We recently tried Ham and Scram and had their breakfast burrito so good. It's mostly a grab-and-go spot, not really a sit-down place, which makes it perfect for picking up something before work, the beach, or a long drive. What really stood out was the service. The owner himself took our order and even brought the food out to our car, which you almost never see anymore. That kind of care says a lot about the business. The burrito was big, packed with flavor, and the kind of road breakfast burrito that actually keeps you full for hours. Prices reflect the current economy, but the portions and quality make it worth it. It's always great finding a family-owned place where the owner truly cares about the food and the customers. This has quickly become one of our new local go-to breakfast stops. Honestly, I almost didn't want to share it because it feels like a hidden gem but great small businesses deserve the support. I don't agree with Yelp! on this recommendation. It was not good. It's got to be the college students who like this place, demographic or who knows?! Opening the paper on the burritos we could tell the tortillas are super dried out. They're frozen or just old. We ordered a simple egg, cheese and hash brown burrito hold the ham. Little storefront on the corner of a small shopping center. Walked in, and the guy behind the counter was very pleasant. Ordered two, double meat burritos. I was excited to see how heavy these burritos were, especially for $33 bucks, from a hole in the wall type place. Got it back to the van and broke into it. The flavor was good - ham off the bone. The chunks were great. The salsa, spot-on. I just don't know if I can justify $33 bucks for two burritos, with double meat. To me, that's how a regular burrito should be filled. But sadly, that is now called a double meat burrito. I understand inflation, and we're all feeling it, but it's a burrito. How can people afford this?! WORTH IT! Definitely come and get your breakfast burrito here! The service is great! When you enter, you are greeted right away. The owner is very helpful and nice. He's great at explaining the food offerings. Inside is small, and is only meant for coming in to order and maybe wait for your food, then take it to-go and eat elsewhere. Got a lesson in expectation vs reality. I don't understand what the hype is about this place it was horrible. Pls check your order before you leave because it was not what we ordered. $15 for a mediocre burrito was not worth it. The "double meat" option was a joke. I wonder what regular looks like. There was 2 specks of pepper and no bacon. "Extra crispy" hash browns were black burnt sticks. Eggs were dry. I get better breakfasts at denny's and ihop and a better value. Absolutely amazing! We typically order through GrubHub but this week we ended up going to the shop. It was such a cute spot, especially how they have it decorated for Christmas... a bunch of piglets. We ordered the double meat and the original burrito, which once again were amazing. I don't recall her name, but she offered a sample of the soups (split pea and 3 bean)... and WOWWWW they were both delicious. My in laws ended up going later that day and bought both soups. Read some reviews and complaints about their breakfast burrito being expensive for what you get, but note this is chunks of REAL ham here, not bits of lunch meat. (you can tell) So, for $13.25, you get a nice sized BB, not filled with only potatoes. I asked for it to be cut in half and was stuffed before finishing half. It's tasty with a nice blend of ingredients that are all mixed together on the flat iron grill. This is basically a "to go" place as there are only a few places to sit. They also serve ham based soups and sandwiches for lunch. Took a split pea soup "to go" for lunch and already ate that too! LOL It's good and the staff is really friendly. We were in town to shop at the Golden West Flea Market when my son got a hankering for a breakfast burrito. Yelp produced two places of interest: some spot that we could not find, and this place, which was easy to find. The Glows: It's a 15 year-old family-run business and you feel the hospitality immediately. In the short time we were there, five customers came in and ordered the most popular item on the menu, the Original Breakfast Burrito. I sensed that the place had a loyal local following. There is a public restroom in the back. The Grows: No seating. You can stand at one of the two tall tables outside. Not easy to eat there with a light breeze blowing our stuff around. Lovely burrito shop that's family owned. Just recently came across this place with my gf and it was a delightful experience. The kind lady was welcoming and gave us good recommendations. We ordered their famous burrito and an avocado one. Both tasted bomb and the spicy salsa added a nice kick. They also provide other exotic hot sauces to your disposable. On one of the walls they had pictures of the owners and team members. They have newspaper clippings and a dedication to Uncle Bob. You know it's a popular place when they have a ton of merch. There was something to look at in every corner. Tim had helped me with my order, he was super nice and helpful. It was easy to ask him questions. I felt like I've know him a while. Regulars there were providing me with tips and how long they've been going there. I ordered: 1. OG Breakfast burrito - This was delicious and flavorful. You get a little bit of everything with every bite. I heard someone order extra crispy hashbrowns and I did the same. That extra crunch gave it more texture. 2. Breakfast sandwich on sourdough - Simple and satisfying. I could easily get full on just 1/2. 