Incredible historic building built in the 1920's that used to store ice, there is even covered railroad tracks inside which used to transport the ice. Now the ice storage units are studios for artists. The 1st floor venue area is rentable for weddings and other events. Very cool space, the gallery was my favorite area, if you go up the stairs you see the studios. I felt very lucky as a guest to be invited to an event here and experience it. read more

Love the icehouse. A beautiful place as event rental for corporate parties. The building has an amazing structure and design with an open roof. The outdoor patio is perfect for a greeting spot and putting out a rolling bar as guests enter. I love that it has 3-4 rooms to have various entertainment areas for guests to mingle and enjoy before dinner, such as a casino setup or other games or an item table filled with of silent auction items. I love, love, love warehouse renovated spaces. What can I say, it is the Native New Yorker part of me that still exists, even though I have lived in the desert for decades. This is a cool place. Think large warehouse turned into a now active for rent event space. I went for a company holiday party. It is an adaptable space venue. It has a few rooms and an outside small alley like patio area. The patio area can be used for a bar and or maybe a BBQ and/or whatever the client wants/requests I suppose. I had a great time here and I keep hoping to get invited back to a corporate event being held at the Icehouse. Haha, some day! read more

Perfect venue for the perfect wedding!! We got married here on 2/20/21 and are still buzzing from the day/night. Jayme is seriously incredible.. We had our eyes set on this place from day 1 because obviously it's beautiful. Wondering why every photo you see is beautiful?? Jayme. She has such an amazing eye for what looks great and her experience in this space really shows. My wife came prepare with an overwhelming amount of Pinterest boards to share her ideas and Jayme wasn't worried about anything in the slightest. What we loved about this venue outside of the obvious is that Jayme manages the entire setup, decorating and breakdown. I have to believe that she can turn the venue into whatever vibe you're going for. A plus was that our Day-of Planner, Kristi Bearden with Party Bliss, works really well with Jayme. Jayme rules!!! We had our wedding here in November! She freaking killed it! She had such a great vision! My advice to other Brides is trust what Jayme says she's an artist and knows her space. Be open and make sure you know what your getting in your price for the venue. We made sure we knew in the beginning what we would be charged for. I've seen the other reviews in here and so I was a bit nervous, and I have to say we absolutely don't agree with these other bad reviews!!! My fiancé and I were interested in the icehouse as a wedding venue. The photos where stunning and we were really excited to view the space. We got into contact with Jayme the manager on site and she gave us a vague time tot meet her. Once we got to the venue the experience was instantly TERRIBLE. Let me be clear, the space is BEAUTIFUL, but Jayme is beyond off-putting. She seemed to have forgot that she made an appointment with us and proceeded to give us the most lack luster tour of all time. Though the space was very pretty I can't imagine ever voluntarily interacting with Jayme EVER AGAIN. Look do yourself a favor, avoid interacting with this women. read more

