This place had SUCH good vibes, I was surprised to find it! It's on the main road in Louisville which is just around the corner from Boulder. I saw it had good ratings online; unfortunately I came on a day my stomach was already bothering me but I wanted to have a look. It's a very low light, date night vibe inside. The barista was super friendly, and I saw online they'd had a very sweet cocktail from a few years back - I asked her about it and she didn't have all the ingredients but offered to make me something similar. I declined because I felt like i shouldn't be drinking with my stomach feeling off, but it's exactly the type of place I like to check out, the menu was cool. My wife and I love finding speakeasy-style bars, especially when traveling. It can be a hit-and-miss quest at times and most are genuinely ok but some turn out to be fairly ordinary. Nora's Speakeasy absolutely falls into the "hit" category. Easily one of our top two or three spots we've ever visited. While relatively easy to find, nevertheless making your way in to Nora's lends that perfect air of intrigue as you make your way from the front door. You still sort of have to "find" it, which was fun. Then once you get to the actual entrance and open the door you are greeted with a perfect ,dark, intimately small space. On this occasion we happened to be the first ones there. We were immediately and warmly greeted by Shannon and invited to find a seat anywhere, quickly presenting us with a complementary aperitif that changes regularly and is crafted in-house. All the seating is cozy - from nice spots for two at tables or booths to more spacious seating for larger groups. All give a feeling of privacy even within the small setting. A very well stocked bar takes up one wall with seating for several people. The cocktails are nothing short of fantastic. Shannon was great in explaining the menu. There is an impressive selection of traditional cocktails alongside great variations of the same called "Nora's Takes". Additionally there is a selection of rotating crafted drinks. I chose the Bullroarer, a fantastic concoction of curry-infused vodka, fresh lime juice and honey ginger; holy smokes! Absolutely delicious. My wife opted for the Soup Season which was also great, with a hint of a Bloody Mary vibe. To close out our libations we chose the traditional Aviation and Penecillin. Wow, again. All the cocktails were wonderfully crafted and presented by Shannon. There is also a small menu for bites to eat if you're inclined. So, overall it's obvious we REALLY loved Nora's Place. It's a perfect blend of cozy and intimate space, dark and a bit mysterious. Service is great - Shannon was so helpful and friendly, checking up periodically while attending to quite a few other patrons. Nora's is very highly recommended. This is a place I would easily frequent if I lived in the area and one I will definitely make a point to revisit next time. Hope it's soon. read more

It's not hard to stay up to date on what happens in Louisville, so I was shocked to find out about this place a year after it opened. I've been to speakeasys that are "hidden" through secret doors or bookcases or something; this one, you legit feel like it can't possibly be right as you proceed down. The space is well done considering they were probably starting from a pretty characterless basement in a new building. There was a loud wedding going on in the event venue upstairs, which was covered up by soundproofing as well as music playing here that was perhaps louder than I might otherwise have expected. I don't think I've ever been to a cocktail bar with an amuse bouche, that's a nice touch and sets up the server as knowledgeable and engaging. In terms of the offerings, I liked the range of classics, creative twists, and seasonals; it took me a long time to decide. The alcohol brands were mostly unspecified, or in some cases, not super impressive, like Gordon's gin...when there are so many local and craft producers that aren't much more expensive, that was surprising to see in a $17 drink. read more

This speakeasy is hidden in the heart of Louisville, and it's a wonderful surprise once you find it. The atmosphere is intimate and stylish with impressive cocktails. It's the perfect place to visit for drinks and a bite with friends or a date before heading to dinner. I enjoyed the Nora's Southside made with tea-infused gin, and my daughter loved her Black Manhattan. Our waitress was friendly and professional, although I was surprised how slow service was considering the place was almost empty when we visited. The drinks weren't made behind the bar, and our nuts took a while to arrive after we got our cocktails. Despite the minor hiccup, we had a wonderful time and will definitively go back! read more

Such a cute little underground speakeasy! Felt very traditional with its entrance, and the food & drinks were amazing! Definitely a speakeasy because we got back in the car after not finding the front door. We called but only a message kind of telling you how to find it. The address number on a door was what threw us off. Door was locked and looked like no lights were on. We drove around the corner and finally saw a door that looked like we could enter. The pic included is what you need to find. Small little intimate bar in the basement that felt like you were downtown. Very intriguing place! Pretty fancy but small, so just bring a date or a couple friends. Drinks are well made that matches the high price and the well-attuned bartender/waiter likes to check into each table like a restaurant. In only 20 minutes, a couple glasses were dropped from other patrons due to the cramped nature of the building and distractions.. So careful of that though, cuz the drinking glasses were nice. Very cool and unexpected little bar! Has a classic upscale cocktail vibe, great place for a romantic date or night out with friends. As others have mentioned, it can be a bit hard to find the door or get in contact with friends inside (once you're underground, the cell service is terrible). wow, what an awesome place in a good old Colorado town. cozy, friendly, beautifully decorated. Simons venue is upstairs, you can rent it for large and small parties. Simon and Nora moved to Colorado in 1962 from Chicago where they grew up. They settled in Aspen with 3 small boys when it was still a small mountain town with no TV and cable radio sun up till sun down. Their descendants opened this place a short while ago. Pictures in Nora's bar tell a small part of their story. Nora loved Martinis and even olives without the Martini. Will definitely go back. read more
