Coming here is almost a requirement when we are in the area. We love the staples- Italian beef sandwich and Chicago dogs. This time we tried the new Dr.Pepper chocolate cake shake- this for me was a miss, but I am not a huge fan of Dr.Pepper. I do LOVE the chocolate cake shake! The dogs are always good love all the toppings. The new self order kiosks are nice but I do miss interacting with the cashiers. Inside has been remodeled a little bit to make room for the new soda machines. They have a merch wall now which is nice. Inside was clean and there was plenty of seating outside. Would definitely come back here again.

After our Ensenada cruise, from Longbeach terminal, my daughter took us here on the way home so that we can taste their hotdog and cheesesteak sandwiches. Ive been missing polish sausage so I definitely ordered this one We got fries with it of course. Yum yum burp burp!!!! Definitely hits the spot. We got 2 hotdogs and 2 cheese steak sandwiches 2 fries and a lemon cake for $70... Not bad. It's really worth the money because it doesn't taste like an actual fast food. I tasted their cheeseteaks and hotdogs and both were good. The posi The service is fast. The whole place is clean and I love that it's spacious. You won't feel overcramped. Parking is okay. Lots of parking space. I highly recommend it.

Regular hot dog with mayo ketchup and mustard looks soggy but it was delicious

I have been to Chicago and never went to Portillo's thinking it was a touristy place. Since my wife has been traveling to Chicago for work she has raved about this place and their beef dip sandwich . So I had to go to the only spot in So Cal to check it out. OMG why have I never tried Portillo's!!! The Italian Beef Sandwich with mozzarella and their sweet and hot peppers. I even got a side of cheese sauce. Seriously one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The beef is juicy and lean but with so much flavor and the peppers give it a great kick. I even got a Chicago dog too. That wasn't bad but the Beef sandwich was amazing!!!

I love this place. It's great. I was driving back from some work stuff and for some reason, there was a freeway closure so I had to take the 91 instead. As I approached the five, I thought about it for a moment and realized I could get a Chicago hot dog. When would be the next time I would be here? I didn't know or have any idea. So I came and got lots of hot dogs! I love just how the flavor of all the ingredients, from the tomato to the pickle to the chilis, chopped onions, green relish and the amazingly tasty hot dog and bun all come together. It's one of the best combinations ever for a hot dog and if I could eat them every day, I probably would. But I like living, so I don't think I can do that. The service here is nice. You have your choice of going to the register or kiosk. You also get a huge dining area with a fun ambiance as well. If you've never been to portillos for a hot dog, you have to go!

The interior decor reminded me of Route 66. The service here was really fast. When I got the hot dog (with everything on it), it was really good but it has peppers on it. It has a kick to it. The vanilla shake was the only thing that didn't make me panic in public.

This is my favorite place to get a chili dog , freshly made chili is the best in my book. Along with French fries with some dipping sauce. Don't forget the chocolate cake for dessert! It is the best thing to eat, very moist and chocolatey, yummy!

I ordered a burger for my son and we received this lettuce ... terrible ! It was brown and old. The employee who put the burger together obviously didn't take pride in their job and/or just didn't care about food quality. We should have stuck with the hot dogs.

I really enjoy the consistency and quality of the food. I just wanted to make a shout out to Logan and Marino. These two are a definite asset to the company.

Ordered to go so I can't really speak on the service. Fun family atmosphere. Lots of tables and you can see into the kitchen. I got the Italian beef sandwich and the hot dog. I could hardly wait for the Italian beef so I ate most of it walking to the car. The bread was soft and soaked up a lot of the juice from the meat. There was a large amount of beef. Flavorful and just delicious. The hotdog I ate the next morning so I can't give an honest review of how it is when it's fresh but when I heated it up, it had a great snap and was delicious. I'll be back if I ever see another Portilllo's.

Love Portillo's! I absolutely love the cheese! Get the French fries with cheese sauce. It's such a great combination. They make the fries crunchy and salt them perfectly. One thing I noticed, is that they always have top notch customer service at Portillo's. They make sure you have your order correct, and provide condiments and napkins. Ambiance is usually just, but worth the wait. The food is consistently good.

Dipped Italian Beef with Sweet Peppers and Giardiniera Peppers

I've been wanting to visit Portillo's for a while, but we're always busy when we're in Anaheim. Finally, I got the chance to check it out! As a chain from Illinois, this is one of only two California locations, and it's in Buena Park. The place was packed early, even shortly after opening. You can order at a kiosk or in line. Be sure to keep your receipt; they call out your number when it's ready. The Italian Beef with hot Giardiniera and sweet peppers is pretty good. I recommend getting the dip on the side; it gets soggy quickly, especially if you take it to go. I ordered food for the whole family, but they didn't care for it, so that means more for me! Haha. I even ate the leftovers the next day, and heating them up on the stovetop was just as good, if not better. I heated the broth on the side and drizzled it over the sandwich, and also used it for dipping. I tried the Chicago Dog after having the Italian beef, and I thought it was the best. It was the perfect bite - the spice of the peppers, sweetness of the onions and relish, and the great snap of the dog really hit the spot. I even ate it when the bun was soggy, and I still loved it! This fast food is as good as it gets! As with any fast-food place, mistakes can happen with orders. I checked my order upon receiving it and everything seemed correct, but I mistakenly didn't check for the sauces. I saw ketchup in containers, so I went to the counter to ask for packets. However, I forgot to check for the two sauces I ordered with my son's chicken tenders, and they were missing. We didn't realize it until we left, unfortunately. The onion rings were pretty good, and I would order them again, but the crinkle-cut fries were a bit soggy, so I wouldn't order them again. They offer Coke products with free refills if you dine in. I love Portillo's logo, with the weiner dog in a bun with white and red stripes - it's a very iconic design. I definitely will come back to Portillo's; it's my go-to spot for a Chicago Dog. However, since we don't live nearby, I won't be able to visit as often as I'd like. The restaurant is spacious, and I love the Chicago-style decor - it makes you feel right at home. I would definitely order the Italian beef again with the dip on the side, and I'd also get two Chicago dogs.