I had my wedding at the Icehouse and I can honestly say I wouldn't have picked this venue if I had to do it all over again. I chose this venue because of it's unique quality and the location was perfect, what I didn't like was my experience with their "middle person" also known as Downtown Phoenix Venues. I chose this venue because you are essentially being rented the building and everything else needs to be brought in (Everything!) I thought this was perfect since I could personalize everything and I didn't want your typical wedding. Well this place makes it seem that way but is actually the opposite, Riette has so many rules it's absurd. I wanted to bring in a waffle truck at the end of the night and asked if we could park it near the patio on their parking lot, she said no because they only allow their five caterers on the property so I would need to have my guests walk outside of the venue for the waffles. Before I signed the contract she assured me that the caterers were open to working within my budget since I had read the online reviews and was a bit apprehensive about this very issue. I contacted all 5 caterers and only one would work with me and even then I had to pay 1,500 more than I originally budgeted. I had 85 guests and the caterers ranged from 5k-10k! I couldn't believe it. They didn't want to work with my budget and since they knew I was contracted with the Icehouse they didn't care about my business. I chose Atlasta Catering and they were wonderful but the price is what I wasn't happy with. I asked if we could bring in a different caterer she said they didn't make exceptions and if they did that for me they would have to do it for other brides, a few weeks before my wedding I found a different wedding that was feautured on a blog and they used an outside caterer! There are so many discrepancies it's really infuriating. I also had to hire 2 Phoenix police officers. Yes, 2 for a wedding of less than 100 people!! and pay for that as well. Had to pay an extra 300 for wedding day insurance that the venue requires (but that doesn't cover vendors so you have to make sure that they all have insurance of their own) The hilarious part of all of this is that they've had RAVES at this venue and huge parties but a wedding with less than 100 people requires police officers and all of these rules and regulations? I understand that they don't want things to get out of hand but it's ridiculous. Also keep in mind that in order to rent pretty much any downtown Phoenix venue you need to go through her. I spoke to several vendors some as far as Scottsdale and they knew about Riette's reputation before I even said anything, Will she let you do that? have you talked to Riette? she probably wouldn't allow that. I think that the building owner's need to realize that she is hurting their business by being so difficult to work with. I even had to tell my coordinator to strictly deal with the venue because I couldn't handle it anymore. I went way over budget because of all of these fees and the added expense of the caterer. The wedding was beautiful and they did deliver the day of the wedding. My guests had no idea but I had such a horrible experience preparing for this huge event in my life that I really regret picking this venue. read more

When Icehouse first opened it was like the new cool kid in school. Everyone wanted to be it's friend, be seen with it, casually name drop "Icehouse" into a conversation as if it wasn't any big deal and they were just like... that. (Picture two fingers held up and touching, if not twisted around one another.) So at first I resisted. Because if it was a cool place and I talked about it, I'd sound like "one of them". And if it wasn't cool, and I was telling folks how un-cool it was while they were trying to stress how cool it was... well, you can imagine how messy that could get. So, after finally checking it out I can now make the most uncool statement ever about it. It's one of my MOM'S favorite spaces. That's right cool kids. My mom likes it. So now you have to move on to your next gallery. I like that it's a place that can be known for hosting raves, corporate events, charitable functions and yet is still considered funky and cutting edge. It's a great space, and as you'll see in the pictures, the front entrance is an amazing spot for installation work. My husband and I got married here June 29, 2019 and it was beautiful. Jayme is not your typical vendor- she is an artist and treats her events as such. She is super fun and personable. She put together the most beautiful event for us, and didn't shy away when she thought something we had in mind was going to look bad or was a bad idea. We held our cocktail hour in the gallery and it was stunning. If you're planning a summer event here, it's going to be hot- the air conditioning does not work well enough in the large space to provide a cool escape from the 110 degree heat, so be aware of that. This is an absolutely beautiful space that is soooo reasonably priced. You get to provide your own alcohol and catering which is so nice. We love Jayme, and the Icehouse will always hold a special place in our hearts. read more

We attended their open house on a Sunday afternoon. Several vendors participated such as flower, DJ, Event planner, mobile bartender providers and a pizza company. This is a rather eclectic wedding venue, quite a large area (35,000 sqft in all). I can only judge what l saw, as it was only staged to showcase their venue and services. I was a bit concerned by the dust, lack of cleanliness. The entire venue needs to be cleaned up, maintained better. Now it might work great for some and it is a venue that claims to work with it's community and smaller budgets. read more

Perfect for artists, Joe Holdren takes care of the gallery aspect of The Icehouse. In regard to the cats, they are spayed and neutered. It's a difficult process to round up the feral cats. This establishment is very unprofessional. While inquiring about an event, we ran into many unclear statements. We spoke to Joe initially and when we came to him , we told him what we wanted and he agreed that it could be done. After that, he referred us to Jaime and she stated the absolute opposite of what Joe said. On top of that, she assumed we couldn't afford the space which was highly offensive. Overall it was a mess trying to communicate with them about our vision and seemed like we were getting the runaround. We had heard negative experiences from this place but gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, those negative experiences were correct. Do not book your events here. read more

