This place was so fantastic. My friend and I landed here after we drove up north from Denver for a hike that never happened. We were dressed a little sporty and opted to eat at the more casual upstairs. We sat at the bar and although we did not partake in the adult beverages, we watched the magic happen. The cocktails were crafted with such care and presented beautifully. At one point I saw a bartender spend an entire 2 minutes getting the salt rim on the glass just right. We ordered the Peaches and Burrata salad. It had a combo of grilled and not grilled peaches along with creamy burrata. They were perfectly in season and just the right balance of sweet and savory. We also ordered the half chicken which was pretty substantial. The chicken was so flavorful and juicy, we made sure to put a forkful of skin on each bite as it was dripping with flavor. Topped with the occasional bite of parsley, it was fantastic. It was served with fries that were the perfect thickness allowing them to be crispy but still substantial. We dipped it in the gravy of the chicken juices and it was perfect. The guy next to me was clearly a regular and informed us that downstairs the chicken came with couscous and veggies. So glad we came upstairs!

Love this place and everything about it! The Kitchen's Upstairs lounge in Boulder is what Denver is missing: an elegant, upbeat, slightly quirky space that's constantly doing something fun and new. It's perfect for happy hour drinks with a friend, a first or 20th date, a group outing, or anything in-between. Earlier this summer they were going with a tiki theme, but now it's all Prohibition: mod lounges, lots of cool lights and mirrored surfaces, upbeat 20s style music, and fantastic cocktails. My favorite cocktail is the purple concoction that looks like it's straight out of Willy Wonka: called Giggle Water, it's made with Cap Rock gin, lemon, turbinado, cream, and soda. It's actually not as sweet as it might sound/look, but rather a perfect balance of herbal, citrusy, creamy, and sweet. And it's also 1/2 off on happy hour 5-6pm and the last hour of each night! I also loved the delicious Cup of Joe with cold brew (I don't usually like coffee but this was perfectly flavored) -- and the refreshing London Prohibition (cucumber, lime, tonic -- meant to be non-alcoholic but I asked for gin). And the food is fantastic as it always is at the Kitchen. You definitely won't regret ordering the lamb meatballs or the peach burrata!

Really cute upstairs lounge on Pearl Street! I highly recommend reservations. We didn't have one so we were just going to get a drink and leave but thankfully a table opened up and we were able to enjoy drinks there. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and friendly. I showed my bartender a picture I saw here on Yelp and he was able to create something based on my liking. It was delicious and boozy. Would recommend if you're in the Boulder area!

Brussel sprouts are deep fried and so good

Fun spot with a small but tasty menu, upstairs from another very tasty place. We devoured the fried brussel sprouts and the burrata flat bread. My favorite, though, was the spicy, sweet seafood hush puppies - outstanding! We also enjoyed the addictive salt and vinegar Cicerones, the Moroccan spiced meatballs (great sauce), and the half chicken. The best part of the chicken was the fries, soaked in chicken juices. The white meat needed to be dipped in the juices/gravy, but the fried were double fried and salty goodness. I had high hopes for the squash dish but it needed something more... The toppings were all good and I liked the combo, but the squash itself was stubbornly flavorless. Could have used a dusting of the spice from the yogurt. We had great service and a great spot that felt semi private, almost stall-like. Would totally go back!

Bartender made us some special shots. Really good

We made a reservation on yelp to go for HH. happy hour 5-6pm + last hour of the night, select items 1/2 off. Got a happy hour cocktail and some apps. Really enjoyed my cocktail. Appetizers were really good- hush puppies, small salad, oysters! Cool tiki vibe. Bartender was friendly. We asked her to make us some shots- her choice. We made a delicious shot with gin and bourbon based on what we ordered for our cocktails- well played!

Hazelnut drink, can't remember the name

This was such a great find. Our bartender was awesome, we had his twist on a Manhattan. Tiki AF, and a hazelnut drink that was really good. Highly Recommend!

