Catch-o-fish

Back here for the Valentine's Day pre fix. Service was a little slow to start but picked up well. Music and vibe was on point. Everyone was enjoying themselves. The short rib deviled eggs and the soul rolls were SO GOOD. Will be coming back for those. Very flavorful. Lobsta pasta was ok but a little on the oily side.

Clam chowder

Casual atmosphere. Good for big groups. An interesting selection of music is playing on the radio, from country to R&B to rock 'n' roll. $22 CHESAPEAKE CRAB DIP Served with cassava chips was absolutely delicious. So creamy, cheesy and flavorful. Very decadent. 1,000,000 cal. On a salty side, so hydrate well and be aware that you will be drinking a lot of water after this. The plantain chips were light, which was great so that you don't feel guilty for such indulgence. Clam chowder was the night's special so we got that and loved this iteration. It was not like traditional clam chowder, but it was such a flavor bomb that I would return for again and again. Similar spices and seasonings were used in the crab dip. $35 JERK SHORT RIB was a solid dish that could make anyone happy. Very filling. Jerk braised short rib, garlic mashed potatoes , roasted carrots came together in a perfect medley. $36 CURRY RED SNAPPER was the absolute highlight of the night and I would come back for it over and over again. Pan seared whole red snapper, roasted cabbage , black rice finished in a coconut curry sauce. Perfectly crispy skin and delicate fillet were flavor bombs. The curry is on the spicy side so watch out. The cabbage is also spicy. I'm not a huge fan of white fish, but this was masterfully done thanks to all the seasonings. The black rice was superb. Every element of this dish came together like a melody. Huge portion too. Someone ordered a burger and that looked massive and delicious. Definitely will try next time. $10 hot chocolate was the only disappointment of the night. Swiss Miss packet. Skip. I was hoping this would be actual good quality hot chocolate for such price. Should've asked before ordering. Lesson learned. Service was friendly and accommodating. The chefs came out of the kitchen to check on how we were doing and to make sure that we enjoyed the food. That was a nice touch. Great happy hour deals for drinks and oysters. Would return to try other items on the menu.

Chesapeake Crab Dip

Decent spot in Brooklyn for brunch and seafood. The place was not too busy when we got there (around 11am on a Saturday) and hadn't particularly picked up speed when we left, so I personally don't think there is much use in making a reservation. They keep it VERY warm in there, I'll tell you that - but it is much appreciated in the colder winter months. Service was great. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Split a large carafe of Bellini with a friend and wow did that do the job. Very tasty too and just the perfect amount of alcohol for the meal. We started with the Chesapeake crab dip which comes with cassava chips. I do not understand their ratios. A whole lot of dip (which I love, don't get me wrong) served with like, five chips. We did request more and that was an additional charge. The dip and chips were delicious, but I definitely do wish it was served with more chips. For my main, I went with the peaches and cream pancake breakfast. I do wish they had more of that peach topping on the pancakes because it was super tasty. I did also ask for candied bacon, which is always such a treat - but I must confess I did get overwhelmed by it after a while. Outside of the eggs, there weren't any savory elements to the meal, so I didn't love it as much as I wanted, but that is very much a personal problem. All in all, I think this spot is good if you're looking for a chill and solid brunch experience. Can't say it is my favorite place I've been to, but I was not regretful in the slightest when I left.

This was a great place if you love a party vibe for brunch. Bottomless brunch was great. Kept the drinks coming. Server was so sweet. Her name was Prince. She definitely made sure we were taken care of. So did the manager. Food was great.

I had a bad experience at this place last year and I am just getting to talk about it. This was my second visit and I take my friend out for her birthday. It was a Sunday and there was one other party. There was a woman acting as a host and manager who was very short tempered. Even when a coworker let her know we were waiting she seemed bothered. Hopefully she no longer employed there. We ordered the crab cakes and I had the burger as an entree I don't we recall what my friend had as her main and 2 cocktails . What happened was the woman came over and cleared out crab cake appetizers before we finished. Ok we finished the crab cakes but we were picking on the greens on the side. Overall we had oysters crab cakes and a main course. The service was cold . One young man assisted me with remoulade sauce and that was sweet . The food was good but it wasn't worth going out there and I was going to give them one more try.

