Thank god for this place! Caro just moved back to Bay Ridge right off Shore Road and we can walk to this spot in 5 minutes. I love their brunch menu which includes a bodacious bologna sandwich with egg and pickles onnit; and the crispy potato tart with smoked salmon is a true culinary masterpiece. Makes smothered and covered Hashbrowns from Waffle House look like smattered and battered roadkill. But my favorite item on the menu that I've tried so far is the Fish Samdwich. Best fish sammy this side of the Brooklyn Bridge. They do not serve alcohol but that's not worth losing a star over. Highly recommended. read more

Delicious brunch! Had to wait about 15 minutes on a Saturday morning, but that's to be expected in a small place. Staff were very nice. We had the skillet brunch options which were very tasty. read more

My go to breakfast spot. Their chicken liver mousse is to die for! I also really enjoy their eggs benny.

I was having trouble finding a place with many vegetarian options for my friend and was about to give up when I stumbled upon the Common on Yelp. I was instantly hooked on the expansive menu with diverse and appealing options. I'd recommend making a reservation since the restaurant is on the smaller side, and very popular. We arrived around noon on a weekday and waited 40 minutes for a table. The kitchen here is open concept so it was a little warm inside. Since we were there around 1PM, we had the option of ordering from both the breakfast and lunch menus. I browsed the options and saw so many good ones: salmon scramble w/ roasted potatoes, pickled onion, and salad, S'more french toast, and a truffle bun with truffle aioli. I loved how there were so many different flavors and seasonings used in each recipe. I ordered a pistachio latte and the Pastrami plate with sunny side up eggs, roasted potatoes, and a side salad. The latte was strong and smooth. The breakfast plate so well balanced, between the fatty, meaty flavor of the pastrami, the lightly cooked potatoes, and the slight sour of the arugula salad with balsamic. It's a great option if you're looking for a filling meal with different components, one that's not too greasy or unhealthy. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back here next time to order a few things to try with friends! read more

I stumbled across this establishment thanks to my google search for Brooklyn brunch spots. I thereafter looked at the Yelp reviews and thought I'd give it a try. When my girlfriend and I arrived we were told the wait would be 11/2 hour for 2. They do only allow four tables to be serviced at a time (no outdoor seating) . They do not take reservations. We had the time so we waited. Thankfully, the wait only turned out to be about 30-35 mins. So glad for that. Ever show up hungry hungry and want to order it all, lol. Well we didn't order it all but we started with a shared plate , The Common Loaf with Avocado butter and rosemary salt. We both agreed that it was very tasty. Then we ended up getting the same dish made different ways. In the Skillet, mine included grilled sausage, mushrooms, spinach , scrambled eggs , cheddar cheese and pita bread. They allowed me to adjust my egg preference and add cheese. Points for that ! The dish was savory and had a Mediterranean flare to me. Because I like savory and sweet when it come to brunch I tried the Apple pie cheese cake. Now, I was expecting like cheesecake cheesecake. This was more of a mousse like crumble. And the apples tasted like peaches to me. It wasn't the best but not horrible. I think I just expected something different. But try it , you may like it. Overall I would go back if in the area and try some other dishes. The service was good, they are CoVid friendly and was a good choice for brunch ! Go - read more

I went here to get my saturday morning brunch. My overall impression is pretty good local spot to have brunch with friends. Price: 5 stars. Fraction of cost compared to Manhattan. Service: 5stars. Better service than many of michelin starred restaurants. New york is notorious for not giving a good customer service right? Food: 2.5 stars. I wouldnt go here just for the food. It was okay. read more

Walking down 3rd avenue, it would be easy to overlook this place. You'd regret that though because the food here is spectacular. The soups I've tried have all been excellent, especially the loaded sweet potato. Their fried chicken sandwich is honestly one of the best I've ever. Their French fries are like superior McDonald's fries (we all know they have the best fast food fries). The pierogis though are my favorite thing here. The creamy mushroom sauce they're in is spectacular and I can't recommend them enough. Don't sleep on the Common. read more

Everything was five stars worthy. We had four people in our party with varied tastes and everyone was very happy with their selected dishes. The food was fresh, inventive and beautifully plated. Coffees were good and pretty and I loved my mango mint iced tea. Service was quick and with the smile. Totally worth looking for the parking (which was surprisingly quick!) and a short wait! This place is my go to brunch spot with friends and family! The chefs are very attentive when it comes to preparing food for someone with food allergies! They use all very fresh ingredients and use only the best! For example, a side salad would have arugula not iceberg! Wonderful experience every time I visit! They have a dish I'm obsessed with called, Fried Cauliflower in a peanut sesame sauce. (At least that's what I have been calling it! Yum! ) They are very attentive and caring and provide hand sanitizer on each table, now during this pandemic. I always tip 25-35% now. Remember these people are risking their lives to serve us! Be respectful and generous when dining out! read more

