    Chicken Liver Mousse
    Carrie C.

I usually go to their Park Slope location, but I stopped by the Bay Ridge one for a late morning brunch and loved it just as much. The space has that cozy, homey Bay Ridge vibe, feels bright, casual, and unpretentious. Service was friendly and attentive. The food here is inventive yet approachable. My must order is always the chicken liver mousse, hands down one of my favorite things on the menu. It's so smooth, rich, and creamy, honestly legit. I just wish it came with better or at least warm pita to do it justice. I also really like the breakfast sausage skillet, crispy lox potato, and Spanish breakfas, all flavorful, balanced, and perfect for the cozy brunch mood. I tried the Reuben sandwich this time too, flavor was there, but the bread was almost inedibly chewy, kind of a dense rye sourdough situation. It's a solid neighborhood brunch pick overall, but seating is limited, so expect a bit of a wait during prime weekend hours. Still, worth it every time.

I enjoyed the foods here. We ordered to share: Salmon Eggs Benedict Plate, Pastrami Hash and Egg, Pimento cheese and corn bread, Croast. The salmon eggs benefit plate was nice, very savory. The pastrami hash and egg also very savory. The croast was ok - my least favorite. The pimento cheese and corn bread was so delicious - my most favorite! The staff was very friendly & nice. Plenty of seating inside.

We were in the neighborhood and wanted to tried this place on a Sunday afternoon. Ended up waiting for almost an hour. The place is very small and less than 10 tables in side. The food is decent. Nothing stands out much. Chicken liver mousse-not my kind of thing. The liver tasted a bit fishy to me. But my friends like it. 4/10 3 poached eggs skillet-looks better than its taste. Lack some kind of flavor to make it pop. 6/10 Chicken sandwich-flavorful. Fries is a plus. We finished the fries. 7/10 Chicken and waffles-not bad. If they give some syrup on the side, it might make it better. 8/10. If you don't want to wait a long line, don't come here on a Sunday. We stopped by at 1:30PM on Sunday and didn't get seated until almost 2:30PM. There's no waiting area inside so you have to wait outside. It's not worth it to wait in the heat on a summer day. Really.

A common was and continues to be one of my favorite spots in Bay Ridge for breakfast but also for lunch. I normally have breakfast there and the choices are wonderful. The food is beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and Ivan the manager is terrific. I always feel welcomed there. Service is excellent and it's just a nice cozy spot to meet someone for a delicious meal. Highly recommended. Apologies no photos this time.

I'm shocked and appalled I haven't been here sooner! When my husband suggested we come to the Common for breakfast during our stay-cation, I was 1) surprised he picked a place and 2) that none of my friends had already recommended we give this place a try. We did however make the mistake of not making reservations before coming on a Wednesday morning after 10AM and know better for next time. Their menu is very unique with bold flavors and it worth a thorough look over before sitting down. Make the most of your wait time and really read it over, and ask if they are also serving lunch as well, which will further confuse you in your decision-making process. After looking at their pictures here on Yelp, I was firmly decided on their caramel hot latte while my hubby wanted to try their iced pistachio coffee. To me, my caramel latte was a the clear winner when it not only came to presentation, but the TASTE as well! Delicious down to the last sip! I tried to lick the inside of the mug once or twice, but didn't want to further endure the looks my husband was giving me across the table. For the main entree, I decided on their Croast, which is fairly new to their menu. This is a croissant with a poached egg on to, smothered in a cream mushroom sauce - what's not to love?!? This dish was fabulous! The depth of flavor and savoriness far exceeded my expectations of the portion. The portion isn't huge for a reason, and allows you to take in every taste your tastebuds can offer. My husband's breakfast sandwich was simple and yet packed a surprising punch with their bacon jam. This is a sandwich not to sleep on! From the staff to the vibe to the food and their other patrons, this place is a much needed gem; support local and get your breakfast here!

Service 10/10, food 10/10. Every was so fresh and came out quickly, there was a short wait on a Saturday morning but they turn tables at a good rate and we didn't feel rushed at all. Can't wait to come back and try more

Tried this place from a recommendation from my cousin. Staff very friendly and attentive. My brother ordered the croast and I ordered the grilled breakfast naan. Both were very good. Wait was 20 mins so we decided to walk around the neighborhood and they called us when the table was ready. Very good service all around.

