I have lived in this area for 8 years. Gone through 5+ diners to find something good. Vinnys lunchbox is what every neighborhood diner should be. The food is impeccable. You can depend on the food Always being fresh and delicious. From your typical diner egg breakfast to the creative salmon and asparagus to the variety of burgers offered- never once disappointed. The owner is basically always there over seeing the operation, taking pride in her business. But on the rare occasion she is not, the cooks and waitresses are always on point. I have been wanting to stop by this place for some time, so when I was in the neigborhood and in a pinch for time, I decided to stop in to get some food. I got the Turkey wrap in a wholewheat wrap. I asked for a side of pickles. While they gave the me pickle free of charge I rather be charged and get a whole pickle rather than a quarter devided into halves. Let's start by saying the gloves are not used in that kitchen, and the entire wrap was assembled without gloves. Everything was really manhandled, meaning tomatoes weren't grabbed but the side but in the middle etc. I was already sick by looking at the way they prepaired it. That took of one star. However, the Turkey is not homemade as they claim. It's cold cuts from the store heated on the flat top. Oh boy was it dry! I never ate cardboard like this. As a loyal customer, I am very very DISAPPOINTED with the service I received this morning. I usually get the French toast. Today when I received my French toast, they were raw and soggy. I told my waitress that it was raw. As a former waitress, I would have requested a new batch to be made. But, the waitress MICROWAVED the French toast, placed it on the table and said, "is this better?" Are you kidding me? If you're the owner and are reading this, this type of service is unacceptable and will ruin the reputation of your business. But most importantly, you have lost loyal customers. The food here is great! Decent portions, fresh, quality ingredients. The service is why I stopped coming here. The waitresses don't pay attention, don't ask you if you need anything, you'll always find them hanging out behind the counter. Not once has one of them come over to refill my coffee or give me my bill, unless I actually got up to ask. If you have the patience of a saint then I think you will like this place. I typically go to Vinny's for breakfast/lunch, this was the first time going for dinner. I was VERY surprised! The entire meal was great. For $30, I ate like a king. Pear & Feta cheese salad, skirt steak with a side of veggies, and a flan! The flan was out of this world. Very pleased coming into this luncheonette. Skimmed through the menu for the craving of 5 eggs over easy with bacon and whole wheat toast .Food came in minutes. Food was off my plate instantaneously! Food got much worse over here time. It used to be really great, good taste, large portion, and decent service (when they weren't too busy). Last couple of time going there I would leave with a stomach ache. This made sense as their sanitary rating was recently lowered to a B. Came in to eat breakfast on Christmas Eve with my boyfriend. First, he ordered an iced coffee but i guess our waitress didn't hear well and gave it to him hot. I asked if she could give it to us iced and the waitress took back the hot coffee. I let that slide and figured ok she clearly didn't hear us. Secondly, I ordered sunny side up eggs and recieved a partial of the egg whites uncooked. Also, there was a hair on my food. Lost my appetite after that and didn't finish my meal. Lastly, we asked for the check and was never given it. We counted how many times our waitress walked by us, 18 times, till she atleast acknowledged us to be able to ask for it again. Not sure if the manager was not present which is why everyone was pretty much very laid back and fooling around. Looking for a sit down place that is not Chinese for brunch in this area is super difficult. Vinny's lunch box fit the bill. The food is fair but The price, service and outdoor seating brings it to good. This will most likely be our weekend brunch spot. Food wise, Vinny's is no better than an average diner. Service wise, it was worse than the worst diner. I got chicken and waffles, which was mediocre. With the first bite, I burnt my tongue so I desperately asked for water. They took OVER 5 minutes to get me the water! There was also no soap in the washroom which I pointed out 3 times before they responded. It's a place where the price is cheap and they have regulars so they feel absolutely no need to improve. I came a few times (3-4 different occasions) and the prices are definitely worth the food. I came here with a few friends and they all enjoyed the food saying they would definitely come here again. The portions are huge and very filling though most of us wouldn't be able to finish all. read more

This is a cute little spot on Avenue U. The waitresses are friendly and the food is the great for the price. That being said this place can't handle the rush especially when they open the backyard. Be prepared to wait for at least 30 - 45 minutes for your food and that is insane for a diner. read more

Vinny's is a casual mom and pop shop. The menu had a ton of options, similar to a diner. I ordered a panini with roasted turkey, avocado, bacon, mozzarella cheese and onions... and it was delicious! Portions are huge. I had half for lunch and brought the rest home to eat later. My only complaint is that it was very cold in the restaurant near our window seat and they didn't offer to turn the heat up when I let the staff know. Good little spot with typical American diner food. I usually order takeout instead of dine-in; the wait is on average about 10 minutes which is not too bad. My usual go-to is the Grilled Chicken Texas Panini which is very good but also highly caloric. Some items are better than others, have to try each one and see for yourself.
