Checked out Il Posto for lunch on my walk home and loved that they offer a Monday & Wednesday special -- $42 for a three-course meal. To start, they brought out fresh bread for the table, which is always a win and added to that classic Italian restaurant feel. For my appetizer, I chose the Caesar salad, which was delicious and the perfect portion size. For my entrée, I had the pork chop served with potatoes and vegetables. The portion was very generous and filling. The sides gave me a little bit of a school lunch throwback , but with a little Tabasco it came together and I still enjoyed the meal. To finish, I opted for the pistachio ice cream, which was the perfect light and sweet ending after such a filling meal. My waiter was also the bartender, and he was incredibly kind and attentive throughout my visit. The ambiance was cozy and intimate with low lighting, Frank Sinatra classics playing in the background, and a beautiful old-school bar setup. Take it from me, do not judge this place on its first appearance. When I walked in you could probably pass it off as a nursing home dining night, but the food was amazing. I'd definitely recommend the penne alla vodka or the chicken parm, both great choices and can't go wrong with them. The service was good but we waited a bit longer than necessary for our food. To be honest, the interior could use some work but the live music was decent. From a completely honest perspective, this place is great if you want quality italian food and don't care much about anything else other than service, such as the amount of senior citizens you are met with when walking in, even at the bar. read more

I went with a few friends. They took me out for my birthday. We started with a salad special and fried calamari. Both appetizers were delicious. The calamari was tender yet crispy. For my entree I ordered the veal parmigiana butterflied. Again delicious dish . The sides were broccoli and mashed potatoes also excellent. For my desert I had a chocolate cake that was great . Food is ok. Portions small. Prices high. $4.50 per fountain soda and also charged for each refill. When I ordered soup there was not even enough soup to cover a spoon in this very shallow bowl. Maybe just 1/8 inch of soup. They also add in 20% gratuity. 2 people cost $100. read more

I love this restaurant. It's so close to my house which is the biggest plus. And I enjoy the food from this place. They have a lot of good appetizers and my favorite thing on the menu. Is there a lemon sorbet dessert. It's so delicious and I definitely recommend it to anyone who's going there. and this restaurant has changed a lot from the past, I remember going in there and it was really dark and dreary and now it's like bright and open and it's a really nice vibe. I love the change and I love the staff there too so upbeat and fun. I really recommend this place. It's really nice. Was looking for a great Italian restaurant to go to on a Tuesday night, so we decided to check out Il Posto on Avenue U. We were immediately greeted by the bartender Mike when we sat down for a drink. He was so personable, funny and not to mention makes a mean Cosmopolitan. By far the best I've had yet. A bartenders personality can really make or break how much fun it is to be at a bar and Mike lived up to that. When it came time to eat, the food did not disappoint. My veal marsala was delicious and very tender and the sirloin steak was like butter. We will definitely be back on a Tuesday night. read more

We visited on a Sunday night and the restaurant was not crowded so we were seated right away. There was music playing and it was loud but I could still talk to my husband. Food 3/5 I ordered the chicken parm with a side of pasta in tomato sauce. The parm was good but the sauce for the pasta was bland and watery. My husband had the penne a la vodka which was tasty but with a side of spinach which lacked flavor as well. Unfortunately the food was also overpriced. This Italian hideaway is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Canarsie. I've lived in the area for years, heard about Il Posto but could never find it. Boy am I glad I did!! Ambiance: Very cool old Italian feel to it. Intimate feel without a neighboring table being practically on your back. Beautiful interior. Food: Classic Italian fare that tastes like a few Italian grandmas are in the kitchen. Entertainment: If nothing else sells you on this place, the live entertainment on various nights should. Nowhere else in Brooklyn can you get dinner and Broadway level shows at the price of a delicious meal. One caveat, when they have live shows the place is usually packed and service can be a little slow for something as simple as a refill on coffee. But it's worth it! read more

