Fettuccine and salmon - decent
Lenny Y.

Had dinner at Gosht. Was excited for new steakhouse and cause they have a kids playspace. What a disappointment. The good: dishes are pretty and basic food execution is there My short rib burger was 1/5 - ton of fat and little flavor The salmon pasta was 4/5 - well done but lacking any finesse Shortrib pasta was 2/5 - just very bland and simple. The bad: food lacks flavor and is very basic (I can cook at home in kitchen). Everything is beyond bland The ugly: prices are insane ($30 burger) and higher than many Manhattan spots, service nonexistent (between ordering and getting the check server nowhere to be found) Also for families w small kids - they do have a small playspace which is really cool to let you eat while kids play. Alas they charge $15 per kid and if we ate for an hour on a weekday that's a lot to pay Would I come back - probably not. Maybe their steaks are better but at these prices I can hit a top restaurant in the city and enjoy a better quality meal with some service.

I came here on a Saturday night recently for dinner. The place met my expectations. Overall, the food was tasty, service was friendly and attentive and the ambiance was pleasant. We ordered burger and fries and the lamb chops, roasted veggies and salad. It was all pretty tasty. The portions were pretty sizeable. The lamb chops were exquisite. We did not try the desserts but definitely will come back to try the rest of the menu. I think Gosht might be the best restaurant in the area, especially, for a date night.

Delicious food! Have been here twice now, the crispy eggplant salad was ordered both visits. Very nice meat, my great aunt loved her lamb chops, the Tom yum soup was excellent and the chicken rice bowl was perfect. The service is attentive. My only complaint is that it is a little expensive, but the quality is high.

Really loved it! The steak was absolutely perfect -- juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The grilled vegetables were fresh, vibrant, and had that nice smoky touch with a natural taste. Beautiful presentation, everything served with care. Special thanks to our waiter Zhenya -- very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made our dinner even more enjoyable. Cozy atmosphere, calm and professional service. A wonderful place where they truly know how to cook and care about quality. I'll definitely be back!

This place was epic!! A must try !! I enjoyed every single piece of food too much ! We went for my brothers birthday and it did not disappoint. Loved it, will definitely come again. We left with our bellies full and smiles on our faces. Thank you to the incredibly kind staff as well. I will be coming back to try their bone marrow. They were out by the time we arrived but I am happy to come again!

First and last visit here. This place gave me a headache and a half because they have a PLAYPEN for children. The children are loud and obnoxious, crying, screaming, etc. I can't believe this establishment ever thought to create this. Kids were running around barefoot (yuck). Steakhouses are classy and elegant and this place was just like a McDonald's with the playpen. We asked to be moved into the patio, Ofcourse it was raining and cold so it wasn't that comfortable but it was quiet. Even the indoor chairs are built weird and uncomfy. Our waiter was VERY nice, George I believe. Food was okay. Their fries are great. We liked the lentil soup. Pasta had little flavor. Lamb was good and steak was okay too. Dessert was eh. Didn't like the lava cake but cheesecake was better. They also charge a service fee.... I wouldn't recommend this place tbh unless you have kids that are not behaved. Or you're okay with sitting in the patio.

I have eaten here twice and have had a great experience both times. So far I've tried their rib eye steak, chicken soup, lamb chops, and the Gosht burger - every item I've tried has been outstanding along with their service. The ambiance is pretty cool too with different seating options like private booths for smaller parties and tables for larger parties as well as covered and heated outdoor seating. Best part of it all is that everything is Halal! Highly recommended!

Third time's NOT the charm. Visited this business three times, and my experiences differed drastically based on service. The first two visits were great. Our waiter Aleksey and his busboy Kamil were absolutely wonderful. Aleksey was one of the best staff members I ever encountered--considerate and genuinely friendly, assertive but not pushy, helpful and accommodating. Warm and approachable, Aleksey had the best attitude you can possibly ask for. The third time was awful. Alsu, our waitress, was clearly very new to the service industry, so our experience was horrendous. She didn't know anything about specials or the menu or the establishment in general. Our order was messed up. We were left without water or any kind of checking in the entire time. The restaurant was empty, save for our table of two, yet, we still got zero attention. The kitchen ran out of half the menu items, including basic condiments, which made no sense. I got up to ask for condiments from the kitchen, and magic, there were condiments! Probably, Gosht is understaffed during the week. Food was tasty, no complaints there. Premium price point for better quality meat, so be prepared to spend more than you would anticipate, especially in the south of Brooklyn. We tasted burgers every time, so can only say positive things about the juiciness and overall composition of offered burgers. The portions aren't too big, so you will be satiated, but not stuffed. Take advantage of a special that's currently running: Monday through Wednesday--buy one $28 Gosht burger, get another one free. Friday night through the weekend, the space fills to the brim, but the tables move quickly, so you'll be able to snag a seat if you don't have reservations. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Meat was so fresh and high quality. Very pricey though. But tasted GREAT! The atmosphere is good as well.

