Mostly great things on our first visit here. bison burger - proper portion for the price and cooked perfectly med rare pastrami sand - 5 stars : I'm pretty picky with pastrami, it was excellent! the marbled rye was 'real' (aka the good stuff) and the pastrami had a nice smoke on it. chicken and waffles - 3 stars : good portion, pretty much the 'standard' stuff here, over cooked the fried chicken bbq platter - 4 stars : proper portion for the price, nice flavor on the meat. Service - 4.5 stars : table servers were fantastic (Mike is a great guy!). Looses half star since the kitchen is pretty slow, 40 mins to get our meal and they were not busy when we got there. We visited Waterloo with a party of six. First time here, but it felt like we got one of the best seats in the house. A long natural wood table on the second floor - indoor seating with a nice evening breeze coming from the windows. The appetizers we shared were all really good and the entrees were solid. Artichoke Dippin - Spinach and Artichoke Dip - the dip was cheesy and seasoned well to go with bread, cucumber slices, and carrot sticks. Big visible pieces of spinach and artichoke. Not Your Average Pickle - Fried Pickles - nice crispy batter but the pickles still had crunch Onion Rings or French Fries? - I thought these were both well fried, but giving it to the onion rings - these were perfect - couldn't have asked for a better one. Crispy Fish Sandwich - reminiscent of a fillet o' fish but with better ingredients. Comes with Thousand Island dipping sauce. Colorado Bison Burger - cooked nicely to medium, good flavor - wish the patty was salted a little more. Fried Okra - standard fried okra item - solid Worth noting - a dish I didn't try, but one of my friends ordered a Steak Street Mac & Cheese and barely touched it - they said the steak was overcooked and significantly under-seasoned. Came here after the Louisville Festival of Lights, what a friendly and fun atmosphere! We loved the balcony upstairs and how well decorated the place is for the holidays. Went with the filet which was cooked perfectly and paired very well with the mashed potatoes and asparagus. I loved the sauce it came with too, one of the better steaks I've had out here. Our server recommended the special cookie and ice cream which I got and was immediately wowed by. Perfect end to the meal. Girlfriend and I stopped by for dinner. I opted for a normal burger, it was great! Cooked exactly the way I wanted it. For my side I picked the mac & cheese. Let me tell you something. If you go anywhere else and order a 'side' of mac & cheese they give you the tiniest ramequin of the side. Waterloo will fill up the rest of your plate with mac & cheese, I was delighted to see a nice portion of mac & cheese. Girlfriend got the Fuego burger and she loved it too. She also got a massive side of fries, so we were both happy. Service was great too. We arrived and were seated within 5 minutes. Multiple people stopped by to make sure we were all taken care of throughout our time there. The inside looks wonderful as well. Guitars and other music/band related things are on the walls. When you first walk in you're greeted with an autograph from Johnny Cash, which is freaking awesome. It has the feel of a Hard Rock Cafe without the Hard Rock cafe. It was at this moment I knew I had to visit Texas before heading back to Vegas. I need to see if all my friends who have been pushing me to go there to find my wife are wrong. I know now I can never deal with the cold, and my house has to be located in a purple or solid red state. I would have been in Texas sooner but their cannabis laws scare the shit out of me. I get hurt too often with extreme sports and avoid opioids. My inner child likes to take a stack of edibles and play in Area 15 too. I'll never get old. Still debating if I should settle down, but no one has been worth it. My journey will take me through Dallas, Midland, and Austin. I can't wait to see friends I haven't seen in ages, and sample as much BBQ and tacos my stomach can handle. I plan on joining Lifetime Fitness too when I'm there to keep off the weight. I'm down 15 pounds as of today, another 10 to break 200. What about @waterloolouisville? I've been here twice now for the brisket sandwich and never skip their fried pickles. Having a conversation with the creator from Texas was icing on the cake. It's the most authentic spot I've found around town and their rooftop deck is perfect for dates and live music when it's not freezing cold. If you're passing through add it to your list. I came for brunch with a friend. I was greeted promptly and the place wasn't too busy. They had a separate brunch menu from their regular menu. I ordered. Their waffle with eggs and chorizo. I was a little disappointed to find a half of a dry waffle was what was presented. The flavor was actually really good but it was overcooked. The eggs I asked to be scrambled with the chorizo. I was thinking it wasn't going to be what I got. It was ok. It didn't taste or look like chorizo to me. The frustrating thing was at the end I was charged extra for chorizo and that was included as one of the choices of the dish and not listed as an extra charge. I absolutely love Waterloo. Despite living in Boulder, this was always my go-to restaurante spot whenever people came to town. They have a rotating menu but something that's always on the menu is their spicy margaritas - which are drinkable but actually spicy, I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like a kick. I've had several of their sandwiches, all of which have been delicious - burgers included. Their sweet potato friends are amazing, sometimes if my meal doesn't come with them (which you can substitute), I'll order a side. The food is good year round, but they have fun rooftop patio seating in the summer months. read more

