It seems odd to be leaving a 5-star review for a "bar," but every time I visit Fat Joe's it's such a positive experience it's only fair to rate it as such. We visit at least once a month with friends from the nearby climbing gym, and always with our 6-year-old in tow who LOVES this place thanks to all the games there are to play. My favorite go-to menu item is the crunch wrap with carne asada - it's large so my husband and I usually split it. Their salsa is bomb, too (especially the green). We've also had some of their burgers, tacos, and our daughter always gets a personal pizza. The personal pizza scenario is the only thing I have beef with here - you get a 7" plain cheese pizza for $12, and you can add a max of 3 toppings which cost extra, so in the end our kid's food is more expensive than ours. Hey Fat Joe's - pleeeease considering adding a small pizza to the kid's menu and price it closer to the other $7 and $8 items!! The interior walls of Fat Joe's are decorated with art and murals of all the most important and beloved features of our city. The bartenders are friendly and efficient - drinks are poured/mixed and handed off quickly, and food arrives at your table shortly after. Bathrooms are always well-stocked and clean. Parking is pretty much limited to street parking and while it is limited, we've never had an issue finding a spot nearby. Finding solid family-friendly spots can be in short supply, but Fat Joe's hits all my criteria and remains one of our favorite spots to eat and spend time together. read more

Oh WOW! We decided to try out Fat Joes today. The Men'sWorld Cup was on so they were busy and it was a bit loud. But we were oh so happy we decided to stop there and eat! Their burgers were great! 3 of us had burgers, one had a turkey burger, one of us had carnitas tacos. Those burgers were big and I would say homemade. Fresh veggies, yum, best burgers we have had in awhile!!! The fries homemade and tasty! The quac and homemade chips were so good too. We cannot wait to take our other friends and try more delicious food! You do not find many places with food so good. Can't wait till try more items! I call my husband Wimpy because he is a burger connoisseur and he said he thinks it was in the top 10 of burgers he has had in his lifetime and he has had some good ones! read more

After climbing at VITAL across the street, I walked around Oside a bit but then I saw this place and it had arcades so I was intrigued and wanted to know if they had Ms Pac Man... I checked the photos on Google to see if anyone may have posted a Ms Pac Man machine and I got lucky! Someone posted a photo of a Ms Pac Man machine!! Now, I was on a mission to play my favorite game! I waltzed in and there are picnic style benches up front and an air hockey game up front (I think). I then made my way to the back and took a look around at all the games, some pinball machines, a basketball machine and then I found my beloved Ms Pac Man machine, which was a 20 year reunion model, shared with Galaga. Once I saw that, I went over to the bar and ordered a draft beer so I could drink it while I played Ms Pac Man. They have a good selection of draft beers and I opted for the Mango Wheat. Beer was good and $7. I then went over to the Ms Pac Man machine and played a few rounds. Its now 50 cents for a game but it still takes quarters. I had a good time and love when I can find Ms Pac Man!! Overall, a good experience here and I had fun! Id come back here again when in Oside! read more

Came here to eat and have some drinks with my in laws. My first time. I had the carnitas quesadilla and my husband had a double burger and we also had the jalepeno poppers. The quesadilla was good, the carnitas was good, not super greasy. Just a little which is to be expected. Husband was happy with his meal and wanted to come back. Personally wouldn't choose to come back on my own (I don't care for a bar type atmosphere for just food) but we'll probably come back at some point if anyone invites us. read more

While filling up my vehicle I stumbled across this cool little restaurant while in beautiful Oceanside, CA. This place got it all including a ton of TV's, awesome pinball machines and other arcade games. Accordingly, to the bartender this place gets very busy in the afternoons, nights and on the weekends. She also told me that they showed boxing last weekend and didn't charge a cover which is pretty cool. Now the only bad part during my visit was that the food took forever to come out and quite honestly 30 minutes wait for tacos is too long, imho. The tacos were okay and not the best but most definitely a million times better than any other fast food chain restaurants around. 4 Stars for reasonably priced food, friendly service and great atmosphere. Stopped in tonight after a long day athe office. I have great things about Fat Joe's all of which are true! I sat at the bar and had 3 tacos: potato, cheeseburger and fish. I know, a cheeseburger taco! All three were amazing as are there sauces. I recommend them all, but favorite was the fish taco. They have a full bar and large selection of draft beers. Basic dive bar arcade with real potential. The ambiance of this place is actually really nice which is what makes it a nice hangout but some of the bartenders are more than just "rude bartenders", such as the one dark haired lady that is very disrespectful to customers on and off shift. Aside from service, I've never heard good things about the food here either so I've never tried but the times where I wanted to try, the kitchen was always closed. But its a chill hangout with lots of draft options. In the end its nothing to rave about but if you're not looking for much, this place is a go to... as long as the bartender doesn't kick you out before closing because she needs to sweep. read more

