Such a great meal from beginning to end. Brandon was our server, he was sweet and informative. Gave us suggestions for traveling around the area. We had the tuna tartare and the calamari, the Waldorf salad and prime rib sandwich. There was four of us and they split our food evenly for us. I just can't recommend this place enough. I come here often. There is an outstanding bartender, Kelley. Today I got the second team again. I was not greeted after a small wait. Never got a glass of water. I did get an order of wine and came ok. However, I finished my glass and set my glass at the end of the bar and waited 30 minutes for a refill. I finally got another glass and when a customer just next to me seated and the bartender asked him for a glass of water she finally gave me a glass of water. AFTER AN HOUR. I got one. After mentioned to another customer who knew the second team was here. I wanted to eat but I really didn't care for her condescending attitude. Again I'll go to the Post until Kelley is back. My last review the manager responded that he would give an drink. Never happened. I'm sorry that I'm need little help. I'm 74 and 2 Stokes and aphasia and Kelley takes care of me. Maybe if I want upstairs for Spruce and Farm I'd get the same food with quality service. Trying hire more help, or get on the cheap. read more

So disappointing, this used to be one of our favorite places to sit outside & people watch. Was the best calamari in Boulder & loved their french onion soup. The nachos on happy hour were the biggest plate ever, and @ $5 a total steal, now they're $9 we didn't order them though so not sure how they looked the calamari however was not good, no seasonings on it & was rubbery, & they've completely done away with the french onion soup. Their beer selection was awful too only has Boulder beer, guess since the owners wife has a share in Boulder beer that's all they want to serve now. One martni on their drink list, I used to like the variety of drinks to choose from. Our only highlight was our server Keenan he was very helpful trying to explain where all our favorite items had gone....new chef etc... read more

We stopped by on a Saturday night Around 11ish . It was not too busy and a server came to our tablet right away . Great selection of beer , wine , etc . We also ordered nachos and for our surprise we got a HUGE I mean HUGe plate of nachos . It's big enough for 4-5 people . Kinda expensive since a coors lights bottle cost $5.00 and wine $10 + . A nice little corner spot in the Boulderado Hotel building. When I was student at CU, this space was occupied by a men's clothing shop. I approve of the change. We sat at the bar. There was a friendly crowd and bustling staff on a cold, wintry Saturday evening. Hot toddies, dark-and-stormys and Irish coffees were being made in rapid succession (I had the latter). My friend K had a bourbon neat, and my friend M got her usual frou-frou drink. Since they also serve dessert, this was a perfect post-dinner place for us to chill out, satisfy our sweet tooths, and catch up on old times. The flourless chocolate cake with blackberries was to die for. The friendly barkeep put up with my questions about each drink she was mixing. The Boulderado Hotel is a little nugget of Boulder history on 13th Street that has been housing visitors and locals alike since they open on New Year's Day in 1909. The adjoining hotel bar/restaurant carries over the same rustic, nostalgic and classic Rocky Mountain combination of Wild West and Ski Lodge that Colorado has perfected. And as hotel dining goes, Corner Bar attracts local merrymakers in abundance. And for good reason: their happy hour runs from 3-6pm during which a chosen beer of the day runs guests only $3, $6 daily martinis, and 40% off wines and appetizers. When the weather is warm, the outdoor patio seating is bustling and in the winter months its cozy lodge-like interior and intermittent live music can't get cozier. I like the menu, though the selection is not as grandiose as the Boulder Café down the street. A nice lunch will run you around $15/head and the portions aren't mountain man huge, but perfect for my appetite. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!! Here's why: If I could give this place one star, I would. My parents and I were looking for a good place to have a nice Sunday dinner. We read some yelp reviews of this place which was beneath our hotel so we thought it could be fun. My dad was seated about 5 minutes before my mom and I arrived. When we showed up, there were about 12 other people there. 3 at the bar, 3 at normal tables, and about 6 people sitting outside. When my mom and I showed up, my dad was sitting at the table with only a menu, a fork, and a knife. He explained that a waiter dropped the stuff off 5 minutes ago and hadn't returned since. About 3 minutes later, a waitress came to our table to drop off glasses of water for the table and take our drink orders. (I just had water) but my mom had ordered a margarita and my dad had ordered a beer. My dad was super excited to just relax after a long day. We waited and waited and waited and still no drinks. There were 4 waitstaff total. A bartender, one waiter, and two waitresses. Not only that, but our waitress even MADE EYE CONTACT WITH US and didn't even PICK UP THE DRINKS. 7 minutes had passed and we finally saw the bartender make the margarita and beer and set them aside to have our waitress pick them up. We continuously sat and watched the three waitstaff bring refills out to the people outside. We even saw our waitress talk to one of the customers inside, and still no drinks! 21 total minutes had passed when my dad finally said, "screw it." So we left without getting our drinks. The Corner Bar has definitely picked it up since I was last here. I never spent much time here before because it was always: a. Overrun by college kids, b. Food kinda sucked. However, they seemed to have changed all that. I was here on a Friday night and there was nary a collegiate in sight. It's a great space with a nice patio and an upstairs deck with more seating... so lots of space. There's a great happy hr that goes till 6pm, with lots of options... but then the regular menu is also quite reasonable. But, if there's only ONE thing you ever eat off this menu, make sure it's the brussels sprouts. These babies are amazing. I guarantee you that these will be the best sprouts you've ever tasted. If I had to rate this place solely on the brussels sprouts... it'd be 5 stars. They're that good. Let me start by saying I called to make a reservation for a large party. The calls/reservations for corner bar are received by Spruce Farm and Fish and boy are those hostesses rude. It took several calls and missed messages for someone to tell me they wouldn't take my reservation for 17 people. No exceptions. The girls I spoke to on the phone were so cold, I wanted to just cancel and have my event somewhere else but it was kinda too late so I bit my tongue and decided to arrive an hour early to hold down a table. Its a shame that I received such a bad first impression because the second and third were extraordinary! Our server, Danielle was so on it! She handled our large party with ease; always making sure our drinks were refreshed and we had as much food as we wanted. She was fun, fast, great to talk to and just an overall great server. Also, I'd like to give a shout out to the new girl who just moved here from New York. I can't remember her name but she seemed to have caught on quickly and will make an excellent addition to the team. Food: Corner Bar just may have the best burger in Boulder. I also love the brussles sprouts and truffle fries. There are some good specials on oysters and the cucumber mignonette accompaniment adds a unique and refreshing touch. read more

