I've been to The Collins for lunch and dinner now and have absolutely LOVED my meal both times! It comes as no surprise as I am a HUGE fan of their sister restaurant, Grassroots. The ambiance is wonderful, service is extremely friendly, and the menu cannot be beat. There is literally something for everyone! For starters, you must try one of their refreshing craft cocktails (you can't go wrong with any of them) and I highly recommend getting their Brussels sprouts and they had pimento dip on special when we were there that was to die for. The cauliflower is also super tasty! For my lunch entree, I got their Asian noodle salad and loved it! The chunky avocado was a nice touch. It did have a tad more kale than I was expecting but hey, it makes it healthier, right? For dinner, I ordered their steak and frites. DELICIOUS! Their frites are definitely some of the best around. For dessert, we ordered an oreo/chocolate mousse cake and it seriously melted in your mouth. We cannot wait to come back! read more

Went for daughter's birthday. We got a nice comfy booth. The service was very good and the food amazing. Birthday girl wanted to go to the happy hour and slurp down some raw oysters. She and her friend ordered 2 platters each and ingested every single one! We ordered a variety of items which were all delicious. The pizza was top notch. I almost didn't order it because I thought, "it's not a pizza place so I better not." I was sorely mistaken. It is one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten and I've eaten A LOT!! The Collins Small Batch Kitchen is located in the Biltmore Section of Phoenix. This is an American/New American Restaurant. It also is a research and development playground by Chef Christopher Collins because in addition to the daily menu they also offer a rotating menu of different foods. This restaurant also offers a brunch menu and more. The atmosphere is American with modern and Arizonan accents. They offer a large bar, traditional tables, booths and a small high top patio. Depending on where you are seated you might have a view of the kitchen action. If you go in to wash your hands you will be on the end of the kitchen......(it's REALLY an open kitchen). We started with the Pecan Wood-Fired Artichokes. We received three very large halves and a super tasty dipping sauce. The artichokes weren't the meatiest today but were full of delicious flavors that kept us busy for a while. For my main I had The Twisted Noodle Salad with choice of Steak or Shrimp. OMG YUM! This salad was FORKING INCREDIBLE! It was bright, sour, sweet, spicy, delicious, chewy, crunchy, really, REALLY, I MEAN REALLY delicious! This salad KICKS but it doesn't hurt. I normally would never order a salad with steak but DANG this was delicious! My husband tried the King's Burger. This was like the ONE in 20 restaurants we've been too that can actually serve a medium-rare burger. WHOOT! It also was made with bacon that didn't have all the juiciness cooked out of it. I heard that the blue cheese and pommery mustard were a very delicious combination. Slaw was very good...great flavors and not drippy. It all went on a local Noble soft brioche bun that was perfect for the sandwich. For his side he got at no extra charge the Mac'N'Cheese that also was very good! The only bad part of my visit was...... I wanted to have the blackberry cobbler ala mode for dessert since I know the desserts from Collins Restaurants are very good and worth the calories........but unfortunately my salad was so delicious and substantial I had to eat too much of it and didn't save room for dessert. The inside of this restaurant is very nice and comfortable. Our server was very friendly. This restaurant is pretty busy so it's good to make a reservation. We got the brussels sprout appetizer to start with which was good. For dinner I got a salad and the French onion soup. The soup was OK but not great as it was mostly broth and a huge chunk of cheese with just one piece of bread . The salad, however was very good. I wish they would bring water in the beginning of the meal because I didn't get it until we asked for the check. We have eaten at The Collins several times now and I can confidently say that I've never had anything on the menu that I wouldn't order over and over again. This place is FANTASTIC! We've brought large groups, small groups, and just simple date nights with me and my husband. The service is top notch, every single time. A must order is the French onion soup (we get this every time). The French dip is awesome. All of their pizzas are super delicious, the Brussels sprouts are a must-order and their desserts are off the charts, amazing! Every server has been so sweet and attentive. To me, this makes me think that staff must be treated well. Everyone is just so nice! As stated above, we have always had great experiences dining here. A huge shoutout to Paige. We were seated promptly for our reservation just before 6 PM. The bartender took our drink orders shortly after, and our waitress, Savannah, took our appetizer and dinner orders a few minutes later. My girlfriend received her drink around 6:10, but I did not receive mine until 6:35, despite asking three separate times within that 30-minute period, along with requests for water. As I was about to leave due to the lack of service, our appetizer arrived, prompting us to stay. Waters finally came after I asked a fourth time, from someone who was neither the waitress nor the bartender, about 40 minutes into our visit. Despite my date receiving her drink, it became diluted as she waited for me to get mine. The food was indeed great but difficult to enjoy without any water or drink refills. I've never had to request water and a drink four times at establishments with much lower ratings than The Collins. It's disheartening to see a restaurant with such potential be brought down by poor service. read more

