If you've ever wondered what happens when a Gen X aesthetic, a weekend brunch setup, and a kitchen with genuine talent collide on 3rd Avenue, allow me to introduce you to The Corner -- a relative newborn in the Bay Ridge restaurant scene, clocking in at about a year and a half old and still too fresh to have earned its official health score badge of honor. (Which, frankly, only added to the intrigue.) This was our first visit -- "our" meaning myself and The Man, who takes brunch as seriously as I do. We walked in to great music, a stylish interior, and that unmistakable "we're new, but we're trying" energy that I personally find charming. We were seated with Jonathan, who deserves a gold star, a raise, and possibly a parade. He was warm, attentive, and the kind of server who makes you feel like you're in good hands. There was also a secondary server/busser who floated around handling drinks and clearing plates -- and who, unintentionally, became the star of a small coffee‑related comedy of errors. I asked for more Splenda. Nothing happened. I asked Jonathan again. Suddenly both coffee cups vanished from the table, only to return as... one fresh coffee. Then more confusion. Then more waiting. It was like watching a caffeinated version of "Who's on First," but with fewer punchlines and more longing for sweetener. Minor, but memorable. Now, onto the food -- which is where The Corner absolutely redeemed itself. My Crème Brûlée French Toast arrived first. Alone. Unaccompanied by bacon or The Man's meal. And because I am a civilized human being who understands dining etiquette -- and because I eat my French toast with my bacon, not as a solo act -- I waited. Conveniently, Pegasus (where we had originally put our name in) called at that exact moment, giving me a timestamp. Twenty‑something minutes later, The Man's Pork Belly Cuban and my side of bacon finally arrived. By the time my French toast finally had its supporting cast (bacon and The Man's meal), it had gone cold. But here's the twist: it was still delicious. The brûléed top was soft rather than crackly, but the flavor was spot‑on, and the crème anglaise pooled on the plate was silky, rich, and perfect for dragging each cube through. The blueberries scattered across the dish were little edible sapphires. The bacon, meanwhile, arrived in two personalities -- half undercooked, half perfect -- so I ate the half that respected me. The Man, meanwhile, fell head‑over‑heels for his Pork Belly Cuban. The fries? Phenomenal. The mysterious green sauce? He practically wanted to write it a love letter. He ate half, declared himself defeated, and we boxed the rest. I ate five of the seven French toast cubes, leaving two behind as a symbolic gesture of restraint. Despite the service hiccups (none of which were Jonathan's fault), the food carried the experience. And honestly, that's what matters most to me: if the kitchen delivers, I'm willing to forgive a few front‑of‑house stumbles -- especially at a young restaurant still finding its rhythm. Final verdict: A solid 4 stars from me. If I could give 4.5, I would. And yes, there will absolutely be a next time -- because any place that can make me overlook cold French toast and Splenda chaos is doing something right.

New Bay ridge spot ( relatively new). Came here for brunch. The hostess welcomed us immediately and we were escorted to our table. The waitress was attentive. The decor is nice and clean cut, white marble blue velvet. I got the signature drink in the cardinal it was similar to a strawberry daiquiri, with a punch. Crab cake for appetizer was average. The creme brûlée French toast stack was amazing tho! Definitely did well on the sweet portion of the brunch.

A nice dinner at The Corner on Monday night. I stopped in just before they closed early because of the blizzard. Cute little spot with an open kitchen area. The food and service was good. I enjoyed the crab cakes, they had very little filler. The French onion soup was good but the broth was a little on the sweet side for me. I would return to try more of the menu when I'm back in the area.