The Corner bar is located in the Hotel Boulderado, a historic downtown building that was built in 1909 and still has the original elevator (complete with a monkey-suit clad elevator operator to take you up and down). I recommend doing this after a few drinks even if you aren't staying in the hotel. I've been to the corner bar three times and have never had a problem getting a table (even during the election). They always have a beer of the day that only costs $3 and the food is reasonably priced and inexpensive. The burgers and sandwiches are good (nothing earth-shattering, but what do you expect for $10). My personal favorite is the roasted half chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. The chicken was juicy and tender and the mash potatoes full of butter (the dish is huge - especially for being only $14). Our waitress was impressed when I managed to finish the entire thing. The staff is friendly, although they can be a bit slow. The atmosphere is simple, comfortable, and a bit stale - bring lights, polished dark wood, and an old west feel. The TVs - a small one over the bar and a larger flat screen above the main entrance - can be difficult to see depending on where your table is, so I don't recommend going here for sports viewing. The best part: one time when I was there, a gentleman sitting on the second floor balcony accidentally dropped his large empty beer bottle onto the first floor where it almost hit a woman who was dining below. She got furious, reprimanded the culprit, and refused to pay for her beer. She said the beer hit her, but it totally missed her. I think she was just embarrassed about the situation. Lame! read more

The only time I've actually ever gone to the Corner Bar is during happy hour. And a happy hour indeed it is. This place certainly knows the meaning of drink special. They have a beer of the day every day that is $3 all day long. The regular happy hour goes from 4 -6 I believe and includes tons of $5 small plates and specials on beer and wine. Besides that the interior is kind of hotel bar classy. (It's attached to The Boulderado hotel.) And the patio is one of the bigger in Boulder. Until last night, I had not been to the Corner Bar for many years. In the endless queue (surprisingly reminiscent of musical chairs w/o the music) that is downtown parking in Boulder, Colorado, the space I ended up in was across 13th St. from the Boulderado. Being the energetic adventurer that I am, I decided to just walk across the street to the Boulderado's Corner Bar, after consulting via cell phone with a friend re: a suitable location for an impromptu late dinner. The inside part of the Corner Bar was almost empty, except for a few couples sitting at the bar, and a few tables where the people were just finishing up and getting ready to leave. The outside patio that surrounds the entire Corner Bar was quite full, thus, being the crowd-avoidant person I am, I chose a table inside. The menu here is a smaller version of Q's, the main Boulderado restaurant. It's a decent and surprisingly affordable menu. I ordered a salad and chose an option of salmon fillet atop it for a $4 upcharge. My friend got a half order of their nachos and it was a huge plateful of perfect nachos (in my humble opinion) and that was only $5. The really neat thing was that I looked up and saw the semi-famous (in some circles) Tony Burroughs waving cheerfully in the window. We were invited to join his table on the patio, and did just that after we had finished dinner. It was so much fun conversing (mostly listening & learning) with Tony and friends out on the now-less-crowded patio. Service here is friendly but a bit slow-paced. Some of the servers seemed a bit rude, but ours was friendly enough. All in all it's a decent place and they don't seem to mind if people hang out and socialize comfortably for hours, which is nice! read more