Very disappointing experience with the Icehouse. I work at a cancer hospital in the Valley and was interested in using their venue to take photos of patients and their families as part of a therapy program. Unlike other Phoenix venues, the Icehouse wouldn't give us a discount, which is understandable. We were willing to pay to use the space ($150/hr) and called for two weeks to attempt to reserve it, but we heard nothing back from them. I called over 10 times the day before and still heard nothing at all, so we ended up having to shoot outdoors due to change of plans. It's a beautiful space, but they're completely unresponsive and very difficult to work with. read more

The Icehouse is a cluster of historic warehouses on several parcels of land. The Icehouse is amoung forty historic warehouses. In comparison to 400 warehouses in the Original Townsite of Phoenix. Built approximately a century ago as an ice manufacturer in one building. Fuel storage for the coast to coast rail rides of produce,prior to electric refrigeration. WHOA. It looks scary by day, doesn't it? C'mon, admit it - it's true. It's something of a cross between goth heaven and Christian hell. Don't let that stop ya. I mean, why should it? You dont' scare easily, do you? You know, I'm never really sure how to find out what's going on here. I think there's some secret hidden password you need to know in order to access some secret hidden chamber of events. Who knows. I've been once... I wouldn't call it a rave, but some might. In fact, I'd call it A Really Big Party with Candy Kids Galore. Not that I have anything against parties. I don't. And I certainly love to dance to some electronic music. But, please. Must you think it cool to tote children's suckers around and suckle on pacifiers? That's not cool, nor is any mix that makes you think it's cool. You dig? In any case, the event I went to brought out the weirdos, myself included. I went with a friend, thankfully - as I do NOT recommend any female go alone here, no matter what. (Better safe than sorry.) So, I tried to dance. I really did. I wasn't even demanding that much floor space... and anyone who's been to Icehouse knows it has a big supply of dance space. Anyhow, I kept getting bumped, kicked, knocked around and intruded upon. That makes for one aggravated and annoyed Alicia. Needless to say, that wasn't the event for me. But, hey, it's really cool that Icehouse throws these events. So, props for that. It sure beats an empty building just wasting away like you'll find in Detroit. read more

One of the most incredible space in downtown Phoenix. Always a delightful experience. This last Art Detour (2008), on the second floor I saw two ghosts. So that was pretty awesome. My boyfriend opened the door and then closed it and I said let's go in there. He said there was nothing in there. I said I saw two people walking. I really did. He opened the door and in the back of the room, I saw a light and two people walking. We opened the door again, and it was pitch black and empty. Totally freaky! read more

I want to be clear, this is a beautiful property but as a bride it was such a MESS of an experience. Jayme runs the property and we had many issues leading up to the wedding including her ask for more money a week before the wedding, offering supplies that later were not available, and not providing ceremony equipment that was apart of our contract . The worst part was the day of the wedding: - My mom had to help her finish setting up, while guests were on site, because she was so far behind. She started to cry which is very unprofessional. - When there was issues the day of with tables for the vendor, she refused to give my husband her contact number so he could reach her. - Jayme promised the bridal suite and grooms room would have A/C by the wedding date. Neither did so both rooms were unusable - She kept the A/C off in the event space leading up to the event to save a buck. It took a long time to cool the space down. - During the reception know one could find her and she advised at the time we signed the contract she would be walking around during the event to be available. All our vendors tried to help us find her but there was no luck for almost 2hrs. I wish I would have read the reviews in more detail. read more

The Icehouse is a great example of adaptive use in downtown Phoenix. From it's origins producing ice used to ship produce farmed in the Valley by rail to eastern consumers, it has be resurrected as a multi-use space. While first and foremost an art gallery -- and it's diversity of interior and exterior spaces make it a great place for large scale installation work as well as more intimate showings -- it is also a unique space for all sorts of events from indie rock concerts to corporate fundraisers (and would make an AMAZING place for a wedding ceremony and reception!) read more