This was a Saturday night and I came here after attending Tequila fest. It was putting me to sleep. The food was okay, shrimp scampi was $30 for mashed potatoes, broccoli, and 6 pieces of shrimp. I had to ask for pasta? Who in their right mind would pay $30 for mashed potatoes, broccoli and 6 pieces of shrimp. Same for my friend's order, $25 for chicken parm but no pasta. Very odd. They didn't charge us extra for the added pasta but that's quite odd. Dont order the fried calamari it's $17 and honestly very basic. Overall the rating is for the overpriced food, sleepy decor... this place would end up in Chef Gordon ramsey's show. Food was okay just way too overpriced! And ambiance was giving.... Even after this place got severely damaged by Hurrican Sandy, the service, food, and overall experience hasn't changed a bit. Thank your meatballs for that! My personal weakness is the fresh ricotta and bread assortment they give you even before you order anything. I can single-handedly engulf the whole thing without you even realizing it; absolutely better than dipping your bread in oil. My other personal weakness is the veal with black olives and mushrooms in this lovely marsala-like sauce. I can't seem to bear to order anything else but that! Went here for a family member's 80th birthday celebration, so there was a pre fixe menu. I ordered the branzino just to try something I'd never had before. went last night with a group of friends bill just under a thousand dollar!, next thing the waiter comes with a different check with a different amount over a thousand dollars saying we owe him more money for the tip. When asked for the correct check receipt that was given us they said there was no other check, thankfully several of us saw the check and knew what it looked like. After looking around it appeared. So if you go we a large number of people make sure you take a picture of the check and verify with others they tried to pull a shady thing to get more tip money from us. I come for the good old fashioned Italian food, as well as a modern spin on some classic dishes, all cooked to your specifications. The portions are a good size. The waiters are very friendly and accommodating. My favorite is Fernando. I try to sit with him as much as possible. He already knows what I like, and he gets it to me as fast as possible. Came here for dinner and I was surprised it was empty. But that didn't stop me from trying a place nearby my significant other's house. We were given a nice little treat as a starter while waiting for our food. They let us try bruschetta and it was really tasty. As appetizer, we tried the stuffed mushrooms and that was the first time I've ever tried stuffed mushrooms with marinara sauce. It was definitely exquisite. As an entree, I had the chicken franchese with linguine. I liked it a lot! It was really good. My significant other ordered the nino's special, it had filet mignon, chicken franchese and veal. He didn't like it very much but I have no complaints with what I ate. The tiramisu was really good! The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Tonight Lamar Peter's show was great as always..BUT the food took so long I filled up on bread. My friends were on their 3rd course and me and my friend were still waiting for the first. Terrible! The servers were respectful though. They don't split the bill and only take credit card from one or 2 people. So be aware of this. Amazing authentic Italian restaurant here in Brooklyn! I was lucky enough to find out about this gem from a local coworker who was born and raised here. I was blown away by the service from first walking in, until the check was delivered after the meal. The food is all fresh, no details were spared to ensure the presentation was delivered for perfection! Immediately upon arrival we were greeted with bruschetta along with warm bread and fresh ricotta that spread like butter.... this might have been the icing on the cake. Moving along to the main course... so many amazing choices! I ended up with the Shrimp Scampi, it was phenomenal. The coworkers had veal and pasta. Honestly, this could not have been more perfect! Not so Italian looking women greeted us and showed us our table. She say us somewhere we asked for another spot but she said you are only two and left us sitting next to the speaker. We first said ok, but then other couples came in and sat exactly where we wanted to sit. I said that's it, its a one star in Yelp. But then came Angelo, with a great service and the food was good. The food= 10/10 We had an amazing time until the end. Fat host with horrible style and really bad glasses came up to our table saying we had to get up. We still had a full bottle of wine left and had been sitting for less than an hour. He forced us to get up and yelled at us on our way out to "give me a bad review I don't give a shit." Never experienced a more unprofessional host in my life. If you decide to dine here, maybe try to avoid the host. Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. This restaurant has seen better days. I came with my family to dine a few days before Easter and had a odd experience. I'm giving this restaurant three instead of two stars because the service was quite good. Everything else though failed to meet expectations. The restaurant did practice social distancing and the staff were wearing face coverings. We were seated near a doorway and delivery men kept coming in an out opening the door to the cold air and making deliveries through the dining room. I have never ever seen such happenings in a restaurant. Typically, deliveries are made through the back door in the kitchen. In this restaurant, the delivery men were coming into the restaurant and walking across the dining hall with their goods. After much comings and goings, one of the servers locked the door so they were no more drafts or entry and exit of delivery men. I can usually tell the caliber of an Italian restaurant by the bread that they serve and this bread although it was warm it was not particularly good bread. Also the butter was rather cold so it broke the bread when trying to spread the butter on the bread. My dinner companions ordered the chicken Parmesan and another chicken dish with mushrooms and asparagus and they enjoyed their meals. I ordered the shrimp parmigiano and was not pleased by the smell of it, indicating that the shrimp may not have been fresh. I know that restaurants are going through a tough time these days and I wish the best for this establishment and hope that they can bring up their culinary skills in the kitchen as well as the experience for the diner, up to where they were in their glory days.
