A family favorite for over 3 decades. It has changed over the years, with added options and shawarma plates. The family Zankou chicken marinated in simple salt and pepper will always be my choice. Unfortunately for me, other beef and chicken shawarma options are out for me due to pre-marinated spices. The original chicken is tender, juicy and simply delicious. Pair that with the fresh and warm pita bread, a side of tzatziki dip, hummus, and garlic sauce and im good to go. 4/5 Housekeeping issues: out table was janky, unstable and the chairs worn out. This review is long overdue, I heart Zankou Chicken and this location is the nearest to me. Parking is shared since it's located in a strip center. I usually order the 2-combo kabob plate of lule and shish kabob which they're made to order, so it's about fifteen-minute turnaround. All the sides are fresh tasting and yummy. The interior is casual and there's a self-service beverage machine. The staff is friendly and they'll call you by name when your entrees are ready. How can a restaurant be out of its signature menu items? If you're known for chicken and kabobs, those should be the last things unavailable. No notice was posted, and it felt like a wasted trip. The staff was polite, but that doesn't make up for the lack of inventory on the restaurant's core offerings. Customers visit Zankou for the items that built the brand. Being out of both major menu items at the same time is unacceptable and reflects poor planning and management. I'm sad about the food here. I was craving middle eastern food so we ordered quite a selection of food. Whole grilled chicken was dry. Chicken with rice was good. Beef shawarma plate was ok. The flavors were not authentic. The bread was stale. The garlic sauce and hummus was delicious. Baklava was delicious and tasted authentic. Just got food here for my family and the workers all seem to be either cleaning cooking or at the register. They all look very hard working. Definitely my go to spot. Online ordering - Simple to do and allows you to select sides and sauces as needed. We selected the immediate pick up option and our food was ready to go in about 15 minutes. Price - More of a $$ price range for a fast casual place. I ordered the chicken kabob plate with 2 kabobs and was able to turn it into 2 meals. I really enjoyed the tzatziki sauce and the garlic sauce. The plate comes with 2 full pieces of pita. I would order this again. So why did I give it 3 stars? The cucumber salad is a pretty small portion. I would have been happier without the roasted tomato on the side and had more cucumber salad. When you see how generous they are with the tzatziki, you'll understand my disappointment with the salad. We also ordered the hummus and pita chips and unfortunately discovered the pita chips were not in the bag until we got home. I called this location and was put on hold for 6 minutes and explained to the employee I was missing part of my order. She asked for my order number and said she couldn't find it. Then I spoke with who I assume was a supervisor (she didn't introduce herself). I had to re-explain what happened and she apologized and said my boyfriend's name would be on a list for credit. Apparently the next time we go there, they will look up our name in a binder and give us a large hummus with 2 bags of pita chips as an apology. So I guess we will find out if his name makes the binder and if we actually get what we were promised. I'll share an update if we end up going back. read more