Cornbread waffle w/ shrimp and a lobster tail
Lora R.

I recently revisited Sweet Catch and was disappointed with waffle menu item, as well as the grilled oysters. The fried lobster tail was delicious and well executed when I had it during the first few months of this establishment existence. It has been replaced with fried chicken, but the pieces of chicken are not thoughtfully or skillfully butchered. The oysters were extremely small, and there was a lot of grit which can be very unpleasant. The cornbread and the drinks that I shared with my friend were really good. The backyard space is really cute, but the weight staff seemed a bit disorganized. Hoping that this establishment will review and make changes as necessary.

I came here for with my friend for an event they were having to celebrate their 3 year anniversary. They were serving lite bites and drinks samples. The decor is really nice and chic. I like tge old school shots and the little plants; as well as the hand sanitizer on the table. The meatballs were very tasty, the spring rolls were good, and the chicken n waffel bites were delicious. I ordered the catfish n fries, the catfish was really good: good seasoning and fried well. My friend had the catfish and grits; she said it was really tasty she tore it up. For drinks I had the blacker the berry which I liked very much. I would definitely reccomend this place for dinner, drinks, and brunch. Meeting with friends, a date, or just a good time.

Had a belated Father's Day brunch with my mother and daughter here. I had an early reservation, but ended up arriving before they were open. The hostess was extremely welcoming and allowed me early entry. Someone came over shortly thereafter to take our orders. The place was very nice, decent in size and had music in, but not at a level where you can't hear each other and was appropriate for all age groups. Every employee that passed the table was friendly and courteous and wanted to ensure that we were enjoying our time and meal, which is a nice touch. My mother had shrimp and grits. I ordered eggs, grits and home fries. While my daughter ordered the kid size sliders (it's enough for an adult) and macaroni and cheese that we all shared. The macaroni was great, the home fries and grits were good. I did think the eggs were just so-so. Overall, I had a wonderful time here and would return. Just as FYI-- they do charge an automatic gratuity of 20% if you have more than two people.

Catfish sandwich

The host greeted us warmly with a huge smile and offered us seating options inside and in the enclosed heated patio. We chose the heated patio as the interior was small and the patio had more seating options. The main dining space has nice blue accent walls and bright lighting. The patio had faux green grass carpet and a few white tables- moreso an overflow area without much decor. More people came in over time but it was warm, comfortable and had nice r&b/afrobeat music playing. On my way out I noticed a dj came. The catfish sandwich was delicious- seasoned well with shoestring fries. The shrimp and waffle was tasty but the waffles didn't have the cornmeal texture that I expected since it was cornbread waffles even though it did have a nice, sweet flavor. Shoestring fries weren't my favorite, but the coleslaw topping made it a little messy but still delicious. Would definitely get again.

Sweet Catch. What a phenomenal and delicious experience. The restaurant is a must for your date night or brunch. I'm confident you will appreciate the chic interior and exceptional hospitality. During this amazing brunch, I ordered and thoroughlyy enjoyed the corn waffle with shrimp and chicken. The waffle was filled with flavo,r, with little pieces of corn. The chicken and shrimwereere cooked golden brown and seasoned very well. The crab deviled eggs were to die for. With a touch of Caribbean flair, this meal was sensational. I would highly recommend ytryry Sweet Cat; byy, the brunch DJ was fire.

Made reservations, called to confirm, arrived at 830pm sat at the bar and waited and waited. Left pissed! Backstory we wanted to sit at the bar for a few minutes before we had dinner watch them remove two tables for two people and did not even acknowledge that we made a reservation for 915 and they waited until 930 to acknowledge that we were still waiting, so relax. Do not waste your time going here. They're completely unprofessional and not dignify time..

I came here for dinner with my girl. It was Thursday night and there were maybe 3 other parties dining in. Inside is really cute with lots of abstract artwork around. We were seated immediately and our waitress was really sweet and friendly. The music playing was a vibe. It wasn't too loud and we were able to hold a conversation without having to yell. Everything we tried was pretty delicious. It included the following: House cornbread- 9/10 Maryland crabcake- 8/10 Fried lobster and shrimp on cornbread waffle- 10/10 Crispy Brussels- 7.5/10 I definitely recommend Sweet Catch for their great service and will be back for that fried lobster and shrimp on cornbread waffle!

