I had high hopes for brunch at The Commons, but unfortunately, the food was just mediocre. None of the dishes really stood out, and the flavors were fairly bland for a brunch spot. Making matters worse, the wait was entirely too long to justify the average meal. On the positive side, the staff was very helpful and gave us great recommendations while we were ordering. Sadly, the excellent service couldn't completely make up for the lackluster food and long delays.
A local brunch spot with great food and cozy atmosphere. Came here on a Saturday-- it was packed but the wait was only 5 minutes. The hostess and waitress was super friendly and got us seated right away. We got the eggs benedict with ham and sausage skillet. Both were very good.
Came here for brunch and arrived around 1120ish AM. All the tables were filled so I put my name down and waited outside. It took about 10-15 minutes for us to get seated and the service was so friendly. There was so many delicious dishes and I decided to go with the lebanese skillet breakfast and a cappuccino. My friend got the pulled pork bowl and we decided to get the pancake to share. The dishes came out pretty quickly and at the same time. It was so hearty and filling and wasn't heavy at all. The pancake also had a great taste and crunch from the skillet. It wasn't sweet at all so it was easier to eat. The portions are perfect! The staff and ambiance are so lovely and I'm looking forward to trying the other dishes.
I usually go to their Park Slope location, but I stopped by the Bay Ridge one for a late morning brunch and loved it just as much. The space has that cozy, homey Bay Ridge vibe, feels bright, casual, and unpretentious. Service was friendly and attentive. The food here is inventive yet approachable. My must order is always the chicken liver mousse, hands down one of my favorite things on the menu. It's so smooth, rich, and creamy, honestly legit. I just wish it came with better or at least warm pita to do it justice. I also really like the breakfast sausage skillet, crispy lox potato, and Spanish breakfas, all flavorful, balanced, and perfect for the cozy brunch mood. I tried the Reuben sandwich this time too, flavor was there, but the bread was almost inedibly chewy, kind of a dense rye sourdough situation. It's a solid neighborhood brunch pick overall, but seating is limited, so expect a bit of a wait during prime weekend hours. Still, worth it every time.
Delicious brunch spot around the bay ridge area! Staff + service was excellent. Limited seating though. A large variety of delicious items to choose from. The lattes were well made & delicious! The skillet pancake was ok. I enjoyed the crispy potato tart with lox, egg and salad & the 3 poached egg w Lebanese spiced sauce, meatballs and potatoes and pita bread - delish.

