We went tonight because we had loved the restaurant under its previous ownership. Unfortunately, the experience was a huge disappointment. While sitting outside at sunset was lovely, the meal itself was one of the worst we've had. The dumplings were bland, the lime branzino was so overpowering that it was inedible, and the curry scallop dish was so salty and peppery that I had to send it back. Even the red wine tasted as though the bottle had been open for a week. The rice was very good, but that alone wasn't enough to save the meal.

Came here for a Birthday Dinner. Overall, we were greeted when we entered. They were accommodating. We got a seat outside, even though it was outside. It was enclosed by the water. They had music playing, a live band, but it was very noisy because the restaurant next-door also had music playing so it was a lot of heavy noise and the music was clashing. That was my only inconvenience at this spot. The parking was very tiny so do not expect a parking in front you'll have to park in the streets. The views were great. The ambience was nice. The workers were very kind. The drinks and food were great. I would definitely return to try new items.

It's a lovely venue inside and out, the hostesses are very welcoming and friendly. The food is good, but we've had better. Cocktails are just ok (they add an extra charge depending on which liquor you choose, but you only see that on the bill) service is polite, but a bit rushed and the music should be somewhat less loud. The best part are the views, great during the warm month.

Went to this establishment when it was Thai rock back in 2013. Hadn't been back since it was ok then. However I will say hands down Similan on on the Bay is 10x better. The customer service is on point. They are friendly, they actually engage with the customers. The decor and ambiance is very nice and the view is aesthetically pleasing. The food is delicious. We had wings for appetizers 7/10, Thai dumplings 8/10, soft shell crabs 10/10. I had the crying tiger 9/10, the grilled branzino was 10/10, the squid is 8/10. The old fashioned cocktail was 9/10. Everything was great. I will be returning again. Probably to host a gathering, that's how pleased I was with the experience.

The place is clean and inviting. The service is fast and pleasant. The food is explained to you without even asking. They ask if you have any allergies because of their ingredients. The food was so fresh, its like they just fished it out the ocean. I live a few blocks away, so i said, let me take a walk. Im happy I did I'll be back.

2nd time here and it's just as better as the first time. Whether you go at night when it's packed or during the day when it's not as busy as the night staff is still great. Met a new bartender and his company was just as delightful. Thinking to go bsbk n doing my bday there. 4th of July baby. Can't wait to go back for dessert.

Great world Class Restaurant!!! The food is Authentically Thai and the service is authentically Thai. I've traveled extensively world wide. Similan on the Bay is a well kept secret. The menu is expansive, the food is fresh and tasty. The staff is attentive and thought full. The decor is soothing and on Sundays from 5:30 they have Live jazz. And every day there's a sunset. So what else ,,, there's a full bar and outdoor dining weather permitting and the sound of the bay. Similan on the Bay Beach 92nd Street is a must go.

Housed in the former Thai Rock location, we were never satisfied with the food at the former - it seemed too bland and not "Thai-enough". So when we heard another thai spot was opening, we were praying that it would be more authentic and save us from driving to Williamsburg/Greenpoint/Manhattan for Thai Food runs. We were so pleasantly surprised with Similan on the Bay!!! Their crying tiger steak was on point; duck curry was crispy and flavorful and their scallop curry with grilled scallops was so much better than the one we had at FishcheeksWilliamsburg ... It was a busy Friday evening with live music (though a bit on the loud side) the staff was very attentive + helped make our night out a success Thank you! We can't wait to go back

Even if youve never had Thai food, I would definitely recommend trying the masaman curry and pineapple fried rice. We enjoyed the food and experience tremendously. The ambience is calming and the live band on friday was an added pleasant bonus. Clean spacious bathrooms as it should be as well. Cutie was our waiter and he was so attentive and welcoming. If ever in the area-grab a bite or takeout.

Delicious, authentic, friendly service, ambiance on point. Love this place. Took a chance (not liking curry) and tried the curry duck it was delicious I wanted to drink the broth. Pad Thai is my go to the shrimp was amazing. Didn't care for the chicken dumplings. Our server and our greeter were so pleasant. Highly recommend.

The food is truly amazing. I was in the area and had an intense craving for Thai food that needed to be satiated. The ambiance is awe-inspiring. The restaurant is perched overlooking the ocean, a sight to behold. The staff and owners were exceptionally warm and welcoming. They suggested their specialty dishes, rare gems that are difficult to find at other Thai restaurants. I am genuinely blown away. As a Thai native, this place has won me over and rekindled my love for authentic Thai cuisine. The flavors are reminiscent of home, a true masterpiece. I highly recommend you check it out and experience it for yourself. There are 2 full bars, perfect for those times when you just want to unwind with friends or celebrate special occasions with your loved one. You will not be disappointed.

The ambiance in this restaurant is peaceful and magical, the view is unique and the inside dining area is equally as beautiful as the outside dining area. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar for a quick meal before the ferry came and we loved it, the bartender was very nice and my drink was so tasty. The food was also really delicious and beautifully prepared. Everyone was very nice and accommodating I can't wait to come back and spend more time at this special gem.

If you're anywhere near Beach 92, a stop at Bungalow Bar is non‑negotiable. For context, it's about a 16‑minute walk from Sayra's, which felt surprisingly long in the heat after we'd already logged a ton of steps. Lyft quickly became the obvious choice. I called ahead because I'd read about long waits for outdoor seating. At 3:30 PM, we lucked out and were seated right away with a gorgeous water view. I can only imagine how competitive those tables get at sunset. The place was buzzing when we arrived -- multiple dining areas, a packed patio, and that lively beach‑day energy. We snagged a table right at the edge, which felt perfect. Everything about the experience hit the right notes. The menu was fun, the vibe was relaxed, and even though the staff was clearly busy, service stayed sharp. I started with the Spicy Watermelon cocktail -- Absolut Tabasco Vodka, watermelon juice, simple syrup, lime -- and it was phenomenal. The other drink was the Bungalow Hugo, essentially a Hugo Spritz--made with Gin and Elderflower Prosecco. For appetizers, we shared the crabcakes (two) and guacamole with chips. The crabcakes could've used a bit more lump crabmeat, but both starters were enjoyable. The guacamole was especially good -- fresh, bright, and paired with ultra‑thin tri‑color chips. For mains, we were craving lobster and ordered the broiled option. We had originally chosen the option topped with crabmeat, but a kitchen mix‑up meant ours arrived plain. We didn't bother sending it back and dove right in. The lobster was about a pound, sweet and well‑cooked, served with hybrid yellow/white corn and a baked potato. Even broiled, a side of melted butter was waiting -- essential. Overall, the experience was memorable: above‑average food, genuinely great drinks, and a view that's hard to beat. Add this to your must‑go list the next time you're in Rockaway.

My daughter and I shared some apps and had a beer or two and some soft drinks . The pretzel was just ok nothing to really rave about . She said they were good maybe just a little heavy on the cheese ? The service was good she was very nice and checked on us a few times .
