Sunset from outdoor deck at Similan on the Bay

Great world Class Restaurant!!! The food is Authentically Thai and the service is authentically Thai. I've traveled extensively world wide. Similan on the Bay is a well kept secret. The menu is expansive, the food is fresh and tasty. The staff is attentive and thought full. The decor is soothing and on Sundays from 5:30 they have Live jazz. And every day there's a sunset. So what else ,,, there's a full bar and outdoor dining weather permitting and the sound of the bay. Similan on the Bay Beach 92nd Street is a must go.

Even if youve never had Thai food, I would definitely recommend trying the masaman curry and pineapple fried rice. We enjoyed the food and experience tremendously. The ambience is calming and the live band on friday was an added pleasant bonus. Clean spacious bathrooms as it should be as well. Cutie was our waiter and he was so attentive and welcoming. If ever in the area-grab a bite or takeout.

Housed in the former Thai Rock location, we were never satisfied with the food at the former - it seemed too bland and not "Thai-enough". So when we heard another thai spot was opening, we were praying that it would be more authentic and save us from driving to Williamsburg/Greenpoint/Manhattan for Thai Food runs. We were so pleasantly surprised with Similan on the Bay!!! Their crying tiger steak was on point; duck curry was crispy and flavorful and their scallop curry with grilled scallops was so much better than the one we had at FishcheeksWilliamsburg ... It was a busy Friday evening with live music (though a bit on the loud side) the staff was very attentive + helped make our night out a success Thank you! We can't wait to go back

Delicious, authentic, friendly service, ambiance on point. Love this place. Took a chance (not liking curry) and tried the curry duck it was delicious I wanted to drink the broth. Pad Thai is my go to the shrimp was amazing. Didn't care for the chicken dumplings. Our server and our greeter were so pleasant. Highly recommend.

Good food service and ambiance. Bartender was very friendly and tentative. Would definitely come back.

The ambiance in this restaurant is peaceful and magical, the view is unique and the inside dining area is equally as beautiful as the outside dining area. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar for a quick meal before the ferry came and we loved it, the bartender was very nice and my drink was so tasty. The food was also really delicious and beautifully prepared. Everyone was very nice and accommodating I can't wait to come back and spend more time at this special gem.

Love this place. I've tried Goong Karee, Pla Lui Suan, Crying Tiger and all of this is Fabulous! Also love the decor, service was great too!

The food is truly amazing. I was in the area and had an intense craving for Thai food that needed to be satiated. The ambiance is awe-inspiring. The restaurant is perched overlooking the ocean, a sight to behold. The staff and owners were exceptionally warm and welcoming. They suggested their specialty dishes, rare gems that are difficult to find at other Thai restaurants. I am genuinely blown away. As a Thai native, this place has won me over and rekindled my love for authentic Thai cuisine. The flavors are reminiscent of home, a true masterpiece. I highly recommend you check it out and experience it for yourself. There are 2 full bars, perfect for those times when you just want to unwind with friends or celebrate special occasions with your loved one. You will not be disappointed.

I was surprised they didn't have chive cakes on the menu. That's always my favorite thing to order for an appetizer and most Thai places. We ordered a mango salad. I asked for them to do it mild, but it was still too spicy for us. We got shrimp pad Thai, which was really yummy. We actually love that. We also ordered the cod in a coconut sauce. That was very delicious. The cod was a very small portion. We also got an order of Massaman beef. that was very good too. If I'm ever in this area again, I would definitely eat here.

If I lived in the area I'd be there a couple of times a month. My friends live some towns over but both said they'd return for sure. The hostess/waitress was very nice, easy to speak with, fully attentive, not obtrusive, and fully knowledgeable about the menu. Two of us had noodles, one had curry. I ordered Pad Thai asking for it to be somewhat spicy and spice was added perfectly for my taste. The curry with mock duck was very spicy. (We all enjoyed it though.) I think the spice was infused in the mock duck. Some folks may want to ask that to be mild. For desert we had the coconut ice cream and all loved it. I asked about it and learned the chef makes it. It's not often I ask to pass my compliments to the chef; this was one time I did with emphasis! We were having an early lunch. I think we were quite lucky to sit so quickly.

For the two of us, we maybe over ordered a bit with a pad see ew, grilled marinated ribeye, and the crab fried rice. I also ordered the tom yum to try, and was pleasantly surprised! Level 3 spicy is not too spicy for the soup, and the flavors were all well balanced. All of the dishes were solid and generously portioned. We ordered the steak medium rare, and it maybe came out to be a little more rare. Regardless, it was still tasty. Prices are super reasonable, service is attentive. Cash & card are accepted. Parking around here is not great, unfortunately.

The waiter gave us time to get settled in before ordering. He was helpful and politely answered our questions. Drinks: We both had the Spicy Tamarind. Jalapeño infused tequila gives it a kick. Not overpowering-just enough heat. Mixed well, a good drink. Appetizers: We had the curry puffs and fried calamari. The curry puffs were fresh, hot and the cucumber/onion vinegar dip complimented it well. The calamari was good-it could have been a little more tender. The sauce it came with was good. Dinner: We both had Drunken noodles (asked for not very spicy). He had shrimp and I had tofu. The shrimp was a good amount and was flavored well. The tofu was too well done for me but still good with the dish. I would definitely come back. Ambiance and food were great!
