Disclaimer: I did not pay for my dinner (was part of a very large group with a preset menu) and our group was quite large (around 20 members). Based on the quality of the food I tried, I do think the menu prices were way overpriced (prices would have to be halved for me to think them reasonable). Of the appetizers, I think the short rib tacos were def my favorite. The empanadas confused me (flavors didn't work together; also NONE of us could tell what the meat was) and the chicken tenders were nothing special. Salad was ok; it was fresh but again, nothing special. I'm not sure what steaks we were served, but I found them overcooked. Enjoyed the accompanying potato wedges more than the steak, tbh. They also took a really, really long time to come out (again, maybe their timing would be better with smaller groups but can't recommend them for large events). read more

We were here for a pharmacy dinner recently. The first course was bread and sodas which wasn't anything spectacular. The next course was a salad. I wish it had the dressing mixed in vs drizzled on top. It was also a caesar like salad with olives. The next course we had was brisket tacos, pastrami empanadas, & chicken nuggets. The empanadas were very flavorful and had sauce in the shell. The chicken also tasted good, but a little dry. The next course I ordered was the ribeye. The size of the steak was massive (maybe 16 oz). I got mine medium rare and it was cooked & salted ok. It came with potatoes wedges which were surpringly tastier than the steak. The dessert platter in the end was the best part. There were various desserts and each one was superb, light, & not too rich. My experience: - Valet - Friendly Hostess - Coat Check - Clean Bathrooms Okay now let's get to it! The decor and ambiance is perfect for date night, family dinner and client meetings. The crowd is private as if everyone is literally in their own world. This steakhouse is kosher and prides itself on making everything from scratch in-house. But wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. So you place your order and the journey truly begins. The bread is like nothing I've ever tasted before. It's a perfect mix of a flaky layered biscuit crust with a soft warm interior. The appetizer menu was excellent. Rib tower is a favorite (good for 2 or 1 if you're hungry) & my children adored Sweet Chili Chicken Bites. They always have amazing specials and the way our server, Tatiana, describes them, you are guaranteed to try it. We ordered their glazed ribs which is over a 48 hrs marinated, braised and smoked process. The Tomahawk Rib Eye served with the marrow is out of this world! The desserts, how could we possibly have desserts after such a lavish meal, right? Well...we ordered the shake special and sorbets made in-house. I'm going to go with 3 stars for 2 very important reasons that make a huge difference to me and people like me who enjoy fine dining. I dined at Bordeaux last night for my birthday. Firstly, upon entering we were greeted by a Maitre D and seated right away. The decor is really beautiful and old school. They kept the design from the previous restaurant and it truly does it justice. Our waiter introduced himself, he was really nice young man who knew the menu RE what would be a good dish and was quite attentive. As a side note, while dining it was difficult to track him down. We had to keep asking other waitstaff to call him. We ordered a bunch of apps; Aged Beef Carpaccio, Porcini Dusted Tuna, Pulled Beef Ravioli, Bordeaux Taco, Beef Burger Sliders and a Market Salad. Entrees we ordered the short ribs and the special which was a sous vide medium rare steak with mashed potatoes and courgettes. Every single dish was quite mediocre and really I can't point to a single dish and say damn that blew me away. If you are charging these prices per dish, you better be selling yourself properly. Of everything we tried my favourite, literally the one thing I can point to and say that was good, was the side dish courgettes. You're doing something very wrong if that's my take. Especially coming from someone who has tried the other local kosher fine dining establishments. Now, something else really ticked me off that I was appalled at. So you consider yourself fine dining and pricing above Brooklyn mediums yet between appetizers and entrees I wanted to give my waiter the dirty fork I used for my apps. His response was, keep it. You'll need it for the next course. That is unreasonable and very off putting. A fine dining establishment changes cutlery between courses. On to desserts. We ordered the Deconstructed Smores, Chocolate Peanut Butter Explosion, Mango Shortcake, & another that I can't recall the name. I have always heard raving reports about the desserts here, but again, a real let down. Very underwhelming and tasteless. I was really expecting a WOW! at least one WOW! This steakhouse is one of the best i've been to. Our waiter, Adonis, was attentive and accommodating. The service is prompt and the food was delicious. The prices are on the more pricier side but it's worth the splurge on a special occasion. I had the prime fillet, when i first cut into it i felt it was too dry for a fillet cut but as i got closer to the center the meat was much more tender and juicer. My parents also had the Aged Rib Eye for 2 and loved it as well. Watermelon martini is one of the best cocktails on the menu and finishing off the meal with sorbet is a must! Needed a meaty pick me up before tackling chef Janie's new fall dessert menu! I'm a big fan of this place and so was sadly disappointed when my order of corn beef empinadas, Dino sized bbq short rib and sautéed mushrooms on the side all came out either cold, burnt or lacking in filling. Called our waiter over and explained the unhappiness and immediately he and the manager apologized profusely and instead of deducting a percentage off our bill told us "let start over on your order" So menus were brought and the bad disappointing feelings quickly dissipated and we decided on the 21 day aged rib eye steak, Mashed potatoes instead of the fries and sautéed spinach. The 26 oz was perfect to share and share we did. This steak was utterly melt in your mouth glorious. Cooked to perfection and brought out in all its sizzling glory. The mashed potatoes were addictive and the sautéed spinach were quite good as well. We moved onto dessert and of course couldn't resist and ordered the 4 new items for the season. The begneits were light and fluffy, the monkey bread had the right amount of cinnamon sugar sweetness with the perfect dense chewy bite to the dough, the coconut pana cotta was my least favorite, idk the coconut flavor was a bit much here sadly and the texture wasn't as soft as I was expecting it to be, the peanut butter one was absolutely fantastic but wished the peanut butter "mousse" on top was chilled a bit instead of room temp...regardless, our second chance ordering this night was a hit and I look forward to returning! read more

