I can cross another place off my list of places to eat. I'd been meaning to give this place a try for some time, now, and, today was that time. I ordered the Western Bacon Cheezburger Combo, with Onion Rings as my side, and, a Raspberry Iced Tea as my drink. The place was busy-ish, with people eating their food. It's outdoor seating, only, which presents its own challenges when there's a wind blowing. But, I digress. Aside from maybe a couple people conversing, and, the music playing, not to mention skaters from the neighboring skate park rolling up, and/or out, it's relatively quiet. Just as an aside: That wasn't a complaint. In fact, it's primo Real Estate being next door to a Skate Park, as far as I'm concerned. My food was ready in about 12 minutes or so, which was nice. My burger was bigger than the last couple of burgers I've eaten fairly recently , which was great. Definitely tastier than the last couple of burgers I've had. I'll have to eat here a couple more times to truly give it a final verdict, but, I was pleased with my burger. I have yet to give a mention of my onion rings, so, here goes: This is how Onion Rings should be done! Golden Brown, and, not Orange. Tasty, for sure! I got the bacon cheeseburger with tots. My guest had a double smash burger with fries order was out to us pretty quickly. They have a nice little covered outdoor patio to dine under plenty of different menu options plenty of table space for guest. Outside patio was kept clean and tables were wiped a few times while we were there. That's a great sign. We both loved what we had definitely fresh love the buns. We stopped by Bunz Burger while in town and were so happy we did. The burgers were fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. I had the Western Burger, and the crispy onion ring and barbecue sauce were a great combination. We also tried the spicy burgers which had a nice kick from the spicy mayo and pickled jalapeños. The fries were perfectly crisp, portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Service was excellent. Quick and friendly counter service burger spot hidden next to the skate park. I was honestly a big fan of the double smash burger more than the cheeseburger but both were impressive. The smash burger had a crispy meat rim that was a tad salty but enjoyable. The simplicity of grilled onions and cheese was also delicious. The cheeseburger had a lot more going on with the standard pairings but still worked out good. The tallow fries had a nice crispy outside, fluffy inside, with beef fat flavor. Met up with friends here that was in the area. This place is located in the same spot as Vans Skate Park. Plenty of parking and you can also park on the other side of the fence. I had the cheeseburger combo instead of fries I had it with onion rings. It was good, it was pretty much what I expected. Price was about $14.00 for my combo. Talk about a skaters paradise! Bunz is lodged between the Van's store and the Van's Skate Park. This is as highly rated a burger joint as you will find. It deserves that lofty assessment! Went here with a group of friends to try it out since it has pretty good reviews. The burgers are a decent size but I was surprised to find that it didn't really have much flavor and was kind of dry. I felt that it mainly tasted like cooked beef, with a little bit of the individual flavorings of all the other things (like raw onion, jalapeño, bacon, etc). To be honest it was kind of disappointing. I think that what was really missing was some additional sauce, as the taste felt very bland and again, it felt dry to eat. The fries were very good though, I'll give them that! I wish they gave you more fries because the portion seems kind of limited. My friend got the smash burgers and also didn't feel it was worth the hype. Maybe they made all our batches wrong or were having a bad day. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I absolutely would, no hesitation. We used to come here years ago, then life happened and we moved away. Even after moving back, we somehow didn't make it over... until a random doctor's appointment fixed that little mistake. And wow, what were we doing all this time? I had the single smash, my partner-in-crime went for the bacon cheeseburger, and both showed up looking like they belonged in a photoshoot. Yes, we admired them for a second before devouring, no shame. And the tots? Crispy, airy, basically perfect. I don't throw around "favorite ever" lightly, but here we are. I was shopping at Costco (right across from The burger place ) and was craving a burger , little did I know there was a place right across, so I decided to check it out. It's a small burger joint, which is actually very