Great place for the whole family! All American bar on S Coast Hwy with plenty of Arcade games and Halo for the kids. We had Fat Joe's Burrito with Carne Asada and Chicken, Chips and Guac and Kids Chicken Strips and everyone was happy. Salsa was good, too. Love that they have a jukebox. It can get loud at times. After living in Oceanside for 10 years, I think it's about time to proclaim one of the local favorite hangouts in downtown Oceanside. Fat Joes O'side is located on S Coast Highway just a minutes walk from the downtown area. They are definitely one of the highlight gems that stand out in a crowd. Fat Joe's is more than just a food spot. They are more than just a sports bar. They are a local favorite hotspot that provides a family-friendly atmosphere to enjoy a solid menu, good food, great drinks, arcade games and fantastic menu specials. Their staff service is very fair too (considering how crowded they can get). My first experience with food here was their barbecue wings on Wednesdays. I believe they had $1 price specials and I will never forget how meaty & flavorful their chicken was. I think they had the biggest chicken wings I've ever seen! The sauce was so thick, rich & flavorful! I recommend the BBQ, spicy BBQ & teriyaki for sure. I've also heard that they have delicious burgers and fries and I also like their tacos (especially on Tuesdays). Their bartenders are extremely skilled & make a wicked margaritas & I also love their spiked adult slushies. I think what's most impressive about fat Joe's is that they make sure to cater to both adults and children alike, making this perfect for family outings. While the adults can watch sports on the many televisions, the kids can play arcade games (some standing & some sitting), pinball games, win-a-prize games and they even have one for golf. The artistic Oceanside mural decors in the interior are the icing on the cake! Overall, Fat Joe's O'side is a favorite hangout for many locals & visitors would be wise to experience this gem if passing through our city. The only CON that I can really complain about is the lack of adequate parking on crowded days. But that is just an overall issue when being an establishment in downtown Oceanside and does not reflect the business itself. read more

Excellent dive bar for adults who even has arcade games for kids. Bartenders were friendly, especially Christine. They also have cold PBR cans. I ordered wings and they were just ok, not great. I am biased because there are some other exceptionally good wing bars closer to where I live. They have a digital jukebox. We travel to Oceanside almost weekly and when it's a Tuesday, we are always looking for a good Taco Tuesday place. Having tried several in the area and not being super impressed, we thought to try Fat Joe's. Our daughter wasn't feeling tacos, so it was nice to have other options. Randomly found this place searching for a place that would appeal to hungry kids and adults. This was spot on. Very diverse menu and everything we had was very flavorful. The two youngest had a hot dog and chicken tenders. The hot dog was perfectly plain! lol just what my kid likes. We also got naked buffalo wing! Spot on with heat and flavor. The carnitas grilled cheese. Super loaded with flavor and meat! My husband got some sort of jalapeño burger. Also flavorful and tons of toppings. Great spot with a full bar and great food. They also have a variety of video games and pinball machines and a two lane bowling alley. I started out with a local IPA recommended by the bartender. Opted for the Western Burger . It was cooked perfectly at medium and the fries were crispy. The service was quick and attentive for a mid week lunch stop. The atmosphere was chill and I was able to play 6 pinball machines without waiting, $1-2 per game. I left a few free games on the pinball machines for the next lucky patron. Chris was wonderful! I'm extremely indecisive so she picked out the wing flavors (spicy bbq & teriyaki) which tasted absolutely amazing. Their wing Wednesday special is beyond worth it ( $6 for 6 or $10 for 10) and they allow you to split flavors. Their is plenty of tvs to watch sports and arcade games if you'd rather play games with friends. The bar itself has plenty of seating with tables available for larger groups aswell. read more

They even have 2 small ball bowling lanes which I really look forward to playing next time. This place is a hidden diamond mine. For those of us who spent waaaaay too much money on arcades in our youth, this is a blast from the past. My buddy who has lived in Oceanside for more than a decade and "had the munchies" a lot took me here. The carne asada California Burrito here is far and away the best one I have ever had. The fries in it are crispy, the meat is well seasoned and it was enough for 2 meals for me. The green salsa on top was a designer cherry in a top shelf mix. Service was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. The number of beers they have on tap was more than enough for even the pickiest of beer snobs and prices were awesome. If you can't have fun and enjoy yourself here then you need to take a look at you because this place is definitely worth visiting more than once. read more

I saw the NFL schedule so I'm assuming that this is a football bar. My biggest issue with Fat Joe's is that they didn't have AC!!!! We ordered drinks at the bar & grabbed a table. They have great beers on tap as well as a full bar. They even have Twisted Tea on tap, which was appreciated by one of our party. There was originally a mixup & we ended up w/fried zucchini sticks which were decent (& gratis). Husband ordered meat-lovers pizza & I ordered a supreme pizza. They were 12" & could easily feed 3-4 people, but we wanted leftovers. Pizzas were seriously good. Nice crust and lots of toppings. One star deduction for their burgers. There were 2 All-American burgers ordered in our group and they were a bit lackluster. Neither finished more than half & didn't even box them up to take home. They did love the fries though which came hot and perfectly fried. The bartender & waitstaff were on top of thingsand friendly. The place is full of arcade games, but no bowling alley.
