Sometimes you go looking for breakfast and end up discovering a place that makes you question every breakfast you've ever had before it. That was French Pantry in St. Augustine. We chose this spot for breakfast/brunch and what a fantastic find. The atmosphere is beautiful and upscale without feeling like you need to whisper or worry that you're holding your fork incorrectly. I went with the Gruyère cheese and ham omelette, and honestly, I'm not sure how they managed to make eggs this light. The omelette was delicate, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. The kind of breakfast where you take a bite and immediately start thinking, "Well, now I'm going to have to compare every omelette I eat from this point forward." My wife ordered the spinach and mushroom quiche, which can only be described as decadent. Rich, flavorful, and the kind of dish that makes you slow down and appreciate what's happening on the plate. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service was spectacular, and the entire experience felt like a special occasion even though we were simply there for breakfast. French Pantry was a fantastic find and absolutely deserving of five stars. The French Pantry in St. Augustine surprised me -- way more upscale than I expected, especially if you've been to the Jacksonville spot. That one's more grab-and-go bakery vibes, but this location is full-on fine dining. Spacious, elegant decor, the kind of place you'd actually dress up a little for. We got the chicken panini, bang bang shrimp, and pesto bucatini, and honestly all three were really good. Nothing fell flat. The bucatini had great flavor, the shrimp had that perfect crunch with a good kick, and the panini was solid comfort food done right. Service was great too -- attentive without hovering. While staying in the area we decided to stop in and get a few pieces of wedding cake for later. The parking lot is paid parking which seemed a little strange for a restaurant with a parking lot, I don't know maybe it's privately owned. This is a beautiful little restaurant, we were greeted once we entered by a very friendly hostess, she directed us to the pastry counter once she understood our intentions - everything looked delicious and after only a minute or two a friendly member of the staff prepared our order (2) slices of wedding cake. This is definitely a restaurant I'd return to for lunch based on the food I observed while waiting for our takeout, everything looked delicious. Unfortunately the wedding cake was so disappointing it was pre-sliced and wrapped in the case, it was very cold and heavy, the filling was very thin but made the layers soggy like it had been made a few days earlier and sat and it had very little icing - this was so disappointing especially after going out of our way to get here and fighting the St. Augustine traffic. I'd like to try something from their sandwich menu and maybe a loaf of their fresh baked bread but definitely will avoid anything out of the dessert case... read more

Can you say reservation! That's what I recommend if you want to visit The French Pantry on a hoping night like Saturday. Luckily we grabbed the last table before the crowd showed up. We were seated right near the hostess. Great view of the street action on Granada. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was spot on with all our needs. The food was delicious. Started with the artichoke prosciutto bruschetta and finished with the Kobe burger and French dip. A few cons; the glasses and silverware at the table were not clear and water stained. (Made me question cleanliness of dishes). Although the view was spectacular, we were bothered by all the people waiting for tables (lots of noise and no privacy). Finally, waiter boxed food, we seemed to be missing a few items (fries and the dip for French dip). All-in-all, we'll try again and will even try adjoining restaurants (with a reservation). read more

The location is gorgeous and I loved having a window seat. The bread service and my muffulata sandwich were both excellent. I had to try their famous Wedding Cake slice which I got to go. It was good but I prefer buttercream frosting, so I'd choose another slice next time. Service was a bit disappointing as my server walked past me three times before greeting me or acknowledging she was my server. There were only a few of other tables taken & she wasn't covering all of them so it should not have taken so long to be greeted. read more

