on to your butts folks .... GLUTEN FREE CRAB CAKES !!!! No bread based filler, and it was a delight!! I already want to go back lol, fries hot and crispy despite them being slammed, I wish I remembered our servers name- we sat outside and he was fantastic. Our steak was perfectly cooked and tender. I know this is personal but the whole point of Cesar salad to me is the anchovies and garlic and that salty umami taste.... Ssooo when places are just doing a creamy sauce with tons of Parmesan & then anchovies on the side... I'm like meh- may as well call it something else ! Located at the Wharf, with a beautiful boardwalk and river view. The service was warm and efficient. The prices were comparable to the surrounding ones. The food was good. 4*SEASONAL CHOPPED salad included mango, strawberry, tomato, red onion, pecans, dried cheffies avocado, lemon vinaigrette: a good mix blend, light and healthy. 4*GRILLED CHEESE- included 4 pieces of grilled Finnish cow's milk cheese with pomegranate-honey and pistachios. Grilled really well with a crunchy touch. 4*TUNA CRUDO with passionfruit, ail amarillo, red onion, citrus, and cilantro. The orange sauce was unique with a slight spicy taste. 4*AVOCADO TOAST with jumbo lump crab, avocado and dill vinaigrette. Fresh and light. 4.5*FILET MIGNON: medium rare and it was very good. read more

Quite the dining experience! We decided to do dinner at the Grill before taking in a show at the Arena Stage. I have to start by saying that the entire staff was so amazing. Our server, Makenzie (I hope I spelled it correctly) was GREAT. She knew the menu so well and was able to manage multiple parties at the same time without missing a beat. The restaurant was pretty busy while we were there, but not loud at all. Our table shared a bunch of apps that I didn't get to snap a photo of before we devoured them LOL. But for my meal, I got the salmon and added a crab cake on the side. For dessert, I had the flourless chocolate cake. I appreciate great service and food and this place delivered both!
