Big Family Meal with chicken, and sides.
Feskeli G.

A family favorite for over 3 decades. It has changed over the years, with added options and shawarma plates. The family Zankou chicken marinated in simple salt and pepper will always be my choice. Unfortunately for me, other beef and chicken shawarma options are out for me due to pre-marinated spices. The original chicken is tender, juicy and simply delicious. Pair that with the fresh and warm pita bread, a side of tzatziki dip, hummus, and garlic sauce and im good to go. 4/5 Housekeeping issues: out table was janky, unstable and the chairs worn out. While it looks clean, our tables needed a wipe down. I feel like if they updated the basic furniture it would be better. Personal choice.

Combo Kabob Plate

This review is long overdue, I heart Zankou Chicken and this location is the nearest to me. Parking is shared since it's located in a strip center. I usually order the 2-combo kabob plate of lule and shish kabob which they're made to order, so it's about fifteen-minute turnaround. All the sides are fresh tasting and yummy. The interior is casual and there's a self-service beverage machine. The staff is friendly and they'll call you by name when your entrees are ready. Overall, Zankou Chicken has a quality product with solid service so I'm a fan for life.

Tri tip wrap

Came in on Wednesday place was extremely busy. The place look very old but was clean. First time there the guy in the black Zankou shirt noticed and recommended the chicken and tri tip. I went with the tri tip wrap/plate with a side of yakitzu sauce and the garlic spread was amazing! Food was 10/10 better than cava and made to order

I'm sad about the food here. I was craving middle eastern food so we ordered quite a selection of food. Whole grilled chicken was dry. Chicken with rice was good. Beef shawarma plate was ok. The flavors were not authentic. The bread was stale. The garlic sauce and hummus was delicious. Baklava was delicious and tasted authentic. We came here many years ago and the chicken then too was over cooked and really dry. Lots of tables available to dine in. We grabbed food to go and it was prepared fairly quick. Service was good.

Love this place food is always so good. Staff is nice, place has allot of seating but it fills up fast. Got a half chicken this time, the skin is crunchy and delicious. Also got a combo plate and it was awesome as well. Garlic sauce makes everything amazing!! Will be coming back soon!

This place is a little gem! The service is friendly and fast. There's plenty seating available and it's clean. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with different little dessert shops. We ordered the fattoush salad with tri-tip Shawarma and the chicken kebab plate. Both were very delicious and flavorful. Can't wait to come back and try different plates!

So I got the chicken kabob plate with an extra garlic sauce. It comes with two pita, basmati rice, cucumber salad, seasoned sliced onions & hummus. Delicious! Bring your appetite!

This place is packed! The staff is very nice and helpful with answering questions. They also do a good job at upkeeping the tables. I ordered the lule kabob. Lule Kabob- This comes with hummus, basmati rice, cucumber salad, garlic sauce, and pita bread. The beef is juicy and flavorful. The hummus is fresh and perfectly seasoned. The pita bread is soft and warm. The cucumber salad and garlic sauce go well with everything and add a depth of flavor and texture. Quite a filling meal! Great experience overall. Would love to come back and try the rest of their menu.

Beef Shawarma

My family always orders the rotisserie chicken to go and eat it with rice and soy sauce at home. The garlic spread is their trademark. It tastes so good on everything - rice, pita, chicken, even on the vegetables. The hummus and the yogurt spread that comes with the chicken tarna plate are yummy too. The chicken tarna is seasoned well. Once in a while we will order the beef shawarma. The beef is tender. Great customer service although you have to wait a little for your food. But then again, everything is made fresh to order. Good amount of seats for dining in and the atmosphere is casual. Everytime I visit the area, I always come here to eat.

Zankou is a fam favorite at our house! It's easy, healthy, and the kids love it! The service is always quick and friendly, their prices reasonable, and their eating area is consistently clean. 10/10 - We'll be back, and you should as well! :)

Bowl with protein - tabouli, hummus, are the two sides and falafel is the protein on bed of rice
Nancy O.

The food here is always delicious!!!! It's one of our family favorites !!! Recently they have added to their menu. I love their falafel plate, sandwich and today I tried their new bowl with falafel as the protein! My husband's favorite is the tri-tip shawarma. The service is friendly and quick ! The restaurant itself is small but they put out a lot of food !! You order at the counter and then they call either your number or name . It definitely works for this location !

It's only about 7 minutes from the parks, making it the perfect lunch or dinner spot if you're craving something flavorful that won't leave you feeling heavy. Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The spinach pastry was hands down my favorite, perfectly flaky with a delicious savory filling. The potato pastry was a close second and just as satisfying. If you visit, don't skip the pastries! We also tried the steak and chicken kebab combo plate, and both were cooked perfectly. The chicken was especially tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. You can actually watch the meat being cooked fresh in the back, which made the whole experience feel even more authentic. I ordered the veggie plate with falafel, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, hummus, and tahini sauce, and every single item was delicious. The falafel really stood out. It had a perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior with a soft, flavorful center. Dipping it into the baba ganoush, hummus, and tahini made every bite even better. One of my favorite things was that the meal was incredibly satisfying without feeling greasy or overly heavy. It was fresh, filling, and packed with flavor, but I still felt great afterward. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, and the service was impressively fast. They also have a great selection of Mediterranean spices if you want to bring some of those incredible flavors home. Huge compliments to the chef and the entire team. Between the fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent service, Zait Zataar has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite Mediterranean restaurants. I'll absolutely be coming back!

I placed an online order for the baked fish plate around 12:45 PM and expected a bit of a wait since it was fish. After waiting about 25 minutes, I called and was told it would be another 10-15 minutes. The restaurant was busy, so I understood. However, after waiting longer and checking inside twice, my order still wasn't ready and there seemed to be confusion about its status. In total, I waited close to an hour for an order that was placed online in advance. What bothered me most was seeing customers who ordered in person receive their food before me. It felt like my online order had been overlooked. If online ordering is offered, those orders should be monitored and fulfilled properly, especially during busy times. The food itself was good, but the plate could have been put together better. The fries were placed directly on top of the fish, which made them soggy and took away from the presentation. It would make much more sense to serve the fries on the side. Overall, the food is still good, but the long wait, confusion with the online order, and lack of attention to presentation make me hesitant to rely on the online ordering system again.

My former boss was from Syria and came highly recommended, but never made the drive down. At this point, I'm counting the days until we return here again, because everything is fresh, flavourful, and vibrant. Here's what we ordered: Sampler - Housemade hummus was spectacular, the baba ghanouj was so savory and a bit smokey, and the falafel was warm, wonderfully spiced and not dry at all. I also HAD to try the kibbeh, never had before - amazing, so delicate, light, not overfried or oily at all. The spices inside were so wonderful, especially when pairing with some of the dips. Mixed grill : The meat was exceptionally good, tender, perfectly grilled, and juicy. The rice was fluffy, buttery, and fragrant. Mixed seafood grill: Delectable. The fish was beautiful grilled and lightly spiced to allow the delicate fish to shine through. I am no expert at this type of cuisine, but I've eaten plenty of Middle Eastern and Armenian food, and you really can't go wrong with rice and grilled meats - it's in our blood! PS: I personally love a bit of sumac on my rice and meat, lovely, bright, sour note that is very pleasing with this food. Thank you for the wonderful service and amazing food. We loved it. I wish we had this exact place in South OC.
