Their service is TERRIBLE! We were waiting to be seat for a long time and we asked waitress but she was rude. We noticed waiter/waitress tends one to other here to there all over. It was unorganized. We noticed too many dirty cups piles on the bar (next to front door). Dirty plates piles corner here to there. We waited forever to get our drink. First waitress forgot. Second waiter (maybe it's manager??) forgot. Third waitress forgot it. Then first waitress finally got our drinks. Then third waitress checked to make sure we got drinks. Definitely come here for breakfast! It's not super busy in the AM during the weekdays, so you get an overall better experience. If you're into it, there's plenty of tv's around and pool tables for your own entertainment. But, the food was fantastic! The staff was communicative and on top of it with my dairy allergy, which is something that is hard to find at a lot of places! We are in town for basketball and ended up staying down the street from this place. We were looking for a decent sports bar to have some breakfast and watch football. FOUND IT! Good morning Wanted to share this.... Last Tuesday, while at our regular Taco Tuesday location, gateway grill, there was a verbal assault towards me from a very drunk patron for being a crossdresser and thier narrow view assuming I was gay, the GF and find this funny. The person eventually pissed off my GF and another great friend who were there as well. Once his brave smart mouth was being confronted he high tailed it out with one last string of stupidity as he moved across the parking lot. Yesterday I was at gateway grill, While there, many of the staff members came over to once again apologize for the drunk asshat issue. They shared, the person who was all mouthy was a regular and they would not stand for this type of behavior and have banned him from the restaurant. As they shared, they do hold regulars to a higher standard of behavior and this was not acceptable. The staff then all decided to wear shirts that following Friday (this past Friday) to wear shirts in support of the community and to show seridarity for me. The shirts was not management directed but the staff all agreed to do it themselves. I was really surprised to have such a reaction from a place of business to put in so much thought and have so many of the staff come and share that they are sorry the event took place. A COVID superspreader event is just waiting to happen here. I saw a customer inside the restaurant without a mask interacting jovially with a staff member, and the staff never asked him to wear a mask or wait outside. Poor ventilation in indoor waiting area near bar. Dining area is outdoors, but tables are very close to one another - definitely less than six feet with patrons speaking loudly / yelling across tables. Stay safe. Use caution. read more

The Gateway Taphouse is another establishment ran by the same folks who run Goodtimes, Sidelines, and Wetlands. My wife and I have been here twice since they opened. So far, this is a great place. The servers are very friendly and energetic. They have a mix of some veterans and some newbies, so be kind! This is going to be a great spot for watching Duck games, or any other major sporting event, they have 18 HD TV's that go from one end of the bar to the other. More importantly, they have 42 taps! Porters, IPA's, Lagers, Wheats, browns, stouts, ciders, reds, they have something for every pallet. Children are allowed until either 8 or 9pm, which makes me feel like this will draw a different crowd than the other watering holes such as Goodtimes and Sidelines. As of now, they have 1 pool table, and they plan on keeping it at that. They will be brining in Video Poker soon, and will have a banquet room available once construction is 100% complete. This should serve as a great spot for the hotels in the gateway area. So far I'm a fan, and this is starting to become our go to spot based on location and friendly service. read more

When I first started coming in here I was unsure of this place. I think because it was fairly new and I needed to give it a chance. I have been back several times now, and with that said they are consistent with their food, and getting better with their service. They are for sure working out their kinks. Because I have given up bread I am limited on what I can order, but I get the Cali chicken salad and this is pretty good. And so are the sweet potato fries, with the wings with sweet chili garlic sauce. We also have them make us a little dipping sauce for our sweet potato fries. Ketchup and sweet chili garlic sauce. Bomb.com! If ya don't know! Our friend was just in town and he got the Hawaiian burger. That looked so good!! He said it was really good, my guy usually either gets a burger or a pizza. I guess I can always get a bunless burger. I do it at Dickie Jo's all of the time. They serve it in a bowl with a piece of lettuce. One of the drinks I had was pretty good, I just wish I could remember the name of it. Lol I want to say faded and X-rated lol but I know that is not it! But it had some funky name like it. The prices were fair, so it wasn't a big deal. $20 for a burger and wrap and sides, definitely reasonable. The service was interesting. There was a woman waiting on our table who was great. But there was also a man who kept coming over and it was odd. First he brought my 6 month old crayons and a kid's menu and kids cup of water, no big. then she was babbling and he said something about shoving a chicken nugget in her mouth, I don't even know. He was loud and overbearing. (I'm loud. So it says a lot..) at one point he came to our table carrying a plate of food THAT HE WAS EATING FROM. It was just weird all around. read more