3. Ham cakes - Never had anything like it before but it was tasty. Tim was telling me that the chipotle ranch was originally for this alone but people started putting it on everything. This sticks to your ribs and fills you up. 4. Secret menu "Tim Special " - I'm not sure if there's a name for it but that's what I'm calling it. Tim told me it was cheddar, swiss, and pepper jack toasted on the grill and the then places tortilla. The meat choice is up to you. He provided me with different variations. I chose the cornbeef with avocado. When I took it out of the bag it had some weight to it. First few bites and I was sold. This is pure perfection. I highly recommend you to try this whether you want breakfast meats or lunch. 5. Corn chips- This was good. I think the guy overcharged me for this. I added it last minute. The sign said $1.50 dude charged me $6. He was telling me it comes with salsa after the fact but I just wanted the chips. I added this last minute when my food was coming out 6. Cookies - Do not miss out on these sweet treats. Tim told me this is locally made in Costa Mesa. We tried chocolate chip and smores. It had crispy edges, nice and buttery, smores were nice and gooey in the middle. Wish I bought more for the drive home lol. It did not last because it was that good. Neither of the owners was on the premises (maybe that's why?) but the toast was crumbly dry, and I had a ham and egg sandwich from a run-of-the-mill food truck the other day, that had twice the meat and egg-- at half the price. Had an early start to my day and decided to stop for breakfast, I am very pleased with my decision to try Ham 'n Scram. The original breakfast burrito is simple but so well done. Full of flavor and a wonderful portion ratio of food to tortilla definitely made the difference. The salsa was also a big factor of overall enjoyment of the burrito as it added even more flavor and a nice amount of spice for a morning bite. I noticed that many people ordered ahead and came to pick up which is something i think i may do in the future, but my morning wait was met with amazing and kind service that made the small wait well worth it. It's a grab and go environment which i think works well to accommodate the many workers coming to grab a great breakfast to help motivate through the mornings. Can't wait to revisit! read more

I went to Ham 'n Scram for one reason. To get a ham for my old mother's 85th birthday. I called a few days ahead (as directed) so they had it ready for me when I arrived. I requested the butt because it's generally fattier and more flavorful than the leaner shank end. The gentleman said he would cut it the day I ordered it. As an FYI, I wasn't planning on writing this review until after I tasted that ham, but circumstances forced me to change course. Located on Westminster, west of Springdale in a strip mall, this is a takeout only establishment. It's open at 0700 and closes at 1200. The menu has lots of breakfast options. It also has soup. Soup is one of my favorite foods. They serve three bean and pea soup. Today's soup of the day was ham chowder. This is a tough choice. Because beans are one of my favorite foods, and the man assisting me said it was his favorite, I opted for the three bean soup. The soup is delicious. It's better than my own. The carrots were finally diced. The ham perfectly diced in large cubes. Some tomato, but not very many. The beans were cooked perfectly. The broth was fabulous. There was no fat floating on top nor found in the soup. Sheesh it's good. The Ham is smokes, cooked and trimmed. It needs to be warmed and glazed. It came with the components they use to baste and the complete instructions. This restaurant utilizes a high volume of ham and gets them at a reasonable price. They pass the savings on to their customers. You may get bones or half of a ham at reasonable prices. This is a neighborhood restaurant (owned by the son of an RN I used to work with). We went there today since we were in fountain valley for morning appts. Now I must admit I didn't research this place my companion did and reported they had good reviews. Well I wasn't impressed. I didn't know there was no sitting, but lol the name says scram so get your food and goo! The gentleman at the counter was nice and advised the of burrito is what their known for so let's try it!! 30$ for 2 burritos and salsa. I'd say it was 2 almost hard scrambled eggs with hash browns, bacon and ham. It was okay, I'm mean it was definitely was filling but nothing popped out. I'm not even sure if it had any cheese and cheese is king. Salsa was cool though. I like a tasty salsa that isn't hot so this one was in my wheel house. I just thought it would be like a pow in my mouth versus a ehhh. And let me also say I am not a big breakfast burrito eater in the first place, but when you go to a smaller establishment you're left with less options therefore, this is why I ended up with the burrito when I knew I should've got a sandwich. Found Ham 'n Scram while searching Google Maps for a yard sale address. Thought the name was cute so I clicked on it. Glad I did because it's an adorable little shop that serves up some delicious food. We had the original breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint. You could taste the smoked ham in every bite. The lady who greeted us was so friendly and she even gave us samples of the split pea and 3 bean soups while we waited. Both were delicious but the split pea was my favorite. This place has actually been on my list for years and been wanting to come here when I used to live in OC. Finally got my chance when I came out to the neighborhood for a family birthday event. It's located on the corner in a smallish unassuming strip mall. The place isn't large and it's probably more geared for takeout. The young man taking my order was very friendly and helpful. I came in and ordered and got a coffee as well. The food didn't take too long. For the burrito itself, I got the signature original breakfast burrito that came with ham, bacon, eggs, hash browns, cheese, etc. I thought the burrito was really tasty and well constructed.
