I really wanted to love this place after seeing all the hype online, and there were some bright spots! We tried the Grand Cut and Savory burgers. The first few bites were actually pretty promising. Rich, flavorful, and satisfying at first. But as we kept going, the heaviness started to build. The oiliness or fattiness leaking from the fondue made the Grand Cut feel a bit overwhelming. Finishing the burgers ended up being more of a task than something to look forward to. The Onion Rings were good. The Black Truffle Mac & Cheese, though, didn't quite hit the mark for me. Just a very subtle truffle flavor and a bit under-seasoned. Nothing stood out in a big way, and for the price point, I was hoping for something a little more memorable. That said, the service was genuinely great. The staff were super friendly, upbeat, and attentive. One thing to note: the space is pretty tight, and it can get loud. You'll likely hear full conversations from nearby tables, so it's not the most relaxed setting. It didn't quite live up to expectations for me, but I can see why others might enjoy it. I'd maybe come back to try something different.
Review for burrito + gravy Steak burrito $19 It's good, but not $19 good. I've had better for cheaper. I did eat it at home (10 min drive) and the tater tots practically became mashed potatoes inside as they lost their crunch. The amount of steak they had was generous and seasoned well. Not too much of anything so nothing seemed to overpower, but it also didn't make me go wow. I've prolly had a burrito once every 3 weeks while pregnant too lol Gravy Side of gravy costs $2 and it's fine. Nothing too crazy. Service Ordered at the back and it took 15-20 min for my order, but they were also pretty busy. Service was kind.
Insta Influencers Got Me! I'm glad I tried this place... it felt like my insta-feed wouldn't stop until I tried it... influencer after influencer claiming how great this place was... I finally gave in. Service - really solid... I observed some great treatment towards all the customers and that was fantastic. My service was nice. Refills when needed. Timely service. This is probably picky but they could have gone over the menu a little bit more with me, but I'm sure people also just like to be left alone too. Food - really great for a basic burger! Clearly fresh ground because it wasn't overly dense... soft brioche bun... great cheese! House sauce was solid! Sweet potato fries were excellent. Perfect crisp outside with soft warm inside. Nice atmosphere, comfortable interior... if you like personal space or need/want to have a private conversation it may not be the best spot...if you like eaves dropping then you'll love it! There were clearly some locals as the wait staff took the time to know people's names. I will for sure give them a try again to see if I can bump my review to a 5 for consistency... (4 is my max on a first try because I've been burned before giving a 5 then the next time the spot disappointed... don't want to steer people wrong) Many times the influencers don't live up to the hype... this time they were right... If you like quality and don't mind paying a little bit more for it... this may be your burger spot in Irvine!
Came here specifically for the breakfast burritos I keep seeing all over social media, and they lived up to the hype. Although they're currently only available during weekend brunch (10am-2pm), that just made it feel more like a treat. On top of that, the bottomless mimosas were a nice surprise bonus and really rounded out the experience. While they're priced a bit higher than your typical breakfast burrito, the Cali steak alone is good enough to keep me coming back to this local spot. The vibe here is one of the highlights. It's laidback and modern with a clean, slightly upscale feel, somewhere between a casual burger joint and a trendy brunch spot. We sat at the bar, which added to the relaxed, social atmosphere, but the service was a mixed bag. The bartender was very friendly, but despite only serving two couples, we didn't get much attention. It seemed he knew the other pair and focused most of his time there. As for the food, the portions are generous. My wife and I each ordered a burrito but ate only half to try to save room for dinner later. Even then, they were still quite filling. What really elevates these burritos above the usual are the crispy tater tots inside; they add texture and flavor in a way that turns a good breakfast burrito into a great one. These are hearty and satisfying the way they should be, but they are priced a bit higher than other breakfast burritos joints in OC. You're definitely paying a premium, but the quality and portion size help justify it. We didn't get a chance to try the burgers this time, but based on how good the breakfast burritos were, we'll definitely be back soon to explore more of the menu. Expectations will be high, but seems like The Cut can make the cut
Not used to eating gourmet burgers as we are typically an In n Out family but my son and I came here after watching plenty of food reviewers post videos. It's a solid 4 stars. My first bite was juicy and flavorful but I'm just not used to the meat being so fatty and drippy. I understand this is a different type of burger and I went in with that perspective but still prefer a normal burger. It was great nonetheless. We ordered the OG. As you can imagine it was standard OG burger with the standard fixens. Then we also got the Savory which was on the salty savory side with bacon relish and all. Would I go back? Yes. But not a regular spot as i fly that the burger was more unhealthy than a normal night out food in the go burger. The service was great and the restaurant is very well lit and atmosphere was very nice.
