I always dine at Cha-ba when visiting Long Beach. The food is absolutely delicious and they make their guest feel welcomed. There are two consistently stand out dishes that I always get when I come here: 1. Thai salad with peanut dressing: the greens, cucumbers, tomatoes and carrots are amazingly fresh. The tofu has just enough crispness to it, and the peanut dressing is outstanding. 2. Curry Puffs: Grounded chicken stuffed with potato, onions and curry powder and served with cucumber sauce. Absolutely scrumptious! Beverage of choice is the Thai iced tea. If you want to dine on delicious Thai food, make Cha-ba your destination. Cha-ba is conveniently located across the L.I.R.R. station. I've been a customer for over 18 years. They opened just after I moved to LB. I've always had a great relationship with their staff and enjoyed their food. I've spent thousands of dollars with them over 18 years and always tip well. A few weeks ago we ordered a $10 appetizer but when it arrived it was hard and dry not crispy or crunchy as advertised and my girlfriend didn't like it at all. So we called the restaurant to let them know and asked if we could get either a credit or replacement for it. The grief I got from the front desk girl, who is probably the manager, was just really awful. Over a number of calls and conversations, she refused to work with us and then told us she didn't want our business anymore and then just hung up me. I was really shocked that they'd treat a good customer this way. In an honorable restaurant, if you don't like something, or if its not cooked to your liking they'll either take it back or make you something else or at least give you credit on your bill. They didn't do or offer any of these and basically killed a good relationship over $10. To me that's shortsighted, petty and cheap and they lost a really good, loyal customer and a lot of potentialfuture business. I wanted to share so others know who they're working with. What a great little gem! My friend and I were walking around looking for a place to eat and we hemmed and hawed about what cuisine we wanted and Thai it was. The place did a fair bit of take out and food delivery traffic as we dined. (Good sign). Our server was wonderful. We only saw her managing all the pieces in the front of the house and she was on it. The food was fresh, the place was warm and cozy, and the service was spot on. We split the steamed dumplings- amazing; each had a bowl of Tom Kha- perfect spice level; and I had drunken noodles with shrimp- nicely cut fat noodles in a thin basil sauce. Terrific. read more

We ordered and the estimated time for delivery was pretty standard (30-45 min), so imagine our surprise when we called an hour after placing the order to be told it hadn't even been picked up yet... and they charge a fee for "using their own driver". Once we called they said the driver was right there and ready to go... however 10 minutes later, we got a call that the food would still take another 15 minutes. We live a 4 minute drive away... never ordering from here again. Worst customer service, I don't care how good other reviews say the food is, no good food is worth this headache. read more

We'd been getting take out from this place for years and years. Last time, spicy wasn't spicy, soup was easily twice as sweet as normal, didn't touch two of the dishes and when I called to ask if the can be re-made (maybe 2 days later- I had shoved them in the fridge and life got busy next day), not only did the person who answered refuse, they also refused to put the manager on the phone. Losing customers who have been loyal over not wanting to make dishes consistent with prior quality/expectations is a pretty dumb business plan. read more

I specifically asked for gluten-free pad. They assured me it was rice noodles. It may have been, but they probably prepared it on a contaminated surface. Gluten-free food must not be mixed with regular food. They should have known this. I got very sick. I will never go to this place again. read more

My husband noticed the place was packed when picking up a pizza next door so the next day we had to try it and this place did not disappoint. Panang curry veggies were crisp, the crab rangoons were delicious and large. The Tom Kha soup was perfectly spicy. This was my first time to this place. I went out to Long Beach to meet my cousin. As we were just walking around we decided we're going to have something to eat .we checked out a few places out there but nothing seem to be of likeness.Then comes Cha ba thai. At first we thought we may not like the food. In any case we decided to go in. Wow wow again.!!!!We were greeted by a beautiful young lady. My cousin had a couple of questions which she quickly answered them and we decided to stay at this place and try it .we have no regrets from A-to-Z was so perfect. These People are serving with class . words cannot describe the ambiance. Now come to the food part. We ordered shrimp with mixed veggies and white rice,Diet Coke with lemon . the lemon came in such a beautiful container. Everything was so tasty freshly prepared. You can tell these ladies have extraordinary skills .They wrote the book on hospitality .When the host brought over the bill she did not just hand it to us she put in a decent tray with some mints and give it to us with both hands. I must say when I go back to Long Beach I am going to go back to this place because I enjoyed very much not only the food but the service etc . Awesome job ladies keep up the good work . Tried this Thai spot for the first time last week and was blown away! The food was made quick and super hot and fresh. I suggest you always pick your pad thai up ASAP because those noodles absorb the sauce and it's wayyyy better when the pad thai is still saucy. Def my new go to pad thai spot when I'm in Long Beach! No drinks just water after a long day in the sun, on the food we gave the Pad Thai & Garlic chicken a try. very good pad thai nice taste to the noodles & not too much of all the extra string beans those things are tasteless never been a fan. Garlic chicken was very tasty comes with rice, good flavor with some veggies... way too many veggies not really fair since u just don't get that much meat. Pad Thai was fine, but the drunken noodles were too salty and tasted like the kinda packaged noodles you pour water and seasoning over and pop in the microwave. Not the best flavors and noodles were a bit over cooked. We got the lava cake and green tea ice cream for dessert. Chocolate cake was fine but the ice creams flavor was pretty lacking. I have been a customer at this Thai place since before 2011 and the quality of the food and the service had declined since then. Now every time I order food there isn't enough protein, mostly just sauce or water and my recent orders just get canceled with no explanation. I call the restaurant and I can hear them pick up and mute the phone. Past orders the delivery driver has no respect for delivery instructions and they bang loudly on the door despite me begging in the instructions for a quiet contactless delivery because I live with a nurse who works the night shift who sleeps during the day. I have remained a loyal customer for over a decade and this is how they treat me even with a 20% tip every single order it's a shame because there is one dish I ordered several times a week from them until they decided to cancel my orders without reason. I will no longer be recommending this restaurant because of these issues as today was the last straw for me. I don't understand how a restaurant can pick up a call and mute a customer 10 times in a row when I'm calling to ask why my order was canceled for reasons unknown. This wasn't the first time this restaurant has done this to me but it is the last time. Spend your money somewhere else, you could get better quality food with MUCH BETTER service elsewhere. read more