After reading the other reviews which made the happy hour experience seem like the best in boulder... I was sorely disappointed. My girlfriends and I went out friday night and found a small table in the corner. The waitress came over and told us that on special was a dirty martini, well i didn't need any arm twisting, and ordered away. (little joking about how we almost liked our dirty martini's "slutty") it took forever to get our drinks, almost 15 min, and the drink presentation in theory was fun, but in practice actually got 1/5 of my drink spilled on the table (boo to waste good martini's!) and because it wasn't shook just before it was served, you didn't get any of those ice slivers in it i love so much. But minus that it was a great dirty martini. I was starving, so i ordered off of the HH menu, which like others have said is a great deal.... well good deal if the food is actually good. I ordered the papas bravas, you sure get a lot of food for the price, but they were bland, and needed to be smothered in ketchup, pepper (both of which i had to get up and get myself) and salt. Our group expanded, and I ordered another drink, same disappointment with the ice, but less spillage. The vibe inside was definitely an older crowd, busy, but not that exciting, service was slow, and food was nothing crave able. Then we got our bill, turns out the "special" martinis were not on special at all but 10 bucks! now if it was later in the night i would have paid for it, but the fact that it was happy hour, and our waitress had misled us into believing that we would be getting a deal, i was a little upset. we explained the position we were in, she apologized, but did nothing. We then had to have one of the girls go and speak with a manager, who fixed our problem. Another reviewer mentioned "simple and classic." The Corner Bar is both, in nearly every category. The menu is both reliable and interesting; well-prepared, substantial, and with a nice list of rotating specials (as a regular, I consider this essential). The service is great (a little slow, perhaps, but generally when I'm at a bar I don't mind the extra time), and the venue itself enjoyable--quiet, comfortable, with a breezy patio and an agreeable crowd. All that, and it's The Boulderado. You need to try the place at least once. read more

The Corner Bar has great food and good beer. The prices aren't cheap, but they are completely fair for the high quality of the food. I had ***grilled asparagus with polenta, wild mushrooms, and blue cheese ($9)***. It was seriously one of the best tasting dished I have had in a long time. On a recommendation from Ulla over at BookCliff Vineyards my bf and I wrapped up our day of wine tasting with a stop for a bite to eat. The bar is attached to the Boulderado Hotel and was cozy. There is open seating and we quickly found a table. Happy was still going on and we were able to order apps and drinks at 40% off. Score! I ordered the clam chowder which was delicious. Probably the best one I've had since moving to Colorado. Being an east coast gal I know my chowdas. The soup was so filling I ordered the gnocchi appetizer which again was delicious. Wow, totally hit or miss with the service. Two days ago, got a drink in just a few minutes. Yesterday, waited forever for anyone to even approach us, and then waited a while for the drinks to come. I thought maybe because we sat outside. Nope. Today, sat inside, hardly anyone else in the place, after practically tackling a waitress, we waited 20 minutes for our drinks to come. The edamame we ordered came before the drinks. A bunch of waitresses (one of which is a bartender, I think) standing around but no one actually making the drinks. I've never seen anything like it. The food (small plates) is good and they seem to come out quickly enough, but it's a major hassle getting anyone to take an order, and then an eternal wait to actually get your drinks delivered. Looking around the bar, it seems a lot of other people are having the same frustrations. read more

My friends and I wandered into this place after desperately searching up and down Pearl Street for a place that was open for dinner after 9pm on a Sunday. I'll admit that when I first walked in I was a bit skeptical that it would be a great dining experience. However, our server was very pleasant (accommodating the fact that our group grew from the 5 max we had told him to expect to over 10 people) and the fact that was basically took over the entire second floor area (it was great to have that whole section to ourselves). They were also very willing to split up our checks, as we all arrived and ordered at different times. I was also surprised at the relatively solid-looking vegetarian options on the menu. I ended up ordering the Gold Potato Gnocchi, which is listed as an appetizer, but was substantial enough for me to eat as a light dinner. The gnocchi were small, fluffy, and light and dense at the same time--just the way I like them. My friends ordered a bunch of other items, most of which I didn't try, but I did have a few bites of a s'more tart, which was yummy (I kind of wish I'd a whole tart to myself :-)). They also have lots of gluten-free options and a wide selection of beers, wine, and cocktails (I had a cocktail that was delicious--some sort of ginger lemonade combo, but I can't remember the exact name).
