Everything we ordered was outstanding: the croquetas, the bacon-wrapped dates, the mushrooms in a sherry reduction with honey and feta, and a 'tapa de tortilla' . My son and I went here and at the door they just stared at us. Didn't offer to seat us. Very rude awkward. I had to prompt them to seat us. The lady still seem confused. Then we tried ordering things and would thank her, no response. Even my four year old has better manners. Throughout the dinner we heard another waitress being very rude to another table. Shocking. Then we had to wait a very long time to get a table. Food was ok but the people working there were incompetent and rude and seemed very slow and confused. Not sure what was wrong then. This place was so sadly a disaster! I write this review as I feel the torture in my belly. That obviously would give it a 1 star to begin with. But the torture is more. The manager or owner? Not sure who he was but clearly one of the two since he actually gave us a discount when I told him my honest opinion of the place. Terrible service and terrible food. He agreed quickly with the service part but put blame on us for not ordering what he had suggested. Well little guy, you were out of what you suggested! And only a partial reason why we left after only a couple tapas to start. Had plans to spend much more money oh but you were also out of house white wine at 530 on a Saturday with an empty restaurant. That was my sign to get the heck out. Then we get the bill and we are warned it's probably incorrect and sure enough it was. Really only thing that was decent was the owner/manager taking some money off but still does not help me throwing up his rotten aioli! We have been to eat dinner several times since they changed management . They finally got their liquor license after a very long dry period . They are famous for their small plates . You can enjoy a variety of dishes & not feel stuffed . Salads are very fresh . Chicken patties are delicious . When you make your reservation you can choose which dining room you sit in or outside on the patio . Last time we ate we sat inside and smelled like wood fired pizza when we came home . A night out for Denver Restaurant Week. We had the lamb rellenos that came out of the kitchen, maybe at room temperature...We were an early reservation at 6pm and they were already out of tiramisu. We are appalled, embarrassed and mortified at our experience at Dagabi. We were a party of 6 where the other two couples were experiencing Dagabi for the first time. The service was beyond deplorable. The young, shortish female waitress was flippant and uninterested in our customer experience. The dishes for the six of us came out one at a time, over a one hour period. No explanation, no apologies. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, and it came out long after the first three meals were on the table. We ordered bread, and it came at the end of the meal. Some of our party had respectfully waited before starting their meal, which got cold, because the rest of the meal was almost an hour late. The last pizza came out as we were all finishing our meal. It was boxed to take home. We asked that they comp the meal, and the request was not even acknowledged. We asked that the bill be divided.three ways. OUR BAD to not review every line item before paying the bill. After waiting for so long to get our meals, including the pizza that arrived after we were finished, they had the GALL to add a "large party" gratuity. No tip was earned! The waitress never shared this with us, and never showed us the bill. Yes, we should have asked. During the gaps of 20-30 minutes where some were eating, some were waiting, there were NO touch points by the waitress, or apologies for the delay. Again, this was mortifying for us and our guests. The restaurant should have offered some compensation, especially for the meals that came over an hour after the first ones were served. This was a HUGE fail. The restaurant could have made it right. We will not return. Shame. read more

We came for the Tapas, and this place did not disappoint. The food was wonderful, and the wait staff was attentive and responsive. Our food arrived quickly, and the presentation was spot on. The Owner/Manager stopped by to check on us several times, which was quite nice. He also went out of his way to help a special needs group that needed help navigating to and from their table. He walked with them all the way to the parking lot to ensure that they were taken care of. I'm always impressed when people genuinely care about their customers. We will be back for more! This is a great place for tapas. Parking is easy, and they is both a patio and a casual, inviting indoor atmosphere. As for the food, I absolutely loved the mushrooms; it's a delightful mix of sweet and salty flavors, perfectly caramelized, simply amazing! The Spanish shrimps were also good, although I wish they would offer bread to soak up that yummy garlicky sauce. A couple of my friends seemed to enjoy the Petit filet mignon. The sangria, while refreshing, leaned more towards a frozen drink style, and I personally prefer a more traditional one. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate tart. I do have to say that I wish the filling had been less compact; it was quite challenging to cut through it without a piece flying all over. However, my friends raved about the Crème brûlée. It's interesting to note that 8 years ago I wrote a review of that restaurant and it seems not much has changed, I had made some similar comments about the food. If tapas aren't your thing, the menu also offers pizza, paella, and other more substantial dishes. We all enjoyed our dinner, and I would definitely go back! read more

