I stopped by this place while waiting for my car to be fixed and left pretty disappointed. The diner itself has a small, diner feel, but unfortunately the experience didn't match the atmosphere. The eggs and potatoes were fine, but everything else fell short. The coffee situation was strange, a small cup comes with only two refills, something I've never seen in a diner before. On top of that, it was hard to even get the attention of the curt waitress. The add-ons were the real insult. A $2 upcharge for cream cheese on a bagel felt excessive, and the sausage was an even bigger letdown. For an extra $9, I was given four very thin links that had been cut in half to make them look like more. The portion was worth maybe a dollar at best, and to make it worse, they tasted like bacon because they were cooked on the same surface. read more

If you're looking for an old school brooklyn neighborhood place this is it. Service is friendly, people that eat here are regulars and the feel of the restaurant is what I miss about the old NYC. I came in and ate at the bar, didn't know what to order and I was told by a nice man sitting at another table that the split pea soup is really good so o ordered that with a side of bread. The soup bowl is huge and the split pea soup was really good! It had slices of ham in it and the bread tasted like it had garlic powder on it so I dipped the bread in the soup and it was really tasty. Perfect lunch for winter and the prices here are good. The food here is so good, it's an absolute shame that is hardly ever open! So far what I have tried has been surprisingly great quality and flavorful. Even the plain drip coffee is fantastic, which I was absolutely not expecting to be that good since diner coffee isn't usually something to write home about. I really loved the burger I had my first time there because it's cooked how you want it, and the fries are amazing. Service is friendly and efficient. My only complaint is that the seating isn't super comfortable, its actually fairly uncomfortable. However, it's not enough to to knock off a star. read more

I'm surprised that I don't come to this place more often. It's conveniently located on Ave U and the food is delicious! Came here with a group of friends and everyone was happy with what they got. The service was excellent as well I got the Texas burger which came with bacon, sautéed onion, chipotle sauce, and the greens. Everything complimented each other very well and this burger was full of flavor. I was so full after and the presentation was excellent as well. In no way was this burger dry The sweet potato fries is an excellent option to get. They are crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. Paired with ketchup or honey mustard, it is perfection. I would opt for this over the regular fries because those weren't as crunchy. Will definitely be coming back here again read more

Although fries typically aren't on a breakfast menu, it's an option here along with any breakfast plate if you're like me and always craving fries over home fries/breakfast potatoes. I was in a breakfast mood so I got a sausage omelette which was very substantial and perfectly cheesy (though cheese costs extra which I didn't notice when ordering but what's an omelette without cheese?) with sausages in every bite. The fries were good but not that impressive - your standard diner fries. My fiancé got sweet potato fries which, in my opinion, were a lot crispier and more impressive. This place is ehh, I do love the amount of cheese they put in the omelette. I wish they spread the chocolate chips around more in the pancakes. The chocolate chips were all in the middle. I don't recommend the milkshake or the hot chocolate float. You couldn't even taste the chocolate in the milkshake and I'm pretty sure for the hot chocolate float its powered. DISCLAIMER: I'm writing this review solely based on my delivery/takeout experience and the items that I ordered. Lunch was on work on the day in question, and I was excited at the prospect of trying out Vinny's again. After perusing the menu, I settled on the Philly Cheese Steak and a medium Orange Juice - which came out to ~15$ total. A positive was that the lunch orders came with a little baggie of pickles and a small cup of pasta salad (mayo base). The sandwich came in an Italian roll format and was about a foot long wrapped in aluminum foil, and unwrapping it was the most exciting part - eating it was a bit underwhelming from there. While navigating the sandwich, I eagerly searched for the melty goo-ey goodness of a true Philly Cheese Steak, but I should have known better since this was NYC. The cheese didn't melt properly and juices were absent, leaving the sandwich dry and dessicating to the mouth. Also missing were the abundance of peppers and onions that normally go with the cheese steak. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience and though filling, it didn't really have much going for it. When I got home, I heated up some soup and dipped the remainder of the sandwich in it for dinner, but the fact that I had to do this to insert some moistness was not a good sign. read more

There's an open kitchen so you can see what's going on which adds to a genuine experience. My wrap was delicious and portions were more than generous. My friend ordered the hungry man combo and it's such a good deal. (Eggs, sausage, potatoes, and pancakes) So you don't have to pick between eggs or pancakes!! Great neighborhood gem. I love the cozy friendly feeling of Vinny's Lunchbox. My husband and I walk to Vinny's for breakfast or lunch on the weekends. Staff is so friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and they've expanded their menu to include some new items. We got to try two of them recently. I had the California burger (very good) and my husband had the chicken and waffles. SO SO GOOD. I almost didn't want to write this review because I don't want it to get too crowded. This 5-star is strictly for their burgers & fries. I haven't tried their breakfast foods except their chocolate pancakes which were ok. But then again, I am a homemade pancake person at heart and I never really was crazy about pancakes in restaurants anyway, so I didn't feel the need to complain about it. The thing that really blows me away every time are their burgers and sweet potato fries! Their sweet potato fries are the most delicious I have ever had. Their burgers are cooked to perfection (I like mine medium-rare, it was cooked perfectly). The cheese was melted on top and it was juicy and delicious. I'll definitely come back for their burgers for sure !!! The chicken and waffles aren't great. I feel like no one who works here actually ate it themselves because if they have, they would change up the way they make it right away. Also, serve with bigger plates. If they ate it themselves, they would know how annoying it is to eat in those tiny plates. The staff was inattentive and lacked general manners expected of any person.