My buddy and I spotted this place on our way to another very popular place in the Gateway area and yes indeed, it is a sports bar. I would imagine it could get pretty wild during peak hours but when we went it was nice and easy going. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and was I ever impressed. The bun very soft, the steak which was smother in cheese was full of flavor, the beer list was huge and the service we found to be very prompt and friendly and the place itself was nice and clean and neat... the reason for minus 1 star, you might ask? Well, I thought they were a little skimpy with the tater tots that I ordered but all in all it was a very positive experience. I will be back. Time to update this review. The place done got better, I'm going to give them that fifth star with a smile, they earned it! I got the Philly Cheese Steak again and it was every bit as wonderful as the last time I was there. Rather than being skimpy on the Tater Tots this time the serving was quite generous, and also this time I went for the Cold Slaw and it was over the top great also. Good spot if you're looking for somewhere on a main road where you can have some beers with friends. Gateway Taphouse has lots of beers, lots of space and lots of TV's. However, those things do not make up for below average food, below average service and a confused identity. The prices are fine, but with the quality of food it seems expensive. Our $7.50 mozzarella sticks were bland and the cheese was not melted or hot. My burger and fries were fine, but didn't stand out one way or another. Although they were busy, it wasn't a packed house. They didn't have enough menus and our waitress forgot my water. The space seems geared toward a low-key bar, but they offer breakfast and even though say they're family friendly, don't have a kid menu. I doubt I'll return, but if I do it will be to watch a game and have a beer...after I've had dinner. read more

This place has gone from a to a for me. Went for a 1:00pm lunch had to be at a RiverBend at 2:15, which was never a problem before. There were not to many people there, only in one booth on the bar side. All the booths were dirty but sat down in the cleanest one. The server was at the til standing there looking around. I had gone ahead so I could order. When my friend arrived 5 minutes later she went to the server and ask her to clean the table and bring water and that we were ready to order. The server took 5 minutes to do those few things after stopping to chat with a fella at the bat. We both ordered a salad. At 1:35 the server came back to the table and told us she "forgot to put our order in". We thought she was kidding, but no so we did not have time to wait and had to leave. Their food is pretty decent, regular pub stuff. Been going here for a couple of years, and the service isn't as good as it used to be. You need to wait to be seated, which is fine, but when 3 or 4 waiter/waitresses walk by and don't even acknowledge you, it's pretty irritating. This week I asked the waitress how many pot stickers you get when you order them and she just stood there with a blank stare on her face. So, you serve here but you don't know what or how much you serve? Once she served us we didn't see her until we were ready to go. We won't be coming back for while. read more

