Sadly, they're slipping. And I *LOVE* Corner Bar, so I hope this is temporary. Went in a few weeks ago around three. No more French Onion on the menu, so I ordered clam chowder. The food runner brought it out with a cloth, warning me that it was hot. I had to wait a minute or so to flag down our waitress and get a SPOON, but not that long. Still, the soup was only lukewarm, and the inside of the potatoes were COLD. Waitress was very nice and apologetic, reheated it. My Lovely Dining Companion ordered his burger well-done. It came out on the rare. He ate it anyway. I really hope that they straighten out whatever's going on in the kitchen, and soon. read more

This restaurant bar was great, really solidified my love for Boulder. I was only there for a day and I was so satisfied with what I found there. The service was a bit slow (we sat outside) but this helped it have a very relaxed atmosphere and our waitress was really nice when she did come to our table. Fat Tire was only $3 that night and they had other well-priced drink specials. My girlfriend and I split two appetizers in the form of a corn bisque with prosciutto and chanterelles and shrimp and saffron risotto fritters. Both were fresh, full of flavor but not overwhelming in their flavor. Just clean, bright food. My girlfriend ordered a basic steak and potatoes dish and I a green coconut curry with shrimp. Both were simply plated, incredibly fresh, and just the right amount of food. Although the service was a little slow, the food was of extraordinary quality and the price for both the food and drink (especially if you take advantage of the specials) was incredibly reasonable. read more

She's tiny, but how she can eat! My mom wanted to visit the formal restaurant, but our short stay in Boulder allowed us only a lunch at The Corner Bar. And what a lunch! (the tiniest one of the bunch, mom ordered three dishes) The food was delicious, service friendly and, after tasting a sip of mom's margarita with agave nectar, I had to order my own. This place has a nice environment, good beers, and tasty food. The only reason I gave it a 3 stars instead of 4 stars is because I thought it was waaaay overpriced. Last time I was there was 10 pm on a Sunday, and they had the only kitchen in town that was still open. I came here for happy hour and in the end, our bill showed a savings of around $35. I do have to wonder if the food is just overpriced here so that happy hour prices are more inline with what the food is actually worth. I don't know. Sure the bar is nice, the hotel historic, but the food at The Corner Bar is just regular bar food. My man wanted a meal and all they have is sandwiches. This place would have received a 3 star review with just the bar menu. However, if you ask they will bring you the Spruce menu, which is the high end restaurant on the other side of the hotel (Boulderado). We were able to enjoy the casual Corner Bar while having a nice meal instead of just sandwiches. The bar itself does have an awesome moose's head to decorate the place, which lends itself to the hip and mellow atmosphere. It is a nice place to hang and meet with friends. Drinks are solid and if available the patio is good for enjoying the Boulder atmosphere. read more

Everything about this place is amazing! From the delicious calamari to the jumbo, flavorful nachos this place doesn't disappoint. Our server who's name I can't remember.. But he has his nose pierced is such a relaxed free spirt which was nice. The Colorado beer is really good here. The town is really beautiful and relaxed. I'm so disappointed. This has always been at least moderately vegetarian friendly and now it seems activity vegetarian UNFRIENDLY. The few options they do have are terrible. Plus, they must have a new chef and he/she is not wonderful in general. Roasted Carrot Hummus?Gross!! Everyone in our group was disappointed with the food, not just the vegetarians. Those who have dined at Spruce said the same thing. It's just not very good. I've been coming to the Corner bar for about a decade and always enjoyed the place. While the ambience and location is great the nachos now have Velvetta like cheese and they took all the good stuff off the menu... Very sad. Honestly, great food, the best service from our server Rachel, this was everything I needed to fix a pretty rugged day. I had the prime rib sandwich with coleslaw (which was probably the best coleslaw I've ever had, even if that sounds inconsequential, it was perfect) and my friend had a burger with a couple beers. I took my Colorado University AFROTC son there for a casual dinner. We love great burgers and this place did NOT disappoint us!! Mike our awesome waiter suggested the Angus Burger, it was the best burger I've ever had! My son order a burger and he loved his too. We both told each other we have a burger place to go to in the future. Mike suggested their Bourbon drink and it was spectacular!!! Stopped in for a small bite and beverage. I got the mojito. Not just a regular mojito, there was something special about it (I can't remember exactly what but it was on the drink special menu) but I thought it was not that special at all. The $6 organic mixed greens salad, on the other hand, was worth every penny. It has raspberries, pistachios, preserved lemon, and was perfectly coated in balsamic vinaigrette. There are very few rest that understand the importance of sourcing their ingredients and actually providing an organic option. They also understand how to cook a burger medium rare. I like this place! I love the cozy and historic feel. I agree with Fishbits X.- simple and classic. A great place to go for a non-college atmosphere. I've never experienced the food but they know how to make a martini! Last time I was there, a pretty drunk middle aged man decided it would be entertaining to wear his complimentary bathrobe around all night. While this probably shouldn't have been too amusing, I was feeling my cocktails. Seeing him at Catacombs (in his bathrobe) after was more amusing. Menu went from interesting, well-prepared food at a good price to burgers, other boring fare (chicken breast, salmon sandwich) and a shitty wine list. Oh, and $8 Brussels sprouts and $4 oysters. Not only is the description of happy hour on their website completely inaccurate, we had to request a menu from the server, who then refused to serve me a drink as my ID is still vertical (after recently turning 21). Coming here for years, after a recent visit it is now off my radar. Went in on a week- end afternoon for a beer and a bite. New space looks good, cleaned up and the moose head is back! I had a craft beer, at most places the same beer is no more then $5 (which is pricy) this beer was $6, really, I understand downtown and hotel prices but that's at least a dollar more then any place around you! Service was ok..They had run out of bloody mix. The whole machine shut down..I am sorry but a barkeep who can not make a bloody mary on the fly is...worthless! The menu looked good but not in the mood for brunch at 2pm, there were other items other then eggs but few and far between. I choose not to eat due to limited items to choose from. Overall the ol' feeling is lost with the recent takeover by the Day Group, no longer feels like the downtown local bar but more like a cookie cutter hotel bar with a sterile feel. read more

We had one of our most memorable and romantic meals here! We both ordered the salmon sandwich, with a side of green salad instead of fries. The grilled salmon and the tomatoes and onions were delicious and even the buns had a buttery flavor. The salad with ranch dressing was the perfect accompaniment. For dessert, i had the flourless chocolate cake with caramel sauce and caramel ice creal. My husband ordered the blueberry buckle with vanilla gelato. After tasting both, we decided the flourless chocolate cake was the superior choice. The service was also excellent and friendly, and the huge moose head overlooking the dining room was a special treat!
