We have been to the market at Jennifer's before, and I have really enjoyed it. We keep a restaurant week and for a weeknight it was full when we arrived around 6:30. I really love the aesthetic of this place. First of all it's tucked on the back corner of a strip mall. You wouldn't know it was care without looking, even though there is a small patio that wraps around. The dining room is kind of a great mixture that stuff it's very industrial working with lots of concrete with open duct work, but it also has a lovely tufted Bank at and crystal chandeliers. The perfect balance and I love it. You can see into the kitchen which I also like. Our server was delightful, and I loved the attentiveness, like making sure to move the curtains when the light was hitting in an odd way. I started with a delicious drink that I think was called Mezcal Orange Fizz. It was yummy! For the first course I chose the Salmon Crudo. It had a citrus dressing and crispy rice chip. It was absolutely delicious, but very tiny. I could have licked the plate because the dressing was so yummy. My friend had the gazpacho, which she said was very good With main course I chose the Garlic-Lemon Scallops and Corn. It was four delicious scallops on polenta garnished with popcorn. What a cool surprise! It was really good! My friend had the short ribs which she seemed to like as well. For dessert, we both chose the key lime tart. It was a little bit of heaven on a plate! I really enjoyed it. The portion sizes were appropriate - - what we probably should be eating rather than the huge portions we normally get. I was able to finish everything, and I left full but not stuffed. I did remove a star because I did not like that they charged a gratuity on a check for just one person. I normally tip a minimum of 25%, but they added 18%. I just left it. I understand the need to include the gratuity with a larger party (somehow the server always seems to get the short end on those larger parties). I don't know if that's a normal thing, or a restaurant week thing because, to be honest, hubby always pays the bill. I do recommend this hidden gem of a place. It has a lot going for it and I've always enjoyed my visits here. read more

The other night I was finally able to try The Market by Jennifer's after hearing about it so many times. The restaurant is tucked away in an alley in Arcadia but has such a great vibe when you walk in. The kitchen is huge and open to the restaurant and there are so many great drink options. The Chicken Satay was perfectly fried chicken with a delicious blue cheese dipping sauce. The Gnocchi dish was one of the more creative dishes I have had. The tomato-vodka sauce was thick and creamy but wasn't overpowering so the taste of mushrooms and spinach still came through along with the slow-roasted pork. The chef is an award-winning chef. Although her dishes may not look like it, they truly taste like it. We had their version of beignets (French donuts). they did not use the typical powder that is used for beignets and used cinnamon instead. It was still mouthwatering tasty! The sauce that they use on their steak makes the steak more juicy, and tastes better with the sauce. The only disappointment I had with this restaurant was that some of the items photographed on their yelp food photos was not available. Easter 2024 Lunch at The Market! Loved the interior, hostess was awesome and our service was fantastic! Started off with pre-lunch drinks and can't say I've had a fig mule before but I'm definitely keeping that one on my drink list Brunch menu was offered, but we stuck with their normal menu and couldn't have had a better meal than what we had today. Chilaquiles were perfectly seasoned with the egg (sunny side up). I had their mango / habanero hot sauce and while it kicked up my tastebuds to a new level I didn't find it to be unbearable to keep pouring more on. Dessert we both agreed that the lemon tart was our favorite and was light, fresh, not too sweet and loved the homemade cream on top. Don't let this pass you by and give it a try! read more

Came here for their Euro wine series (France) on a Thursday night and had the best experience! Our server was so nice! We weren't at all rushed with the courses and got to savor our food/wine. Every course was delicious and very well balanced. My friend who came with me has never done a set menu and isn't really one to try new foods. The Market by Jennifer's was on my hit-list because the items on the menu sounded delicious, especially since they ingredients are sourced locally. While the restaurant is cute and the service was quick, the food was ultimately lacking in flavor. We started with the burrata. It came out quickly and was plated quite beautifully, so I was excited to dig in. With the wide variety of toppings (including beans?) I was confused why I couldn't taste any of them, aside from the oil. For my main, I got the chicken piccata. It came out looking fresh and smelled delicious. This dish was more flavorful than the appetizer, but without the gravy to pour over everything, would've been lacking in the flavor department. Chicken was cooked perfectly, with a moist interior. The asparagus was okay, although the ends needed to be trimmed more, as it was quite fibrous. The entire dish could've been improved with something as simple as a touch more salt and pepper. My fiancé got the yellow fin niçoise. It was filled with fresh ingredients, but again, he said it lacked flavor depth. Overall, if we were to return to The Market, it would be to enjoy a glass of wine. For the price of the food, we can get meals we thoroughly enjoy somewhere else. If you're into high quality ingredients and blander food, this would be a great spot for you. In terms of service, our waitress was attentive and sweet. There were only two other tables seated at prime time on a Saturday night, which apparently left the kitchen staff with nothing to do but stare at the diners, which was a bit uncomfortable. The interior has a cute, intimate feel, and is in the same building as Trevor's. The chairs are definitely cheap and slightly uncomfortable, but play into the overall aesthetic. Sadly, the plastic backs left me with no place to put my purse. It's difficult to enjoy a nice dinner with a bag on the the table top, and I didn't want to put my handbag on the floor. read more