We've been regulars at this local restaurant for years. But no longer. Never have I experienced such poor service at an this eatery--or any other. Our party of six arrived for our lunchtime reservations and soon placed our orders: 2 salads, 1 pasta dish and 3 pizzas. The salads came out on time. Ten minutes later, the waitress served one of the pizzas. Another 10 minutes passed and our friend's pasta dish came out. About 40 minutes later, the waitress served the second pizza and 30 minutes later, the third. That pizza that never touched the table because we had been there for an hour and 40 minutes and needed to leave. Our request to be credited for the delays was ignored--and worse we paid our bill with a card reader not knowing that a 20% large-party gratuity was charged without our knowledge. The place was nearly empty when we showed up around 6pm on a Sunday - our first warning. We were a party of 6 and ordered perhaps 10 dishes. Only two were OK. The fish we ordered was tasteless. The mussels and broth had zero flavor. The bruschetta was burned. The greens were watery. The mushrooms were so sweet they tasted like dessert. The Margherita pizza was NOT a Margherita - it was a tasteless cheese bomb. Only the olives and the fish croquetas were good. The service - they never asked us for our drink order. The women's bathroom had standing water on the floor. The men's bathroom smelled like marijuana and was dirty. They put our party in the backroom where you couldn't hear the conversation over the refrigerator. Overall, an enormous disappointment. The owners should honestly be embarrassed. This place won't be open in 1 year - there is no way they can be making money. The death spiral has begun. read more

Service was bit frazzled tonight -- we went with several tapas plates, but also an entree and a salad to share, and the latter came out waaaaay after the others. Our water bottle was perennially empty, too. Overall, though, that good flavors make it worthwhile. read more

Dagabi Cucina is truly a hidden gem as I was beyond impressed with their service, food and ambiance. Can't think of a better Saturday night: scrumptious food, amazing drinks AND, as an extra special bonus, they had live music as well. It was definitely worth the drive to Boulder. Everything we had was really good: mushrooms, kebabs, pizza, and lobster bisque soup. I really want to try their home made linguini next time. The house cab was just ok but their lemon drop martini was one of the best ones I've ever had! Currently, they do not have a liquor license. They hope to have one by end of September. Liquor isn't everything, but cocktails or wine are a part of dining out for our group. That being said, even with drinks, the 2 star rating would still have been 2 stars. I liked the location, the restaurant is tucked in and the patio looked lovely. There were rain showers predicted so we opted to eat inside. It's well decorated and intimate. We were excited by the menu offerings. I love Mediterranean food. Paella, tapas and croquetas are some of my favorites. We were all hopeful. We started with tapas. There were 4 of us, so we asked about tapas portion sizes. Our very perky waitress stressed that their tapas plates were very small portions. She used the phase several times. I'm glad she told us. Our table ordered 2 orders of calamari, 2 orders stuffed wrapped dates, 2 orders of chicken croquetas and 2 orders of the large meatballs. For the calamari each saucer size plate had barely 1/2 cup of calamari on it. There were 3 wrapped dates per order, they were sticky but lacked sweetness and there was no saltiness from the ham. The ham actually just sort of flaked off. I think they may have been deep fried? There were 2 croquetas per order. Each was a 2 in square. Again no flavor and they disintegrated as we tried to eat them. The meatballs were listed as large and they were indeed large, but they were dry, dense and tough. We shared 3 entrees between us. A mediocre and bland very soft Linguine Bolognese with overcooked pasta, a seafood paella with a reasonable amount of well cooked seafood mixed into mushy rice (zero crispy edges or bottoms and flavorless) and a sad smothered chicken marsala with overcooked string beans and dry mashed potatoes. The whole meal was lackluster and felt reheated. The server was attentive and friendly, but did not have a knowledge of the menu items aside from tapas size. Her pep got the 2 stars in this review. One more thing, as we left the restaurant we realized we smelled like we'd been at a campfire. We didn't smell it when we entered but my hair, my dress, my sweater all picked up the wood fire smell from the kitchen. This is a foodie town there are amazing restaurants on every block. Our meals were just not worth the money or the time. I can't recommend the restaurant and I can't go back. It was a disappointing meal. read more

