Sometimes you go looking for breakfast and end up discovering a place that makes you question every breakfast you've ever had before it. That was French Pantry in St. Augustine. We chose this spot for breakfast/brunch and what a fantastic find. The atmosphere is beautiful and upscale without feeling like you need to whisper or worry that you're holding your fork incorrectly. I went with the Gruyère cheese and ham omelette, and honestly, I'm not sure how they managed to make eggs this light. The omelette was delicate, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. The kind of breakfast where you take a bite and immediately start thinking, "Well, now I'm going to have to compare every omelette I eat from this point forward." My wife ordered the spinach and mushroom quiche, which can only be described as decadent. Rich, flavorful, and the kind of dish that makes you slow down and appreciate what's happening on the plate. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service was spectacular, and the entire experience felt like a special occasion even though we were simply there for breakfast. French Pantry was a fantastic find and absolutely deserving of five stars. If you're in St. Augustine looking for a breakfast or brunch experience that feels a little elevated, this is one to put on your list.

The French Pantry in St. Augustine surprised me -- way more upscale than I expected, especially if you've been to the Jacksonville spot. That one's more grab-and-go bakery vibes, but this location is full-on fine dining. Spacious, elegant decor, the kind of place you'd actually dress up a little for. We got the chicken panini, bang bang shrimp, and pesto bucatini, and honestly all three were really good. Nothing fell flat. The bucatini had great flavor, the shrimp had that perfect crunch with a good kick, and the panini was solid comfort food done right. Service was great too -- attentive without hovering. If you only know them from Jacksonville, this location is a totally different experience. Worth the trip.
Pricey but very delicious food. I love everything except for the crème brûlée. The seafoods were fresh and the seasonings were perfectly executed. The sugar crust on top of the creme brulee was too thick.
While staying in the area we decided to stop in and get a few pieces of wedding cake for later. The parking lot is paid parking which seemed a little strange for a restaurant with a parking lot, I don't know maybe it's privately owned. This is a beautiful little restaurant, we were greeted once we entered by a very friendly hostess, she directed us to the pastry counter once she understood our intentions - everything looked delicious and after only a minute or two a friendly member of the staff prepared our order (2) slices of wedding cake. This is definitely a restaurant I'd return to for lunch based on the food I observed while waiting for our takeout, everything looked delicious. Unfortunately the wedding cake was so disappointing it was pre-sliced and wrapped in the case, it was very cold and heavy, the filling was very thin but made the layers soggy like it had been made a few days earlier and sat and it had very little icing - this was so disappointing especially after going out of our way to get here and fighting the St. Augustine traffic. I'd like to try something from their sandwich menu and maybe a loaf of their fresh baked bread but definitely will avoid anything out of the dessert case...
Can you say reservation! That's what I recommend if you want to visit The French Pantry on a hoping night like Saturday. Luckily we grabbed the last table before the crowd showed up. We were seated right near the hostess. Great view of the street action on Granada. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was spot on with all our needs. The food was delicious. Started with the artichoke prosciutto bruschetta and finished with the Kobe burger and French dip. A few cons; the glasses and silverware at the table were not clear and water stained. (Made me question cleanliness of dishes). Although the view was spectacular, we were bothered by all the people waiting for tables (lots of noise and no privacy). Finally, waiter boxed food, we seemed to be missing a few items (fries and the dip for French dip). All-in-all, we'll try again and will even try adjoining restaurants (with a reservation).
Order the Hugo Spritz and don't skip the oysters. Great selection, and beautiful venue. This is a must stop when you are in STA.