When we arrived it was probably before the dinner rush and it wasn't busy, having said that the service was friendly albeit a tad slow. We started with the Market chips and dip, house made potato chips with dip and they are plenty for the table piled high! I guess I never realized I needed avocado crème and lemon dill dip for a potato chip but I now know I do! Several of people at the table including my partner had the burger and the consensus was it was okay. It came with the same home made chips as our appetizer but the ones accompanying the burgers everyone complained were stale and soggy (don't know how that happened) the appetizer ones were perfect. I had the gnocchi vegetarian with mushrooms and spinach and it was fine , the pasta was good and it was rich enough I took half of it home . Would I go back? Not 100 percent sure. read more

This place is a hidden gem. More so because it's tucked away at the end of the shopping plaza so don't miss it! In case you didn't know, this place serves BRUNCH. And if you were thinking about coming here for Brunch, please do! They also serve beer, coctails and wine which includes Mimosas and Bloody Mary's in case you need a Brunchy Beverage to cure the hangover blues. The interior was nothing to gawk about and had a bistro type feel with the small dining area. On a Sunday morning it was not too busy and was not sure if patio seating was even open at this time. The BURRATA was amazing. The mozzarella was served on focaccia with pesto and fried basil on top. Talk about salty goodness, I highly recommend. The CHILEQUILES were made with a salsa verde and has a bit of a kick. This tomatillo based salsa was soaked up by the tortilla chips and created a satisfying contrast of soft and crunchy. The over easy egg and tomatoes and cilantro and cheese and crema were perfect elements for a morning plate. I'm eager to try other dishes for the dinner service. Will be back! read more

Had a great time tasting The Market's fall restaurant week menu! The service was quick and the ambience is amazing here, and my highlight was the dessert. The vanilla panna cotta was so flavorful and light and had an incredible strawberry compote pairing. I think the tempura shrimp was quite good - it wasn't as crispy as one would expect but I don't mind a softer crunch so I enjoyed it. The steak was perfectly done and had a unique pairing with chimichurri which was quite good, although the fries missed the mark and were quite overdone. I wasn't craving a replacement but despite the staff being quite nice and attentive, I wasn't even offered one. Overall I would say this is a place worth visiting. read more

Haven't been to Market By Jennifer's for 8 months or so and missed it! Always delicious...had the salmon and a Pinot Blanc which was delicious. We started off with the burrata it wasn't the traditional burrata with a red sauce that most places serve its with some type of pesto which was really delicious! I would recommend getting it without the onions though & I love onions but it def leaves a strange after flavor for the rest of the evening lol it also comes with only two slices of small toast but it's noble bread service so you know it's amazing! I had the steak frites & micro greens salad it was seasoned and cooked perfect. My husband ordered the gnocchi which was a generous portion but lacked actual flavor so would pass on that. I used to live so close to the plaza this was in, and of course this hidden gem came about after I moved! I love that this spot it a little bit hidden within Arcadia. They have an adorable patio that's perfect for these fall nights. The decor is cozy and somewhat industrial, but stylish with pops of red. I knew I was going to love this place when I saw Geyserville wines on the menu. These locally focused restaurants really are next level, and between the wine and food, you could really tell how fresh everything was. My friend and I had arancini to split. Though I'm a sicilian stickler for good arancini, this take on arancini was amazing! It had a vodka and saffron like sauce. My main dish was the shrimp and polenta, and it was outstanding. Most disappointing *attempt* at a birthday dinner ever. We were really looking forward to try their AZ restaurant week menu. Had a reservation at 5pm, we were greeted and escorted to a high top table, which has tall uncomfortable narrow metal stools, but I guess they look cute right... so priorities. Well we asked for a regular table instead since there were several available and the manager *quickly* replied it was just not possible and stated that having a party of three was "odd" and they would be busy at some point so he couldn't accommodate us. Mind you there are empty tables available at a mostly empty restaurant at 5 o clock pm. But I guess this place prioritizes potential future customers that are coming in vs. patrons that are already *uncomfortably* sitting there. Shame on us for making a reservation for an "odd party" of three. We weren't even able to explain it was to accommodate one of our party members who had an injury and would not be able to physically sit there for an entire dinner before the manager stated he just couldn't do it. The manager then hollers, "well I can do the bar if you want to sit here". No, sorry. We didn't make a reservation to celebrate an occasion over dinner to sit in a row in front of the kitchen and not be able to enjoy each other's company At that point we were already looking for other places that could accommodate our odd party with a normal dining experience we could all enjoy. So we decided to leave. The cherry on top was when manager hollers across the restaurant in a completely unprofessional and loud sarcastic tone "Thank you! We appreciate you!". Aka don't let the door hit you in the a**. Note to Jennifer: your food may be great but your manager needs some education and training in customer service and professionalism. We decided to try The Market for AZ Restaurant Week. Not only is Jennifer the daughter of our long-time dentist (proud papa) but I also enjoyed watching her on "Chopped." The judges on the show loved her steak entree, so I wanted to order her steak and frites plate. Here were my three courses: *Cauliflower soup - This was really creamy and delicious, and I loved the addition of a toasted pretzel and fried cauliflower. *Steak and Frites - The star of my meal. The seared hanger steak was very flavorful and cooked just right. I liked the cute little container of green pepper sauce, and you can't go wrong with shoestring fries. *Pound cake - The vanilla cake was unlike other pound cake I've had. Not bad, just different. The Grand Marnier poached apricots were a nice addition, and the crème fresh was an ample portion. My husband also enjoyed his squash and pancetta linguine. Our waiter had the serving thing down pat. He knew just when to check and in with us and never hovered. The Market is kind of tucked away behind a strip mall, but they have turned an industrial space into something appealing. Went for Restaurant Week. Flavors were good, but some of the items were not what I was expecting -- especially the hanger steak. The server mentioned it was served pretty rate (listed as medium rare). I asked if I could get it closer to medium and received 2 charred steak tips that were basically tartare inside. I'm not sure how they were exposed to so much heat on the outside, yet remained so rare inside -- these weren't tomahawk steaks! The burrata appetizer had great flavor, but the cheese itself had the texture of a buffalo mozzarella vs. a fresh/creamy burrata. It was very firm and I couldn't spread it on the toasted bread it was served with. Assuming I got the firmest most outer edge of the burrata ball. Dessert was great and the cocktails were nice. I'll likely try something else on the menu in the future, but wasn't blown away. Seating was kind of cramped, too. May hold off for a cooler day on the patio. read more