This used to be one of our favorite places, and sadly, it has evolved to be just mediocre at best. We visited on 6/22 and the service was very slow. We ordered the special salad and 3 items from the regular menu, along with a glass of the wine that was listed as a special. The special salad was no more than bagged greens with bottled dressing and sad unripe tomatoes. The food items from the regular menu were so-so; not terrific, but not bad. We were told by our server they were out of the wine special so we ordered 2 glasses of a different white wine. When it arrived (15 minutes later) it was room temp. We sent the warm wine back. When the bill came, after waiting and waiting, we were charged for both the wine we never received AND the wine that was sent back. The server then tried to tell us he could not remove the returned wine because the manager had already left for the night and there was no way to take it off the bill (it was 7:30 pm on Friday). After a few back & forth conversations, he somehow managed to give us discounts on other food items to make up for the error in charges. It pains me to give a locally-owned, much-needed and formerly-loved neighborhood establishment a poor review, because I would love them to succeed. Perhaps they are still working out the kinks from the ownership change, but this was a really disappointing experience. For the cost of the meal & drinks, I expect much more. I hope they can get it together - and when the reviews start reflecting so, perhaps we'll go back. Until then, it's off our list. read more

We focused on the tapas menu and enjoyed Spanish Shrimp, grilled greens, chicken croquettas, Serrano-wrapped dates and Moroccan pork skewers, among other things. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Mendoza Malbec for $40 and there were several other bottles at lower price points, plus many glasses, plus cocktails plus local beers on tap. We came Tuesday night which has a happy "hour" that lasts until closing. We started with a carafe of sangria that went down easy. We then shared the Margherita pizza. My wife and daughter had the paella which wasn't on HH but they loved it. We ordered the sautéed mushrooms, and greens also in the HH menu. We also had the cream of mushroom soup. Dessert included strawberry creme de brûlée, and the chocolate torte. Not a bad bite, and I did a double take at how inexpensive this awesome meal was. read more

I use to love this place. What happened? Who's the new owner when was it bought out? I was there on Wed. June 18 at the bar around 5:00. There was a young gal with dark hair bartending & wasn't dressed appropriately. The servers wear uniforms so what happened to the bartenders? A bit Hooterish with side bra showing around the the underarm. The bar was dirty & she kept pulling her hair back because it was getting in her face then cutting limes. Back & forth, not sanitary & wiping her hands on a dirty rag hanging from her waist. But the worst was her grabbing beer & wine glasses by the rim instead of the bottom or stem. That too is unsanitary where people r going to put their lips. The baker had not baked bread & myself & the gentleman next to me waited 45 min. for bread so by that time it arrived the mussels were cold. The food here is always good but these mussels shrunk due to over cooking them. Sad! The black drop lights above the bar r caked with dust. And the entry rug was filthy coming in. What a disappointment! 1. We ordered mussels as an appetizer. Because paella takes time to cook, many restaurants I have been to ask to order right away or even pre-order it. Mussels and paella, and grouper (today;s special) all came out at the same time. It took probably 15 min. Mussels had no bread come with it to enjoy the sauce. Some photos here had a couple of pieces of bread on the plate. I had to ask for some bread. Without bread, what did they think we would do with the sauce? 2. Grouper came with mashed potato - yes, this is a Spanish restaurant. The menu mentioned "rice". So we asked the wait-staff. She went to the kitchen and told us that they ran out of rice. I thought restaurants usually asked if we were ok with any substitutions first. When the order went in, the kitchen should have told the wait staff that there was no rice. And the wait staff should have come to the table to ask if it was ok with mashed potato instead. They did not, and wait staff did not notice it at all. We pointed that out, but there was no apology. This is completely inexcusable. The plate was like an airline food on the economy class, and it tasted like one or even worse. No flavor. Tons of green peas hiding grouper. It was almost $30. Green peas and mashed potatoes. And this is a Spanish restaurant. 3. Paella came out on the plate, not on the paella pan. That means no burned rice that many people love. It was served so quick. Was it pre-cooked? We were simply disappointed. I only had Spanish food in NYC and Tokyo, and it was so flavorful. I do not understand why the restaurant had this high rating. We had no desire to try desserts. Very disappointed at the food and service. This was my birthday dinner that my son invited.