Tried Cha-ba Thai Cuisine take out on a Friday night on the way home from work. Called in the order from my car at the train station, was told the order would be ready in 20 to 25 minutes, which happily it was. Ordered Chicken Pad Thai $11.95, Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken $11.95, Spicy Noodle with Shrimp $12.95. For appetizers, an order of Thai Basil Rolls $8.00 and an order of Thai Dumplings. Also, a small Clear Noodle Soup $5.00. The Spicy Noodle was the only dish that had any decent flavor to it, but disappointingly came with only five small to medium shrimp. The Pineapple Fried Rice had a decent amount of chicken that was very dry...and only two (2) pieces of pineapple! The Pad Thai also had very dry chicken, too much fish sauce, bean sprouts as a garnish only instead of being cooked with the noodles and chicken, surprisingly only a small "pinch" of peanuts on top, and was served with a lemon instead of a lime! For the love of God, Stop & Shop is just across the street, so if you ran out of limes why not run over and get some? Finally, the soup was very bland with a small amount of rice noodles, yet large chunks of vegetables that were mostly white onions. There were no add-ins or extras of any kind. I am disappointed in the overall experience as I have been wanting to try Cha-ba Thai Cuisine for some time now. And I am especially disappointed in the very low value received for what was a $60+ meal. Perhaps they are better as a dine-in only restaurant, and maybe one day I will give them another shot and eat there instead of taking out, but I won't be rushing to do that anytime soon. read more

This place is a sweet, little and romantic, yet laid back kind of place to eat. I often get take out, and everything is great! Always timely, (usually only about 15-25 minutes from when I call it in) the staff is very friendly, and the food is fresh and delicious! Im not a man of many words, but just take my word for it, this is great thai food Also it's impossible to find a menu online that isn't old or incomplete (any menu where "soupd" is a category). We ordered Pad Se Ew with chicken which was horrible. It tasted as if it was cooked in old oil leaving the noodles tasting like bad meat with a very bad after taste. We sent it back and requested the pad Thai with chicken which was even worse. The chicken tasted like old meat. Even my three year old niece was like it smells and refused to eat it. They didn't charge for the first entree, only the second. The only good thing here were the appetizers. Ordered the wings with chili sauce which was seasoned and cooked well. The Thai spring rolls and curry puffs were mediocre. Supposedly the curry puffs had chicken in it...didn't taste it at all. But it was done very well- flaky crust, very soft on the inside. Ordered edamame for the table which was good. The TomKa soup was way too salty I couldn't have it- guaranteed headache. Will not be returning. read more

First time ordering from this place and it was fantastic! I was expecting the food to take a while as it showed about a 50 minute wait time but boy was i surprised. It showed up in about 25 minutes! The crispy tofu was great, the sweet rice was delicious and the chicken skewers were tasty. I ordered extra peanut sauce and that was also delicious. Lisa E. and I starting as always with a salad, ordered the Yum Ped Yang ( AKA "Duck Salad"). Here, on return we might stop asking for Thai spicy, because this salad was not incendiary. It was however very well balanced, hitting on all five flavors with just a touch of fire. For a main course, we shared the Vegetable Red Curry. The curry was a little thinner than we are accustomed to, but it was delicious. Here we made good use of the inverted pyramid of rice so that none went to waste. The vegetables were all cooked to crisp tender perfection. Lisa noticed that there was no eggplant in the dish, the reason we chose the red. Visit Date: June 18, 2016 I went to dinner here with hubby, my brother in law, his fiancee, my mother in law, my sister and my mom & dad. I lied to my mom because she's not very adventurous when it comes to eating and I told her they might have chinese food but it was strictly thai. Overall the experience was nice, lots of laughs were had at dinner because my family is crazy and the food was also very good. The atmosphere of the restaurant is classy, casual very nice. But the space of the restaurant is tight. It's a small restaurant squished next to gino's so I don't know if they really can do anything about the tight space. I had the amazing rama with vegetarian duck for dinner. They paired it with white rice. Usually I don't eat rice but I did eat it with the dish because it absorbed the sauce in the dish well. The vegetarian duck looked like real meat and it tasted good, the veggies in the dish were plentiful and cooked well. Best Thai food I've ever had anywhere. The papaya salad there is the best version of that salad I've ever had, they added shredded beets to the salad itself as well as a few hearts of romaine in there, gave a really good balance to the salad as a whole. read more