I really enjoyed this spot. I love the whole ambiance and location. I generally don't care for fried pickles but these were the best I have ever had and the nachos were pretty fantastic. I also love soup and the bowl I had as an appetizer was also excellent. Give me a half gallon of that and I don't even need anything else other than the pickles. The heated patio upstairs is very pleasant and convenient if you worry about indoor seating during Covid (masks required inside and surfaces are disinfected between visits). I also appreciate that the staff is always friendly and has no problem giving us separate checks. I only wish Waterloo would take reservations. Last night I had the Wednesday special, Brisket stuffed avocado, delicious (although the beans that came with it were a little boring). Service was okay, ambiance fine, but the food was another story. I ordered the Waterloo burger which was supposed to be cooked medium per menu unless otherwise specified. I happen to like my burgers medium so that was fine with me. I also asked for extra pickle and onion. My burger came out very well done on a dried out bun, with 3 pickles and 3 onion rings. Price $17.00 My husband ordered this oriental noodle dish $14.00, when they asked what protein he would like with the noodles he said chicken, not even considered they were going to charge another $6.00 on top of the $14.00. So for $20.00 my husband got what looked like a cereal bowl of food (not a full bowl) very little noodles and chicken. He walked out of there still hungry. The amount of food was appropriate for a child serving. Needless to say we will not be back. Go a few doors down to Lulu's BBQ and you'll get a good meal for a good price. I wish I could give 3.5 stars. This place isn't bad, but I did not find it incredible either. I think it is probably wonderful if you're a drinker, but I'm not. The food was just ok. I ordered the turkey BLT, and they were out of turkey. I did not realize when I ordered, but it has a very interesting mayo and personally was not loving the flavor. Last thing about the sandwich, the bread wasn't toasted and was very crumbly. The restaurant itself has a really cool, eclectic vibe. There's a lot to look at. The space is really large and they even have a rooftop patio. The decor was probably my favorite part. The service was not the best, but I always try to be understanding because you never know what is going on behind the scenes. I ordered a coke and it took at least 30 minutes and pretty sure it was sitting at the bar for awhile but the server was just not remembering. It was hard to get condiments or any extras. It could have just been busy, so not trying to be too harsh on the service aspect. I would love to see some fun, non-alcoholic drinks on the menu!! Hmm... this place stumps me. It's by no means bad, but it's not great. Let's start with the positives, and why you may choose this place over others in the area/depending on what your day or night looks like. If you needed a place to grab a beer and a bar appetizer, I'd totally recommend it. The atmosphere is 10 for 10. You can sit inside, out front on the street turned patio or on their rooftop. They've done an excellent job with hiring kind and attentive servers. And, they've never failed on having the best background music playing. Whoever runs their playlist, should get a raise and never be let go. Plus, the onion rings, french fries and jalapeño poppers won't let you down. They will come out crispy, fried and ready to get friendly with some ranch. Now, if you're looking for a meal to write home about, this is not the place. I've had dinner there twice now... each time I've left unimpressed with the meal. There is a chance I may be ordering wrong, so if so, please give me a suggestion on what to try for an entree. I really do want to like this place! This last time we ordered two different burgers from the menu. They both came out under seasoned, drier than a bone, and on standard bland buns. When we got there, we were told that Sundays have a limited menu of only appetizers and burritos. We ended up having wings and a breakfast burrito, which were good, but not what we wanted by any means. I wanted to verify that this is not mentioned anywhere on the website before I left my review. Burritos are listed as a Sunday special, but no mention of the limited menu. While we were there, another two parties left because they didn't know about the special menu. This is an adorable spot with a ton of character and I thoroughly enjoyed the decor. I had the opportunity to try their open face brisket sandwich before they sold out for the day and I will note that the brisket was melt in your mouth level and the sweet potato fries hit just the right spot. I had never heard of Waterloo until a friend recommended it. I have been back several times since then. Their food is fresh and delicious. I have never received poor service despite them being quite busy. Several people came in and left after realizing this was not a breakfast restaurant. So keep in mind: THEY DO NOT SELL BREAKFAST. The warterloo has a very nice roof seating. They have heaters which allowed us to sit outside even that the temperature was in the 50s. I had a jalapeño margarita and 2 steak tacos. The margarita was very hot. I only recommend if you like spicy drinks otherwise they have regular margaritas. I loved it. The tacos were perfect. Wow. Just wow. Came here two hours ago and a server saw us and said, "just don't put it in the walkway." I am including this comment since another review states that they're not accommodating to strollers or families and I completely understand where they're coming from. This was not a friendly welcome and we would never put a stroller in somebody's way of walking. We walked in and there was a gentleman at the host stand. Right when we walked up, he started to walk upstairs, and then he turned around to shout across the restaurant "sit wherever you'd like" but he was right at the hostess stand when we got there, so why did he walk away and then turn around to tell us? Anyways, we grabbed some menus off of the hostess stand ourselves and chose a table. We got ourselves water and sat for 10 minutes without anybody coming to our table to ask if we wanted any drinks or food. We saw a server clean a dirty table and go to the back without acknowledging us. We were the only table inside. There were about four tables on the patio, so not super busy to where nobody could say hi or ask us if we wanted a drink. After those 10 minutes of not being acknowledged, we stood up and walked out. And guess what? Nobody even said anything to us either. Stay away. If you ask anybody in Louisville area, they will tell you the same thing about the service here but we wanted to give it a try, But not again. read more