This review is solely based off of my experience last night and does not reflect on the other staff at this joint other than the very rude and inconsiderate "bartender/waitress" Kayla. Let me start this by saying, I frequent this restaurant and have loved the experience here almost every time! Service has been slower than normal but that's not rare right now in these times. The issue that occurred last night has me second guessing if I will ever return here which is sad because they have the BEST steak bites and I love eating brunch outside by the fire pits! I rode with a friend, in their car, and had forgotten my mask in my vehicle at home. He was wearing his mask and I planned to grab one from the bar once we got inside. We were not greeted by Kayla so I turned and asked my friend if he wanted to just sit at the bar while we waited for our nachos that we had called ahead for. The closest bar stool was only three feet away from the entrance which was also conveniently located right next to the box of masks that I would have had to walk to to get in the first place. I sat down just as Kayla looked up and very rudely asked "do you have a face mask?!" I replied " No, I left mine in the car. I'm so sorry but I'm sitting now so I'm safe!" Just as I answered my friend grabbed one from the box and handed me a mask. Kayla stormed over to us and again, rudely said " I don't care where you left it, it's the rules. If you get up to leave or you go to the bathroom, wear it!" as she gestured toward the mask. I smiled very nervously at this point because she was making a scene in front of the entire bar and honestly it was embarrassing, I felt like I was being scolded by my mother!! I said "I'm not arguing with you. I planned to grab one once we got inside and then saw the empty seats right next to the box so we sat here. We are just picking up our food." She ignored me and walked to the window of the kitchen, and when I say "hucked" I am not saying it lightly, she hucked our sides of jalapenos, salsa, sour cream into the bag and then hucked the to go box over top of the sauces, walked to the bar and hucked it on to the counter in front of me, walked to the computer to ring us up. I mentioned her attitude and asked her name. I then asked for a manager when she refused to give me her name. Andrew walked out and genuinely apologized for her attitude and the way we were just treated. You could tell he was exhausted and over the evening so I didn't push anything further. The entire time I was speaking to Andrew, Kayla is behind the bar yelling, "Funny how your attitude changed!" I wanted to yell back, he doesn't sign my paycheck, no reason for mine to change but you may want to change yours! But instead, I paid for my food, regretfully and left. After we got home, all I wanted was to chow down on those nachos and go to bed. To put the cherry on top, the chips were so stale. This is the first time I have been dissatisfied here with the food and had the service been better, I would not be leaving a negative review but because of the absurd service from Kayla I felt it was needed. I understand being in a bad mood but as single mother who treats her self very rarely with dinner out, I didn't pay $15.00 for stale nachos that went to waste just to be embarrassed and harassed by the staff here. I waited over ten minutes before anyone asked what i wanted to order, and drink refills equally as long! The food was pretty damn awful as well and priced about double what it should be for the quality! The hot wings are more or less just 5 wings tossed in some light franks red hot and fried up - that's it for $10-their bacon cheese fries (gameday special) were ok--but came out cold and soggy--this place is trying to be two things at once--a taphouse/local cheap dive sports bar and the hybrid just doesn't seem to fit. Terrible service, mediocre food, and I'm pretty sure it's what gave me this gnarly case of food poisoning. 3 friends and I tried this place out on Sunday evening when looking for a new weekly spot in the area. We arrived at about 7:15pm and followed the "seat yourself" instructions and helped ourselves to a booth. It wasn't busy and it appeared one server and one bartender were working, which should have been plenty. Most of the other customers were sitting at the bar, with maybe 4 other parties at tables when we arrived, which dwindled to 2 by the time we left. We grabbed our own menus from the bar (no big deal) and when the female server arrived to take our order, I ordered my beer. My friends were still figuring out which menu was food vs. beer, so they weren't quite ready, but she wasn't even patient enough to wait for the rest of the table's drink orders. It would have been 10 seconds tops. It was a little odd, since she really didn't have enough tables to seem so busy, but we wrote it off. We ordered our food, which was very middle-of-the-road sports bar cuisine. I got a spicy chicken wrap with coleslaw on the side. Their selection of sides is something I liked, but it turned out they were out of every other side except for the coleslaw or fries. No potato salad, no cottage cheese. This is something I found out when my friend tried to order the finger steaks to find out they were out. "oh and we're also out of x and y and z and p and q". Sheesh. She came to bus our table, noticed my beer was empty, and asked if I needed another. I said yes, she served me a beer, and that was the last time she visited our table without it being like pulling teeth. Unfortunately, she didn't ever give us her name, otherwise I would have literally yelled it, since I'd tried everything else. When she'd walk by, I tried making eye contact. That wasn't enough, despite both me and a friend swearing we locked eyes with here at different times. We added a polite waive. I'd try a very audible "excuse me, we need...". I made eye contact and literally raised my long-ass arm (I'm 6'3") all the way up and waived it back and forth like an eager know-it-all schoolkid. All to no avail, it seemed like we were being intentionally ignored. We ordered more drinks at the bar. When one friend wanted to close out, he asked the bartender and he wrangled her for us. She came, dropped off his check, and picked it up. Never did she ask the rest of us if we needed anything, like, ya know, OUR CHECKS TOO!?! When we finally got our checks, we wanted to ask her on the way out if we'd done something wrong, especially because we noticed how few other tables she was serving by the time we left. However, she disappeared right after we paid our bills. When we walked out into the parking lot, we noticed she had slipped out the back and walked to her car. I watched her walk directly back inside. Not long enough to be an actual 5 or 15 minute break, she just walked out mid-shift to go do something in he car. Huh. Well today I feel like absolute garbage. Nauseous, diarrhea, body aches. The only thing I ate differently than my wife in the last 48 hours was that spicy chicken wrap and coleslaw, and i usually have a much stronger stomach than she does. I can't say for sure, but my medical professional wife is certainly convinced it was Gateway Grill. Either way, I'd avoid this place at all costs. read more

I was in town for work so I decided to visit the Gateway Grill. The reviews were mixed and I didn't know what to expect. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and asked for extra sauerkraut. The Reuben sandwich was the thinnest Reuben sandwich I have ever seen in my life. It consisted of three slices of corn beef, and there was barely any sauerkraut on it. I was charged for the extra sauerkraut, but if that was extra sauerkraut, it was sorely lacking. Once I got done eating, they cleared my table, but then no one came by to ask me if I wanted dessert or if I wanted to check or if I needed anything else. When I was getting ready to get up, I finally saw a waitress and flagged her down and said I wanted to pay. Didn't ask me how the service wise didn't ask me how the food was. Ive been coming here for a while now and Ive seen staff mistakes - and Ive seen them grow up and really improve. In fact, Ive grown to really enjoy their company. And Ive recognized some new friends along the way. I started playing pool in the last half dozen visits - that's been a lot of fun. I really like the beer selection especially the high tech tap heads that keep the beer really cold and fresh. Today I stopped in to play little beer and drink a little pool (hehe). What do I see? No pool tables. Im really bummed because this was another reason to stay. This means I won't be able to come in as often. To the owner: instead of losing business perhaps its time for a build-out? This spot has a great selection of beers from local breweries, the food is tasty and affordable, but it will take you forever to get served. I'm sitting at the bar right now, the only person at the bar, and it took 12 minutes for someone to talk to me. I would have gone to a table, but from past experiences, that takes longer. Beyond unimpressed. I attempted to eat here the other day. I showed up with a group of four and we were never greeted so we assumed we seated ourselves. We walked by the bartender who acknowledged us with a head nod and took our seat in a booth. It took a little over 5 minutes for someone to come over and check our IDs then they walked away. About 5-10 minutes later they came back and asked if they could get us a drink. I was asking if they had a beer list or a menu and they cut me off and told me to come over to the bar when I was ready to order. I kind of find it hard to order food or drinks when you don't know what is served, don't you think? As someone who works in the customer service industry I found my experience to be an undesirable one. Due to the lack of even decent service and inability to acquire a menu my group and I left.
