Watch out for the female bartender. Holy wow was she on drugs. Slurred speech, falling over. I give her a $20 for an $8 pint and then they have no money in the till. So she spends the next 15min attempting to count her tips while I wait and gives me $9.50 back. Then has the nerve to yell "thanks for the tip" after she just hijacks $2.50 from me. Music is so loud you can't even think straight and there were 3 kids under the age of 10 in there including one dog. Owner - drug test your employees. read more

Kilowatt Brewing is an awesome brewery in Oceanside. It gets busy and for good reason. Firstly, the staff is amazing - they are friendly and always working non -stop with a great attitude. When I asked how to play a certain board game Kilowatt invented, the staff kindly explained. Secondly, the beer selection was interesting. I tried the pickle beer sour, brewed with herbs found in dill pickles, and it tasted like pickle brine but better. It's the most memorable drink I've had thus far. Thirdly, the interior is filled with neon lights, pinball machines, board games, and more. In the back, there's a speakeasy. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Kilowatt. There was plenty to do and I'd definitely stop by again whenever I'm back in the area. read more

My partner was down in O side for work and we decided to give this place a try. The place is visually cool. Totally grabs your attention from outside. Kilowatt Oceanside is colorful, fun and has plenty of yummy drinks, just like the OB location. While this locatuon is much smaller and lacks the funky blacklight art of OB, it does have a speakeasy inside which is a plus! Enjoyed some good brews and alky slushies early evening. This place is cool. It's streetside so you can just pop in. I found metered parking along South Coast Highway. I didn't see that they had their own lot. They are not beach front, but they are only a quarter-mile or so to the beach. Their bar has an open face to the street so you can sit inside facing outward and enjoy the Mission Ave. ambiance. They also have a number of tables inside. There are a few small, carnival style games inside, so that's fun. I had their 6.2% chocolate stout, which was good. We came here expecting a solid experience--chose it over a few other breweries in the area, thinking it would be a standout. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The beers on tap were okay--nothing terrible, but pretty basic and forgettable. What really brought the experience down was the service. Despite it being pretty dead for a Friday afternoon, the bartender was nowhere to be found for long stretches. At times, the entire place felt completely unstaffed. Upon arrival, we also saw that they offered two exciting specials: 1. Happy hour on food starting at 4:30pm 2. Their space-themed speakeasy that opens at 5pm By 4:30, we were starving and tried to order food--only to be told the chef hadn't arrived yet. That killed the vibe entirely. After waiting around with little to no service and nothing to eat, we ended up leaving before the speakeasy even opened. They do have arcade and table games, which could have been a fun bonus, but most of them were pretty worn down and a bit dirty. Overall, this place has potential, but the poor service and lack of readiness really made it a letdown. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

4.5 stars I haven't been to this brewery in a while. But we had a hour wait for our dinner reservations and we decided to grab a quick drink to pass the time. I had a good time. The beer was good. This place is disappointing. The vibe seems cool- there are pinball machines, a few games, super colorful lights, but the atmosphere is lacking. It's always empty in there. The drinks are not good. I don't like a single beer they have except for the seltzer or if I have to, the overly sugary frozen drinks. They recently started selling liquor and now it's more expensive for basic quality cocktails. It has the potential to be a cool place but it's so meh. I will probably not come again. read more

I always make sure to order the coconut pineapple blonde - the flavors of coconut and pineapple are so distinct, they hit your taste buds right at the top of your tongue. Desiree was amazing!!!!!! She was so attentive and even gave me options on the beers on tap. It was a nice atmosphere with good music. Parking is of course street parking but there was plenty. If you come on Thursday there's a farmers market so it might be a little tough to find parking. This location is bigger than the others. But with more variety of beers on tap. For the speakeasy bar inside Kilowatt: Space Pad It's a very weird theme. I think it goes in like a Chuck E Cheese for adults waiting or needing a place for drink and take a break from their kids. The drinks were okay and didn't impress us. I ordered an old fashion and it was decent. It wasn't anything special. Review is for the Space Pad speakeasy inside Kilowatt. One of the things I missed the most during covid were speakeasy bars. I mean, it would have been fitting during lockdown for those who didn't care about spreading covid, but I was definitely not trying to get covid. Now that things are getting back to normal *knock on wood*, I was excited to check out a new speakeasy in town. Reservations for Space Pad were easily made online. We walked through unmarked mirror doors to find a small bar with out of this world decor. It was pretty on point with the Kilowatt theme of bright colored lights and games. It felt like a child's bedroom. I ordered a smoked old fashioned that was exciting at first. It came with a spaceship smoker. I love smoky drinks, but unfortunately this one was more burnt than smoky. Overall, meh. It just wasn't really my vibe. Extra star though for the nice bartender and bringing speakeasies back! read more