Originally, we were going to a diner but the prices were higher than we'd like and upon looking at the menu here, we thought the price was reasonable and the dishes looked good. We had the in a skillet- three poached eggs in sweet chili sauce with onion, potatoes, tomatoes, corn, cotija cheese, sour cream & grilled pita ($17). The description sold me on the dish. I found it to have a great acidic flavor and I think it was just missing a savory salty piece to the dish. I would've ordered a side of something to go with it. I wanted to try the sausage and grits. Upon sitting down, it wasn't on the menu so I had a delicious Croast ($15). it worked really well together. With the first bite I had a zesty acidic arugula, warm croissant, with flavorful mushroom and sauce. The truffle tapenade wasn't really needed or made enough of an impact. We'd definitely come back and try their other dishes. The place is small and gets packed really quickly. We got there shortly after 8 AM on a Sunday and it was already filled with local. I would recommend parties of 1 to a max of 4. It's a great local spot to have a nice hot breakfast.

Came here for the first with some friends per their recommendation many times in the past. Waited for a while it was busy. The place isn't big but it's cozy. We were sat and sometime after approached by our server. Our drinks took longer than expected to come and shortly after the food came. I wasn't blown away, even though I expected to be. The food was just OK. The skillet pancake was undercooked. It felt like something just wasn't right . It's my understanding that the restaurant may have had an off day but overall the experience wasn't good . We did mention it to the staff and they did give us a discount but that didn't change the quality of the food/experience . May or may not be back , haven't decided .

The menu is full of classic bar food with great prices. They do use English muffin buns for the burgers which actually works, easy to get to the beef patty. I liked the char on the burger, gave it that smoky grilled bite that hits, but I asked for medium rare and got medium well, so the temperature was overdone, made it a bit dry and less flavorful than I wanted. The coffee was served alongside dessert, it was rich and the perfect finishing touch to a wonderful meal. While the Filet Mignon was a popular and well loved choice among our group, and the Meatballs were universally raved about for being truly excellent, the real showstopper for me was the Chicken Parmesan. I don't typically order steak, so I was delighted by this choice. The cutlet was impressively sized yet elegantly thin, showcasing the high quality of the chicken. It was served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes, which was such a comforting and delicious pairing. It did remind me of visiting Germany believe it or not like a schnitzel style cutlet but still very italian if that makes any sense. Fort Hamilton Diner is one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of Brooklyn. Every time we walk in,…read morethe place is practically empty, as if the entire neighborhood collectively decided to ignore the best food within a five‑mile radius. I don't know if people think it's too affordable, or if they're intimidated by the concept of flavor, but the fact that this diner isn't packed feels like a social experiment no one told us we were part of. The Food I ordered the focaccia with herb chicken and mozzarella, minus the bacon, plus a mountain of fries and a bowl of chicken soup that could fix childhood trauma. The focaccia was warm and pillowy, but the chicken... the chicken was so juicy and flavorful that I'm convinced they either brine it, braise it, or whisper ancient culinary incantations over it. Whatever the method, it works. And the mozzarella? They didn't sprinkle it. They didn't "add a touch." They deployed it. Easily a third to half a pound of molten dairy glory blanketing the entire sandwich like it was being tucked in for a long winter's nap. The chicken soup was unmistakably homemade -- that collagen-rich broth that clings to your lips like it's trying to sign a lease. Boxed broth could never. Bouillon cubes could never. This was soup with depth, soul, and possibly a moral compass. Meanwhile, the man ordered the gyro platter with curly fries and immediately ascended into a state of bliss normally reserved for people who discover unexpected tax refunds. He inhaled everything except a few curly fries, and considering the portions could feed a family of three, that's both impressive and mildly concerning. The Service One man -- one -- ran the entire front of the house. He greeted people, poured drinks, handled takeout orders, delivered plates, closed checks, and probably mediated international conflicts in the back when no one was looking. The man deserves a raise, a trophy, and possibly a parade. The Value Our total was about $46 for two overflowing plates, a bowl of soup, a soda, and a hot tea. In 2026, that's basically a public service. I've paid more for sandwiches that tasted like printer paper. Final Thoughts Fort Hamilton Diner is a hidden gem, a neighborhood treasure, and frankly, a place that deserves far more foot traffic than it gets. Consistent, delicious, affordable, and run by people who actually care -- it's the kind of diner you want to gatekeep but also want to scream about from the rooftops.

Each dish comes with a house salad, which consists of red cabbage, sauerkraut, cole slaw, beets, shredded carrots, and lettuce. The salad had nice flavors and tasted fresh! I really enjoyed the chicken klopsiki, which is a chicken meatball. The meatball was moist, and the sauce had a nice flavor, like chicken soup. The only downside was that the mashed potatoes had no flavor and tasted like powdered mashed potatoes. I liked the flavor of the Hungarian pancakes, but the ratio of pancake to filling was heavily skewed toward the pancake, which was just fried potato with minimal flavor. Therefore, I would pass on the pancakes and just get the goulash if I decided to return. Service was okay.