The Jacksonville location of FP has been one of my all time favorite lunch spots, so I had very high hopes for the St Augustine location. I was not disappointed. First, I need to tell you that this is a very different location, it features: - full bar - dinner hours (open till 8:00 PM) - a private dining room - cooking classes - dinner menu - a beautiful and large dining room. Second, the things you found great at the original location: - fabulous desserts - bang bang shrimp - bruschetta in all shapes and sizes - all your favorites But you want to read about the food, not my comparison of the two locations: Beer - good selection of beer and wine, we tried the Intuition Beer that is so popular in this area. It did lot disappoint. Truffle Fries - thinly sliced, served with a delicious homemade aoli. French Onion Soup - traditional presentation, but a slightly sweeter finish. I did not love it, but the cheese and bread were delicious. Bang Bang Shrimp Po Boy - delicious presentation, perfectly cooked shrimp, really delicious. Chicken Pesto Pannini - this was very dry, and I really think I was missing the pesto, so I used the aoli I mentioned earlier. Presentation and the dryness just did not impress me. Oatmeal Cookie - I love a good oatmeal cookie, and this was good. Wedding Cake - another delicious choice. Overall, this is just a fantastic spot and parking is plentiful, which is rare in SA. read more

I was so excited to try the St. Augustine location of the French Pantry. I was even more excited that we could make a reservation, which is completely unlike our experience at the Jacksonville spot! It wasn't at all crowded, and we were seated right away. It's a really lovely space: bright, fresh, and airy. We skipped cocktails (but will definitely be back to try some things from their bar menu), and dove into our order. Our server was extremely helpful and we finally decided to split two items: the mozzarella bruschetta and the bang bang shrimp po boy with fries. I only had one piece of the complimentary bread and olive oil to save room for the lunch ahead. The bruschetta was delicious... more fresh bread, topped with fresh mozzarella and served with a heaping portion of some of the best bruschetta I've ever had. The shrimp po boy was also delicious: the shrimp was HUGE and well seasoned without heavy breading. And the fries are always super crispy and hot. Yum. I would also love to compliment the attention to detail: we ordered the po boy without cheese (I just don't prefer cheese on my shrimp) and the manager came over to ask about it. She wanted to make sure there wasn't a dairy allergy at the table, because the tempura batter on the shrimp had dairy in it. It did take me a little off guard, but we both appreciated it... for someone with an allergy, this consideration would have saved the day. We were stuffed, but took dessert to go: cheesecake for our son, the farmer's tart for my husband (a lighter version of cheesecake) and the yum yum cake for me (light chocolate cake, layered with cream and ganache and served with a strawberry pure). We enjoyed our food. They were kind and helpful of getting us a seat, even though we didn't have a reservation. They were very busy when we arrived so I feel like it is a good idea to make one. Our nice server Natalie P was prompt and provided a good service. The food is tasty we ordered the French dip to share and the Portobello bruschetta. We enjoyed both. This is my first experience with French Pantry believe it or not. My high school friends wanted to meet up in St. Augustine for a change of scenery on a Saturday and one friend suggested here and we were all down. I did not realize that they take reservations so a few days before I made one for our group thru Resy just in case it got crazy. You have to provide a card for the reservation because if you no-show or cancel within 8 hours they'll charge you $2 per person. I wasn't worried about that at all because we. were. going! There's parking behind the building but it can fill up quickly and if that happens you'll need to use the paid parking lots. Also we had someone on crutches in our party so the ramp to the building is in the back. The place is very nice! The bakery case and barista area was against the back wall by the front entrance and the bar is opposite of the front door. The contrast of brick and wood worked well. Our server Tom was great. We started with some truffle fries as we waited for one more person to come (she works in healthcare so she was understandably running late). These were hot and crispy and the truffle taste was very subtle. When she arrived we were given some bread with olive oil with herbal seasonings. I had 2 different cocktails. I tried the Lychee Basil Daiquiri (Rhum Clement agricole, lychee liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup, basil leaves) which was nice but bitter to me. I later tried the Nirvana du Jardin (Wheatley vodka, St. Elderflower liqueur, lemongrass syrup, meyer lemon juice, basil) which was much better. I originally was going to get the Charcuterie board but I caved and went for the Prosciutto and Artichoke bruschetta (prosciutto, artichokes, fresh mozzarella, pesto) that also comes with a "salad" in the center topped with marinated tomatoes shaped like how a tartare is served. Everything was delicious. The mozzarella was slightly melted on the baguette slices allowing everything else on top of it to stay in place, sort of. I couldn't eat all of the salad greens and tomatoes though. And we couldn't leave without getting dessert! I got a slice of Wedding Cake and a small box of Russian Tea Cookies, both to go. When I got home I tried the cake and it's very good. My guy tried the cookies to which he said "definitely need something to drink with it, otherwise it's good." Highly recommend reservations if you go. About 30-40 mins after sitting at our table the place filled up. read more

