The only food we had was the bread basket with olives and we ended up ordering 2 because the first one was warm and delicious and didn't last long. The beets seemed to be popular as did the happy hour grilled cheese. Absolutely Horrifying Treatment of a Disabled Customer…read more I have never experienced treatment this disturbing from a business. I went to Press Play Bar and after ordering our drinks we were walked up on by one of the bouncers saying they needed to remove the stools because the capacity starts to increase more, I explained that I have a disability that makes it difficult for me to stand for extended periods and that I needed a barstool in order for my safety and that I was only going to stay for the drink I had ordered considering I wouldn't be able to physically continue through the night without being able to sit down. Instead of accommodating my disability or even attempting to understand the situation, the person identifying himself as the "GM" ripped the barstool out from underneath me. What happened next was completely unacceptable. They grabbed my partner out of her seat without allowing us to close our tab (seems to me that they might be doing that to be stealing 20% gratuity) I was shoved by a bouncer and then the GM grabbed me by my hair and forcibly pulled me toward and up the stairs, during which my head was struck against the stairs. This happened after I had explicitly explained that I could not safely stand without the stool because of my disability. What made the situation even more intimidating was that, while I was being removed, I was confronted with gestures that appeared to me to be gang signs. Whether or not that was the intended meaning, I experienced the behavior as threatening and intimidating, especially given that I had already been physically handled and was being forced out of the establishment. I was not asking for special treatment. I was asking for a basic accommodation because I physically could not remain standing safely. To be treated this way after disclosing a disability is absolutely horrifying. Removing a stool from underneath someone who has explicitly explained that they cannot safely stand, followed by physically shoving, grabbing, and forcibly removing that person, is completely unacceptable. I strongly encourage ownership and management to take this incident seriously, preserve and review all available surveillance footage, identify the employees involved, and investigate exactly what happened. I will never return to Press Play Bar, and based on what I experienced, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone--particularly anyone with a disability who expects to be treated with BASIC dignity, safety, and respect.

Nissi's is a great event space. I know it as a host to local (and sometimes not so local) music…read moregroups. On their website, you will find a full roster of shows to include local bands, comedy, and a lots of tribute bands. They are also open to private events. I find myself at Nissi's about once per month to see my favorite a capella Rock Band, Face Vocal Band. Face has performed at Nissi's for over 250 shows, and while they have been hosted at venues around the country, and literally around the world, Face loves to perform frequently for their local fanbase. Nissi's and Face built a great relationship starting two decades ago, at Nissi's former location, and traversing the years to tonight, where I will see what must be my 15th or 20th Face Vocal Band performance at their home base--Nissi's (I've been to both the former and current NIssi's locations). At Nissi's there is literally not a bad seat in the house. They have high tops in the back, where you can see over all the tall audience heads and look the performers right in the eye, and they have a lot of floor seating of various table sizes. It's not a huge venue, I think sitting about 75 in the audience. Tickets are reasonable priced-- I paid $35 each for mine tonight. While my husband and I have our favorite high tops for two, this time, I chose a four-top high-top to accommodate my visiting family and myself. I like the high tops in the back, firstly, because I'm short and can see over everyone, but mostly because the sound is great when you aren't too close to the stage. You can also choose a table for two, four, or 6, or whatever you need. Of course, you can always purchase a single ticket at any table with an opening. Meet someone new! The food is also good. There is a menu of reasonable size, and you can purchase a delicious and varied cheese plate, choose from a variety of appetizers, or go full boar with a large burger (poultry and plant versions are available), a local trout piccata plate, tacos, or even a beef stew. There are salads, sandwiches, and wraps. There is a full bar, and a selection of wines and beers that are not too shabby. The servers are skilled and unobtrusive, as you can choose to arrive early and finish your meal ahead of the show, or eat during the show if you prefer (food or drink purchase is not required, but hey, why not live a little?). I find the desserts to be a bit much--large and too sweet, so I have usually skipped that unnecessary splurge. Until... two months ago when they added a homemade lemon sponge cake and ice cream to the menu. OMG, so good! Not overly sweet, and refreshingly indulgent.