The Jacksonville location of FP has been one of my all time favorite lunch spots, so I had very high hopes for the St Augustine location. I was not disappointed. First, I need to tell you that this is a very different location, it features: - full bar - dinner hours (open till 8:00 PM) - a private dining room - cooking classes - dinner menu - a beautiful and large dining room. Second, the things you found great at the original location: - fabulous desserts - bang bang shrimp - bruschetta in all shapes and sizes - all your favorites But you want to read about the food, not my comparison of the two locations: Beer - good selection of beer and wine, we tried the Intuition Beer that is so popular in this area. It did lot disappoint. Truffle Fries - thinly sliced, served with a delicious homemade aoli. French Onion Soup - traditional presentation, but a slightly sweeter finish. I did not love it, but the cheese and bread were delicious. Bang Bang Shrimp Po Boy - delicious presentation, perfectly cooked shrimp, really delicious. Chicken Pesto Pannini - this was very dry, and I really think I was missing the pesto, so I used the aoli I mentioned earlier. Presentation and the dryness just did not impress me. Oatmeal Cookie - I love a good oatmeal cookie, and this was good. Wedding Cake - another delicious choice. Overall, this is just a fantastic spot and parking is plentiful, which is rare in SA.
The location is gorgeous and I loved having a window seat. The bread service and my muffulata sandwich were both excellent. I had to try their famous Wedding Cake slice which I got to go. It was good but I prefer buttercream frosting, so I'd choose another slice next time. Service was a bit disappointing as my server walked past me three times before greeting me or acknowledging she was my server. There were only a few of other tables taken & she wasn't covering all of them so it should not have taken so long to be greeted.
Food: 4 Stars Service: 5 Stars After walking around under the Florida sun, The French Pastry seemed like a gift from God- cool, breezy, delicious cocktails, tasty entrees, and a mouthwatering dessert case for you to gawk at. My bang bang shrimp po boy overflowed with succulent shrimp and fresh veggies. Paired with fries, I really didn't have room for dessert but their carrot cake was calling my name. Loved the layers of moist cake and rich cream cheese frosting! Highly recommend checking this place out!
I was so excited to try the St. Augustine location of the French Pantry. I was even more excited that we could make a reservation, which is completely unlike our experience at the Jacksonville spot! It wasn't at all crowded, and we were seated right away. It's a really lovely space: bright, fresh, and airy. We skipped cocktails (but will definitely be back to try some things from their bar menu), and dove into our order. Our server was extremely helpful and we finally decided to split two items: the mozzarella bruschetta and the bang bang shrimp po boy with fries. I only had one piece of the complimentary bread and olive oil to save room for the lunch ahead. The bruschetta was delicious... more fresh bread, topped with fresh mozzarella and served with a heaping portion of some of the best bruschetta I've ever had. The shrimp po boy was also delicious: the shrimp was HUGE and well seasoned without heavy breading. And the fries are always super crispy and hot. Yum. I would also love to compliment the attention to detail: we ordered the po boy without cheese (I just don't prefer cheese on my shrimp) and the manager came over to ask about it. She wanted to make sure there wasn't a dairy allergy at the table, because the tempura batter on the shrimp had dairy in it. It did take me a little off guard, but we both appreciated it... for someone with an allergy, this consideration would have saved the day. We were stuffed, but took dessert to go: cheesecake for our son, the farmer's tart for my husband (a lighter version of cheesecake) and the yum yum cake for me (light chocolate cake, layered with cream and ganache and served with a strawberry pure). Absolutely worth it. Can't wait to return to try some other offerings!
We absolutely love The French Pantry! Going out of town for the weekend and planned our route so that we could stop in for lunch. The Hot Italian is a solid choice anytime. The Muffulata was just okay. The fries are excellent and the wedding cake is our go-to dessert. Last time we also got a bruschetta to share which was amazing. Always great service and the view isn't too shabby!
We enjoyed our food. They were kind and helpful of getting us a seat, even though we didn't have a reservation. They were very busy when we arrived so I feel like it is a good idea to make one. Our nice server Natalie P was prompt and provided a good service. The food is tasty we ordered the French dip to share and the Portobello bruschetta. We enjoyed both. They also have an amazing cake situation at the counter and you can eat that at the restaurant or take to go. We chose to take it to go. I've had their cakes before, and they are amazing!

