Went on a Saturday for Dinner. It can get crazy packed but I recommend get a reservation if you can but I came in as a walk in an only had to wait about 20 minutes. They had great food - and great entertainment. Saturdays have live music and they started that Tropicana show which is also really fun to watch. My only complaint - is they have some pricey cocktails. But I can't complain too much since cocktails are always pricey and they don't skimp on the alcohol. Will be going again in the near future for sure. read more

Very disappointed.. we have definitely waited and waited for this place to open , hoping only for success. We Love to eat Cuban Cuisine. Tonight we were so excited to meet our friends out to try this new restaurant in Patchogue. Although there is another in Garden city by the same owners which was explained to us to be not so good . My husband and I wanted to give this a chance as we love many of the Restaurants In the Patchogue village. Tonight we were not pleased at all. Service was good, drinks we did not have anything other than beer and wine so no comments on alcohol. We started with the homemade Guacamole at the table I asked to not make it Spicy but my husband wanted jalapeños so they added some spice but not over the top . Later to find not any flavor at all. Not even any lime juice . We ordered each a seafood dish with lobster tail , clams mussels , shrimp, white rice and tomato broth... my husband ordered a similar dish but with habanero broth. The habanero broth was not spicy whatsoever at all and the lobster tail was mushy as if it was frozen prior to preparing. I had to ask for a claw cracker ( maybe if it was fancy they would have cut the claw for me ) but The best thing about my dish for me was The rice and tomato broth very tasty , our meals were pretty upsetting otherwise. I may go back for happy hour for specialty drinks and a Cuban sandwich but for now I'm completely upset. Drinks and apps at the bar maybe good I will advise with further review. I will give two stars because I liked the service, Tri colored homemade chips & the decor rocked. read more

Highly Recommend this restaurant, everything on the menu sounds good. Been here quite a few times. This one is better than Margaritas Cafe.

Being born and raised in Miami, I'm all about Cuban cuisine! So when my wife and I heard The Cuban was finally opening up, we were really excited to give it a shot!My wife and I came to The Cuban on it's grand opening and I have mixed reviews about this place. First we will start with the layout which is very weird. Immediately upon entering you are already in the "bar" area. If you look to the left then you will see the check in desk and beyond that are tables. Now on the other side of the bar are more table which face a stage that has live entertainment. The entertainment was great! I had a blast watching the showgirls and the MC was awesome! He was really funny! The food was great, but not Cuban. I see that they tried to make it Cuban as possible but it just wasn't there. My wife and I ordered the Churrasco (skirt steak) with Morro (rice) and platanos (plantains). The steak was good, the rice tasted more like a Nicaraguan dish called gallopinto and the platanos where to sweet and weren't fried how they were supposed in common Cuban dishes. If you are looking for a spot to get your Latin American Todd fix in, then this is good option. But I wouldn't call it a Cuban! Oh and the Cuban Sandwich for about $17?!??! Way to expensive! I would rather fly down to Miami and pick one up for about $6 or $7 tops! read more

We decided to dine here for our anniversary. Big mistake. Every time the waiter passed by, he hit my chair. We started with appetizers: Croqueta Cubana - greasy and insipid. Quesadilla Cubana - no flavor here either. Ceviche El Traditional - must have been in the jugo Lima with leche de tigre for months. You couldn't tell what was fish, avocado or any other ingredient. Hand rolled empanadas - three different types, the only one worth to mention was the camarones. As far as drinks, forget the wine! And, if that wasn't enough, as the waiter passed by with a tray full of dirty plates, he again hit my chair and managed to drop a fork on my neck. We asked for the check, paid it and left. read more

Never again! The service was awful, soooo slow. My mom's steak came out well done when she ordered medium. The wine was so disgusting we couldn't drink it. The bugs were a whole new story. They hung out on the window next to us. And yea they are on the inside because I killed one that got to close to me. read more