I've only been here once for the Phoenix Contemporary Design Fair, but it's such a cool spot. It's got this strange Tim Burton vibe going on and you kind of feel like you're going to get knifed if you're walking anywhere south of here, but it's got some funky charm. Easy to tell that it was a very charming building at one time, and I'm so glad it's still standing. It has a quasi-courtyard out front and on the west side of the building, and it made for an excellent live music spot on that particular night. Hopefully I can attend some more events there. My wedding was perfect! Jayme brought my vision to life even better then I expected! She stayed in touch with me for months and was always on top of everything! She recommended an amazing day of coordinator and because of them my wedding was absolutely amazing! We got so many compliments and it was such a relief not having to worry about a single thing! This venue is incredible -- right in the heart of downtown Phoenix, a breathtaking space for ceremony (with open-air ceiling), perfect "white column room" for cocktail hour, and HUGE high ceiling room for reception. I will say the acoustics in the dining room were atrocious. But it's a big empty room so who is surprised sound bounces everywhere? Great location. If I could give no stars I would. BRIDES BEWARE! Dirty unkept unsafe place. Recently held a wedding there. Jayme Blue was all promises untill the last check was cashed. She was so unprofessional, had my family on pins and needles with every interaction. She was irratated when we asked her to move her personal, dog hair covered funiture pieces that were stored in part of the reception room. We spent 10 hours cleaning (sweeping and cleaning) the rooms and galeries prior to the wedding....it was disgusting! Doors did not work properly (stuck shut) and had to be held open by rocks.  I'm an animal person but there were feral cats, dogs and rats running amok. Jayme was in full support and encouraged our wedding vision untill it came time to execute the things she said she would do. She had the bride in tears days before the wedding adding unnessecary stress to what was supposed to be a fun filled day. I have never met a more unprofessional manager than Jayme. I hope the Icehouse owners realize how unprofessional and un satisfied customers are with this woman. I am thoroughly dissapointed in how my family was treated as paying customers.....this place is not cheap to rent, considering all you get is the dirty venue...and even though we had text messages and e-mails between Jayme, confirming details,  she acted like we made her do something that was outside the scope of what she previously agreed to do. Do your homework and make sure you know details about this venue before you book. This venue is very unique so it's helpful to use vendors that have worked here before. Before you get started fill out the form on their website. You will receive a response with most of your questions answered. Hire Kristi Bearden from Party Bliss, this will be the best $900 you will ever spend.She will be your coordinator / liaison between vendors and keep you on track during your wedding process. BBQ Daddy Catering- Super affordable and delicious! Alexi's Grill on central- Rehearsal Dinner, private, elegant, delicious, very affordable. Tracy from Fully Alive Photography-Amazing photos, this lady was with us working nonstop for 15 hours.She has the patience of a saint. Courtyard Marriott on central- Get a room with a kitchen and stock it with food and water. This is the closest hotel to the venue. Don't do a room block, cheaper to book online. The only glitch we had was the outlets in the area for the bride to get ready didn't work and it was hot in the room even with the windows open. We selected the Icehouse because of it's uniqueness as a venue. It was truly an amazing experience!!! Riette and Corinne were wonderful to work and very quick to respond to all of my questions. You do have to use their 6 prefered vendors for catering, but we told them our budget and they were all willing to put together a menu that fit. If your budget is tight, like ours was, just let them know what you have to work with, the type and style of food. All of our guests were blown away by the beauty of the Icehouse and everyone that helped set up and tear down (we did this all ourselves to save money) were so impressed by Riette and Corinne and their speediness and quickness to help us the entire time. I just cancelled my wedding with the Ice House. First of all, you can't work with the owner directly... you have to go through downtown phoenix venues which is the worst thing ever. One woman (Riette) is in charge of selling this property and I have never worked with someone so rude, unresponsive and condescending. At one point she actually said to me that she makes sure to to remind her assistant that brides are needy and you have to hold their hand the