Came here on a Monday for lunch, so they were not too busy. This location is connected to the Vietnamese restaurant Little Miss Ha and you can also order from their menu if you are seated at the bar. They have free limited parking at the back and more pay parking on the side of the establishment. We started with the complimentary bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. However, the wait time was approximately thirty minutes for our orders, possibly due to the Wagyu burger requiring extra cooking time. It would've been appreciated to be offered another plate of their bread while waiting, instead, we had to asked. The burger turned out really good and juicy. My Spinach, Onion & Bacon Bruschetta was also tasty but there was a lot going on with all the ingredients, flavor wise. The establishment offers a variety of dinner options beyond sandwiches. Wow, just wow! My mom and I have been going to the original French Pantry in Jax since we moved here years ago. We've ALWAYS loved it, however the parking sucked, and so did their hours. This place, however, is completely different. It had everything the OG had, but knocked it up several notches. Including the parking and hours We started with some dumplings (not pictured, sadly), which were fabulous. I love that they've integrated the restaurant next door to add some diversity to their menu. My turkey sandwich was amazing. The turkey was so thinly sliced, and the goat cheese was so creamy. The flavors danced in my mouth, and the whole thing was SUPER filling. I left full and happy. I can't remember what my family got, but I know all of us were pleased. My mai tai was the best I've had in forever, and my moms martini was also yummy. My sister got a mimosa, and she loved it! The service was wonderful, the place was packed so we sat at the bar. Our bartender was sweet and attentive. These people take pride in their place of work and it's refreshing. Lastly, it's adorable! The bar was stunning and the restaurant itself was laid out so well. Spacious but not too empty, with cute decor everywhere you look. They also have not one, but TWO bathrooms! French Pantry opened another restaurant in St Aug! We were very happy to learn this bec the restaurant we were going to was closed for a 2 week vacation (during the holiday season?!?) and we were late for lunch as it was! Not like the original one in Jax. you go in a remodeled building near Lightner Museum and you are immediately seated (no waiting in line) your given a menu with prices (no having to guess the prices). The free warm bread and olive oil spices were appreciated. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food seems the same except they service breakfast and dinner too! I got the shrimp/artichoke bruschetta with a huge, minced tomatoes salad in the center of the plate-delicious! Hubby got Reubin (told it was cooked on premise) but he said was little too fatty?! I was recently reminded of an experience I had here a few months ago while in St Augustine with friends. We had a horrible experience with the hostess and a guest. As you enter the restaurant, the area near the host stand is a little cramped so we were behind two parties waiting to check in with the host. As we are next in line a woman barges in, getting in front of us to speak with the host. I kindly noted to her the line both in front and behind us and she said "I don't care, I have a reservation." This rude behavior was seemingly rewarded as the host disregarded the other person at the stand and those in line (who also had reservations but were rightfully waiting) and checked her in and seated her. I was honestly baffled and it turned me off to the restaurant overall. This has never happened to me before. Bartenders were friendly, but the hostess definitely needs training (this was on a Friday in July.) We ended up redeeming our French pantry experience by trying the Jacksonville location later that weekend which was a much better experience overall. read more