Peaches and Cream Chicken and Waffles
Ashlea M.

I went to brunch at Sweet Catch a few weeks ago with some friends and enjoyed the ambiance and the food. I ended up ordering the chicken and waffles. For my flavor of waffles I got the peaches and cream. It was very delicious, the server explained that the peach compote was mixed into the batter instead of on the side or on top. I appreciated that tid bit of information because I had originally requested the compote on the side. Overall my meal and drink ( some type rum drink) was good. The chicken was moist and the waffle was fluffy and flavorful. I'd definitely come back and explore more of the menu.

Since it was a birthday celebration, we took our time and stayed a bit longer. Even though we ended up staying past their closing time, they didn't rush us to leave. The menu also says it comes with house special dessert but we never gotten any. For any seafood, it's market price plus they add a 30% processing fee, which is strange to me. For a Chinese restaurant which usually does not charge tax if you pay with cash, they charge tax here whether you pay by card or cash. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious. The items I would recommend the most are iron steak, crab rangoon, blue crab, snow crab legs, and crawfish. The seafood is fresh, and if you love seafood, this AYCE meal is a good value for the variety and amount you get. There is no limit to how much you can order at a time; you can order as many rounds as you'd like. Service: Service is excellent here; staff are friendly and very attentive. The restaurant is kept clean, and the decor is very nice. During the warmer months, there's outdoor seating in Mongolian-style tents on the patio that overlooks Surf Avenue and Luna Park. Couldn't get a dining room seating, but managed to secure counter seats to enjoy the open kitchen concept. Our server Jordan was immensely helpful with his recommendation and service. We decided to follow most of his recommendations and ordered: COLD LOCAL OYSTERS (12): Refreshing and slightly briny. Each oyster was shucked well and made it easy to slurp. It paired very nicely with the vinaigrette and they provided plentiful of the horseradish. I did find these somewhat pricey at 4$ per oysters. CHARGRILLED OYSTERS (6): Notably what they're known for and for darn good reason. These oysters were thicc and flavors came very close to the ones I've tried from NOLA. They were seasoned well with the herbaceous butter concoction. Half a dozen was the perfect amount for us because they were indulgent and meaty. ARCTIC CHAR CRUDO: I could've done without this. This was a bit too rich for my liking. The richness of the aioli + cilantro pesto amplified the fat content of the Arctic Char. Felt like I was swallowing a spoonful of cream and the flavors didn't exactly mesh well. CRAB DIRTY RICE: Loaded with with crab and very easy to share. The dill balanced out the heaviness of the rice and the char bits gave it a very enjoyable texture. I was content with the amount of crab in the dish, but I did wish it added a little more flavor to the dish. MIRLITON SOM TAM: This chayote salad was a fan-favorite. Usually with these salads, I find the seasoning too overpowering or the fruit too ripe, but this salad managed to hit the nail in all categories. The sauce wasn't too spicy or sour, but balanced out the woody flavor profile of the chayote. The fried shallot and cashews added a nice crunch to the dish. BREAD PUDDING: The restaurant offers complimentary bread pudding at the end of the meal and I was looking forward to this the most. The bread pudding was decadent and sweet. I loved how the sweetness of the icing balanced out with hints of cinnamon. Although, I did feel like it needed something like ice cream for it to be the cherry on top. Overall, this is a very cute spot with stellar service and some memorable dishes. Wouldn't find myself here often, but wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area.

On the side, we ordered the fried calamari, which was one of the highlights. The calamari was tender, and the sauce really made the dish. For our main entrées, I had the whole lobster, which unfortunately was overcooked and lacked flavor. My husband ordered the snow crab legs and really enjoyed them. Dessert was the best part of the evening. I had the red velvet cake and he had the key lime pie. Hands down my favorite dish of the night. I'm not sure if the experience was impacted by Restaurant Week, but between the beautiful location and great service, I'm willing to give Nick's Lobster another try, especially during the summer.