My family and I go out to eat often. I use to be in the service industry for over 15 years, so needless to say I know what to look for. I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. The service was amazing .... i wish i remembered our servers name. We never waited for long, for anything. From our drinks, appatizers, entrees to dessert were on point. We would come just for dessert, its that amazing! Usually when the 3 of us walk in somewhere were automatically judged....a white women, a Mexican man and a child (shes 6). But I never felt as though we weren't welcome which was a great feeling. Our server took the time to speak to my daughter, even though shes very shy. Thank you for making our night! We will definitely be back! read more

This place is AMAZING!! Patchogue is always lit but this place has an amazing atmosphere! If you go to the bar both summer and yeemy (Jamie) make some amazing drinks! They had set such a welcoming atmosphere I cannot wait to come back! The atmosphere here is amazing and welcoming! I cannot wait to come back for another brunch!! These girls really make your day here! Summer made us some strawberry and banana shots off the top of her head and they were AMAZInG!! They have such amazing personalities!!! Ask for THEM!!! This place has such an amazing atmosphere I have been here several time and it NEVER disappoints. Patchogues new hottest spot!! read more

The Cuban - Love the scenery. This shot is viewed from their bar but the whole place has amazing character. A must see!! - Cuban Near Me - Patchogue, New York

WORST restaurant experience ever. We were quoted at an hour and 15 for a table and were not sat for two hours. Our appetizers came before our drinks. 4 entrees were served and 2 were missing. When the bill came, the server explained she made a mistake but couldn't tell her manager. This would never happen at any other restaurant, I guarantee any manager would be more than happy to talk to a table and do whatever it takes to make sure they had a good experience. The food was okay, but we were only given 5 water glasses for 6 people, none of which were ever refilled. Needless to say: The Cuban won't last long in Patchogue. There are too many good restaurants who will happily take their spot. PS: our server yelled at a guest because the food came out late and we asked to speak to a manager. The server said "No" because they could get in trouble. Not the way to run a restaurant and definitely not who I would want to work for. NEVER. AGAIN. I've never been so disappointed in my life. read more

Went one evening and ordered an appetizer. Music was very good and people were dancing. We ordered the fried calamari but it was super crunchy and way too salty for me. I also ordered the Cuban sunset drink which had all the flavors I like, mango rum, cranberry, pineapple, grenadine. It was delicious! Definitely a fun place, I got pulled into a conga line and enjoyed the dancing. Place is pretty, nice atmosphere. We will try again another night read more

The oxtail was delicious and I loved my coconut martini. Great service and very festive.

It was a great experience the family sampler was good enough for 3 people as a meal this how I like to try a new restaurant I will go back to try different food read more

Went here on a Sunday morning for their bottomless brunch. The drinks were great and the service was fantastic, they definitely made the "bottomless" part worthwhile. The food itself was good, I got the Rumba Cubana Nachos. They weren't anything extraordinary and I was still hungry after finishing them as they weren't filling. Great location and great ambiance are a big plus, and the food was good, but it didn't really exceed any expectations that I had. read more

The Service is TERRIBLE... it's been 1hr and all we got so far is the lady who picks up the plates excusing the waiter. She ask for our drinks. 1 1/2 now and no waiter. No food. 1:45 in to the restaurant, she pick up Our order. DON'T WAIST YOUR ENERGY OR MONEY IN THIS PLACE, read more

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, also Mother's Day. We didn't have reservations, but they sat us almost immediately. We received a complimentary mimosa. Ordered, took the food about 20 long minutes lol- we were hungry. The food came out and everything we delicious. Now I have photos of all the food we ordered, but I think the bread beat everything!! Haha I'll be back for the live entertainment the manager spoke to us about. read more

My friend and I have wanted to try The Cuban since it has opened, and it is very difficult to get seated. The atmosphere is amazing, but the bar area tends to get very crowded. There is not a lounge area, and no where to sit while waiting for your table. There were couples in the restaurant who had been forgotten about, and ended up leaving. However, others that waited and dined here have spoken highly of the food! I wish this restaurant took reservations, and the wait wasn't so long. Side Note: Men have been told that hats are not to be worn inside, and it is not acceptable but the waiters/ servers/ staff wear hats. read more