I have been to this place several times and the service is always very good and professional! My go to dish is definitely the crab cakes. They are well seasoned and very good. They can come with a salad or as an entree with shoestring fries. I've also tried the charred Brussel sprouts which is very tasty and crispy on the outside. I love French onion soup but surprisingly their isn't my favorite, what I did find was a new favorite. They have a kale Asian noodle salad, it popped out on the menu and did not disappoint. We went here for happy hour date night. Very cute place with eclectic art and all of the staff is super friendly. We started with the french onion dip and it was amazing, super creamy and light and the caramelized onions were a great touch! Then we had drinks and split a pizza and a burger. The pizza was good and also had caramelized onions it was just one of those date nights where we put the food above preserving fresh breath for our date. It was called the Atta Boy and was good both hot and cold the next day! As for the burger we had the kings burger- honestly the pizza was much better. The burger came LOADED with very FRAGRANT blue cheese. I have been on a blue cheese kick lately so I was excited. The burger was a bit disappointing the blue cheese was like too strong? I am not sure it was hard to get past the smell. I got the rest of the burger to go and it somehow came without the toppings and was weird. Some small plates are on special as well as a mixture of drink options. My rose was delicious and my partner loved the beer options on tap, including local brews. We shared the onion dip (soooo decadent) and the prime sliders with Brie and jus for dipping; those were inhaled so quickly we didn't get a chance for a photo. David was friendly and attentive and the ambience here is nice without being stuffy. The Fish sandwich could have tasted slightly better and the coleslaw on the brioche and pickles somehow did not go very well with the Fish. Just had a great happy hour/early dinner at The Collins. I chose The Collins because I wanted to find a place comfortable enough to bring my grandma. They have nice large booths and comfy seats, so they fit the bill! Drink wise- I enjoyed both cocktails. I had the Bourbon & Berries (a little sweet, but not too much) and Whisky & Orange (just bitter enough). Food- We had a few dozen oysters- they were all fresh and tasty! We ordered two pizzas (sausage & mushroom and margherita)- both were solid. Two others in our parties had burgers and really enjoyed them. The tres leches cake and coconut creme pie rounded out our dinner. They were both delicious! I've been coming here since they opened and I am appalled that I have yet to leave a review. The Collins is a place where you can enjoy high quality food and drinks without too much of the uptight crowd you usually get at other high end restaurants in Arcadia. Everything on the menu is tasty but my favorite is the ahi poke and guacamole. My husband loves the Prime Rib served on the weekends. Drinks are great and the bartenders are one of a kind. This is the second time I've had a substantially bad experience with this same manager. The whole culture at the Collins has changed over the last year, and I wonder if it has in part to do with this person leading. Today we went to sit on the patio with my service dog for a quick lunch. I ordered my husband's meal and my meal, and then I asked for a side of a chicken breast. The server told me she wasn't sure if she could just ring up a chicken breast because primarily they use rotisserie. I asked her what comes on the sandwich and she said, chicken breast, but I'm just not sure if I can ring it up alone. We told her not to worry about it if she can't answer to just ring up the whole sandwich but without all the fixings. Within a couple minutes, the manager stepped out didn't ask me a single question -just started lecturing me about how they don't serve food to dogs, and my service dog should have their own food and water (mind you I never asked for water for my dog). That alone was pretty frustrating but I understood what they were probably thinking so I explained I didn't order food for my dog. I ordered a side chicken breast - she told me she could not just give me a free side of chicken, again being insulting. I told her I was pretty confused by this whole conversation seeing as I had asked her waitress to ring up a whole sandwich if it was going to be an issue ringing up just a side chicken breast I was just trying to increase my protein intake. Not that I should have to explain any of this to her. Instead of recognizing the fact that she never asked me any questions and just assumed I was doing something she didn't want me to, she responds with "OK fine I'll just serve you" I told her to cancel our food, that I was leaving and asked for her name, she ran off into the kitchen. I even went inside to ask for a different contact number for either the GM or even the owner because unfortunately this wasn't the first time shes been super rude (completely different situation last time) - we asked for a shared plate and got reprimanded for asking because the chef prioritizes presentation and doesn't want the already cut in half sandwich (btw) to be split. Wish I was making that up. She then dug in and said it's a corporate rule - lol I thought it was a small batch kitchen though? This manager is a gravesite and needs to go read more
