We found this restaurant has great food at reasonable prices. The portions were large and the service was very good. Our party of four tried the pear salad with goat cheese and a house salad. Both were quite good. Our main courses were veal parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, and shrimp francese. The portions were large and all the sauces were excellent! I've lived in the neighborhood for two years and kept passing Fontana's, always meaning to try it. I finally went yesterday. Very, very pleased! First, it was 6pm on a Saturday night and there was no wait. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who directed us to sit anywhere. The space was clean, the decor was pretty, and the music (80s pop) was just the right volume and perfect for the ambiance. We inquired about what would be included in the hot antipasto, and the waitress brought the chef out to answer our questions. I was in the mood for eggplant, but I heard him say there would be one piece of eggplant rollatini, so I said, "Oh, only one piece?" And he very kindly offered to include two if we wanted. In the end, we decided to share a large avocado salad and an order of eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti. The portions were more than enough and the chef even went as far as to divide the eggplant/spaghetti entree into two even plates for us. The dish was very, very good, and the salad was chock full of chunky avocado and other yummy mix-ins. It was delicious. I had enough of my meal left over to eat for lunch the next day. When I opened the bag, I noticed that they had packed a fresh piece of italian bread to go along with it! We were extremely impressed by the kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff. Who's hungry? I was..Neighborhood gem. Small, cute establishment. Upon entering, warmly greeted and seated immediately. Upon conversation, our waiter was the owners son Aaron. Such a warm friendly accommodating young man. Very engaging when taking orders and a very dynamic interaction. The food: Started with fried calamari and baked clams both were delicious. Loved the fact the calamari was lightly breaded and not overly fried, paired well with the marinara sauce. Baked clams delicious only drawback and it's because of my preference a bit garlicky but for the garlic lovers you would appreciate. My main dish penna in vodka sauce with shrimp scampi delicious. Well seasoned but for me a bit heavy with the garlic. My reason for 3 star, the shrimp was not deveined. My dining partner had the penne pasta with grill lemon pepper chicken which he absolutely loved. Other dining partner enjoyed her shrimp on marina with a side salad. Salad was fresh and crisp with delicious dressing. Dessert: wasn't the cheesecake I was expecting. It had a spongecake type consistency but it was delicious and we devoured it. Tiramisu, I don't usually partake but there's was such an awesome blend of coffee, moistness, not overly sweet I found my "just one little taste" turned into several little tastes. Lol All in all great experience, definitely recommend and I will return. BTW.. l love the fact I stated my favorite gelato flavors are passionfruit and raspberry which they didn't have.. he actually wrote it down to relay to his Dad. I've ordered from Fontana's in the past and their food is always pretty delicious. Normally I get the penne a la vodka with chicken but this time I decided to be a bit more adventurous and try their Chicken parm hero sandwich and mozzarella sticks. The sandwich came nicely packaged and it's a great size which I was happy about because it lasted me all day lol Taste wise, it was pretty good just needed some more seasoning or flavoring. Something was missing from the chicken, but it wasn't the worst thing. I would rate it a 7.5. The mozzarella sticks were a perfect 10! Hot and crispy and served with sauce. They tasted fresh and delicious. Delivery was great too and I ordered via Grubhub. I would def recommend and would order again. P.S. I've eaten in here as we before Covid and their sangria is to die for! Nice and strong, not weak (I hate weak drinks lol) and their service is great for dine in as well. Enjoy! read more

Ordered here during the Covid-19 pandemic for the first time. I'm trying to do my part by supporting local businesses during the crisis. I've always wanted to try their food and they didn't disappoint. Since this was a take out order , I called the restaurant about three times ( I kid you not!) to find out about the menu items , portion sizes and delivery times. Delivery took 30-40 mins and the food came piping hot , the delivery man was also very courteous. The portion sizes were large and filling for the two of us. My belly was thoroughly pleased and full. The ambiance was nice, the restaurant is nice and clean and decor is very pleasant to look at. The service on point very courteous, patient and friendly and in a timely manner. Food was ok, the best part of meal was appetizers which was the calamari which was delicious along with the hot bread they served. My spaghetti and chicken meatballs, too much sauce and meatballs need some flavor but otherwise it was a decent meal for the price. I would definitely go again just to try something else on the menu. We ordered from Fontana's last night, and this place did not disappointment! My husband got the rice balls app and the fettuccini alfredo, and I got the baked clams app and the money bags pasta. The baked clams were unbelievable and I could probably eat about 3 more of those apps, and the rice balls app was delicious as well and I don't even like rice balls, but these were great. My husband's fettuccini alfredo was very good too, and the only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the money bags pasta was extremely salty and I was unable to eat it, but I am also very sensitive to salt so I may not be the best judge of that. We can't wait to order from here again and to go to the restaurant in person soon. read more

With just a small handful of Italian restaurants left in Brooklyn, I took a friend out for dinner here the other night. We both were never here. We walked in the other night and the place was empty. We were seated immediately. There was a very big take out/pick up delivery stuff happening. Lots of orders were being picked up by direct customers and many delivery services. I ordered the Penne & Broccoli w/garlic and oil. 12.75 I added chicken $ 4.95. I asked that the garlic pieces be a bit on the well done side. My friend ordered the Chicken Marsala with vegetables of the day, 20.95. We shared a small Cesar salad 7.50 The waiter brought bread and butter to the table. The bread was not warm and the butter was frozen. The salad: The Romaine was clearly the packaged variety as it was clearly chopped, rather than being fresh loose leaf Romaine. The lettuce was very fresh. As for the Cesar dressing - It was clearly jarred dressing, maybe a better than average brand, but it was thick and to sharp. My Penne & Broccoli w/garlic and oil plus the added chicken... This disch was absoloutley delicious. The penne retained just that bit of al dente, the broccoli was perfect and the garlic was done exactly as I had asked. The chicken was placed on top of the pasta / broccoli mix, and it had it's own seasoning - which it may not have needed had the chicken been chopped into the salad and the Cesar dressing would have seasoned it nicely. But again, delicious. My dinner companion said his Chicken Marsala was very very good. He said the mixed vegetables were also good - and in deed they did look good. We both agreed, we would go back. We would simply skip the salad. read more