whole way through the wedding in response to me complaining about the fact that they would not include a note of the extra hour of event time they would give me if I paid my deposit by a certain date. Who would have thought that when paying thousands of dollars to rent a space that a sense of urgency in response time and communication is expected in return. Second of all, they tell you that you have to use one of the five caterers on the list they provide, but if you find a different one you like they will review and decide if they approve - which by the way they never approve. I ended up dealing with these 5 catering companies that were either way out of my price range, crappy food, or rude and unresponsive people who know that you are locked into a contract to work with them so lack in customer service. It was awful and turning my entire wedding planning process into a stressed out cryfest. I signed my contract in late November for my October 2014 wedding and its now early March.... I paid a $1300 deposit. I emailed Riette to explain my dilemma and that I wanted to cancel the contract strictly because of the fact that I cant deal with the catering company. I also told her I would greatly appreciate if she would take my request to the owner and consider returning my deposit because it was still 7 months in advance from the event date and she didn't event take a moment to thing about it so I am SURE she didn't take my request to the owner. She didn't offer to help me communicate with the catering companies that they make you use, or offer to assist with other companies they may approve. Literally NO HELP Whatsoever. I work in the hospitality industry and I just couldn't believe it. I basically paid this woman $1300 to do absolutely nothing except send me monthly update emails including photos of her personal vacations. Yes she was not updating me on anything to do with my wedding or venue,just her personal life which I couldn't care less about. If you would like to pay someone to do nothing besides belittle your opinions and reply condescendingly... downtown phoenix venues is the place to go. The Ice House is a beautiful venue but if you are considering this for an event... the management company just ruins it. I work for an event planning company and I would never in my life recommend this place or any place run by downtown phoenix venues to anyone. I can't thank Jayme and the team at the Icehouse enough for helping me put together my wedding. Throughout the year leading up to the big day Jayme was easy to communicate with and was always open for me to stop by and see the new wedding items she had. When it came down to the design vision I showed her one picture of a backdrop I like and she NAILED it. I thought I would have to put in more work than I actually did. The team made it so easy and helped with set up and takedown. All I can say is I'm so happy we went with the Icehouse. We are still getting compliments on what a beautiful wedding we had. We celebrated our daughter's Quinceañera 09/23/17. Jayme made promise after promise about how she was going to have the place looking amazing on the day of the event. We went to drop off a few items on the Friday before the event and noticed that the place was not even close to being ready. By Saturday afternoon we noticed that she was the only one working on the venue and the she was still working on the set up. The bathrooms and the "kitchen" were disgusting and don't even get me started on the refrigerator. This was at 5pm and the event was supposed to start at 6pm. My family had to clean up the kitchen and bathrooms and set up the tables. I flew in this past spring to see this venue my daughter picked out. At the time I found it nice and a bit quirky. The real star here is Jayme and the magic she creates. This woman is a true artist! I could not believe the transformation. The mixture of rustic and glam was amazing. Highly recommend. Can't wait for the pics. Will post once I get them and you can see for yourselves. read more

My husband and I just got married at the Icehouse on March 29, 2014 and I had to get on here and let everyone know how amazing it was! from start to finish working with Riette and her team was a blast, I felt like they were easy to talk to and able to joke around with us, which you don't always find with people in the wedding industry. I feel like a lot of people we spoke with just took themselves WAY too seriously, talking with Riette was always like talking with a friend which was important to me. If you haven't been to the venue you owe it to yourself to check it out if you are planning an event. It is such a unique venue and so beautiful. All of our guests couldn't stop talking about how much they loved the place and how cool it was. I saw some reviews about them being unresponsive and I can say that I NEVER had a problem, any question I had was always answered in a timely manner.
