It's been a while since we had been to RaKang but we used to enjoy it quite a bit so we were looking forward to our dinner. Our meals were beyond disappointing. For transparency, we did get delivery so it is possible it is not representative of the in house dining experience. First thing we tried was the Larb Gai. It was packaged in a tiny plastic container. So small we thought we had gotten a side salad and that they did not give us the meal. It was so small it fit into a small sized dinner bowl with plenty of room to spare. It consisted of some chopped romaine lettuce (truly a tiny bit) and some painfully dry chicken. The taste was fine. Non-offensive but non-flavorful as well. In addition we had gotten Pad Thai noodles with tofu. Rather than typical noodles what we received was reminiscent of the ramen blocks with the flavor packet. I am not saying the used a flavor packet by the way (although that may have been better). Instead the noodles, which were slathered in a thin watery sauce, seemed to have an odd burnt taste. It was so awful that we actually threw it in the garbage. On a happy note the summer rolls were good so we did eat those. This was a pretty bad experience and represents the last visit I will make to RaKang. So disappointing that a once good restaurant has apparently fallen apart. read more

Being a Thai American I'm always super critical with Thai places. We booked a fun weekend in long beach for my friend's 28th birthday and made reservations here for a party of 10. When we arrived the table was ready for us and we were hungryyyyyy. Everyone ordered an assortment of things but my wife and I split the basil chili red snapper with rice. I felt like I was back in Thailand. The food was amazing. The table barely spoke because everyone was too busy eating. The price was great for the area and the staff was extremely friendly. The interior design was beautiful, one of the few places that actually put effort into decor. I would 100% recommend this restaurant whether you're just visiting or if you live in the area. Slow service. We sat by the window, and I kinda felt like we were forgotten about. We needed refills on water for ages. They never checked on us when we got the food. Just didn't make for a good overall experience ‍ but that's me. The spring rolls were delicious! My daughter loved them too. Perfect for sharing and I felt were a good prince. We got the mee krob- never had it before anywhere so I have nothing to compare to. But 2 shrimp covered in crunchy things. Good flavor but was $9.95. Maybe if the shrimp had been chopped and mixed through it was be better. I won't get ir again. Enjoyed the fried rice. It was good. BUT the tofu I ordered with it was cool even cold. Food is alright. Not the best, but also not the worst however it is the only Thai spot in Long Beach. have eaten there multiple times but was never really wow'ed Service is terrible. I've read some of the other reviews and just don't get it. This may have been the worst Thai food I've ever had. Soup was ok but the Pad See Ew tasted like burnt toast. It wasn't even the right color. Was dry and overcooked, the shrimp wilted and wrinkled (as if shrimp should ever be described that way). Very disappointing and totally overpriced. read more

RaKang is by far my favorite Thai spot anywhere near Long Beach. The service and food are always very consistent and efficient. The pad Thai is always perfectly cooked and the Thai Basil Fried Rice is one of my favorites also. Be sure to ask for some Thai Chili sauce or Peanut Sauce add to you favorite dish! read more

I have a habit of putting off writing reviews . It's too bad I do this because I forget the name of the dishes etc so I can pretty much give only an overall review. My overall review is ....I'll be back sooner rather than later. My bff & I go out once or twice a month for a girls night out. We love Long Beach & based on the other reviews (& a gift card) we headed over to RaKang! The place is right on the strip & it was a nice evening so all the windows were wide open. The interior ceiling is soo beautifully decorated with gold tone lamps which give it a rich & warm feeling! All the food was fresh & amazing & I especially loved the crispy duck salad! Delicious food, always hot when picking up and when you ask them to make it "Thai spicy" they deliver! I live in the west end and don't have high expectations of food, especially Thai or generally Asian food but I have been impressed. In fact, it's gotten better in the past 6 months. Unfortunately had a poor experience ordering take out from here for the first time I ordered the drunken noodles and my girlfriend ordered cashew chicken. My order was greasy and I felt sick after eating. My girlfriends order was completely wrong as it was clearly pork instead of chicken and she doesn't eat pork so she was fairly upset. Finally, the food took over an hour to receive which was a little greater than 30 minutes over the predicted pick up time so I found myself waiting around. Not sure if it was an off day for them but I will not be ordering from here again. read more