If you want to get completely ignored. Come here. This was probably the worst dining experience I've ever had, and I've been to The Cuban in Bayside many times and never had any issues. The waitress was rude and the entire time she was only paying attention to 1 table, maybe her friends or family, but she was only servicing them, talking to them, and playing with their kids while she completely ignored our party of 6, and wouldn't even look our way. We were brought the wrong order, and when we informed the server she brought it back in our face and argued with us telling us that's what we ordered. The correct order came 20/30 minutes after all the other food, and when it finally did come, it was still wrong. We asked to speak with the manager who was polite and did her best to accommodate, but we ended up waiting another 30 minutes for a complimentary desert we didn't really want and the check, at that point we just wanted to get out of there. After we spoke to the manager the wait staff completely avoided our section all together and continued to ignore us even more. While waiting I kept overhearing other people receiving the wrong things, so it wasn't just an us issue. All in all, I don't think I'd ever come Back. You're better off finding a small mom and pop Cuban spot that will treat you much better than this. read more

Love the Cuban sandwich and great drinks. The food, drinks, atmosphere and music really make it great. The one thing that needs to go though is the annoying whistles. It's very rude I don't know if the owners realize but it's not only rude but beyond annoying. No one wants to have a conversation and hear that. But to end on a positive note definitely check it out. Update: they got rid of the whistles. Also, request Natalia she's an excellent waitress. Packed restaurant on a Saturday night and she made us feel like we were the only customers. Excellent service!!! read more

Met my girlfriend here for happy hour and appetizers on a Friday night soon after they opened. They had lots of staff on hand; many of whom seemed unsure of where to be or what the specifics where with the menu... we ordered the crab stuffed avocado and Cuban sliders... we also both had two glasses of wine as our waitress said wine was half price for happy hour. The pluses - atmosphere is awesome, live music very Cuban and well spaced; the sliders were excellent and I would def recommend. The crab stuffed avocado was just ok; it was more of a minced crab salad mayo based then a fresh crab ceviche which is what we were hoping for. When we received our bill we were charged full price for our wines and when we asked our waitress she told us "oh those must not have been included"; she did not offer to fix. It took about 15 mins and manger to fix the bill which was about a $30/$40 difference. I'm sure they will work out the kinks we will definitely be back once they've been open a little longer. read more

The food was very tasty but this is more of a Cuban Fusion restaurant not authentic Cuban. I have been eating Cuban food for over 45 years. The atmosphere was superb, and very nostalgic. The service was excellent, the staff was very accommodating and friendly. I would highly recommend anyone that wants to try a little taste of Cuba in the Long Island area to give this restaurant a try. The drinks were also tasty, I didn't try the desserts, however I did look over the desserts menu and it seemed very tasty. read more

We went to The Cuban back in March for my mom's birthday a few weeks after it opened & though the wait was 2 hours, they communicated that to us & we were happy to wait. The drinks were phenomenal, the bartenders were friendly AND quick with orders & once we sat the service was spectacular. The waiter was attentive & took drink orders as soon as we sat. When he brought the drinks (in less than 5-10 minutes) he took our food orders & the food came out in about 20 minutes. The portions are smaller than what people would normally expect, BUT they were perfect portions. They were filling & so flavorful. The entrees were great sizes and also incredibly flavorful. I left satisfied, but not overstuffed and gross. I would definitely visit again if you're not okay with a two hour wait, I'd suggest going during the week, maybe even during the day. read more

Wasn't able to take pictures of the food but this place was AMAZING!!! Don't believe what you may have read previously in the negative reviews as this place is OFFICIAL! The food is fantastic, and a true party vibe. Not the place if you want to have conversation. It is so loud, the servers don't always hear your order correctly. When they are busy, which is often, service can get a little sloppy. Water not refilled, no offer for another drink, and you do feel rushed. We had not finished eating apps when entree was already coming out. It's a great restaurant, but they need to figure out how to better the service piece. read more