Visited this spot for brunch. Food was mediocre but staff, ambiance, and space were amazing. The interior reminded my whole party and I of a beach resort we stayed at in DR, and the ceiling to floor windows allowed a lot of natural light to pour in. Staff were very patient and accommodating. We had a baby in a carrier with us and they allowed us to sit at the booth so the baby could rest on it too. Our waitress also gave us ample time to decide on our food. Tiramisu pancakes - 4/5 I quite liked the flavor and texture of these pancakes. They were relatively flat and didn't exactly taste like tiramisu but I thought they were pretty solid pancakes overall. My friends weren't too fond of them though. Creme brulee french toast - 4/5 I liked the pancakes more than the french toast, but this was alright. It was very saucy (creme brulee sauce) but like the pancakes, I didn't think the flavor they were advertising really came through. I was expecting some torched sugar bits on the french toast. My friends happened to enjoy the french toast more than the pancakes though. Oscar style eggs benedict - 2/5 I was swayed by the jumbo lump crab but this dish was not it. The flavor and texture are not what you would expect for eggs benedict. I struggled to finish this dish even after giving away the other half to my friends to try. Maybe the crab cake appetizer would've been a better choice. If they offer regular eggs bennies in the future, that also might be a better idea. I think it also didn't help that the presentation was really lacking. I think the other dishes looked great, it was just this one that missed the mark. My friend also ordered this and did not enjoy it either. Crispy chicken and waffle - 3/5 The waffle has scallions in it and I'm not sure if I like that or not. It definitely made the waffle taste more savory, which I guess matches the chicken more. I'll just say that this is no Sweet Chicks. Biscuits & sausage gravy - 4/5 I think this was the best dish that the table ordered. Flavored well and nice texture. Side of fries - 5/5 nothing bad to say about then but they're not like the best fries on earth despite the rating Also, no cake cutting fee here! Nice

Came on a Friday night with 5 friends for a birthday celebration in Bayridge, Brooklyn. Glad we made reservations because it was packed by 7pm, and the waitress followed through on the instructions to put a lit candle on the birthday girl's dessert. The sweetest part was the restaurant comping the sundae free for her! The Corner has an upscale Mediterranean feel to it, and the staff and patrons were all down to earth and laid back. Our waitress, Stephanie was outstanding from recommendations to service. The owner is also friendly and came out to greet us. As far as the food, their menu is seasonal. There was a mix of outstanding and good dishes: Outstanding: - Scallop on cornmeal appetizer special (perfectly cooked and fresh)! - Crab cake appetizer (Generous portion of crab since it was not breaded - the cracker was too hard though) -Broccolini was almost a tempura style - so good! - Banana split sundae - the crumbles they added to it really elevated this comfort dessert Good/Average: - Fried tomato with pineapple toppings (nice summer appetizer. Tomato was not mushy and there was a nice crunch) - Porkchops (nice flavor but some parts were dry) - Steak Frittes -Pistachio crusted chicken salad - Cookie dough soufflé- well made but too sweet for me - Affogato Our table also ordered a bottle of wine and cocktails (yes including their cute bird one but a bit difficult to drink). Overall, we had a great time. A nice place to go celebrate or have a nice date night. Instagram@Jubes111

Everything went well. We were seated immediately for our reservation. We were not thrilled with our table and they moved us immediately to another one which we were very happy with. Our server Anna was very polite and efficient. Also very engaging. Excellent service. Food was beautifully presented & the flavors were great as well. However, their music definitely needs to be improved. Other than that highly recommended and looking forward to coming back.

The Corner is such a fun and delicious spot. I enjoyed it so much the first time that I came back for brunch. On my first visit I had a really great trout special along with delicious crab cakes, and for dessert the tres leches cake was to die for. The drink I ordered, the Cardinal Sin, came in the cutest glass and was just as good as it looked. I returned for brunch and had the crème brûlée French toast which was fantastic. The DJ on Friday night was also a highlight, playing the best music and creating such a great vibe. Overall, I really enjoyed myself and can't wait to come back again.

4.5 I have been meaning to try this place. I run around the neighborhood with a group on Tuesday evenings and passed by The Corner several times recently. Felt excited when my girlfriend suggested to come for our night out. The atmosphere was intimate with a romantic feel. Our server Joe walked us through the menu and were able to accommodate mocktails for a couple of us. For starters, we shared Scallops (so soft and pillowy), onion soup (sweet), crab cake (mild), and samosas (savory). All were tasty. I had the porterhouse porkchop and I must say the apple was the highlight of the dish. The presentation was beautiful, the cooked apple was shaped as a rose. It was something about the sweetness that goes so well with everything on the plate. Oh, and did I mention the chop was moist? I had taste tests around the table: duck confit was savory and tender and the salmon was opaque and juicy. The vibes were nice, the food was good, and our conversations didn't seem to have an end. We decided to chat some more over desserts. We indulged in hot chocolate (sweet, thick, and warming), chocolate souffle (rich and gooey), affogato (luscious and creamy), and ricotta donuts (warm and fluffy). Joe was friendly with a great sense of humor. We shared quick conversations and laughed in between the busy service. Will definitely be back regularly and would love to see Joe around!