Oh là là! From the very first bite, I was no longer in America... I was in France! I could almost hear the accordion playing as I imagined myself sitting at a little café in Paris. The turkey croissant... magnifique! Truly one of the BEST croissants I have ever tasted. So buttery, so flaky, so perfectly delicate that every bite felt like a little French love affair. C'est magnifique, mes amis! And then came the quiche... Ohhh, the quiche! Rich, delicate, savory, and absolutely divine. The kind of food that makes you close your eyes for a moment and whisper, "Mon Dieu... where have you been all my life?" The French Pantry isn't simply a café--it is a little escape to France without needing a passport. The flavors, the atmosphere, the pastries... everything made me feel as though I had discovered a charming hidden café somewhere along the streets of Paris. Bravo, The French Pantry! Really solid Eggs Benedict. The muffin was nicely toasted, eggs were perfectly poached with runny yolks, and the hollandaise was creamy and tangy. Hash browns were crispy. Only minor thing was the ham was a bit on the salty side. read more

This is my first experience with French Pantry believe it or not. My high school friends wanted to meet up in St. Augustine for a change of scenery on a Saturday and one friend suggested here and we were all down. I did not realize that they take reservations so a few days before I made one for our group thru Resy just in case it got crazy. You have to provide a card for the reservation because if you no-show or cancel within 8 hours they'll charge you $2 per person. I wasn't worried about that at all because we. were. going! There's parking behind the building but it can fill up quickly and if that happens you'll need to use the paid parking lots. Also we had someone on crutches in our party so the ramp to the building is in the back. The place is very nice! The bakery case and barista area was against the back wall by the front entrance and the bar is opposite of the front door. The contrast of brick and wood worked well. Our server Tom was great. We started with some truffle fries as we waited for one more person to come (she works in healthcare so she was understandably running late). These were hot and crispy and the truffle taste was very subtle. When she arrived we were given some bread with olive oil with herbal seasonings. I had 2 different cocktails. I tried the Lychee Basil Daiquiri (Rhum Clement agricole, lychee liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup, basil leaves) which was nice but bitter to me. I later tried the Nirvana du Jardin (Wheatley vodka, St. Elderflower liqueur, lemongrass syrup, meyer lemon juice, basil) which was much better. I originally was going to get the Charcuterie board but I caved and went for the Prosciutto and Artichoke bruschetta (prosciutto, artichokes, fresh mozzarella, pesto) that also comes with a "salad" in the center topped with marinated tomatoes shaped like how a tartare is served. Everything was delicious. The mozzarella was slightly melted on the baguette slices allowing everything else on top of it to stay in place, sort of. I couldn't eat all of the salad greens and tomatoes though. And we couldn't leave without getting dessert! I got a slice of Wedding Cake and a small box of Russian Tea Cookies, both to go. When I got home I tried the cake and it's very good. My guy tried the cookies to which he said "definitely need something to drink with it, otherwise it's good." Highly recommend reservations if you go. About 30-40 mins after sitting at our table the place filled up. read more
Came here on a Monday for lunch, so they were not too busy. This location is connected to the Vietnamese restaurant Little Miss Ha and you can also order from their menu if you are seated at the bar. They have free limited parking at the back and more pay parking on the side of the establishment. We started with the complimentary bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. However, the wait time was approximately thirty minutes for our orders, possibly due to the Wagyu burger requiring extra cooking time. It would've been appreciated to be offered another plate of their bread while waiting, instead, we had to asked. The burger turned out really good and juicy. My Spinach, Onion & Bacon Bruschetta was also tasty but there was a lot going on with all the ingredients, flavor wise. The establishment offers a variety of dinner options beyond sandwiches. We look forward to returning for dinner in the future. read more