The $40 burger was worth it. But it's definitely a bucketlist item, one and done, don't need to do it again. It is genuine ground steak. Other places claim to have steak burgers, but this here is the real deal. High quality ribeye steak. No fillers. No blends. They want you to experience the purity of it, so it comes essentially plain but with cheese. And it's cooked a perfect medium rare. Delicious! The fries are great too. They have a nice selection of craft beers on tap including my favorite Harland Japanese Rice Lager. Nice ambience and great service.
Came for lunch and there was a chair debacle. We asked for a table for 5 they said sure and sat us at a table for 4. We asked for a chair and they said they would bring it. 5min passed and no chair so we grabbed a chair from an empty table. A waitress then came and asked me to switch chairs because they needed that exact chair from the table we took it from. We said yes, and she brought in an outside chair, which was pretty hot from sitting in the 85 degree heat. After, the table where we took the chair from didn't need the chair because they had a stroller. The waitress took that chair outside....i asked to switch chairs since that table didn't need it. They said they'll look for a chair for me. I ended up just switching the chairs myself again. The situation honestly isn't a huge deal and they apologized but the apology seemed disingenuous so left a bad start to the meal. Food Ordered fried chicken and gravy burrito 3/5. Good but dry. I wish it came with a side of gravy as well as i drowned the burrito in salsa and ketchup
Stopped in for dinner during restaurant week. Shout out to Melanie, our server. Super nice, and accommodating. Food was pretty good, tots and fries were crispy and tasty. We appreciated that the tots were not drowning in cheese - just the right amount. The Marrow & Raclette was our least favorite, though. Just felt greasy. Few beers on tap, the Harland Japanese with Yuzu was nice and refreshing.
All the food is delicious but the prices are a bit steep in my opinion. Their burgers and chicken sandwich was delicious but I wish it came with a side instead of being an additional charge for a side. Nothing too special about the calamari or wings but they were part of the happy hour menu which was nice.
My daughter and I came here for their happy hour menu. They have the cheeseburger for $7, but you can add veggies for 25 cents each and a sauce for a dollar extra. The poutine was half off, so $9 for a great portion. This was so delicious with fresh cut fries, braised brisket, smoked mozzarella, and chimichurri. I want to get it again and more frequently; it's that good. The onion rings were crispy and delicious, regular price at $10. We sat in the cozy patio this time. Service was very attentive and friendly. Water was always refilled. We didn't have to ask for much because he was so on top of it. Great experience, and I can't wait to come back and try something new!