Brighton Beach - one of the great joys of Summer in South Brooklyn. A beautiful sunny summer day on the sand called for spreading out our fins and explore some of the best food little Uzbekistan has to offer - and You can simply not be in the area and miss out on this buzzing Halal gem. Gosht has all the elements poised to be a neighborhood institution. As you stroll your way down the boardwalk - steps away the restaurant draws you in - from gorgeous garden seating for a date and classy meal, to a more laid back yet aesthetic dining experience inside, where it is more family oriented, children friendly and spacious. We kept it simple and went with what was recommended. Bone Marrow, and the Bali - Bay. Bone marrow came out bubbling, w a genius little side of pickled onions. Slight sprinkle of salt and dolloped on to a piece of crostini, this is the juiciest, fattiest bite you will take. Pure umami. We washed it down with the delicious acidity of freshly squeezed half orange half grapefruit juice, which was pure delight. The Bali-Bay was a flavorful perfectly executed dish. The meat was cooked perfectly, not a second overcooked and not a second under. The bed of chickpea salad that the meat comes on was very flavorful. Seasoning on the meat itself is mild but the salad really carries the dish, with flavor notes like fresh parsley and dill and savory tomatoes that tie up this dish perfectly. This is definitely a dish I would order again in a heartbeat. Service was courteous and polite, but waiters are not assigned tables so multiple people will come to your table and be serving you. A little chaotic - and maybe in need of some organizing. We had an absolutely amazing time here and I cannot wait to return and explore the menu more! If you are considering a savory, meat-centric experience in a classy setting, look no further!

We heard amazing reviews about Gosht so we went for a birthday dinner. Let's get a few things out of the way - Location 10/10, service (our server Lia did an amazing job) 10/10, Ambiance (halal AND upscale) 10/10 !!! Now for the food - we ordered Chops - 3/10, Chicken Josper - 8/10, Rob Roy 7/10, New York Burger 10/10. There's a reason they're famous for their new york short rib burger - don't skip out on it!! Everything else was eh and it messed with my family's digestive systems LOL TMI

A 13 mile bike ride and 30 min ferry for what? For the best burger EVER...that's what! I saw this place had an insane halal menu and we planned a whole bike ride around it. We walked into a very modern and clean looking restaurant. The owner was so kind and helped us park our bikes in a safe spot. The service was amazing from start to finish. We got the gosht burger and Rob Roy to stay and a Rob Roy and NY Burger to go (which we haven't eaten yet). Both the burgers we had were excellent. They were definitely my favorite burgers ever, especially the Rob Roy. They give you gloves and wipes since it can get a bit messy and we enjoyed every bit of the mess. We also got the lemonades. We got raspberry and Mango passion fruit both of which were delicious. When the owner heard about our trek over he even gave us a cheesecake on the house. We were not planing on ordering it but after having it I have to say I highly recommend it. It was amazing with some mango kind of topping and berries on the side. We were planning our trip back before we even left.

I am not a burger person, but I really like their burgers. Very fresh, very juicy, the buns are super nice as well. They are quite pricey. Size is also quite small, but it's ok.

Mediocre and overpriced. Food was decent but $30 for a small burger and fries in Brighton is wild.

Red Hook

This place earned its spot at the top of my BBQ list--fast…read more I discovered Hometown Bar-B-Que while in the area for my son's soccer game, and let's just say... that detour turned into a game-changing decision. Sometimes the best finds happen when you're focused on family and stumble into excellence. The food is the real deal. Bold, authentic, and done with discipline. Every bite reflects craftsmanship and pride. No shortcuts. No hype. Just results. The open, spacious layout creates an atmosphere that's relaxed, energetic, and inviting--perfect for unwinding, connecting, and enjoying great food without feeling boxed in. It has that Brooklyn-meets-business-meets-community vibe that works. And the pastrami? Memorable. Elite. The kind of flavor that sticks with you and makes you plan your next visit before you've even left.

Hometown Bar-B-Que (Red Hook, Brooklyn)…read more If you're a BBQ lover in NYC, Hometown Bar-B-Que in Red Hook is an absolute must. This place delivers real smoke, real flavor, and that no-nonsense Texas-style authenticity that's hard to find anywhere else in the city. From the moment you walk into the rustic, warehouse-style space at 454 Van Brunt St, you know you're in for something serious. The smell alone will make you hungry. I ordered the brisket, beef rib, and jerk baby back ribs, and each one was perfect in its own way. The brisket melts in your mouth with that beautiful bark and smoke ring. The beef rib is massive, tender, and full of deep smoky flavor. And the jerk ribs are a killer twist spicy, sweet, and unbelievably juicy. Their sides are no afterthought either--mac and cheese, baked beans, and collards were all on point. The staff is friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and even if there's a line, it moves fast and it's 110% worth the wait. Red Hook might be a little out of the way, but Hometown makes the trip feel like a pilgrimage. This is hands-down one of the best BBQ spots in New York City. I'll definitely be back again (and again). Highly recommend. Five stars all the way.