nice , calm and peaceful.The lady who makes the burger , also happens to be the one who takes the order( at the least today, when I went). She was very nice and kind. I was indecisive and she helped me get this bacon burger. It was very tasty, almost like if it was a homemade burger! It definitely had a lot of bacon (most places barely even put anything ) and the tater tots were very delicious. I have been coming here for years and bunz is hands down one of the best burger stands in Orange County. The burgers are delicious and the fries are crispy and perfectly salted. Aside from fries, they offer tater tots (my personal favorite) or onion rings with your burger. I also highly recommend the chili cheese dog. The hot dog is massive and they are extremely generous with the chili and shredded cheddar cheese. Lastly, I have to give much credit to Gigi. My fries and tots are always perfectly seasoned and super crispy. The burgers are fresh and not too greasy. It has a nice black pepper flavor to it that I really enjoy and the toppings enhance its flavors just right. The place has free parking and outdoor seating with heaters. It's a casual walk-up with al fresco covered patio dining with a coded restroom on the right, & plenty of parking, though it may get crowded by skaters. I came after lunch rush so there was plenty of parking & only 1/4 of the tables were full. In addition to my freebie, I added some sides: Chicken Tenders, Fryz, & Onion Rings to share with my 6 YO on this foodie haunt. I'm guessing the red highlighted items are their best sellers? My order was executed quick... everything was hot, hot, hot, & it smelled wonderful!! On a regular bun, the burger was stacked pretty tall... it was a messy, sweet & savory burger... yum!! The patty was nicely seasoned with thick & crisp bacon, crunchy onion rings, oozy cheese, tangy BBQ sauce & thousand island dressing (doesn't need both; think it might taste better with just the BBQ sauce). I know other diners call Bunz's burgers a smash burger, it's not... at least mine wasn't. A smash burger is pressed thin so the patty has a caramelized crust sealing in loads of flavor from the sear; as you can see in my pic & video, the patty is pretty thick. The bun managed to hold the filling until the very last bite, but it was messy from the dripping cheese & wet condiments. The chicken tenders were larger than the commercial fast food restaurants, & we both thought Bunz's tasted better because it's fried by beef tallow? They had a well-seasoned crust, & the meat was tender & juicy. 2 tenders was the equivalent of a kid's meal 5 pc. nuggets so M couldn't finish his order. He usually dips tenders in ketchup so I skipped the ranch & bbq dressing, but went back to ask for ranch so I can finish the last 2 tenders. There was a generous serving of fries vs. moderate amount of onion rings (7). I can taste why the onion rings are a standout! They were fried to a pretty golden brown, rich with flavor from tallow, the onion rings had a satisfying crunch with a tender, sweet onion center. Crunch, crunch... nom, nom, nom! That's not to say the fries were a wimp. The fries were perfectly seasoned & fried golden with crispy crust & fluffy, mashed potato-like insides. Soooooo tasty! Their compact menu consists of breakfast sandwiches, salads, burgers, hot dogs, sides with drinks & shakes; moderate price points & moderate serving size. Service was more efficient than friendly; a line had formed behind us. It's interesting that Bunz Burger cooks with beef tallow instead of seed oils & uses in-house ghee for cleaner cooking. Why? Beef tallow has richer flavor, higher smoke point, & crispier texture than seed oils. Tallow doesn't oxidize as easily in high-heat cooking whereas seed oils may have inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids that may produce toxic compounds. A downside is the beef tallow makes it unsuitable for vegetarians to enjoy these yummylicious fried sides. It's one of the better burger joints that could nudge off In & Out Burger as SoCal's best. Maybe lower price points & more availability? Not in the area much, but would make a stop again for their outstanding burger & sides! Recommended: Western Bacon Cheez Burger, 4 Pc. I'd been craving a smash burger for months and found this little spot on my commute home from school. It's in the same lot as the Vans store and skate park. I ordered a regular smash burger and a fried chicken slider -- took about 12-15 minutes (because of the chicken), but totally worth it. The burger was super flavorful; the meat was well-seasoned and reminded me of breakfast sausage. Caramelized onions added sweetness, while the cheese and sauce gave it a nice salty tang.