Been coming here for YEARS but this was my first time dining in. I do have to say that from our experience I think this is more of a take out spot, or at least better suited for that. The food is good, but after our experience I would not recommend dining in. We came in on Tuesday night around 6:45pm and although busy, there were several open tables and we were immediately seated. We were ready to order quickly as we had already browsed the menu and knew what we wanted, and I always stick to the same order here because it's my favorite. We placed our drink and food orders and the wait for the drink was honestly unacceptable. We were more than halfway through our burgers when they finally brought the drinks out. We had asked about them when our server dropped off the food and it proceeded to take over ten more mins to get the drinks. We were about to walk over to find our waitress and just tell her to cancel the drinks at this point, but right as my boyfriend was about to get up the waitress walked over with our drinks. Took 25 minutes to get my purple drink and his Arnold Palmer. I'm not sure if our waitress was overwhelmed or a bit forgetful, she didn't even bring us our waters for over ten minutes. My boyfriend saw her walking to take a tables order then doing a u turn to grab our waters, it felt like she had forgotten then suddenly remembered while on her way to do something else. She asked if we wanted ice water and we said yes but she never brought ice water, instead she brought two glasses of room temp water and then several mins later brought us a carafe of room temp water. As far as my food, I did notice some changes that were disappointing. I always get the truffle and Brie burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries used to be thick and crispy on the outside and nice and gooey inside. Now the fries are extremely thin, maybe 3x thinner. They're no longer something I would order as they're so crispy and thin you don't get that nice gooey interior anymore. As far as the burger, my truffle burger always comes slathered in truffle sauce but this time there was just the smallest dollop of the sauce in the middle of the burger. I decided to wait for my server to come by so I could as for a side of the truffle aioli to fix my dry burger before I ate it. Took another several minutes before she came over to check on us. Not sure if this is how the burger and fries is meant to be served now, but the changes definitely lowered the overall taste and quality of my meal. Service was extremely disappointing. I'm being generous with 4 stars because I've been getting take out from here for over six years and have loved it. The experience we had when dining in would've been 2/5.
Rating: 7/10 Tried The Cut recently and thought it was solid overall, but nothing that really blew me away. We started with the buffalo chicken wings with ranch -- I'd give these a 7.5/10. The wings were cooked well and flavorful, but fairly standard and not especially memorable. Next was the double smash burger, which I'd rate a 7/10. The meat itself was very good and juicy, but the buns were a bit thick for my taste. It came with pickles, grilled onions, and Thousand Island sauce. Overall, solid execution, just not standout. We also ordered the OG burger (classic cheeseburger with tomato, lettuce, and onion). This one was pretty tasty and probably my favorite burger of the night -- 7.5/10. For sides, we had the beef tallow fries with garlic confit and parmesan, which were an 8/10. These were cooked well, crispy, and the beef tallow added a nice richness that set them apart. Service was good throughout, and everything came out in a timely manner. Overall, a decent spot -- good food, good service, just nothing especially memorable.
In a sea of burger places, the Cut shines bright. It was my first time so I had the lunch special (burger, side and drink). I chose the Savory Burger (bacon relish, Swiss cheese, aioli, and 3000 Island dressing). It was delicious and it paired perfect with some crispy tater tots. Great burger and nice service. Our go to place when we come to Irvine and in the mood for a good burger. It's in a shopping center. It's an airy place as it opens up to patio. We sat inside at comfortable bench and chair seating. It's not a big place but we never had to wait. Debated to having the double smash burger but decided on the OG burger, customize with no cheese, well done, raw onions add fresh jalepenos. I requested burger sauce on the side to avoid having a soggy burger. I selected onion rings as side for additional $6. It does not come with sides. My husband has the Truffle Brie with sweet potato fries. My burger came out perfect and delicious. Would recommend this place for casual dining. Our server was nice. Dinner with my buddy and we ordered the double smash and the OG burger. My buddy is a big guy and was going to order the "petite" salad and I wasn't going to let him embarrass himself so we split the beet salad. Great decision on all fronts. The burgers were very flavorful. I like the