This place is great, I really enjoyed the good music and vibes. I had a iced caramel almond coconut latte, excellent! There's an outside patio and inside bar top and tables, nicely laid out. Kristie is freaking fantastic, love her personality and wonderful customer service. Overall this is a sweet place, my only wish was reliable WiFi and plugins for power, but I'd happily return. read more

Excellent! My current favorite for espresso in Oceanside. A short, simple menu. Very good. Sandwiches prepared by the bartender between making drinks and drawing beer. Very efficient and smooth. Beer on tap, again a short list, but all the bases covered. One IPA, a Mexican lager, and, most importantly, always a Porter or Stout. Very laidback, local crowd. read more

Dropped in because I was getting a screen remade at K&M right across the tracks. Really good coffee and service. Locals appear to make this a regular spot and the service makes you feel like a regular. I grew up in a small town with a lot of great family businesses and this takes me back to that day. Had a tasty breakfast sandwich and am really glad I dropped in! Close enough to walk to Oceanside station if you're waiting on a train or need a bite after arrival. Check it out! read more

Awesome local coffee shop located on Wisconsin Avenue by the railroad tracks. It is within walkable distance from the South end of The Strand and the Beach area. I stayed in Oceanside for the weekend and came here twice for my morning coffee. * SHOP * It is a small shop, with both tables and bar seating. There's also tables available outside (but alcohol are not allowed outside). Pretty homey atmosphere and I saw a lot of people chilling with a book or their computers. * COFFEE * Very delighted that they offered Almond Milk Latte for us non-dairy coffee-lovers. The coffee is definitely stronger than Starbucks, and taste will vary depending on who you get as your barista. Nevertheless, I am happy with a nice strong cup of coffee to start off my day! Large Latte runs for $3.50. * SERVICE * Prompt and Awesome! Barista helped us with the selection and always offered us flavorings for our lattes, and special THANK YOU for the awesome coffee! read more

Love The Cup. As a local it's my favorite spot for coffee and a quick breakfast. The staff and the customers are all so friendly, I look forward to interacting with other Oceanside locals every time I go there. Great food, the No Meat for Me on a Jalapeño and Cheese bagel ($7) is my go to and the Breakfast Sammy for my boyfriend ($6). Coffee is tasty and local and they have milk alternative options. Iced coffee is my go to and will be a couple buck, maybe $3? Great hangout out front and in the back, plus WiFi when you need to get some work done. I love the Cup. read more

Treated to Father's Day for lunch. I really like the craft beer and the Southwestern chicken sandwich was very tasty. The beer on tap was "Slooow Mo" from Knee Deep Brewing in Auburn, CA (Amazing they choose a beer from Norcal when there are so many breweries in San Diego, but I really liked it.) The sandwiches are relatively small ( for a guy) and so suggest to always bring women with you as there is a good chance one will share the part of their sandwich they can't eat. No sides come with the sandwiches. The prices for everything on the menu are value driven compared to many other options. The craft beer is $5 and the Southwest Chicken sandwich is $8.00 The back patio is private from the parking lot and the surrounding scene. Seats are NOT super comfortable, but the wind is blocked by the 6ft fence. The people working were very nice (although maybe a few too many nose rings for me, but I'm sure others like them.) :) :) Fantastic day afternoon with my two daughters who treated me well! read more