I ate here a couple of weeks ago with my wife and married children and had a great meal . I especially was impressed with my choice of aged steak and appreciated the roasted garlic cloves. Everything was really upscale and equivalent to the best steak houses anywhere in the world. To top it off . we had the best service and waiter , Darius. He was attentive and helpful ,and by the end of the evening, I considered him a friend. He even took my valet ticket as I was paying ,so that my car would be waiting when I exited. Bordouex is a kosher steakhouse located on Coney Island Ave off Ave P. Came here with the family on a random Tuesday night. Really had no idea what to expect but the restaurant is very nice. You would never know it until you walk through the doors. I like meat but I don't eat too much of it. But when I do it's going to be Steak! So we Started the meal with the pulled beef tacos and they were really, really good. We ordered the 22 day dry aged rib eye steak. The presentation was beautiful and it was cooked to perfection. The steak fries and mushrooms were the perfect side dishes to compliment the steak. For dessert we ordered the bourbon smores and it was by far one of the best parve desserts I have ever had. Excellent place. Atmosphere: Dim lighting, exposed brick, really gives a nice feeling. Music too quiet for my taste. Very comfy chairs, BUT for some reason only half the place has them the others look uncomfortable. Napkins are nice and soft, don't fall off lap. Can't say that for other places! Definitely a big plus in my book. Food: I don't know where the other reviewer eats but prices are definitely high for Brooklyn. Nearly $20 for appetizers and $50 for steaks is definitely high. Especially compared to similar places like loft and t fusion. However, this place feels better. Had their chilli, could use more meat like lemarais. Steak was okay, but it's all personal I think and they just opened up so will give it another try. Alcohol: Great wine list but could use more French bottles by the glass. No house wine like le marais, bummer. Cocktails, nice selection, decent. Service: Beyond excellent. Large amount of staff, very attentive. Our waiter, older guy, was great, funny too. Glass never reached empty. Bar: Nice bar in back, only 6 seats though but decent beer selection but nothing on tap! Unlike basil which has a half dozen beers on tap. Big minus. Overall excellent place with a lot of potential. Need to drop prices a bit and offer some cheaper appetizers, and get beer on tap like basil and le marais. My wife and I came here the other night and were very impressed. The service and attention to detail was great. The food was very tasty and full of flavor. My wife had the pulled brisket taco appetizer and I had the Pastrami empanadas. Both were exquisite. I am not a fan of Pulled Beef, but my wife loved it. The main course was great. Just FYI, the Baby lamb Rack, that my wife had.. was not baby at all! it was huge! and tasted great. I had the steak, can't remember which one, but was perfectly cooked medium. Along with Great wine and attentive service, it was great. Another tip, if you sit next to the drapes it may get a bit cold in the winter, but they were accommodating and turned up the heat and closed more of the drapes. read more