The woman behind the bar didn't greet us and was on her phone, when we interrupted her important text conversation she gave us a weird stare and attitude. Looks can be deceiving. I've passed by Kilowatt multiple times but was never drawn to it. I wasn't really sure what kind of place it was, however, the neon lights got me curious. Upon entering, I noticed a few games like Jumbo Jenga and Jumbo Uno card game. The environment was relaxing. The beer selection interesting. I tried the Pineapple Coconut Blonde (4.8% ABV). Happy to see this place in the neighborhood. So many beers on tap ranging from lagers, blondes, pale ales, sours, IPAs, stouts, etc your sure to find something you like here. I ordered the sour blue raspberry slushie which was really flavorful but not too tart or sweet. It was just right to my liking, surprisingly it was 9.5% ABV . All there slushees are. I'm more of a sour beer kindof person but wanted a splash of their Guava 250 kWh ipa it was really juicy & straightforward as claimed. Highly recommend. I was excited to see hot dogs, sausage, and other food options at the bar something to try next time as we already ate. Of course I love all the lights, decor, can't forget about the games. Definitely a chill and trendy place. Check this place out you won't be disappointed. read more

Kilowatt is... interesting, to say the least. It's geared towards, or should be, the 20 something's with a penchant for microbrews, a club like level of music, and some interesting games mixed with normal board games. Good concept, but could work on execution. It's weird. The vibe is weird, and not necessarily in a cool way. It was confusing. It's trying to be for the 20 year olds but there were a bunch of us "old" people in there, either pretending to be cool or trying to have fun--and it was entirely too loud. So, I guess I'd say this place is in an identity crisis. Either completely cater to the younger crowd, or cater to the older crowd. But last night, on a Saturday evening--there was no way they hit their sales mark for profitability. I'd be shocked if they did. The beer was good, the staff was "meh". I'm sure if they turned the music down, the interaction with the staff wouldn't have come across nearly as off-putting. I think most passerby's keep walking because of the confusing ambiance/image they have going. If they could re-imagine the space... maybe change the seating layout to facilitate more individual group seating, versus communal. And having the tables run east to west (smaller tables). But again, that's a cost. Maybe turn the music down just 10-15%. Allow for table ordering? This place seems like the sort of joint that would have that cool tech-y hipster capabilities. The beer isn't good enough to keep me coming back to a weird ambiance. I can find beer literally anywhere in O'side--and good beer. So, AMBIANCE IS EVERYTHING HERE. Sorry folks. read more

I had never heard of this place but met up with a few friends who lived close by for some drinks. We had a pretty poor experience and don't think we'll be coming back. The people working and the service was fine, except the lady that was taking our order didn't really seem to know what was going on so maybe she was new. They were out of the first 3 beers we tried ordering so not a good start. Beer was good, nothing special. A little bit later we wanted to order some food. I guess they were changing up their menu so the menu I tried to order off of apparently wasn't what they were serving anymore. When I finally got a correct menu, it was very basic but I ordered some sliders and bacon mac and cheese. The sliders were microwaved White Castle burgers served on a paper plate that were still cold in the middle and the mac and cheese was extremely hot but clearly microwaved as well. The previous menu was Hawaiian food which sounded much better so not sure why they changed for the frozen food I could have bought at the store. The place seemed more like a bar than a brewery and wasn't worth my time or money. Would rather go to a number of the other establishments that are close by. read more

This is a cool place to visit. We were early for our reso to their speakeasy and had a drink at the bar . I've been wanting to check it out. The bartender was so helpful and kind. It seems like he was rocking out to some VERY heavy metal but changed it to Xmas music and we didn't even have ask which was nice. We didn't know we couldn't bring out drinks into the speakeasy which was a waste and bummer. Another bummer, there don't seem to be any other options other than beer. Came here for the first time for a vegan donut (Doughside Donuts) and beer pairing. The combinations were surprisingly good. I brought my two year old and she enjoyed sharing the donuts. They had some tasty beers. The mango IPA, was pretty tasty! I've been to their location in San Diego a while back but this location, although smaller, was pretty unique. They had lots of games for people to entertain themselves. I think the location is perfect too- located in downtown Oceanside, near the pier and across from the Regal movie theatre. read more

Kilowatt has a great selection of beers including some pretty tasty Pale Ales and some good IPA's which are my fave! I love how their tap says "OCEANSIDE" ! They have great deals on growlers too! The atmosphere is fun and inviting. There are lots of cool games to keep you occupied, and it's roomy! The bathrooms are clean which is a huge plus. You're pretty much in walking distance to tons of good food and right near the beach. Can't beat that! I'll keep coming back! read more

Nice spot sun Oceanside around a couple of restaurants. I had their barrel ashes Christmas Ale. It was quite tasty. I played a few board games that were available (in varying condition, they actually were a lot of fun, I cannot remember seeing so many games and activities in one brewery before. They have removed some of the fun games that used to be there (very sad since that was a good selling point) but the vibes and drink were still super good!