Home is where the heart is and there is nothing quite like a home cooked meal. I have to say most Bay Ridgians enjoy dining local and in our neighborhood. I love to support neighborhood gems because majority of restaurant owners here, love their clients, establish loyalty through cooking delicious food and provide consistent great customer service. I was in the mood for a " comfort food"breakfast, you know, eggs, avocado, mozzarella, tomato, deliciousness and I found it on the menu simply named "Breakfast Sandwich". Which consists of voila: Mozzarella, avocado, tomato jam, arugula, crispy bacon, dijonaise, sunny side up egg between multigrain toasts. I ordered this sans the bacon ( requested turkey bacon which they do not have). What arrived in my plate was this decadent open faced egg sandwich that looked delectable.. and was!! Let's first talk about the wheat toast: I tasted it naked and it simply melted in my mouth. The ingredients worked well together, perfect synchronicity. I used one half of the toast to sop up any fallen ingredients. Highly recommend! For a drink, I wanted something a bit different, thus, ordered the Mango Mint Peach tea, fruity with a hint of mint. Loved it and went well with the Sammy! There are lovely options besides breakfast sandwiches like quinoa, oatmeal, granola, pancakes, French toast.. breakfast is served all day and lunch is served @noon. I arrived before 12 and was told I can order breakfast or lunch. It has a cozy, intimate vibe which I love.. one where you can dine solo, or do work or read or just enjoy the fabulous food. I will make "The Common" my home away from home. I enjoyed the foods here. We ordered to share: Salmon Eggs Benedict Plate, Pastrami Hash and Egg, Pimento cheese and corn bread, Croast. The salmon eggs benefit plate was nice, very savory. The pastrami hash and egg also very savory. The croast was ok - my least favorite. The pimento cheese and corn bread was so delicious - my most favorite! The staff was very friendly & nice. Plenty of seating inside.
Went to try the brunch at this place it was so delicious!! Got the fish & chip and chicken & waffle !! It is very good!! Worth going there for brunch .. only thing is place is always packed!!
We were in the neighborhood and wanted to tried this place on a Sunday afternoon. Ended up waiting for almost an hour. The place is very small and less than 10 tables in side. The food is decent. Nothing stands out much. Chicken liver mousse-not my kind of thing. The liver tasted a bit fishy to me. But my friends like it. 4/10 3 poached eggs skillet-looks better than its taste. Lack some kind of flavor to make it pop. 6/10 Chicken sandwich-flavorful. Fries is a plus. We finished the fries. 7/10 Chicken and waffles-not bad. If they give some syrup on the side, it might make it better. 8/10. If you don't want to wait a long line, don't come here on a Sunday. We stopped by at 1:30PM on Sunday and didn't get seated until almost 2:30PM. There's no waiting area inside so you have to wait outside. It's not worth it to wait in the heat on a summer day. Really.
A common was and continues to be one of my favorite spots in Bay Ridge for breakfast but also for lunch. I normally have breakfast there and the choices are wonderful. The food is beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and Ivan the manager is terrific. I always feel welcomed there. Service is excellent and it's just a nice cozy spot to meet someone for a delicious meal. Highly recommended. Apologies no photos this time.
I'm shocked and appalled I haven't been here sooner! When my husband suggested we come to the Common for breakfast during our stay-cation, I was 1) surprised he picked a place and 2) that none of my friends had already recommended we give this place a try. We did however make the mistake of not making reservations before coming on a Wednesday morning after 10AM and know better for next time. Their menu is very unique with bold flavors and it worth a thorough look over before sitting down. Make the most of your wait time and really read it over, and ask if they are also serving lunch as well, which will further confuse you in your decision-making process. After looking at their pictures here on Yelp, I was firmly decided on their caramel hot latte while my hubby wanted to try their iced pistachio coffee. To me, my caramel latte was a the clear winner when it not only came to presentation, but the TASTE as well! Delicious down to the last sip! I tried to lick the inside of the mug once or twice, but didn't want to further endure the looks my husband was giving me across the table. For the main entree, I decided on their Croast, which is fairly new to their menu. This is a croissant with a poached egg on to, smothered in a cream mushroom sauce - what's not to love?!? This dish was fabulous! The depth of flavor and savoriness far exceeded my expectations of the portion. The portion isn't huge for a reason, and allows you to take in every taste your tastebuds can offer. My husband's breakfast sandwich was simple and yet packed a surprising punch with their bacon jam. This is a sandwich not to sleep on! From the staff to the vibe to the food and their other patrons, this place is a much needed gem; support local and get your breakfast here!
Service 10/10, food 10/10. Every was so fresh and came out quickly, there was a short wait on a Saturday morning but they turn tables at a good rate and we didn't feel rushed at all. Can't wait to come back and try more

Worth the wait, though it was a long wait time at 10am on a chilly Sunday morning. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. I just love days when my kids randomly orders items on the menu 'cause these are the dishes that tend to surprise me. Surprised dishes of the day: 1. Grilled Breakfast Naan - my favorite, simple toasted Naan with brie cheese, pesto, greens, ripe avocado topped with sunny egg and finished off with a drizzle of honey. 2. Pancake Skillet - thick fluffy cake baked in a cast iron pan and served right out of the oven. Sweet cinnamon crumble with condensed milk was the perfect touch. Ordered this to share for the table. Other plates we ordered were just as good, need to also try their pistachio latte! Recommend this cozy spot to locals, and to those who are willing to travel for a good cup of Joe like myself. read more
Coming here was a pleasant reminder of what good food and service is like., I would hands down come here again. We stopped by on New Year's Eve, a little after 9am and most of the tables were taken; I think there were 4 four tops and 3 two tops. Of you have a kiddo, I did see a high chair. I love that they offer lunch at breakfast! I don't get to go out for dinner anymore because my toddler would have a meltdown and no one needs that at dinner, but it does make it difficult for me to have a nice meal out. We ordered: - Chicken liver mousse; I would order this a million times over. I love chicken liver mousse and this is one of the best I've had. I do wish there were a few more pieces of naan though. - three egg skillet with sausage; I think this was a sleeper hit. Eggs were well cooked and the hash with spinach and mushrooms were solidly flavorful. The sausage on the other hand, was a bit mediocre and nothing special though. - chicken and cheddar stuffed waffle: Chicken was super crunchy (maybe a touch dry), and the waffle was light and crispy on the outside. Downside was that I didn't taste the cheddar. - chicken schnitzel; pretty much the same as the chicken on the waffle and it has the same hash as the skillet. I would absolutely come again as most dishes were at least good, if not amazing. read more
Found this restaurant when looking for a good brunch spot and it didn't disappoint. The parking in the area is really difficult especially on weekend mornings so fellow drivers beware. You will be circling for a while. Weekend brunch always has a wait, but typically not very long, maximum 40 minutes. The food is really delicious and they have an open kitchen concept so you can see your food being made. The interior is small but not claustrophobic small. They have great iced lattes and I always get one whenever I dine in. Their food is prepared well and portioned nicely. I really enjoy coming here with my friends, and my husband and I love coming here for a brunch date every once in a while. We can't wait to bring our young son here when he's old enough. The staff are friendly and kind, they keep the pace of diners moving along and are attentive. You can tell they enjoy their job which is rare in customer facing jobs, speaking from experience. Kudos to this restaurant, it's a great place to eat and seems just as lovely to work there. Highly recommend coming here for brunch, breakfast, and lunch!! They also have a bathroom in the rear of the restaurant, and it was comfortable and spacious enough to use even when I was 9 months pregnant so that's a big bonus! read more