Wow, just wow! My mom and I have been going to the original French Pantry in Jax since we moved here years ago. We've ALWAYS loved it, however the parking sucked, and so did their hours. This place, however, is completely different. It had everything the OG had, but knocked it up several notches. Including the parking and hours We started with some dumplings (not pictured, sadly), which were fabulous. I love that they've integrated the restaurant next door to add some diversity to their menu. My turkey sandwich was amazing. The turkey was so thinly sliced, and the goat cheese was so creamy. The flavors danced in my mouth, and the whole thing was SUPER filling. I left full and happy. I can't remember what my family got, but I know all of us were pleased. My mai tai was the best I've had in forever, and my moms martini was also yummy. My sister got a mimosa, and she loved it! The service was wonderful, the place was packed so we sat at the bar. Our bartender was sweet and attentive. These people take pride in their place of work and it's refreshing. Lastly, it's adorable! The bar was stunning and the restaurant itself was laid out so well. Spacious but not too empty, with cute decor everywhere you look. They also have not one, but TWO bathrooms! Hahah not sure why, but I loved this! I cannot wait to come back! read more

I met friends for a dinner prior to Night of Lights. The service on a Monday evening was ok but not very fast, we had to ask for our check when dinner was served so we could make our 9pm appointment. I ordered a salad and was a bit disappointed at how plain it was. I am just saying this because I don't want others to have my experience. read more

French Pantry opened another restaurant in St Aug! We were very happy to learn this bec the restaurant we were going to was closed for a 2 week vacation (during the holiday season?!?) and we were late for lunch as it was! Not like the original one in Jax. you go in a remodeled building near Lightner Museum and you are immediately seated (no waiting in line) your given a menu with prices (no having to guess the prices). The free warm bread and olive oil spices were appreciated. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food seems the same except they service breakfast and dinner too! I got the shrimp/artichoke bruschetta with a huge, minced tomatoes salad in the center of the plate-delicious! Hubby got Reubin (told it was cooked on premise) but he said was little too fatty?! Nice save we learned about this new location. read more
So... a restaurant that is half Asia and half French and depending on what side you sit on changes the menu you order from? Sounds like a dream? No! The French Pantry is both or if you can't decide what side to sit on, sit at the bar and order from both menus! Everything looks good and I can't wait to visit again! What a great place! We had a reservation so we were seated right away. The place was packed our entire visit but food came out quickly. Bread and dip were delivered first. I had the ham and Swiss on 8 grain. It had arugula, tomato, onion and a vinaigrette. It was exactly what I was looking for! My husband had the Kobe burger and fries. He said it was great and cooked perfectly! Our server was attentive and kept our water glasses full. Very nice place. We will return! read more
Visited The French Pantry in Saint Augustine for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the experience! They gave us some bread while we waited for lunch and that was delicious. We split the mozzarella bruschetta, which was a highlight--fresh, creamy mozzarella paired with perfectly toasted bread and vibrant tomatoes and also the Bam Bam Shrimp Po' Boy, and it was a good choice. The shrimp were crispy and well-seasoned and it was a huge sandwich. The bread was fresh, though I wish it had been a crispier to get that crunch. Portion sizes again and were great for sharing, and the sandwich we ordered fries as well. For dessert, we grabbed a couple of their house-made cakes to go (couldn't resist after hearing they're known for their desserts!). We got them packaged up nicely and will enjoy them later--absolutely delicious and worth the hype. The Parisian café vibe of the place added a charming touch to the meal, and the service was on point. Overall, a great spot for gourmet sandwiches and treats in Saint Augustine. I'd definitely come back to try more of their menu. read more

Today I was driving back from Orlando and decided to stop here for lunch. I arrived around 11 a.m. and was quickly seated at a table near the window. The restaurant is bright and beautiful. There is also a parking lot behind the restaurant for free parking. The menu offers seven appetizers, thirteen sandwiches, seven salads, seven different bruschettas, and a few burgers. I asked my server for recommendations and she said the reuben was her favorite. I took her advice and was not disappointed. It was probably the best one I have ever had. I also added a side salad and it was very good as well. I stopped at the bakery counter on my way out and picked up a chocolate croissant and a chocolate twist for my husband. We like the atmosphere, this time we just got a sandwich since we weren't too hungry. Sandwiche came with delicious fries too :) You never went, go check this place out! read more
Went out with some friends to hopefully enjoy another meal. I didn't love it like the last 2x. Our waiter was good and friendly but inexperienced. I showed him a picture of the sandwich I ate last time and he didn't know. The turkey sandwich with goat cheese I ate was good but didn't fill the bun. The truffle fries were so thin and didn't really like. I wish they had a better beer selection. My wife loved her shrimp pasta. The place was very busy and I suggest you dress nice when you come.