soft bun and my meat was cooked perfectly. The beet salad was delicious and compliments our burgers. Good service. Casual. Indoor and outdoor seating. I had been wanting to try this place out for awhile and finally made it out. The restaurant has a very contemporary, open and airy environment. I saw a lot of people get take out and sit in the outdoor area. Nice for small groups that have varying taste because one could order Chinese take out, one could get Korean and one can get burgers here! I ordered the Southern bird sandwich to-go with a side of onion rings so the picture is not the most flattering but it's because it was take out. However, the sandwich was excellent! There was a huge piece of fried chicken that was fried really well - crispy and juicy. The slaw and sauce was a good complement to the chicken. The onion rings were super tasty as well. Whole pieces of onion with the right amount of batter fried to a golden color and perfect crunch. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall. Staff was very friendly and the owner was chatting with the customers as well. They have happy hour specials during the week so I will be sure to come back! read more
I went to The Cut on a weekday for lunch, looking for a place to enjoy the sunny California weather and have good food. The Cut is a small restaurant in Westpark Plaza in Irvine with a cozy, inviting vibe. The restaurant features a patio and tall windows that are often left wide open, connecting the restaurant to the patio. Although reservations are possible, they are often not necessary. Especially during the week, it is relatively easy to snag a table either inside or outside without too much difficulty. However during the weekend, reservations are recommended. With only about three other parties in the restaurant, we were allowed to sit anywhere. The main focus of The Cut is the burger. All burgers are served with the same grass-fed beef patty on a potato bun, and all come without sides except for the 40 dollar dry-aged namesake burger. And with the exception of this specialty burger, all of them appear to be reasonably priced. The simplest burger is 14 dollars, while the most expensive is 22. However, I was annoyed to see that fries had to be ordered separately and were also eight dollars. And looking at pictures of the fries, the portion you get for eight dollars is really not that much. The burgers themselves have a lot of adventurous options. Of the nine burgers, all feature a different type of cheese, yet many are composed in a very similar way. There is a clear emphasis on balanced flavors. The burger that stood out the most to me was The Colombian: smoked mozzarella, cilantro chimichurri, and roasted bananas. I have never seen a burger like this before. Specifically, the choice of adding bananas to a burger threw me off, which is ultimately what made me decide to order it. For being one of the few parties in the restaurant, I was surprised to see how long it took to receive our food. It took about thirty minutes. Service in general was a little lackluster. Our water glasses were often empty with no carafe at the table, and it wasn't easy to get anyone's attention. Our server didn't check on us often. He was spending time out of sight in the back or talking to the bartender for a lot of our meal. When our food eventually did come, I found that the burger was smaller than I expected. At 16 dollars, this was not the worst portion, but I thought it could have been a little bigger. My first bite into the burger was extremely confusing to me. The mushy texture of the roasted banana threw me off quite a bit. Not only this, but I found the banana to be distractingly sweet. Bananas are already sweet, but roasting them brings out intensified sweetness and flavor by caramelizing the natural sugars. For me, this was really hard to look past. The cilantro chimichurri was completely overpowered and barely came through compared to the sweetness of the bananas. I understood the concept and the attempt to balance out these contrasting flavors, but it didn't really work for me. I also found that the burger was not hot. Given how long we waited, I assume the burger was given plenty of time to rest. But even so, it should at least be warm when served. The patty was fine. The waiter recommended the burger cooked medium, which was what I went with, and it came out medium. However, it was a pretty small patty, so it wasn't extremely juicy or flavorful. The bun was good. It maintained structure and texture well while also being perfectly crispy on the edges and fluffy on the inside. Overall, the burger wasn't terrible, but a few things really put me off and made for a mediocre experience. The burger not being hot was a problem for me, and the bananas resulted in a bizarre texture and an overwhelming sweetness that was hard to look past. With the service not being great and the burger being underwhelming, I struggle to recommend The Cut. I acknowledge that the restaurant was definitely understaffed, but it really felt more like our server was bored and not tending to us rather than having a lack of help. The restaurant is clean and is a nice place to enjoy the sun, but all other aspects of my experience left a lot to be desired. read more