Discovered this place while waiting for our table at The Flying Pig. We couldn't get a beer while we waited there but The Cup has draft beer so what a perfect surprise! My daughters and I came back to The Cup today to try their coffee. I had an Americano, one daughter had a chai spice tea and my youngest had a hot chocolate with whipped cream. Our total was about $8 and I couldn't believe it, such a deal. We all enjoyed our drinks, my youngest said it was the best hot chocolate and it was the perfect temp, not too hot. I also got a coffee and a warmed up sticky bun. The service was nice and people are constantly in and out. There are a few regulars which I thought was pretty cool. There isn't much seating but my sister and I were able to get a table. They are very dog friendly and I would gladly come back! The Cup is one of our favorite places to go, especially during the pandemic. My boyfriend and I just recently moved to the area and were looking for ways to get out of the house that didn't feel too risky. We discovered The Cup and absolutely fell in love with the vibe here: friendly, so warm and welcoming, and just a place anyone can hang out at. The outdoor seating area is very laidback, open, and very chill. The drinks are always delicious and they have something for anyone: people wanting a pick-me-up with coffee or people wanting to relax with a beer. Their food is yummy too, and I super recommend the Meatless 4 U (with bacon) which was recommended to me by one of the owners. What really has kept us returning, in addition to the wonderful things mentioned above, is how warm everyone is with us. During the pandemic, it's been really easy to feel isolated, and going here and being treated in such a friendly way is helping keep us sane and feel more connected to this new town we're in. We love it here! Check it out and try all the things. read more

We are here again and this time got to try some of the sandwiches. Sadly they were out of the chicken salad by lunch time, which is what I have been dying to try! I'm not surprised though, because watching the sandwich artist, he makes a LOT of those sammies! Anyhow, the turkey bacon avocado sandwich and the ham with sriracha were both excellent and incredibly fresh. It's impressive that this small and very busy shop puts so much love (and time) into sandwiches! I spent a few hours here with my dog working on my laptop out back, and I truly wish it could be my every day office. I live in North OC, close to LA, and have driven to this coffee shop for their latte and a sandwich. That's how much I enjoy it. Fresh, friendly, small; just a few of the words I like to hear when someone says 'coffee shop'. The baristas always greet me warmly, like I'm a friend they haven't seen for a while. The coffee is so delicious, I crave it regularly. The sandwiches are fresh and handmade, the things sandwich dreams are made of. Delicious vegetarian options always a plus! My husband and I stopped in to Frankie's on a recent Saturday at 5pm. Our kiddo had a performance down the street at 6pm so we had a little time to kill beforehand. The neighboring spots looked busy so we decided to go with Frankie's, seeing as they were less inundated at the time and we had a time constraint. Another allure was the sandwich board at the front door advertising discounted cocktails - sold!! Inside there were a handful of patrons at the bar, another table with two additional patrons and maybe a couple on the patio so it was fairly quiet and slow, so it looked promising. We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.

There is one person who works at The Cup and is nice to customers: Camden. One other person works part-time for Oceanside Fire Department and treats customers with basic dignity. The other proprietors/employees of The Cup treat their customers with blatant disrespect, outright hostility, and in at least three cases racial bias that have caused people to stop patronizing their establishment. I used to visit here to grab a cup of coffee and work remotely over the past four years, and the loud conversations that these people have about their customer base are nauseating: They harbor absolutely no respect for the community at large and care only about their money. I am no longer a customer at The Cup--I live in the neighborhood and walk by once in a while--and the proprietors/employees actively approach to engage in harassment and abuse toward others in the public space. These people are threatening, intimidating, racist, sexist, and generally pretty sad/remorseful about poor life decisions, all of which reflects in the loud conversations they tend to air in the establishment when certain customers are around. The aforementioned matters of fact are based on their own words and actions from inside the establishment and not my own opinions. My personal opinion is that the drip coffee is thoroughly disgusting. Take your money elsewhere! read more

Racist barista!!! First time I've walked into this establishment 6:35 am because the gal was 5 minutes late for opening the place.. regular customers line up at the counter for morning gossip and other meaningless conversations... One gentleman was talking shit about someone I haven't met and went as far as to say that person was a "waste of white skin" my jaw dropped.. the pregnant white women behind the counter threw her head back and laughed. Not the kind of bullshit I'm about to put up with before 7 am. Southern California is really bullshit people here have there heads up there ass read more

This establishment is what every local business should emulate. Super friendly staff, great owners that insist on keeping the locals happy! They have the best kombucha on-tap from Living Tea Brewing Co (which is right up the street), Gluten-Free muffins, killer sandwiches and the best espresso in town! If you need to do some work or just want to hang & grab a beer after work/the beach this is the place!