Beef bourguignon pot pie

The food matches the service and for sure the food is stellar. Their cocktails are also perfect. I got their version of a whiskey sour, the Black Kettle Sour, which was so good I had to stop myself from chugging it. Their French onion soup was stacked with melty cheese and onion. I ordered the beef bourguignon pot pie which was so tasty. I will say the onion soup filled me up quickly with all the cheese so I had to take my time with the beef. Dessert was the wonderfully light pear panna cotta with oat crumble. Others in my party had the pork, burger, steak frites, and rigatoni plus soufflé and doughnuts. No complaints anywhere. Is the price point higher than average neighboring places? Yes - but it's a thousand times worth it. This is a must go for sure! The service was incredibly attentive. Water was always filled, table was kept clean, and the nicest people everywhere. I look forward to my next meal here!

French Onion Soup!

Went there on a Wednesday evening for dinner, made a reservation for 6:30pm but our previous engagement ended early so we got to the restaurant early (around 5:45pm) and the hostess was nice to let us get seated right away. Bright and spacious seating, and the service was excellent. The cocktails were on point, the French Onion soup was DELICIOUS (and I would go back just for that!) the raw oysters were fresh but there was one that was extremely small and our waitress was able to get us another one for free. Entrees were good, and when we had an issue with one of the dish, the manager quickly took our feedback and fixed it for us. Portion is generous and we didn't even had room for desserts! Overall a nice experience, will come back next time and try the other items on menu.

Chocolate Souffle - with a server pour of delicious cream 'sauce' - wonderful!

Dropped in for a spontaneous dinner at the bar and what a wonderful experience! A very ambitious restaurant for Bay Ridge and I hope more like this open up here. I had the Onion Soup, Steak Tartare, a Chocolate Souffle and a Gin 86 cocktail. All were delicious and Angel at the bar, was well, an angel! All of the staff that I interacted with from the front through were very friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming. Nice layout and lighting - very flattering. Great date spot, great spot for regulars as well. Will definitely be back.

Amazing American Bistro food with a seasonal menu. We had the most delicious dinner there with desserts. It's a destination restaurant so special and delicious with excellent service. The food is comparable to the restaurants I've been to Paris, London, cruises. In fact better!

It is not saying much for a city that really lacks in Mexican cuisine. To say I did not give this restaurant a fair shake is like saying I only went to an ice cream shop and only ordered the cone. I went all out there, which is maybe why I received the service I received, or maybe it is because I sat next to what appeared to be my server's children. Whatever the case, I was treated well here. Onto the food. The Sopa Azteca (their tortilla soup) is a nice change from what I had at a previous Mexican restaurant. I would like the portion to be bigger and more meat in it, but I like the Mexican spices and the variety here. It is quite enjoyable. The Queso Fundido should be called a Queso No Divertido. It was awful to eat, with lousy flavor and texture. This is the second time I have struck out with this appetizer. It is safe to say I am done ordering it in this city. Nobody does it right. The Paella is nice, but at its core has the essence of a nice dish. Some parts are full of tremendous flavor, and some parts are dry and bland. I ate this all out of necessity, and also because once I mixed the bland with the good it actually turned into something quite pleasant. The chicken enchiladas I ordered because it would not be fair to come here and pass up something Tex-Mex as an entree. The chicken is inconsistent, well cooked in some spots, dry in others. The salsa verde has a lot of kick here, but the side salad and charro beans nearly ruin the whole thing. At least the Mexican rice is fluffy and has great flavor. Speaking Spanish to the staff helped curry points in the service department. I like family owned businesses. Everybody was busy and on point. So what if the food does not wow, I have given more, for less. Hence why this is a three star review and not a two star review.