Came here with a group of on a Sunday, around 11 ish. Had to put our names down and waited maybe 30 mins. The spot is small and very popular, so it was basically full the whole time we were there. The service here was great. I can't remember what my friends ordered, but everyone was happy with their food. I think one of the orders we had was the chicken and waffles, which was the favorite. I ordered the Pastrami Grilled Cheese, which wasn't bad, the taste is good although I thought the Pastrami can be more moist. I also don't like runny eggs, so I made sure to tell them to cook the egg all the way. But I will 100% come back and try other things on the menu read more

I was trying to go to a different place (a coffee shop) and the only place to park was in front of the Common which was completely packed. Intrigued, I go inside and start seeing what people were eating and looking at the menu. I thought the grits and sausage looked good. I ordered that and a cappuccino from a super-friendly-busy yet competent member of the staff. Got it to go. After getting to my destination opening and eating three bites, I decided to stop and write a 5-star review on yelp. Done, because food is getting cold. Oh, almost forgot, it is freaking delicious! read more

There will always be a wait because the place is very small, but it will always be worth it. Each time I've been it's been between 20 and 30 minutes, but sometimes a little bit shorter. How do I I've only been here twice now, but I've been really impressed with everything. Even their water is infused with cucumber and citrus. They have an incredibly interesting array of menu items, spanning different cultures, and including savory and sweet options. The grits were delicious, although they came with sausage and not shrimp, which would have been my preference. I really enjoyed the girls breakfast on which was a light breakfast sandwich with cheese, spinach, avocado, and an egg. They offer a pistachio latte. I love this place and went back several times within a few weeks. read more

I could be wrong, but it seems like they have had an ownership change here. Our last couple of visits we've noticed different staff here from what we've encountered in the past. I had been here twice and both was a good experience. My better half took me here and he loves this place. There will be wait time over the weekend, but the wait is worth it. The staff here are nice and pleasant as well. I adore their open kitchen and I love the way they prepare their skillets for some reasons, haha! The first time, I ordered the fried chicken benedict and LOVE it. I am a big fan of benedicts and I like to go a bit crazy (I tried a rib eye benedict in some other brunch spot out of state) so I like their unique take on that. The second time, I got their skillet with three poached eggs, herbs, greek yogurt, and some stew. Pop that poach egg and see the runny yolk blend with the stew. Pick up the pita bread on the side and dip it. It was delightful! In addition, the better half told me to order their hot chocolate (aztec style? It has jumbo marshmallows!!!! OMG!!!!!) and it was one of the best I've tried. I love that it has a little "zing" when drinking it. I felt some mild spice at the back of my throat. I love that it wasn't super sweet and the marshmallow itself makes up for the "sweetness." Anyway, it was good and I enjoyed my meal. I will definitely come back! Parking is quite tough over the weekend. Expect wait time because this place is quite well known. read more

Parking is tough in the area but I got lucky today. Arrived around 1pm on a Sunday and left my name with the hostess. Twas a bit of a wait - 45min on a 30min quote - but boy was it worth it. The wait was also comfortable as they have two benches in the shade on either side of the entrance. I took the time to walk over to Dunkin to use 1 of my 8 free drinks and to figure out what I wanted. The hostess did an amazing job keeping the waiting customers updated every time someone got called in, and even addressed everyone by name. I was flying solo and felt guilty that they gave me a table for 4 all to myself. Offered to have to have the last two people waiting join me but that didn't happen. I ordered the sausage skillet with avocado. While I'm a fun guy, I'm not a fan of mushrooms so I asked to hold the mushrooms. As a courtesy I was offered peppers instead which was a nice customer service touch. The food was banging! Hot, flavorful and well presented. If I had to nitpick, the potatoes in their own didn't have much flavor, but when eaten with every thing else, it was very well balanced. In the crazy expensive brunch game, it was surprisingly only $12. Def coming back here to try the other dishes! read more

The Common OVERALL: 9.2/10 HIGH REVIEW!! This place is not just delicious, but prices are decent and the service is outstanding. The fettuccine was my highlight... But everything was pretty good. The chicken liver thing is really pate and not mousse. Sweet potato fries and the cauliflower would be my second favorite. The only thing that wasn't too good was the sandwich. Service was great and the waitress checked on us constantly and made sure we didn't have any problems. Even brought us an extra egg because they felt like they messed up on one. read more

Good brunch spot in Bay Ridge! My mom and I came here on a weekday morning for brunch and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. We tried the Three Poached Eggs in Tomato Onion and Pepper Stew and the Inside Out Truffle Bun. Both were really good, though I could've done without so much of the truffle aioli on top of the burger. I also ordered the Pistachio Latte, which was good but not the best latte I've had. My only complaint was that service was a little slow because there was only one waitress for 6 tables. Guess they didn't expect it to be so busy on a Thursday morning. read more