Posted meal offers that they don't honor.

Unfortunately, they falsely advertise the price of their items. I ordered off their famous 5 menu and they let me know that I will not be charged for the posted price and everything will be charged individually so it will be more. These options are posted multiple times in the drive through line.

Ask the Community - Portillo's Buena Park

    Do they except EBT?

Good question. I googled and it says yes. They are a part of the restaurant meals program.

Do they have dollar hot dog days?

    Hell no. I wish.

Is it possible to place an order verbally instead of using a kiosk at this establishment?

Yes, there is STILL a counter for traditional ordering.

Do they still have outdoor seating ? And are dogs allowed outdoors?

They do have a large patio and last time we went I also was able to take my pooch in the patio area to eat with us.

Do they have gluten free buns?

I don't think the bun is... but you can ask for gluten free options. Double check tho, I'm not 100% certain.

Do they have the Field Roast vegan dog like the Chicago locations yet?

They had a plant based garden dog when I was there on Sunday May 29th.

Are the beef hot dogs kosher?

I doubt it. They don't keep kosher. They mix dairy and meat. If you're looking for a Kosher dog for the flavor, these dogs taste good even if they're not Kosher. But if you're trying to keep kosher or want kosher style, look elsewhere.…

When will you be opening the dining room again? I'm not into eating in my car.?

It's already open for dinning inside.

Are the hot dogs all beef?

I believe they are all beef. I don't like hot dogs that are made with pork and can tell the difference in taste when they have pork in them. I really love these, so my guess is all beef. You can call the location and ask. I'm sure they would be able…

Do you guys show all Cubs games?

I don't really see TVs inside (I would double check but i wouldn't drive 1 hour and 40 minutes just to check) but there is music.

How much is the chocolate cake shake?

    Small 3.99, large 4.99

    Do they allow dogs (pets)?

As a general rule of thumb, most food establishments do not allow pets due to health concerns. However, this location does have a large outdoor patio accessible from the front entrance which may be suitable for animals. I personally have never…

When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, and we began placing our order. The older gentleman who appeared to be the owner or manager seemed visibly irritated as we requested a few simple modifications to our corn dogs. Rather than responding professionally, he sighed, appeared frustrated, and made us feel as though our order was an inconvenience. It immediately made us feel uncomfortable. We requested our order to be packaged to go, but after picking it up, we decided we would like to sit inside the restaurant to eat since there were no other customers. While the gentleman was in the middle of assisting another customer, he stopped what he was doing to come over and tell us that we could not sit inside and instructed us to leave. We had just purchased food from the establishment, and being told to leave instead of being allowed to enjoy the meal we had just paid for was both surprising and disrespectful. I understand that individual franchise owners may have certain policies, but regardless of ownership, they are representing your brand. Customer service should always reflect the values of the company, and this interaction fell far below what I would expect as a paying customer. After leaving, I looked at the location's Yelp reviews and was disappointed to see that our experience was not an isolated incident. Multiple customers described similar interactions with what appears to be the same gentleman, mentioning rude behavior, being spoken to harshly, feeling unwelcome, or being treated impatiently. Seeing a consistent pattern of complaints makes this seem like an ongoing issue rather than a misunderstanding. I'm not writing simply because of one unpleasant interaction. I'm writing because I believe no customer should be made to feel unwelcome after choosing to support your business. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that the customer experience at this location is reviewed. A welcoming and respectful environment is just as important as the quality of the food. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I hope appropriate steps are taken so that future customers have a much better experience than we did.

The Korean corn dogs are the real star here. Crispy on the outside with that signature crunchy coating, and soft, cheesy goodness on the inside--every bite is insanely satisfying. Whether you go for the classic sausage, the half mozzarella combo, or one of the loaded options rolled in toppings like potatoes or crunchy crumbs, you really can't go wrong. The texture alone is next level. What makes these Korean-style hotdogs stand out is the variety and creativity. They're not just your average corn dogs--they're coated in panko or unique toppings and often filled with gooey cheese, which gives them that iconic stretch and flavor people love . The sauces take everything up another notch. Sweet, spicy, tangy--mix and match to your taste and you've got a flavor combo that hits every time. Pair it with a side like tteokbokki or fries, and it turns into the perfect comfort meal. Overall, this spot nails it with flavor, texture, and creativity. If you've never had a Korean corn dog before, this is the place to try it--and if you have, you already know why it's worth coming back again and again. Definitely a 5-star experience!
