Was the food good? Yes. Was The Cut burger worth $40? Absolutely not. We would have rather gotten another appetizer to share for that price. Again, it was good - the potato bun was nice, and the aged cheddar on the burger added some good flavor as well. The shishito peppers appetizer was tasty. We also loved the fries. Would I come back here because "its my birthday", a "special occasion", "I need my friend to try this", or "I HAVE to have this flavor again"? Nooo way. We decided to try The Cut burger on the menu because we wanted to see if the price was worth it. It definitely was not. We also tried The OG burger, and it was good - we felt like The OG was much more worth the value and also very tasty. This was our first time here... but, in my opinion, if we come back, I would order the less expensive burgers and try more of the appetizers. The restaurant itself was small but had high ceilings, and the steating was very "open concept". We dined on a Sunday night, so it was fairly busy... the noise level was pretty distracting. We were able hear most of the conversations the occupied table(s) next to us were having, and often we would notice that the guests dining near or next to us would glance over at our table and other tables within close proximity. Most, if not, all of the tables were very close together. Wish this place had some permanent barriers to separate the tables in order to help it feel more private for guests, given that the space isn't very big, on top of having high ceilings. We may come back, but will maybe try to aim for a slower day of the week and also choose other items on the menu that may be more worth the price. read more

Came back to try the famous breakfast burritos. Had the cali and the bacon one. They were busy but it was worth the wait. Our server Melanie was attentive. The food was delicious. The burritos had tortillas that were super soft and yummy! The ingredients all blended well together and it is cool that they fry the tots in beef tallow. read more

I was craving a Smashburger and The Cut delivered. They offer Double Smashburger with a double patty, pickles, onions, and cheese during happy hour. FYI Fries are not included and you can get them on the side for eight dollars. The burger was delicious, however the fries are not worth $8. The onion rings were also eight dollars and those were pretty good. I ordered the Hard Arnold Palmer which was made with Vodka, House-made Orange Liqueur, Black Tea, Fresh Squeezed Lemon. Honestly, not a big burger person so I didn't have high expectations for The Cut but my husband was craving a burger so we decided to stop by for dinner. We got the wedge salad to share and I got the OG and my husband got the double smash burger. The wedge salad was light and refreshing, the perfect amount of dressing without overwhelming and my husband really liked the cherry tomatoes, everything tasted very fresh. My OG was delicious but unfortunately fell apart after a few bites (the grilled onions, while delicious, really weighed this thing down). We also shared a side of tater tots, so crispy! The smash burger definitely hit the spot for this burger craving too. The fast and friendly service was the cherry on top. Next time I'll try to save room for dessert. This is by far my favorite burger place and what I'd consider one of Irvine's gems. I've gotten takeout here a few times but finally decided to dine in with some friends for weekend brunch for a birthday celebration. The restaurant wasn't too busy and they had some nice outdoor seating options. As we got seated the server told us the menu has changed a bit and to my disappointment my favorite item, the Colombian burger, was cut from the menu. I was super bummed about it but the amazing server said she would talk to the chefs in the kitchen and see if they could make something similar. She came back and said that they had just enough items to recreate the burger one last time for me!! It absolutely made my day. Super thankful to the staff who were so accommodating and went above and beyond. I've never had such great service like that at any restaurant. Despite my favorite burger no longer being there, I'll continue to stop by and try the other ones and get my favorites like the tater tot poutine and try other burgers. read more

Don't believe the online hype- how this place was voted best hamburger in Orange County is beyond me. I had the OG burger and quite possibly one of the blandest hamburgers I've ever had. Ok. So the meal order didn't start out great. They have a $40 burger but I wanted it with lettuce wrap and they said no. (I can't eat the bread) The kitchen doesn't allow it. What? We ordered shishito peppers, wings and calamari. All were excellently prepared and delicious. I got the burger that had cheese and pork butt and my daughter OG. Both were apple sized patties and very messy (which we loved). Delicious!! I wanted to try their wedge and it was also very good but not traditional wedge. They cut it up into a very large salad. My friend invited me here as part of a Yelp event. When we arrived, my friend told the server about the event and he had us wait to the side while he seated a couple behind us who had just arrived. Not sure why they got priority seating. He then asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar or order take out. We wanted to dine in. Don't know why that was not an option. I ordered a chopped wedge salad with grilled chicken. I wish I ordered burger instead because the salad unfortunately was mediocre and the grilled chicken was a little sad. Maybe if they used romaine lettuce instead of iceberg, it would have been better. Or maybe if the salad was in a bowl instead of a plate, it would have looked more presentable. In any case, I was a little disappointed. And to make matters worse, the salad with grilled chicken was way more expensive than a burger and fries . The salad was $26 and my friend got the Savory burger which was $18. We came around lunch time and they seemed to be short staffed. No one came to ask us how our meal was or refill our drinks. I ordered sweet and spicy burger which didn't really taste that spicy imo. There's bacon inside which I personally would've enjoyed more if there wasn't bacon. It was an expensive burger though. The Cut is one of our favorite spots to visit. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. The ambiance is great, love the music. We went in on Saturday afternoon before the dinner rush. We were sat immediately and greeted by a friendly server. We ordered the Southern Bird Sandwich, Savory Burger, and double order of sweet potato fries (yes, they're that good!). I can't recall what the dipping sauces were but they never disappoint. We were regularly checked in on by another team member and their owner too, I believe. Everyone is really friendly here. There's been mixed reviews about this place.. I'm not sure how much clearing up this updated review will do but I'll definitely be back after this last visit. Perhaps the secret is coming at the right time? When the servers are chill and strive for taste! Got the sweet and sour burger with no bacon but avocado, impossible patty and an extra egg. $30 for a vegetarian brioche'd bun burger with runny yolk fried egg. Open faced, begging to be eaten and fries packed with a proper crunch, crisp and just the right amount of grease. The OG with impossible patty was also delicious! Quoting that of a wise eater, this is the burger in-n-out wish they made. The ratio was on point for all the cheese lovers out there. Fried burrata- for those who don't eat calamari, perfect appetizer teaser with a surprising bell-pepper sauce. It's like eating a fancier version of deconstructed mozzarella sticks. Came in for sunday lunch, we started with drinks, the "Purple Drank" and a beer flight. Both were good, and the drink selection was decent. However they don't have a full bar, only beer, wine, sake, and soju. As for the burgers, they were just okay--a little plain and lacking toppings. Most of them didn't come with basics like lettuce, tomatoes, or pickles, which felt a bit odd. Also, sides weren't included, not even fries, which made the meal feel a little overpriced for what we got. Our server knew the menu through and through, very helpful. This place is one of my all-time favorites out of Los Angeles/Irvine area. I come all the way from San Diego and every time I pass by on the 405 or the five I think about the cut. Not only is it the best handcrafted chicken sandwich I've ever had. They also have the best down to earth employees that make you feel absolutely at home Frank and Mel only added to the beautiful experience of eating at this restaurant. Everything was absolutely amazing and the fries were great too. If you're in the area, this is an absolute must go. You can't come to California without going to The Cut. We had no idea that Tuesdays were busy but they have a cool program (kids eat free Tuesday) that we learned about on our way in...we did not know that they only offer this for dine in only and, while we were dining literally right outside because they said it would be a 30 minute wait (despite multiple tables actually being available/available soon), they refused to honor this as being dine in, and what's worse is that they were incredibly rude about it.