Ambiance was lovely and our server, Desiree was attentive and gave us great information of the 2 restaurants, one French and the other Vietnamese, located on site. Visited The French Pantry in Saint Augustine for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the experience! They gave us some bread while we waited for lunch and that was delicious. We split the mozzarella bruschetta, which was a highlight--fresh, creamy mozzarella paired with perfectly toasted bread and vibrant tomatoes and also the Bam Bam Shrimp Po' Boy, and it was a good choice. The shrimp were crispy and well-seasoned and it was a huge sandwich. The bread was fresh, though I wish it had been a crispier to get that crunch. Portion sizes again and were great for sharing, and the sandwich we ordered fries as well. For dessert, we grabbed a couple of their house-made cakes to go (couldn't resist after hearing they're known for their desserts!). We got them packaged up nicely and will enjoy them later--absolutely delicious and worth the hype. The Parisian café vibe of the place added a charming touch to the meal, and the service was on point. Overall, a great spot for gourmet sandwiches and treats in Saint Augustine. Today I was driving back from Orlando and decided to stop here for lunch. I arrived around 11 a.m. and was quickly seated at a table near the window. The restaurant is bright and beautiful. There is also a parking lot behind the restaurant for free parking. The menu offers seven appetizers, thirteen sandwiches, seven salads, seven different bruschettas, and a few burgers. I asked my server for recommendations and she said the reuben was her favorite. I took her advice and was not disappointed. It was probably the best one I have ever had. I also added a side salad and it was very good as well. I stopped at the bakery counter on my way out and picked up a chocolate croissant and a chocolate twist for my husband. The French Pantry opened a St. Augustine location in April 2025. My dining companion and I were advised the original location is in Jacksonville and has been in continuous operation since 1995. This is a great fit for St. Augustine. We arrived on a Sunday morning in mid-August. I couldn't believe how empty the streets were at this hour. Maybe it's just too early or maybe travelers have returned home because schools were starting the next day. Parking is plentiful before 9 am. The restaurant is inviting from the outside. Large picture windows with items you'd find in a French bakery etched or decaled on the windows. The dining area is expansive and extends from the bar, to the central dining area and around the corner to a long hallway of dining. There is a bakery/order counter in the center upon entrance. There are enticing goodies in the case including croissants, chocolate croissants, blondies, carrot cake, etc. They all look appealing. I can't say enough nice things about the gal running the counter. She single-handedly took order, delivered food, bussed tables, and checked on each table while we were dining. She was personable and courteous. My dining companion ordered the French toast, which was served with creme fresh. The French toast ($14) was lightly coated in the traditional egg mixture and was cooked perfectly. I ordered the ham and cheese omlette ($11), which was served with fresh greens and a champagne vinagrette. We split a croissant, which was light and airy. Though we didn't need reservations for breakfast as there were only 4 other dining groups seated, we were advised reservations for lunch and dinner are HIGLY recommended as the wait could stretch over an hour. A little New Year Day decompress adventure with the first review of the new year. After slogging thru traffic we decide that we should try the French pantry in Saint Augustine. We had high expectations based on a number of visits to the French Pantry in Jacksonville. We were pleasantly surprised that there was no line to stand in and it was sit down table service. There was extensive menu with the same great sandwich selection. The starters that included starting off with escargot was a very pleasant app to start of with. For my main it was a wonderfully packed crispy pastrami sandwich with a side of macaroni salad done in a vinaigrette. For dessert, we decided to go with a dozen PEI oysters that were just perfect size and fresh. The table service was impeccable, and the young lady that waited on us deserves some serious recognition from French Pantry. Her name was Colin. Unfortunately the kitchen was very slow at preparing meals and yet the restaurant was not even close to capacity. The restaurant was very well designed with plenty of light and very fresh feel. Prices were very reasonable and did not reflect what you may expect in such a popular tourist destination. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough when you're visiting Saint Augustine. It's kind of off the beaten path from the usual main tourist routes. read more

Our second visit and the food served was not as good as the first. Our Caesar salad was drenched in dressing for all 4 of us, some were send back. The kitchen was quick to resolve the issue. The Kobe burger this time was too well done and tasted like a regular burger. The chicken sandwich had a small piece of chicken and was a little mushy. The noise level was fine. We went with friend who have been here before and they to were surprised with the difference from previous meals.