The food at this place is decent nothing to rave about. But God help you if you need to use a bathroom while at this restaurant. I'll make this story short. As I went to use the bathroom the attendant didn't let me use one of the stalls and guided me to use another one, after I went in and saw that the seat had URINE all over it I asked in a very polite way that they should please clean it. You will not believe the answer I got because I didn't believe it my self. The toilet was busy cleaned. ...... to make this story even worse I went to get a manager and he just didn't do anything about it. He and the whole team watched me wipe down the toilet my self. For this to happen in a restaurant that charges top dollar is unheard of. The owner later offered me free desert as an apology. I didn't want anything free but I do and I think most customers expect clean facilities. read more

We went to this restaurant to celebrate a family member's birthday. It's a kosher restaurant. The first courses were quite bad: among other starters, they served something that they called Empanadas - it has no connection to empanadas - the dough was super oily and they had pastrami and a tomato based inside - it was disgusting. In addition to the empanadas, we at the tacos - which were made from over fried dough with very fat meat - this was quite bad as well, but they had nice guacamole and a bit radishes next to it - which was nice. The simple and tasteless bread that they served was served with something that looked like tahini with herbs, but apparently was a mayonnaise based spread, which was quite bad as well. When I asked them for a different spread, they offered olive oil with balsamic vinegar - this was a great idea, but i never received the balsamic vinegar and the olive oil was of very low quality. I see the wine issue in this restaurant as a key to entire experience. It's important to note that some of the main courses on the Bordeaux Steakhouse menu cost as much as $60, which is not cheap. My family wanted to order a Malbec, but surprisingly they didn't have any Malbecs on the menu (which is fine, although there is a lot of Kosher Malbecs out there). As an alternative, a Segal wine was ordered (it wasn't my personal choice). Segal is perceived as one of the worst wine brands in Israel - there are plenty of excellent Kosher wines in the world, and there is no respectful restaurants in Israel that serve Sagal wines. Not only that Segal was on the menu, but they also decided to do a ridiculous ceremony with this mediocre 2014 wine, in order to make sure that it "breaths/opens". That was absolutely redundant in the case of this low quality, 2014 wine. The main courses were not much different than the first courses - the french fries were with strange spices and they were over cooked and dry. A salad that included chicken was served with over cooked and very dry chicken, and the ketchup was of very low quality. Other than that, the selection of the desserts was poor and out of 3 desserts that were ordered, we didn't like any. The service was overall excellent and very attentive, at one point the waiter listened to our conversation and decided to join the discussion (which was about a Ukrainian restaurant in the east village), but other than that he was great and so were the rest of the staff members. Overall, I believe that it's an overpriced restaurant that serves very bad food and misleads its customers. read more

I was there once but I have to say I was very impressed. You walk in there you don't feel like your walking in to your typical Brooklyn restaurant, I felt like I walked in to a high class restaurant in the city. I was there with 2 other people, we first ordered a bunch of appetizers that where all unique and delicious, we than ordered a duck a Steak and 1 other main course there was enough food for easily 6 ppl and was cooked to perfection. The waiter went beyond his job to satisfy us. While we were eating the was a commotion at the table right next to us the next thing we know there is a waiter was on top of a the person sitting right next to us we realized the guy was choking and the waiter was doing heimalach remover on him and after about 30 seconds whatever he was choking on flew out. This waiter saved this mans life and this all happened in a matter of 2 min it happened so quick we didn't even realize he was choking till the commotion started. I was speaking to the waiter after they left and he told me he's been a waiter for 15 yrs and know a lot of his customers from previous restaurants he worked in and he knew this man that was choking for a long time and this was the first time he was ever in such a situation and the person that chocked tried giving him a very large tip and he refused to take it. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and will defiantly be there again. I can't comment on their pricing because I didn't see the bill but I was truly impressed with my experience there. read more

The food was excellent (literally every dish we ordered was great) but more importantly, the service and attention to detail were far beyond anything I've ever seen in a Brooklyn kosher restaurant, and in some cases, better than some of the NYC kosher steakhouses.