A favorite in regular rotation. Terrific cocktails, cozy. Great staff. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

The inside is a little bit divey in feel but more upscale than your typical dive bar. They had tons of seating, and I saw next to a fireplace because it looked cozy (it was). The server was quick to take my order even though it was pretty busy in there (was rush weekend I think for the university?). I had the tin man HH cocktail because my server said it would be the most floral (has elderflower in it) and I quite liked it! Was very refreshing, not too strong. Aside notes: the bathrooms were quite clean. Parking was a little chaotic, some is paid parking and some is free 2 hour. There are only a couple spots right in front, I had to park a few blocks down but it was in 2hr free park by another small business that was closed for the day. I didn't have any issues there. Overall thought this was a fun little bar in Boulder with good happy hour drinks, I would def come back :)

Man what happened to this place…read more. Jasmine used to be my favorite bar in the area. They provided a varied menu with incredibly unique and delicious drinks with an upscale yet cozy vibe inside. However our last visit was anything but. Supposedly they've made the decision to drop the entire "old menu" as the bartender called it in favor for an uninspired and honestly boring Christmas menu with drinks that weren't even remotely on the level of their previous offerings. Yet the prices were actually higher than their standards. This current menu feels like something you'd pay $11 for at a dive or chain restaurant. After a relatively long wait for service, we ordered 3 drinks, having to repeat ourselves multiple times to the hostess that didn't seem to have any clue of what their drinks were called. Of the 3, none of them included the garnishes that were outlined in the menu, and one drink was completely wrong. We were allowed to keep it and had it replaced at no cost at least, but even the replacement did not have the correct garnish per the menu. I'm praying this place didn't sell out and it's just in some strange transition period between seasons but I won't be returning to check until some time after the new year and these awful drinks are gone. For now, go to Nora's.

True to the name, they hold one of Boulder's first liquor licenses. Inside is a maze of sorts, as you wander through different rooms offering different vibes and activities. They have two bars, host comedy nights and live music, various types of seating, and a wonderful happy hour menu that people should know about. Happy hour is from 5-7pm on all days they're open! PENICILLIN ($8) // Dewar's White Label Blended Scotch Whisky, Laphroaig 10 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, ginger cordial, honey, lemon. A penicillin is one of my favorite cocktails; one you don't even find on many cocktail menus. The act they're offering it up, for $8 no less, earns a special place in my heart. MOJITO ($8) // Bacardi Superior Rum, mint, simple syrup, lime. Refreshing on those hot days. Served in a large highball glass, this is an enjoyable sipper. BREADED CALAMARI ($10) // Calabrian chili agrodolce, orange salt, chive. I believe the food comes from the upstairs restaurant, so I wouldn't go out of my way to order this one again. Pieces were inconsistently chewy, dare I say rubbery? However, I was hungry and still chowed down. TRUFFLE FRIES ($6) // Truffle aioli, parsley, Parmesan. These are a winner. Truffley and cheesey, what more can a fella ask for during an inebriated meal? Would order these again in a heartbeat! I liked the casualness of this speakeasy. It makes sense considering they're inside a hotel and people will wander in and out of different spaces. Great place to hideaway or have a date night. Need to check out one of their live music or comedy nights!

Oh gosh... let me start by saying, I hate to leave a two-star review for License No. 1…read more... My husband and I went to the NYE event at License No. 1. We had event tickets for NYE inside the speakeasy as well as the comedy show at 8PM. The comedy show was great- hilarious in fact! I loved the comedians. The service for drinks was very slow and our seats were uncomfortable. Our seats at least had backs on them, the couple next to us had to sit with their back against the wall, which they said was uncomfortable for the duration of the show. After the comedy act, we went in for the NYE experience. The speakeasy is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The furniture, the decor, the mood, all amazing! The line for drinks was asinine. The bar was crowded with what looked like only 2 bartenders working. And the bartenders were making extravagant cocktails that would take more than 5 minutes each to prepare. It was ridiculous! In my opinion, there should have been a set list of drinks to order that would make the line go faster. My husband and I were at License No. 1 from 8PM - 12:30AM and both only had two drinks each because we didn't want to waste our time standing in line. Also, we ordered dinner at 10PM. I ordered a burger with fries and he ordered a Pastrami Sandwich with fries. After an hour went by, I asked about our food order. It turns out they gave it to the wrong table. They told us to wait and they would bring it out shortly. Fast forward, it's now getting close to midnight and time to make the champagne toast. It's around 11:45PM and still no food. I didn't want to be a "Karen" but at this point I was irritated and hungry. I talked to a manager and he said the kitchen was "a mess", all the food order numbers got mixed up, and he seemed surprised we hadn't received our food yet. We finally received our food around 12:15AM. And what was disappointing to me is that I had paid the bill ahead of time when I placed the order, 20% tip included. We left shortly after. I would love to go back to License No. 1 and hopefully have a different experience, where I can leave a 5-star review.