We came here for dinner tonight. There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant at around 6:00'ish. My husband ordered the Savory burger with a side of tots. He ordered his burger medium but it came more rare than medium. I would never eat a burger that is that rare, but he said it's okay, he didn't mind. He actually liked the burger, so that was good. I wanted to go there because I saw fried chicken and waffle on the menu. Unfortunately, we found out that's only served for brunch only. So I ordered the southern fried chicken on lettuce wrap instead of potato bread. The chicken was good and not too dry but the batter was so hard (no, not crispy, hard!) I ended up cutting and trimming the batter from my fried chicken and ate the inside meat only. We had Lisa as our server and she was good and attentive. read more

I've been here probably 4 times now? And it never disappoints so I was super excited to hear they were doing a $5 burger promo. My friends and I stopped by and it was pretty packed but we were still got our food quickly. Service was great - everyone was super nice and friendly. We all got the grand cut burger after hearing about the bacon jam being cooked for hours and it did not disappoint. My friends and I have stopped by for bottomless mimosas before and also left very satisfied. We saw that they have a great happy hour deal and definitely plan on stopping by for that. read more

Came to this place 2x. The first one I ordered their burger with the pork belly (I think called the cut burger) and poutine. Both are amazing and I don't have much complaints. But the 2nd time, I ordered their Philly cheese steak, and it came quiet dry and doesn't have a lot of flavor. My friends ordered their cheeseburger and blue burger and both also came out dry and a bit bland, leading me to believe the quality of their food is inconsistent. I'm a bit hesitant to go back here since their burger is not cheap and I feel bad recommending a place to my friend where they might be disappointed. Servers and place are both ok, but dining is not just about the experience but also about the taste and quality of the food, so I don't think I'll be back. read more
I've had this restaurant on my list for a while and finally decided to try it after craving a burger. I came here late Friday night and was seated immediately. At first I thought this was a fast food type of restaurant, but it's actually full service with a bar. The interior was a nice vibe and very clean. My partner and I ordered poutine, tater tots, and the truffle and brie burger to share. The staff were very kind and even cut our burger in half for us. Everything was delicious. We the burger medium rare and it was juicy. I will say that the truffle taste was very subtle, though. It was a pretty heavy burger so I'm glad that my partner and I shared one. The poutine was good and definitely could be a meal on its own. The tater tots were just tater tots, but no complaints because that's what I wanted. They were crispy and not soggy/soft. Overall, I came here looking for a good burger and I got a good burger. Would definitely come back again and try more of their menu. read more
I had a wonderful time visiting the cut. I went with a few friends on a Saturday night. There was no wait to sit. My table and I were immediately given menus. We ordered a few burgers and they were fairly unique. Ultimately, we got the Cut. True to the fine print on the menu, they were unable to accommodate any changes or modifications to our burger. While it wasn't my favorite burger of the night, it's definitely worth trying. Restroom is clean. There is plenty of parking outside. The staff is very nice. read more

Already gave The Cut an amazing review a few years ago but this place doesn't miss. Truly one of the few consistent 5/5 experiences in my opinion. Staff is friendly and attentive, the food is ridiculously good, and the restaurant is always clean and organized. Brought my niece from out of town and she absolutely loved it. We chose The Cut from a recommendation we found on Tick Tock. We arrived just in time for Friday happy hour. Grassfed burgers for $7, adding the extras for a $8.00 burger is unbelievable. 