The homemade potato chips are salty goodness. The pozole is fantastic. It doesn't have the kick I'm used to in pozole but I'd order it again. Do not order the enchiladas. This dish does not work. The chilaquiles were fine. I think I'm resigned to the fact that I don't really like chilaquiles. Our server was wonderful. I'll give it another chance to find an entree I like. Brunch is a mess. We, the Foodie Party of Five, we're excited to visit The Market. There has a been a steady favorable buzz about this place for lunch/dinner but we hadn't heard much about the brunch. There is a good reason. The Beignets were an overly sugared version of doughnut holes that were accompanied by a strange cream cheese orange frosting that had a mildly bitter character. Just shy of half the dough balls were burned and overall, just meh. The Meat Frittata was a dry, very dry, assassination of the egg. It was surprisingly dense and unfortunately under seasoned. The Chilaquiles was the only dish executed well. This is chili season and the batch they used today was fresh, crisp and had a nice finishing punch of heat. The Ricotta Gnocchi was quite sparse in the ricotta department and quite average in the balance of flavor. The White Cake French Toast was as saccharine as it sounds. To that end, there really doesn't need to be four slices and should be paired with something salty or savory. The Blackberry Bread Pudding was clearly made well in advance. It did not taste fresh and, like the frittata, was super dense. Flavor of the berries was only on the outer crust. The bread itself was so dense that it failed to absorb the best flavors. Service was slow and never did the waiter return to the table to check if the dishes were satisfactory. When asked, "what is good here?" He only mentioned the chilaquiles...which should have been the signs to run. The decor is clean and inviting. Overall, Jennifer may still be a queen of catering but she is a bust in brick and mortar brunch. read more

We decided to try this place during restaurant week. It was a delightful dinner with really tasty food. Ordered the wedge salad but it was unlike any wedge I had before. Was skeptical when it arrived with a vinaigrette vs a creamy dressing. But it was delish. For my entree I had the Beef Tenderloin which was also very tasty al though a bit salty. Boo ordered the Shrimp & Grits for a starter & the Salmon Piccata. He loved it. For dessert I ordered the bread pudding w/caramel sauce & Boo got the Spiced caramel chocolate tart. We had our desserts to go & enjoyed them at home! We each also had a cocktail, I had nice margarita & Boo had a rum drink. We were impressed & will be back. Service was outstanding. I liked this little restaurant it just felt cozy. The food was good. I ordered the chilaquiles that I always compare to my mom's, and this is one of the only spots I've had some really tasty chilaquiles. When I checked in I got a FREE cup of Pozole which was a BONUS!! Honestly I would've been totally content with just the pozole because it was amazing! I wish it would've had a little more cilantro, and maybe some more lettuce, but either way it was yummy. The meat in the pozole was so tender. I loved it guys! The server was super sweet & attentive! The reason I say this is because my husband ordered meat balls, and he really didn't like them at all. He had one bite, and was done. She offered to take it off the bill, but we told her she didn't have to do that. We paid for them, but the offer was nice.