The food is soooooo good! There was about a 20-minute wait where they took your name and phone number to call you when your table is ready. The food was worth the wait! So delicious and filling. The wait staff were really nice and welcoming. The restaurant is pretty small, so they were always close by to help. There is an open kitchen so you can see everything being cooked in real time in front of you, so everything smells amazing! Would definitely visit to try all the other items on the menu read more

The ambience of this restaurant was great! I was in the area and had seen good reviews for this place. The person who served us seemed to be the owner, and he was very nice. The food was out quickly and tasted great. The portions weren't enormous which was honestly fine. I'd recommend this place to anyone who's in the area looking for a quick bite to eat! read more
I finally made it in for a late brunch, I've tried a couple times but since they close at 3:30 I kept missing it. I got a grain bowl with some veggies and sunny side up eggs. I did ask for yogurt on the side to add in because it was a bit dry but once I did that It was perfect. The yogurt that came with the potatoes was delicious and I couldn't get enough. It's definitely the best option for an appetizer or a side to split with a friend. My friend loved her breakfast as well and we'll for sure be back. Came back to try out some of the new menu items and I am blown away. The fried chicken sandwich is delicious. The fried chicken and waffles is also yummy. I also got the yogurt smoothie and it was definitely not sweetened so if you're looking for a healthy drink that's it. Weekend wait times are usually 30 minutes to an hour. Come earlier or later if you want to avoid the wait time. Their hours are 8AM to 3:30PM. read more
I took my friend for her birthday breakfast here last weekend. This place is anything but common. Lol. Very nice menu with very different options than your normal breakfast brunch place. Even though it's only 9 AM we had to leave our name and number and wait for a table it was that busy. Service was great. Food was great with DEF go back to try some more things. read more
Left so so satisfied!!! Our waitress was really attentive to us and kept making sure we had everything we needed. I love the customer service over here they're always so sweet!! The quality of food is delicious never disappointed when I come here. I arrived around 12:23pm and it was not busy at all so that was great! It does get busy in the mornings sometimes but it's such a great spot. I recommend The Common over Pegasus any day . read more

Really enjoyed the food here, portion sizes (All of us had left overs), and the service. Came here on Sunday around 11 ish and we had a 30 min wait for a party of 4. The place isn't that big but it gets busy. We ordered the waffle with chicken (favorite dish), Pastrami Grilled cheese, skillet with Poached eggs and sweet chili sauce (asked for sausage to be added), and chips and dip to share (the dip is some sort of salmon dip, which is interesting, and the chips are homemade chips which are really good). read more

Very cute brunch spot, limited in tables so be sure to wait on the weekends. The skillet was amazing and the chicken and waffle was crispy. We also ordered an Asian Nashville chicken that was so delicious. I wished I had bread or rice to drench into the delicious sauce. Cappuccino is on point. Great food and service. Eggs are fresh. All food is cooked at the time of ordering. The tartar sauce that goes with the fish and chips is delicious. Fries are crispy. Bread on the sandwiches is hearty and I think they make fresh pasta. If not, it tastes like it. Highly recommended. Open for breakfast and lunch. I believe they close at 3 pm. Enjoy! read more