10 out of 10 for sure. We ordered all the shareable since they were all half off. Buffalo wings, Calamari, Poutine, Mozzarella, Onion Rings, Fries, and a chicken tenders with totts kids meal. We received the BEST service from Roman and all the team. This place knows how to create tasty meals. Started with the beet salad, lots of fresh herbs and beets. Also had the fried mozzarella and it was a huge portion for the price. Lots of flavor. The fried basil was a nice touch. The Cut burger was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The Classy burger was a hit. Balsamic glaze and caramelized onions were yum. Ended with the date sticky pudding - out of this world flavor and warm butter cake. A great meal and would highly recommend. Server was so friendly and restaurant was clean and neat. Delicious burgers, fries, and condiments! This burger joint first started as a food truck, and just 3 years later, opened up this first location in Irvine. They've gotten nominations, won an OC Register award, and now over 10 years later, are still rock'n it! Also serving beer, wine, Poutine, coconut shrimp, wings, bone marrow toast, and a new weekend brunch menu. They even have a grilled hanger steak, which I can't wait to try! Lots of sides too from regular fries, sweet potato fries, a petite salad, tots, and truffle Mac & Cheese. Today I needed another Savory Burger! That is actually what it's called, and it's sooooo fitting! This one comes with Swiss Cheese, 3,000 Island sauce, and bacon relish, which is the best condiment I've ever had! If you haven't tried it, you gotta! You can order online, but you can't make any changes, so we called our order in since my co-workers and I are a little particular. They open at 11am during the week, and 10am on the weekends. Looking forward to checking out that brunch plate Tres Leches French Toast! My mouth is watering already! read more

This handcrafted burger spot is top notch! The buns were perfectly toasted with that slight crisp on the outside while staying soft inside, and the patty was incredibly juicy--flavorful with every bite. I loved how the juices just came through without making the burger soggy. The aioli sauce tied everything together beautifully, adding just the right touch of creaminess and flavor. You can tell they put real care into the details here. Easily one of the best burgers I've had in a long time--highly recommend! read more

Ok...this one is rough. My first experience with the Cut was in 2020. It was amazing. Simple, yet flavorful. Over the years I'd go back and it was alway amazing, until...last year and this year, I've notice a shift in flavor. The burgers are still good don't get me wrong but, it's not what I'm use to be. I find a lack in flavor in the burgers and fries. Everything tastes fresh but lackluster at best. read more

Yummm! The burger was delicious. I ordered the Classy, medium. It came with grilled onions and cheese. I only wish I would've asked for pickles to add a must needed cool crunch. My wife ordered the Nashvilles sandwich and it was perfect. The seasoning was on point just a little heavy on the cayenne so if you like spicy food it's perfect for you. She order the Purple Drank, which comes with glitter. I found it refreshing. I had ordered from their rotating tab. A stout, which was way too strong for day time, 16.5% alcohol. Today was sunny so being able to eat indoors with the AC blasting was perfection. Ohh note the petite salad was an additional surcharge and it had fresh ingredients. The Cut is serving up some of the most gourmet burgers in Irvine and beyond! This spot is located in the same plaza as Hmart and Sprouts and there is a good amount of parking spots. Reservations are recommended but you can also take your chances with walking in as well. Wifey and I stopped by for dinner around 7pm and there was about a 10 minute wait. Inside, they have a nice modern interior with about 7-8 tables for seating. For their menu, they have a great selection of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. We opted to try the Truffle and Brie Burger, The Cut Burger, Poutine, and a Lavender Lemonade. Everything that we had was delicious and we could definitely taste the quality of the elevated flavors. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time dining here. All of the staff are very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order here but I would highly recommend trying one of their burgers. There is a reason why this spot has over 1,000+ positive reviews! read more

Beyond Burger patty can be substituted for any of the burger options. And it's really good. I was surprised by how well seasoned the patty is.
What is the average wait time for brunch on Saturday around noon?
I’m we went first thing in the morning after right after it opened and we got our food fairly quickly. As we were leaving, a good amount of people started trickling in
Is the "Grand Cut" burger back yet?
We have The Grand Cut burger. It's "THE CUT" Burger (60 day dry aged ribeye) that we don't have at the moment. We are hoping to bring it back when supply chain isn't so heavily affected by covid and labor struggles. Thank you.
Is there any way to sub out the bun for lettuce wrap for keto diets?
Yes! They did it for my burger and it was DELICIOUS!
Is the Nashville chicken certified organic, antibiotic and hormone free?? Are the meats grass fed?
natural is NOT non gmo, or grassfed and finished.
Is there garlic or onion in the beef seasoning? What is beef seasoned with?
I wish I knew the ingredients all I can tell you is that it is so great. Try it.
Gluten free buns?
No gluten free buns :( they can make their burgers "protein style" by adding a hearty side salad