Been meaning to try this place since it opened and finally had a chance to. Definitely not disappointed. Came late afternoon on a Sunday and were seated right away. We got lucky because shortly after they told parties that walked in that they were backed up and won't be seating anyone for an hour, which I thought was very responsible, rather than seating people and having them wait a long time for food. Super clean space with an open kitchen. I had the breakfast in a boule and my boyfriend had the pastrami grilled cheese. We both really enjoyed our meals and drinks. The grilled cheese was pretty big and the fried egg comes on top. Wouldn't exactly call it your usually grilled cheese, but quite a bit sandwich. Really enjoyed the breakfast in a boule, like a creative scrambled egg dish. They don't have iced coffee on their menu but they offered an iced latte which was very good, the pear punch my boyfriend really enjoyed as well. Looking forward to coming back to try their lunch/dinner menu! read more

I love coming here for brunch, mainly due to its vicinity. It's a no frills brunch place with a variety of menu items. Not only that, it's very budget friendly and well portioned. Their food is delectable, and staff is very nice. However, the ambiance is a bit lackluster, and the space is so incredibly small. Such a shame. I'd love to see this place in a nicer space, with more room for tables and patrons. A testament to how great their food is, there's often a 20-30 min wait to get a seat inside during their brunch hours. Like I said, food is excellent, but the space is just too small. It won't stop me from coming here though haha, I'll take the 20min wait if I can get my pâté and Mediterranean breakfast. read more

The dumbest seating policy. They take reservations on walk-in. Then they hold the tables for however long whether the people come or don't. This quickly became my favorite brunch spot in Bay Ridge. I've been here three times so far and the food has been delicious every single time. All of the dishes I tried were delicious but I HIGHLY recommend the Roasted Potatoes. They're crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The Crispy Potato Tart is delicious. I'm a big fan of hash browns and this dish doesn't disappoint. As for drinks, I love the Sparkling Pear. It tasted like I was drinking straight from an actual pear. The food tasted fresh and clean. I think I found my new brunch spot at The Common. What a great addition to the Bay Ridge area food scene. To be honest, it was getting a little stale. I've been meaning to check this place out for a few weeks, since it opened. I'm super happy I was able to this weekend. It's pretty small, fitting about 20 people. There's two or three big tables for groups and the rest are for duos. I love that the music is low but still discernible. I can hear myself think. I also loved the hanging lightbulbs in mason jars over the open kitchen area. I'm a sucker for the hipster vibe. The staff was so nice and accommodating. Honey Yogurt Bowl [$9]: Ultimately this is yogurt parfait with sliced bananas and black berries. There was also granola with nuts in the bowl. There were candied lemon slices on top which kind overwhelmed the palette. Overall, it was still enjoyable and was a nice size. My boyfriend had the Eggs Benedict [$14] with fried chicken and roasted potatoes. Totally delicious looking. I may or may not have stolen a few potatoes. They were seasoned with sea salt and were super crispy and awesome. There was also some arugula on the side. We both had lattes which were delicious. Mine came in a massive bowl. This was a superior latte, especially for $4. The espresso wasn't too bitter. It was perfect. $33, before tip. I'll be back. Keep it up! read more

A fabulous little gem of an addition to our neighborhood! The Common will fit right in with other foodie places this side of Bay Ridge, but also set itself apart and stand out delightfully with its' creative cuisine and cozy atmosphere. On our recent Sunday brunch visit, The Common was the epitome of a relaxing and deliciously satisfying leisurely weekend meal. The staff was lovely, from the moment we walked in through the doors, throughout our meal (accommodating a last minute request) and all the way until we waved them goodbye, full and happy, promising to return! The menu is intriguing with options plentiful, but not overwhelming (it helps that they are organized in categories so you could really zero in on what you're in the mood for). Everything is prepared fresh to order and it shows - every bite truly tastes farm fresh and piping hot. Something as simple as our son's scrambled eggs was truly delicious (evident by the fact that a 3 year-old finished every last bite on his plate). I enjoyed a nice latte and my husband nursed a pot of the Seaberry tea, both soul-warming on this cold morning. My Inside Out Truffle bun was out of this world - quite possibly the best combination of breakfast flavors I've ever had! I'll just say that your life isn't complete until you've tried their bacon jam. My husband had a hearty pastrami sandwich with melty mozzarella perfectly paired on pumpernickel bread. A last minute addition of the smoky potatoes was totally worth it - and the aioli they came with complemented it very well. Overall an excellent meal boasting deeply delicious and satisfying flavors, paired perfectly with a warm, cozy atmosphere and friendly, welcoming service! An absolute must-try for your weekend brunch in Bay Ridge. And to the staff and Chef at The Common - thank you for bringing your ideas to life in our neighborhood! read more