Horrible, the maduros were under cook cheese oily and the eggs so over cooked it was like never ending chewing (how do you burn eggs).. place was empty, now I know why. It took an hr before the food even got to the table. The waiters never writes anything down and bring you the wrong meal, then say with the menu in toe, that's what you ordered. read more

We came tonight for my mother's birthday, we had a great time! Food was great, we loved the empanadas. We weren't told about no free refills so were shocked when we received the bill & there was also a $20 fee for outside pastry which we brought but was not made aware of when we made the reservation or when we came in with the cake. Karyn our busboy/lady was awesome, we loved her & we loved speaking to the manager who also manages Margaritas restaurant. We liked the experience, only downside was not knowing about the way total would be calculated. read more

Went here two weeks ago and wasn't impressed. Probably won't go back. The drinks sucked they were watered down. The guac was really good but that's about it. For the price it isn't worth it in my opinion. It's hard to find good Cuban style food around here. read more

Finally made it to the new spot in town. The place was packed and we were told one hour wait for our family of four, pleasantly surprised to have been called only within 20 minutes considering how crowded it was on Saturday night. If you don't like big crowds and loud music do not go on Saturday. Food and drinks came in a timely manner, it was a lot of fun to have the guacamole made right in front of us and à la carte. Our waiter was extremely informative and friendly and made our experience that much better. We found the food to have a true authentic Cuban flavor but the portions are not worth the money. My husband ordered the fried pork with rice and beans and although extremely flavorful it was like a kids meal (no joke). One of our daughters order the quesadilla and although ingredients were very Cuban Inspired, It looked and tasted as if it was cooked in the microwave just like my other daughters sweet plantains, her dish was steak(perfectly cooked) and moro(authentic flavors ) but the maduros had the texture of buying them frozen (like Goya) then just defrosting them in microwave and platting (not pleasant, authentic or tasty at all) As far as alcoholic beverages...when in 'Rome' we of course had to try Mojitos, we ordered a traditional and a passion fruit(did not taste like passion at all) and they tasted exactly the same just mint and watered down alcohol. Then decided to try a labeled margarita with Patron and totally did not deliver. They advertise and charge for 'Patron' but it tastes like house tequila. Needless to say we won't be coming back for drinks. Overall the atmosphere, service, decor and vibe were spot on but they really need to work on food portions, alcohol beverages and specially proper Maduros as they are a staple of the Cuban cuisine. read more

The Cubanitos appetizer was great. Puerco frito was really flavorful, as were the black beans and rice. Arroz con pollo was solid. Everyone loved the cocktails, as well. Skirt steak was not very good. read more

I planned a baby shower at The Cuban with a lot of moving parts. They were absolutely wonderful, professional and accommodating. They took very good care of us and we're super attentive. They gave us one dedicated server who was an absolute joy. This place went above and beyond and the food was DELICIOUS! The sangria was great and they didn't blink when guests ordered off the already prepared menu that was printed special with the guest of honor's name. I would use them for the next event that I do. read more

The food was excellent with well balanced seasonings. Especially the appetizer of twice fried pork pieces which were delicious. Tender morsels bursting with flavors of garlic and Caribbean seasoning. The Cuban sandwich was overflowing with delicious shredded pork and a side of mojo to dip it in. We had a virgin pina colada that was tasty and went well with the meal. The reason that one star was not given is because the desserts were lackluster. The flan with coconut had too much coconut making it chewy. My husband did not like it at all. The churros is one large churro cut in three pieces without carmel as advertised. The banana ice cream was yummy though The waiters are dressed in guayaberas and Cuban hats. Our waiter Ronald was excellent! He made sure that we were having a great time. He even made arrangements with the chef to make a special dinner entree for my husband! The Cuban is beautifully decorated and you feel transported to the Caribbean! Upbeat Latin music adds to the ambience. We're definitely going to make The Cuban our "go to place" for food and fun! read more