This is by far the best Thai food I've ever had & I'm a self proclaimed "food critic". I had the duck noodle soup & all I can say is wow so good! Also the shrimp fried rice. The shrimp spring roll was ok definitely fresh, but the sauce that comes with it is delicious. The Thai Iced was also amazing. The people are so nice as well :) Can't wait to go back! read more

I love this Thai place, I recently discovered it and I'm hooked. I always go for the basil fried rice but i recently ordered the pad-see-u and that too was delicious! This restaurant is in the heart of Long Beach's West End neighborhood and I think one of only two totally Thai restaurants in town. Ra Kang is one of the most beautiful restaurants of any kind anywhere. You can go there on a date or with family, a little dressy or fairly casual. Friendly service. After reading the reviews I expected better. My friends and I arrived 15 minutes late for our 8pm dinner reservation and they didn't have the decency to call us before they gave our table to someone else. Parking there is tough so that's what took so long; we were 3 blocks away. Then it took a while for the waitress to address us, however, after the long initial wait for water the staff continuously filled my cup whenever it became empty. The menus were all old and falling apart. They were also some items on the menu that were crossed off in sharpie; very bizarre. I didn't order drinks with dinner but some of my friends did, only to receive them when our food came out, which took a while I might add. One month later after my initial visit, and I am thoroughly impressed. The wait staff was much better organized and prompt, the food came out very quickly, and all the nuances that I encountered on my first visit during the grand opening had been cleared up. I'd recommend any people who visited the first week or two of their grand opening to give it another shot if they were disappointed the first time. The food was absolutely delicious. The sautéed meat of your choice, ranging from ~$12-15ish with thai basil was excellent. There were a mixture of mushrooms, onions, lots of good quality meat served with a small bowl of white rice. I would highly recommend this dish. 5/5 The shrimp pad thai is also a very signature thai dish which was perfect. 4 high shrimp came with the dish, and you could tell that the ingredients and the shrimp were very fresh. Any thai food newbies should definitely try this dish. I'm very happy with the way the restaurant is handling the crowd, and hope that this service is the same quality on busy weekend nights. My favorite Thai spot in the west end of LB. small portions for the $$ but the pot sticker dumplings will make up for it

1) the food took over an hour and a half to get delivered. 2) I found a long dark hair in my meal-it was absolutely disgusting. When I called to complain, the owner responded by saying "well I don't know what to tell you because my cooks hair is short." Quite frankly, I don't care if your cooks hair is purple, green, long or short. Food was very flavorful. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was served with jasmine rice and Khou gai noddles which was served over a spring mix/lite salad. I love the khou gai noodles and will be back for them. Drinks were also made very good. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake which was ok, could've been a bit better. RaKang is situated on a breezy corner that gets plenty of natural light. With the windows swung open, a pleasant sea breeze greets you. The decor is lovely-- each wall has beautiful decorations. When we went, they had a fun playlist of Thai R&B/funk music on-- amazing finds! The staff were all kind, and it was nice to find a place that still observes COVID-19 safety protocols. Staff and guests wear masks (until guests are eating, of course!), and each table has hand sanitizer available. As far as food goes, we were a bit underwhelmed by the potsticker and spring roll appetizers. However, they were both paired with tasty sauces that made up for it. The sweet and sour chicken entree is delicious! The contrast of firm and soft fruit and vegetables complemented the silky and tender chicken. It was very delicious! read more

Since it's Monday it wasn't hard to get a table. Well it's a rainy day so I guess it will get packed on the weekends and warmer weather. I ordered an appetizer of chicken and beef skewer with spicy plum sauce and it tasted good. Today special was buy one and get one free appetizer so I got a free chicken wing. The main dish was really good. The service was very nice and the interior was very romantic and cozy. I would recommend this place if you are a Thai food lover. read more

Lived in NYC most of my life and will go out of my way for great Thai food. RaKang stands out, especially in Long Beach. Great curry puffs, spring rolls, duck Pad Thai, Red Curry, Green Curry, Basil Fried Rice...nothing I have had lacks taste and I visit or order out again and again (in fact, writing this is making me want to place an order--my wife and kids will be psyched!). Lunch specials are a great deal while dinner is expensive (especially the great appetizers). Best place to eat in LB, no comparison -- and I am a serious foodie and cook Chinese, Thai, and many other cuisines. Very good service from nice hosts. Can take 45-50 minutes, which means to me, from experience, that the food is fresh and has not been made in huge batches and warmed up. RaKang is the real deal if you like Thai food. read more