This place is really good and always consistent. I've been here a bunch of times and the food is always yummy no matter what you get. The service is usually pretty great also. The eggs Benny is my go to. The breakfast skillet is really good. The inside out truffle bun is also yummy. You can't really go wrong with anything here. I also love that it's not usually a long wait for this place. read more
The Common is a nice little brunch place in Bay Ridge. We came in at around 11 on a Sunday and was fortunate enough to get seated right away. We got the loaf with avocado butter to share. The bread was deliciously sweet but wished they gave a little more avocado butter spread. The salmon scramble was served with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, picked onions, potatoes, and arugula. The flavors went really well, didnt need extra salt or pepper. The sausage skillet was equally flavorable but they serve it in the same skillet that they cooked everything in so by the end it got quite oily. Overall would recommend this place. It is an open kitchen restaurant though so the nice thing is you can see the food prep right next to you but depending on where you sit you might end up smelling like the kitchen. read more

We were looking for a new breakfast spot to try and I'm so glad we found The Common - it's definitely going to be one of my regulars! The service here is great between the waiter and the hostess. Everyone is super nice, attentive, and organized. We were told that the wait would be around ~35 minutes (the place is super small and has about 3 big tables for parties of 4+), but it ended up being around 10 minutes to our surprise. The food/coffees are also super good! Two of us opted for the iced cappuccinos (not on the menu but they offer to make it for you). The iced cappuccino was strong with great foam. For dishes, we each ordered something different. We tried the crispy potato tart, the skillet with sausage, breakfast nachos, and the skillet with tomato sauce. Everything was super tasty and savory! The crispy potato tart came with lox and the potato was a super crispy hash brown... Loved it and dreaming about it now! The breakfast nachos were also a hit because they came with a sunny side up egg, corn, sour cream, cheese, avocado, and a delicious sausage. Every bite was so tasty. Overall, The Common has a cute vibe to it and I do like the touch of the open kitchen. Definitely recommend! read more

We tried this place for the first time on a Sunday late morning right before the St Patrick's parade rolled in. It was a little busy, the wait was just about 15 minutes. Parking takes a little time to find but there's usually a few spots around the neighborhood. Service is attentive and quick, the waitress was super sweet. She took our orders quickly and I got my delicious pistachio latte within moments. We ordered their waffles and chicken, and skillet eggs with sausage. Probably my favorite chicken waffles anywhere. Warm and spicy peppered chicken, the spices carry onto the waffles and it was just soooo good and extremely filling. The fried chicken came as a cutlet chopped up and fork ready which was a huge plus. I would easily come back and bring people here again and again. read more

One of the few great places that serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The food is fantastic, both visually and and by taste. The staff is attentive and polite. The ambiance is lively. I love this place! I've been here at least three times already and food at The Common is always beyond great. The food is deliciously fresh with amazing various flavors. Their coffee and cappuccino are great. The Chicken Liver Mousse is not only plated like a work of art... it also tastes like one too. It's just wow! I enjoyed the Inside Out Truffle Bun. Had a nice amount of Truffle and the bacon jam hidden under the eggs is a yummy surprise. The Spanish breakfast is also a yummy choice with its nice amount of prosciutto. My son had the Avocado Breakfast Burrito Plate but I asked for the Smokey aioli on the side. He absolutely loved this breakfast burrito! Cheesy soft eggs with avocado and hummus made a great meal. Another great option is the Pastrami Grill Cheese Sandwich. Lots of flavor and enjoyable. Personally I would skip on the pickle jar, we weren't to fond of the taste. However, everything else was and always is super duper delicious! read more

I'm not sure if my tastebuds weren't having it this morning, but I did not have a good experience at The Common. When you walk in, you are automatically standing on top of people eating. We were seated within 10 minutes & the table was wobbling, the latte came 23 minutes after we ordered it ( they only started making it after we mentioned it ) the food was mediocre and very salty. Don't waste your time with the truffle aioli, it's tomato sauce with zero truffle taste. The chef was arguing with the waitress, everything is upside down in there. I gave the 2 stars for the sausage , it was just okay. I also ordered the $4 cup of orange water. (aka their mango mint iced tea) read more
